Mcalister -- Jamie McAlister, a resident of Albuquerque from 1982 to 1992, died unexpectedly at her home in Phoenix, Arizona on February 26, 2003. Despite a congenital hearing problem that caused her to become completely deaf by age 35, Jamie graduated second in her class in 1992 at the University of New Mexico Law School. She was a member of the State Bar of Arizona and a Criminal Defense Attorney, having worked for Meyer, Hendricks, Victor, Osborn & Maledon, and the Maricopa County Public Defender; then solo practice. Jamie was a former minister and had pastored several churches throughout the country. She is survived by her partner, Nancy McAlister; daughter, Amanda, 11; son, Andrew, 8; mother, Joyce Hendrickson; father, Carl James; sister, Carolyn Gianinni; brothers, Brent, Alan, Blair and Greg James. Family and friends gathered to celebrate Jamie's life on March 8, 2003 at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 2310 N. 56th Street, Phoenix, Arizona.
