LANEAR -- Amos LaNear Love is Eternal Memories are Forever Amos LaNear, 71, of Granite City, IL, born October 19, 1937, in Albuquerque, NM, died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. A long-time resident of Albuquerque, he made many friends here. He devoted his life to being an independent truck driver and in his final years having his own company, AJA Trucking. In his spare time he enjoyed photography, painting and fishing. He was an avid gardener spreading his love with giving flowers to all who touched him. Amos was preceded in death by his parents, John and Leila; and his son, Johnny. Surviving are seven children, Leila LaNear of Texas, Sabrina LaNear of Oregon, Danielle LaNear of California, Debbie Branson of Texas, Dean Tomlinson of Missouri, Amy Jo LaNear of New Mexico and Amos LaNear III of Illinois; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Latir Hernandez of Colorado and Rette Thomas of California; four nieces and two nephews. A small gathering of family and friends was held in Granite City on August 29, 2009. As a Naval Veteran the Honor Guard Service will be held at a later date.

MARTINEZ -- Martin Martinez was born December 2, 1925 in Maxwell, New Mexico. He passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2009, in Albuquerque, at the age of 82. Martin was preceded in death by his sons, Oliver Martinez, David Martinez and wife Lena. He is survived by his daughters, Mary Garcia and husband Jr., Cruzita Gonzales and husband Joe, Perta Martinez and husband Perfecto and Libby Martinez; sons, Johnny Martinez and wife Cynthia, Joe Martinez and wife Mary, Dragon Martinez, Michael Martinez and wife Michelle and Jessie Martinez; brother, Simon Martinez; grandchildren, Angel Martinez and Frankie Romero who loved him very much and will miss him dearly; 36 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. The Funeral Services will held at New Beginnings Church, Montgomery and Carlisle NE. on Friday, September 4, 2009. The Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Edith and Ranchitos NW. Pallbearers will be Frankie Martinez Jr., Gilbert Martinez, Tony Garcia, Tony Garcia Jr., Michael F. Romero, Dragon Martinez Jr., Monique Sedillo and Oliver Junior. SALAS -- Desiderio Salas, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, NM for forty years, passed away into our Heavenly Father's arms on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Salas was born on October 13, 1939 to Ignacio and Rosita (Gabaldon) Salas of Torreon, NM. He also served our country in the U.S. Armed Forces. He was preceded in death by his father, Ignacio Salas. Mr. Salas retired from the City of Albuquerque after 25 years of service as a construction supervisor. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Angie (Sedillo) Salas; sons, Gerald Salas and his wife, Charmaine, of AZ, Johnny Salas of Albuquerque, and Chris Salas and fiance, Sara, of Chicago, IL; his mother, Rosita Salas; three grandchildren, Gabrielle Salas, Claudia Salas, and Casey Salas; siblings, Lita (Abraham), Mary (Sam), Ignacio, Jimmy, Macario (Lucille), Bertha (Elfigo), Herman, and Donna (Gary). A Viewing and Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave SE. PEDERSON -- Gary Pederson, 67, passed away on August 17, 2009. He was born December 24, 1941, in Bismarck, ND, to Wes and Velma Hall. Gary was adopted at age six, by Sig and Gunda Pederson, and raised in Grand Forks, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his infant daughter, Shauna Rae. Gary is survived by his daughters, Stacy Cheshire and her husband Rob, of Camp Lejeune, NC, Stephanie Ferner and husband Jeff , of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, William and Max Cheshire, Tavin and Cheyenne Ferner; his brother, Leon Wedar and wife LaVonne, of Minot, ND; his sister, Barbara Harris, of Bismarck, ND; numerous nieces and nephews; and ex-wife, Carolyn. He served in the Army from 1959 to 1963 with honorable discharge. Gary worked in construction building a home in ND, and then worked for Minnesota Dairy. In 1973 he moved to Santa Fe, NM and was a service manager for Cimino's Santa Fe Mazda Volvo. Later Gary went to work for Volvo line as Service Manager and was instrumental in the dealership and its move to a new facility. In 1981, he moved to Albuquerque and began a successful career with Snap-On-Tools. In 1991 he began an association with National Tools. Many of the younger dealers would come to him for advice. He retired in 2005. Gary always had a joke and a hearty laugh. He loved anything related to car racing or Johnny Cash. He would always go out of his way to help others and to lend a helping hand. Services will be held Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, Wyoming Chapel, at 2:00 p.m., Visitation to follow. Burial will take place on Monday, August 31, 2009, at 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. SMITH -- Gary Smith, 50, passed away quietly with his family by his side on Monday, August 17, 2009. Gary was born in Borger, TX on July 19, 1959 to Joseph H. and Jewel Ruth (Overman) Smith. Gary proudly served his country in the United States Air force for over 20 years and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1996. He is preceded in death by his father Joe and sisters Judy and Ramona. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Jeanie, sons Dennis Smith and Gary Smith II and wife Mari; grandchildren Gary III and Katie Anne. Also surviving his mother Jewel Smith and sister Joyce Cardon and husband Butch all of Farmington, NM, and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family. Gary will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted family.
