Jones -- James Harold Jones, 79, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past twelve years, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2003. James was born June 13, 1923 the son of William and Mabel Kelbaugh Jones in Baltimore, Maryland. He had been a Quality Control Engineer in Research and Development with the Sandia National Labs before he retired. James was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia in 1991. He is survived by his children, Jo Haas and husband Glen of Plano, TX, Pam Strickler and husband Richard of Santa Fe, NM, and James Jones, Jr. of Albuquerque; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mcalister -- Jamie McAlister, a resident of Albuquerque from 1982 to 1992, died unexpectedly at her home in Phoenix, Arizona on February 26, 2003. Despite a congenital hearing problem that caused her to become completely deaf by age 35, Jamie graduated second in her class in 1992 at the University of New Mexico Law School. She was a member of the State Bar of Arizona and a Criminal Defense Attorney, having worked for Meyer, Hendricks, Victor, Osborn & Maledon, and the Maricopa County Public Defender; then solo practice. Jamie was a former minister and had pastored several churches throughout the country. She is survived by her partner, Nancy McAlister; daughter, Amanda, 11; son, Andrew, 8; mother, Joyce Hendrickson; father, Carl James; sister, Carolyn Gianinni; brothers, Brent, Alan, Blair and Greg James. Family and friends gathered to celebrate Jamie's life on March 8, 2003 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 2310 N. 56th Street, Phoenix, Arizona. Turner -- Juana"Jo" Turner, 62, and a resident of the Albuquerque area for 40 years, died on March 19, 2003. She was born in Childress County, TX to James Otto and Vera Beatrice Pangle DeShazo. She graduated from Lubbock High School. Jo will be remembered as a lover of dogs. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ben in 1999 and her two brothers, Rockne and Rondie. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty J. DeShazo; her two nieces, Kathryn Brady of Fredericksburg, TX and Christie Vinson of Lubbock, TX; a nephew, Todd DeShazo of Lubbock, TX; and close friends, Doug and Veloy Franklin. Bykowski -- Florence Bykowski, 82, a resident of Rio Rancho since 1972, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2003. Florence was born August 18, 1920 the daughter of John and Helen Magiera in Newark, New Jersey. She was a very active member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, and was a member of the Rosary/Alter Society. Florence was married to Stanley Bykowski on October 15, 1939 and he preceded her in death in December of 1991. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Heinemann in January 2001. She is survived by her children, Elaine Bykowski of Boynton Beach, FL, James Bykowski and wife, Linda of Fanwood, NJ, John Bykowski and wife, Lorraine of Florida, and son-in-law, Max Heinemann of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Mark Heinemann and wife, Darlene of Ruidoso, NM, Michael Heinemann and wife, Susan of Jackson, MI, James Bykowski, Jr. of New Brunswick, NJ, David Bykowski of College Park, MD; four great-grandchildren, Corine, Robin, and Shiela Heinemann of Ruidoso, NM, and Hunter Heinemann of Jackson, MI. The Visitation for Florence will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2003 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho, with the Rosary being recited at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, with the interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Crawford -- Margaret Vandervort Crawford, 93, a resident of Albuquerque for 33 years, died Thursday, March 20, 2003. She is survived by her nieces, Nancy Ann Wormeli and husband, Paul of Reston, VA, Martha Elizabeth Meister and husband, John David of Albuquerque, Barbara Kenney of Barrington, IL; nephew, William Britt of Terre Haute, IN; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Terwilliger of Albuquerque; stepsons, Gary Crawford of Santa Barbara, CA, Robert Crawford of Reston, VA, and David Crawford of San Francisco, CA; stepdaughter, Mary Dalla Betta of Wuerzbury, Germany; and special friends, Marilyn McDonald of Palo Alto, CA and Mary Kate Parris of Sand Springs, OK; She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Dwight Vandervort; son, James Kenneth Vandervort; second husband, Bonner Crawford; parents, James Clyde and Enola Mae Terwilliger; sister, Ruth Blakey; and brother, A. Richard Terwilliger. She was a member and past president of AW Chapter PEO for many years. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she was one of the founders for the Sunbonnet Shop. Her first husband, Kenneth Dwight Vandervort was employed by Amerada Oil Co., which resulted in their living in Africa and traveling extensively. Rospopo -- Peter Gregory Rospopo, 83, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away after a short illness, March 19, 2003. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; his son, James of Albuquerque; his son, Steven and his wife, Donna, of Albuquerque; and his two grandchildren, Katarina and Michael, of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his brother, John Rospo of Upper Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Peter was born in Akron, Ohio in 1919, orphaned at a young age, survived the great depression, and became a tool and die maker. He relocated in 1944 from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Los Alamos, New Mexico, where he was proud to have served his country on the Manhattan Project at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. He relocated to Albuquerque in 1950, where he worked at the Sandia National Laboratory until his retirement in 1983 after 37 years of service. Peter will be remembered for his good humor, smile, his work ethic, and his devotion to his family. Peter was deeply loved by his family and friends and will be missed by all. No prayer or funeral service is planned at this time and interment will be at a later date. Peter and Mary have chosen to honor their lives together in the New Mexico Mountains they grew to love, and interment of both of their remains will be in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Triplett -- Olester Triplett, 90, Albuquerque, NM, formerly of Hobbs, NM, died 3:00 p.m., Monday, March 17, 2003 at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico, Albuquerque. Mrs. Triplett was born February 9, 1913 in Macon, Mississippi. She married Tom Triplett on January 3, 1932 in Macon, Mississippi and to this union were born two sons and a daughter. Mrs. Triplett loved to read and sew. She lived in Hobbs, NM for 22 years before moving to Albuquerque in 2000 to be near her daughter. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church in Albuquerque. She is survived by one son, Roosevelt Triplett of Quitman, TX; one daughter, Mary Lewis of Albuquerque; one sister, Lula Lewis of Blytheville, AK; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Bill and Emma Lawson Jr.; one son, Billy James Triplett; three sisters, Hattie Tate, Willie Jackson and Codellia Lawson; one brother, William Lawson Jr.; and two grandsons, Tyrone Triplett and Victor Tate. Visitation will be held Friday, March 21, 2003 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Funeral Services fro Mrs. Triplett will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2003 at the Pleasant Green Baptist Church in Hobbs, NM with Pastor R.B. Hill officiating and Pastor Dave Walker assisting. Burial will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, Hobbs, NM.

Barry -- Helen Barry, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, died in Seattle, WA, Monday, March 17, 2003 where she lived with her son's family since 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Pecha and husband, James of Albuquerque, son, Robert Barry and wife, Nancy of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Alex and Elizabeth Barry; and sister, Angela Williams of Ruston, LA. Mrs. Barry was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 40 years, Robert Barry in 1981. She was born May 22, 1913 in Ruston, LA. She was a 4th grade teacher at Bel Air, Tomasita and Sombre del Monte Elementary Schools in Albuquerque for over 35 years. Mrs. Barry was a Charter Member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church. All who knew her were touched by her gentle compassion and we all are better people for having known her.
