Armijo -- Ben G. Armijo, 83, lifelong resident of Albuquerque and originally from Sabinal, New Mexico, peacefully went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2003. He was a faithful husband, nurturing father, loving abuelo and an anchor for our family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sylvia (Sais) Armijo; his sons, Bennie Armijo, Dennis Armijo and wife, Nancy; Kenneth Armijo and wife Rosa; and daughter, LaVerne Lucero and husband, Joe. He cherished his grandchildren, Alisa, Jose, Kenny Jr., Michele, Teresa, Daniella and D.J. and great-granddaughter, MariLisa, and also his only remaining sister, Vina Enis, and many nieces and nephews. He was raised in Sabinal, New Mexico, son of a rancher and served his country in World War II, serving in India and other areas of the Far East. He always made time for his family, placing them first above everything else. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and traveling but he especially looked forward to having matanzas in his beloved Sabinal. He was a man of very strong faith and was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. Ben was preceded in death by his father, Clemente Armijo; his mother, Francisquita Armijo; his brothers, Geronimo, Pedro, Manuel, and Johnnie; his sisters, Carolina and Lala. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 8:00 p.m., February 23rd, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix NE, with Val Sais and Rosa Armijo reciting. 8:00 pm. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 a.m., February 24th, at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, presided by Father Johnny Lee Chavez and Deacon Pilar Garcia. Atencio -- Tobias (Toby) Atencio, Jr., 74, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, joined his precious Lord, Jesus, and his beloved wife, Cora, Tuesday, February 18, 2003. He is survived by four children, Jeanne Mondragon and husband, Joe, of Silver City, NM, Kathy Atencio, Toby Ray Atencio, Richard Atencio and wife, Emma, all of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren, Joshua Mondragon of Albuquerque, Janiah Shields and husband, Oren, and Jacob Mondragon of Silver City, NM, Zach Atencio, Luis Atencio, Brandy Atencio, Jennifer Atencio, Taylor Atencio, and Quentin Atencio all of Albuquerque; one brother, Alfonso Atencio and wife, Emma; and one sister, Celina Carrillo of Velarde, NM, numerous nephews, nieces, and friends. Toby was born in Velarde, NM and served in the Air Force. He retired from the Air National Guard, 250th Tactical Fighter Wing, nicknamed the"Enchilada Air Force" at KAFB¯in 1988 with the rank of MSgt. He was an airplane mechanic for many years then became a Logistician. He sidelined as a Realtor. Toby was an avid hunter and camper. He was a member of 2nd Presbyterian Church since 1953 where he served as an Elder and sang in the choir. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang solos at many weddings and funerals. Toby had many, many, friends and was well known for his generosity and his willingness to help anyone, anywhere, at any time. Many people thought of him as their second father or grandfather. Toby had Parkinson's Disease for many years. He left this world on his own terms surrounded by his children, grandchildren, brother, sister, and some nieces and nephews at Lovelace Hospital. His spirit was set free of his body's ailments and he went into the light. Memorial Services will be held at Second Presbyterian Church 812 Edith¯NE, Tuesday February 25, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be at¯Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul¯NE, Tuesday February 25, 2003¯at 2:00 p.m. with full military honors. Pallbearer will be Pedro Carreon. Gifts may be sent to Second Presbyterian Church in lieu of flowers.

Britt -- Bill E. Britt, age 68, a life long resident of Albuquerque died February 20, 2003. Survivors include his wife, of 51 years, Rose Marie of the family home; children, Cindy Phalen and husband, Micky, Lademma Nelson and husband, Greg, LaVon Britt, Shannon Minero and husband, Andrew, Randy Britt; sister, Charlotte Strain; brother, Jerry Britt; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild all of Albuquerque; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by sister, Barbara Daggett. Bill was a lifelong member of I.B.E.W 611; he loved horse races, fishing, golf, and gardening. He was an avid Lobos and Dallas Cowboy's fan, coached for the Central Valley Little League and was a Boy Scout Awards Officer. Viewing and Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 24, 2003 at Strong-Thorne Mortuary. Chavez -- Mrs. Ruth M. Chavez died Thursday, February 20, 2003 in Albuquerque at the age of 88. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel J. Chavez; mother, Fedelina Martinez; son, Ted Chavez; brothers, Elias, Lugo and Ben Martinez and recently preceded in death by Frank Martinez. Mrs. Chavez is survived by her children, Evelyn Chavez, Daniel E. Chavez and wife, Lupe, Jerry S. Chavez, Diana Valdez and husband, Steve and Christopher P. Chavez and wife, Jeanette; brother, Bon Martinez and wife, Julia; sister, Delia Navarro; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Mrs. Chavez will be held on Monday at San Ignacio Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Curley -- Tom Curley, Sr., 92, a resident of Albuquerque for 71 years, died Thursday, February 20, 2003. Doggett -- Bonnie"Scottie" Doggett, 64, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 17, 2003, from complications of a stroke. She is survived by her husband, Jim Doggett of Elephant Butte, NM and Vallecito, CO; three daughters; and sons-in-law, Scotia and Brian Kurowski of Santa Fe, NM, Suzanna and Tom Langowski of Colorado Springs, CO and Jamie and Oliver Robinson of Carlsbad, CA. She is also survived by her five granddaughters, Shannon Dworczyk, Olivia and Jillian Robinson, Ariana Langowski and Ellyn Kurowski; brothers, Jack and Dale Pflager, of Fort Morgan, CO. Her older sister, Betty Schmick preceded her in death by several years. Scottie was born and grew up in Fort Morgan, CO, later attending college at the University of Colorado where she met her husband Jim. She went on to attain her Masters Degree from UNM. She taught at Del Norte High School for over 20 years where she served as the English Department chairperson and specialized in Advanced Placement English. Scottie will be remembered by those who knew her as a devoted loving wife, mother and grandmother, an excellent and inspiring educator, an intelligent and effectual political activist, a respected community member, a lover of the outdoors and the high mountains, and an especially warm and valued friend. DuBay -- Cindy DuBay-Durden, peacefully passed away at home on Sunday, February 16, 2003 surrounded by her loving family and best friend, Brenda Arrossa. Cindy is survived by her devoted husband, William F. Durden; stepdaughters, Jezmynne Amergin and Corinne Durden; three step-grandchildren; parents, Kenneth and Maxine DuBay; brothers Timothy J. DuBay and wife, Regine, Michael A. DuBay and wife, Kristi; four nieces, two nephews, and her beloved cat, the Dowager Princess. Cindy would want to thank her associates and friends at PNM who were most supportive, helpful, and loving through the duration of her illness and her beloved friends at the State Bar of New Mexico Legal Assistant Division. Cindy was a 1974 graduate of Sandia High School, a 1978 graduate of New Mexico State University, and received her Associates Degree in paralegal studies from University of Albuquerque. Cindy was born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 15, 1956. She enjoyed traveling with Fred in the"Big Girl," a 1975 Oldsmobile convertible, attending classic car shows, visiting museums, reading books and magazines, and watching old movies. Ford -- Bob Ford, 67, a former resident of Farmington and a resident of Albuquerque the last two years, died Thursday, February 20, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janice Ford; mother, Helen Barker, both of the family home; sons, Rob Ford and wife Rhonda, and Brian Ford and companion Melinda Lopez, all of Farmington and Chuck Ford and wife, Gina of Albuquerque; daughter, Chris Oldham and companion Lorrie Carrillo of Farmington; three grandchildren, Jessica, Eric and Madison; and sister, Pat Nation of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Barker; and brother, Walter Ford. Bob was born in Bristow, OK and raised in the Bay Area of California. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and retired from the U.S. Air Force after 21 years. He served in Vietnam just outside of Saigon. Upon retirement, Bob moved to Farmington where he lived for 25 years. He was a member of the VFW Post in Farmington. Bob was a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend and will be missed by all who knew him. Garcia -- Mrs. Clorinda Garcia, 72, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on February 20, 2003. Mrs. Garcia is the beloved wife of 53 years to Mr. Gillie G. Garcia. Lyle -- Mollie Lynn Tribble Lyle was born on August 19, 1944 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Stuart and the late Gloria Tribble. She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1966 and started a career as an elementary school teacher. She was most proud of the fact that she had the opportunity to teach third-graders to read in Arkansas, Virginia, Indiana, New Jersey and New Mexico. She moved to Albuquerque in 1975 and began her real estate career in 1979. She married George Herrera and they moved to Salt Lake City, UT in 1992. Mollie remembered each and every one of her real estate customers and co-workers with great fondness. In her final days, Mollie enjoyed the love and companionship of an extraordinary group of friends, who traveled from across town or across the country to visit with her and tell her how much they loved her and what a positive impact she had made on their lives. Mollie enjoyed traveling, entertaining, volunteering as a Girl Scout leader, and most importantly, spending time with her grandson, Evan. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Lyle of Richardson, Texas; Sara Lyle, of Salt Lake City; and her grandson, Evan. Phillips -- Claudia D. Phillips, 85, passed away peacefully into our dear Lords arms Jesus Christ on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at approximately 7:45 p.m. Claudia was born in Fargo, N. Dakota on November 20, 1917 and was raised by her grandparents, Evelina Austin and Frank Harkness Dunn in Harlingen, Texas on a farm until she was 14 years old. I recall her speaking of how she loved it there, of the beautiful bougainvillea flowers that grew wild, and how her grandparents taught her of value, morals and God. When her Grandma passed away, nuns in a Catholic boarding school in Cleveland Ohio raised her. She married Carl B. Phillips and lived in Santa Fe, NM for over 40 years until the last 1&1/3 years in which she lived in Albuquerque, NM. Claudia loved her music and dancing. As a little girl, she took toe dancing and aspired to become a ballerina. She became an excellent ballroom dancer and knew the steps to everything from the Waltz to the Cha-cha to the Twist. She played piano beautifully often entertaining friends and family in addition to cooking up feasts to be praised. Nicknamed 'Miss Kodak', she has left her family literally thousands of pictures of every gathering there ever was. She was generous, kind and giving and above all loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Claudia was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Phillips; her two brothers, Wendell and James Arns; sisters, Shirley and Louise Arns; and mother, Majorie Isabel Smith. She is survived by her three sons, Warren Vick and wife, Gloria of San Jose, CA, Darrell Phillips and wife, Dorothy of Santa Fe and Lee W. Phillips and wife, Judy of Albuquerque; and one daughter, Debbie C. Fike and husband, William of Albuquerque. Also surviving are two brothers, Gerald B. Arns of Chicago, IL and Billy Smith of Truth or Consequences, NM; two sisters, Rosemary Polizzi of Chicago, IL and Myra Arns of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, F. Eva Morris of Pecos, NM and brother-in-law Herman Phillips of Pecos, NM.¯ Claudia had six grandchildren, Valerie, Tanya, Tammy, Isaiah, Jim and Joshua; six great-grandchildren, Rachel, Andrea, Robert, Kristyn, Brandice and a new baby boy, yet to be born; many nieces and nephews; and friends. Sadock -- Dr. Theodore R. Sadock, 92, born in NYC on Nov 8, 1910 went to join his beloved wife, Kitty, on February 15, 2003. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Katherine V.M. Sadock on March 24, 1999 also by his parents, Morris and Ester Sadock; three brothers; Sam, Jim and Billy. Dr. Sadock is survived by his daughter, Ester Maria Sadock (Kukla) of San Diego, CA; his son, Theodore V. M. Sadock (Teo) of Albuquerque, Teo's beloved Kathy; and two grandchildren, Sean Dobbins and the sparkle in his life Alexandra Dobbins; his brother, Jules B. Sadock of NYC; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Sadock was a graduate of Union College in Schenectady, NY (class of 33) and Hahnemann Medical School of Philadelphia, PA, (class of 38). In 1940 Dr. Sadock began working for the U.S. Indian Service as only one of two doctors for the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. He transferred to the Albuquerque Indian Hospital in 1948. In 1950 he married Katherine Van Meter and they moved to NYC where he did his residency at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. They returned to Albuquerque in 1953 where he began his private practice specializing in Head and Neck plastic surgery and as an ENT physician. The Sadock's were very active socially especially in the artistic, medical and political communities. They loved to travel and went just about everywhere there was to go on this planet. We are sure that Kitty was waiting with bags packed and they are now exploring the far reaches of heaven together. Dr. Sadock retired in 1986 and will be remembered by the many patients whose lives he touched. The Sadock family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Frank Hesse for his help and guidance during Dr. Sadocks final months. A Memorial will be held at a later date for both He and Kitty. Sanchez -- Jose M. Sanchez, 92, born and raised in Las Nutrias, NM, later moving to Albuquerque, NM in 1945, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2003. He retired from Sandia Labs and was a member of Our Lady of¯ the Annunciation Church in Albuquerque, belonging to the Project Life Prayer Group who prayed for the rights of children. He retired from Sandia Labs after many years of dedicated service. Jose was well known by family and friends for his spirituality. He always practiced and taught his Catholic virtues to everyone, bringing his family even closer together. Loving his family with a passion was the most important thing in his life. He was a real people person, enjoying traveling, reading and listening to music. Jose's love for his wife, Corina was unconditional and was waiting for the day that he would join her again. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Corina R. Sanchez in 1992; two son's, Jose Vidal Sanchez in 1943 and Gil Jose Sanchez in 1940; one daughter, Gloria Jean Saks in 1981; three granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. two brothers, Manuel E. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services will be held at St. Edwin Catholic Church in Albuquerque with Father Bill Sanchez officiating. A viewing will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2003 at 5:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. A blessing will follow for Jose, in his old parish¯ church in which he was baptized, at San Isidro Mission, Las Nutrias, NM at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Las Nutrias Catholic Cemetery. Schmidt -- Alan Edward Schmidt, beloved son and brother, passed away on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2003. Alan was born on January 5, 1968 in Elmhurst, IL. He was a resident of Rio Rancho, NM coming from Broadview, IL. Alan was very fond of shooting pool with his friends. He was an avid Nascar Racing fan and enjoyed cheering on his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. Alan also loved spending time with his brother and watching basketball and football games. He could often be found sitting outside in his chair playing with his remote control car. Alan will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father Alan Ray Schmidt. Alan is survived by his loving mother, Irene; and step-father, Gary Collatz; his inseparable brother, Dennis; step-sister Kari Collatz; grandmother, Ruth Schmidt of Chicago IL; aunt Diane and uncle, Mario Bartucci of Wheaton, IL; and many more aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Sedillo -- Josie Sedillo, 90, born in Magdalena, New Mexico to a pioneer family and was a longtime resident of Albuquerque joined her husband, Severo married 65 years; her two sons, Carlos Emmett and Carlie James; daughter, Evelyn Mae; four sisters; and two brothers, in the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, February 19, 2003. She is survived by her two daughters, Crestina Chavez and husband, Teofilo and Annabell McAlonan and husband, Dale; sisters, Lee Richardson and Julia McVay; Josie was blessed with 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Skovira -- Anna V. Skovira, 89, a resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday, February 16, 2003. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ms. Skovira served in the United States Army for over 21 years as a Medical Surgery Nurse. She retired from the U.S. Army, January 1963. Sterba -- Ellen Jane (Jimmie) Sterba, 87, passed away on February 19, 2003. She was born in Pullman, Washington on July 4, 1915 to Dr. Frank O. Kreager, a university professor, and Marcie Iverson Kreager. She received her degree in Home Economics from LSU where she was also first chair violinist in the orchestra. Here she met and married Richard Sterba who became a career Air Force officer of 30 years leading the nomadic life they loved. In 1967, they retired in Albuquerque and she became active in Daughters of the American Revolution, the Retired Officers' Wives' Club, as well as being a substitute teacher. She was enthusiastic about her"plant room", rock-hounding with friends, horses, and having family and friends close. Jimmie was always eager to learn, travel, meet new people, and saw life as an adventure. She is survived by sons, John Sterba, Rob Sterba and wife, Marty, Jeff Sterba and wife, Janet; daughter, Susanne Sheridan and husband, Mike. She has five grandchildren, Matt and Lisa Sheridan, Katy, Dane, Rob, and Nate Sterba; two great-grandchildren, Nic Sheridan-Perez and Taylor Sterba; and longtime friends, Michi Longfellow and Col. Charles Lurie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to KNME or the Animal Humane Association.

Tafoya -- John B. Tafoya, 90, went home to with the Lord on February 20, 2003. He was born on June 17, 1912 in Los Lunas, NM. Mr. Tafoya is survived by his wife, Mercedes Tafoya; son, Richard Tafoya and wife, Sigrid; sister, Mela Gonzales of Los Lunas, NM; grandchildren, Carmela Tafoya, Lisa Tafoya (Yatman), Debra Loftin and Rose Marie Marrujo; great-grandchildren, Miles Loftin and Anthony Marrujo; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Tafoya will be deeply missed by his loving family. Visitations will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Eighth Street Chapel of Garcia Mortuary with a Rosary to be recited on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be recited on Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the San Felipe De Neri Catholic Church. Wilmes -- BARBARA ANN WILMES beloved mother and cherished friend sadly left us on February 17, 2003.
