Phillips -- Claudia D. Phillips, 85, passed away peacefully into our dear Lords arms Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at approximately 7:45 p.m. Claudia was born in Fargo, N. Dakota on November 20, 1917 and was raised by her grandparents, Evelina Austin and Frank Harkness Dunn in Harlingen, Texas on a farm until she was 14 years old. I recall her speaking of how she loved it there, of the beautiful bougainvillea flowers that grew wild, and how her grandparents taught her of value, morals and God. When her Grandma passed away, nuns in a Catholic boarding school in Cleveland Ohio raised her. She married Carl B. Phillips and lived in Santa Fe, NM for over 40 years until the last 1&1/3 years in which she lived in Albuquerque, NM. Claudia loved her music and dancing. As a little girl, she took toe dancing and aspired to become a ballerina. She became an excellent ballroom dancer and knew the steps to everything from the Waltz to the Cha-cha to the Twist. She played piano beautifully often entertaining friends and family in addition to cooking up feasts to be praised. Nicknamed 'Miss Kodak', she has left her family literally thousands of pictures of every gathering there ever was. She was generous, kind and giving and above all loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Claudia was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Phillips; her two brothers, Wendell and James Arns; sisters, Shirley and Louise Arns; and mother, Majorie Isabel Smith. She is survived by her three sons, Warren Vick and wife, Gloria of San Jose, CA, Darrell Phillips and wife, Dorothy of Santa Fe and Lee W. Phillips and wife, Judy of Albuquerque; and one daughter, Debbie C. Fike and husband, William of Albuquerque. Also surviving are two brothers, Gerald B.
