Clair -- Eugenia G. Clair, 82, a resident of Albuquerque from 1984-1998, died on Friday, January 1, 1999. She is survived by her son, William A. Garnand and wife, Anita of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Alexandria Garnand, Donna Carstens and husband, Calvin, David Garnand, Dorothy Garnand, Mary Garnand, Rachel Garnand, and Irene Garnand; great-grandchildren, Nicole Pinkney, Cecilia Carstens, Raquel Garnand, Izaac Garnand, and Angelique Garnand, all of Albuquerque; and son, John J. Garnand of Longmont, CO. Mrs. Clair was a member of Our Lady of The Annunciation Catholic Church, where she was active with the Golden Agers. Coffield -- Michael J. Coffield, Colonel, USAF Retired, a 23 year resident of this city, died January 4, 1999. Colonel Coffield was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1911. He was educated in California. After graduating from the University of California at Berkeley with an engineering degree, he entered the Army Air Corps Flying School in 1935. He was a survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor and served in the South Pacific and Italy during WWII. After retiring from the Air Force in 1961, Colonel Coffield was a commercial pilot and flight instructor. He worked as a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America for 20 years. He belonged to the American Institute of Industrial Engineers, the Civil Air Patrol, the Sierra Club, the American Civil Liberties Union, Sister Cities, the Japanese American Citizens League, and the Society for the Preservation of the Subjunctive. Colonel Coffield is survived by his wife, Dr. Gene Coffield; sons, James and wife, Lorraine of Albuquerque, Mike and wife, Lorna of Oakland, CA, and Mark of Corvallis, OR; brothers, Monsignor John V. of San Clemente, CA and Vernon L. of Marina Del Rey, CA; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements by Sunrise Society of New Mexico. Memorial service and interment will be held at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full Military Honors on January 11 at 1:30 p.m. After the service, friends and relatives are invited to share in a celebration of Michael's life at Jim and Lorraine's home at 4:30 p.m.

Gradi -- Carl Lewis Gradi, age 63, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. from complications of metastasized cancer. Carl was born in Albuquerque. He attended St. Anthony's Boy's School. He served in the National Guard and spent his professional career in the trucking industry. Carl was preceded in death by his father, Leo Gradi of Albuquerque; his mother, Jean Hellan; his son, Clifford; and his brother, David. Carl is survived by several cousins, aunts and uncles of the Jones, Giomi and Domenici families. Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 8, 10:00 a.m., at Glory Bound Ministries, 11913 Menaul NE.

Keefe -- Cleo E. Keefe, 95, a resident of Albuquerque for nine years, died on Wednesday, January 6, 1999. She is survived by her children, Clinton Kiddie and wife, Juanita of Colorado Springs, CO, Emily Dean Turner of Denver, CO, Andy Kiddie and wife, Bernita of San Diego, CA, Shirley Jean Dombrowski and husband, Bill of Temperance, MI, Kenneth Kiddie and wife, Renee of Las Vegas, NV, Kathryn Fredrickson of Boulder, CO, and Donald Keefe and wife, Denise of Albuquerque; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Keefe was preceded in death by her husband, in 1964; son, Ray Kiddie in 1987; and two infant children. Knight -- Liam A. Knight, 6, a resident of Corrales, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 1999. Liam was born August 28, 1992, the son of Al and Mel Lawlor Knight in Albuquerque. Liam is survived by his parents, Al and Mel Knight of Corrales; grandmothers, Margaret Lawlor of Chicago, IL, and Nadine Bottemly of Tulsa, OK; brother, Austin Knight; and sister, Chelsea Knight of Corrales. A Rosary will be recited for Liam this evening, Friday, January 8, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. in THE CHAPEL OF RIO RANCHO FUNERAL HOME, 2400 SOUTHERN BLVD., RIO RANCHO. Layton -- Robert (Guana) Lee Layton, 51, born January 26, 1947, to Ruthie McGhee and Lee Layton in Kansas City, Missouri, passed away December 30, 1998. He attended Albuquerque High School where he was #1 in several different sports. He has records that are still unbroken. He leaves to mourn Jerrie Campbell Gibson of Albuquerque, Erma Jones, Joyce Reynolds, Brenda Blueford, Linda Blueford, Patricia Blueford, Nita Blueford, Sandra McGhee of Phoenix, AZ, Lonnie McGhee, Ronald McGhee and Jack McGhee of Albuquerque; a host of nieces and nephews. Williams of Albuquerque; daughters, Earry Schray and husband, Steve of Albuquerque, Patricia A. Gutierrez (Patty's Corner) and husband, Phillip of Belen, NM, and Roseanna Bacon of Albuquerque. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Steven, Carey, Richard and Arliegh Schray, all of Albuquerque, Phillip, Debbie Sue, Sean and Brenda Gutierrez, all of Gallup, NM, Deborah and Joe Martinez, also of Gallup, NM, Michael A. Morelos -- Joseph Anthony Morelos died Wednesday in Albuquerque at the age of 20. He is survived by his father, Joseph Anthony Morelos and wife, Mary Anne of Bernalillo, NM; mother, Angela Fernandez Diedrich and husband, Richard of Albuquerque; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Morelos of Albuquerque, Mr. and Mrs. Joe F. Fernandez of Albuquerque, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Diedrich of Seattle, WA; sisters, Salisha Morelos of Bernalillo, Denine Morelos, Andrea Diedrich and Arnika Diedrich, all of Albuquerque; brothers, David Diedrich and Matthias Diedrich; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins. Funeral services for Anthony will be held on Saturday at the St. Anne Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Myers -- Robert Evan Myers, Lt. Col. (Ret.), a resident of Albuquerque, was born on Wednesday, April 18, 1923 in Chicago, IL and died Tuesday, January 5, 1999. Mr. Myers was a graduate of Billings Senior High School, Class of 1941, Billings, MT. He graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Montana State University, Bozeman, MT in 1949. He retired from the United States Air Force in 1975 after 33 years of service, having served during WWII and both Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He was a pilot and aircraft commander, flying B-24s, B-29s, C-97s, and C-130s. He also served the Air Force in research, development, and installation activities related to aircraft fueling, inter-continental ballistic missiles, and laser guided munitions. After retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Myers began a second career in construction and carpentry, working as a general contractor. Mr. Myers researched his family history and was very active in the Albuquerque Genealogy Club. He was an avid bridge player and a member of Bear Creek Senior Center. He was a 32nd degree Mason in Billings Lodge A.F. & A.M. and was a Shriner. He was active in scouting when his children were young. Mr. Myers was a member of Sandia Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Norma J. of the family home; daughters, Dr. Cynthia J. Myers of Los Angeles, CA, Dr. Candace A. Myers and husband, Dr. James K. Luce of Amarillo, TX, Cassandra Myers-Warner and husband, J.W. Warner of Albuquerque, and adopted daughter, Deborah A. Fowler of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter, Deidre Schaefer and husband, Peter C. of Berkley Springs, WV; great-granddaughter, Victoria Schaefer of Berkley Springs, WV; sister, Claire Blurton of Reno, NV; and many other relatives. Memorial services will be held Friday, January 8, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Rev. Dewey Johnson officiating.
