WARNKE, TERRY P. Terry Porter Warnke, professional engineer and former owner of Piano Source, died after a brief but courageous battle with leukemia on Thursday, September 4, 2014. Terry was born on September 20, 1938, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Vera and Larry Warnke and grew up on a rural farm in La Porte, Indiana. He graduated salutatorian from La Porte High School in 1956. He continued his education at Purdue University and received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in electrical engineering. He played clarinet in the Purdue marching band throughout college, where the band played each year at the Indianapolis 500 opening ceremonies. In 1960, he married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Cumerford. Following graduation, they moved to Albuquerque, NM, and Terry worked at Sandia National Laboratories. From there, he worked at Kodak in Rochester, New York on the lunar orbiter program plotting Apollo landing sites on the moon. Terry and Cheryl returned to New Mexico, where he joined Public Service Company of New Mexico in 1969 as a special project engineer. Terry was an exceptional engineer, rising to District Vice President of PNM, owning two engineering firms and traveling the world. Upon return to New Mexico, he worked as Manager of Electrical Engineering at Bridgers & Paxton, sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience in electrical design and management. After retirement, he continued to do consulting and design for various projects with other engineers. WILLIAMS, RICHARD D. Richard David Williams, died suddenly on Sept. 9, 2014, at home in Albuquerque in his favorite chair. The silver tongued devil of Osbourne street, Artesia NM learned the newspaper business at 8 years old, by the neighborhood gossip and news and handing it out to every house. He was born to Amy and Kenneth Williams on Dec. 11, 1942 and kept everyone entertained and laughing throughout his life. He worked as the police beat, politics, and business reporter and editor of the Albuquerque Tribune. Working at Amrep SW, he continued writing, but from a new perspective as a public information officer. He was more than respected as the politics column writer and reporter. It was not a joke that the right or wrong comment from Williams kept politicians genuflecting to him. He was famous for his "Holbroke joke." His wife, Madeline Dunn, was quoted as saying she married him because he was the funniest, wittiest, smartest, most cynical person she ever met. His grandchildren and his family adored him. He said his heart was filled with more love for his grandchildren than anyone deserved. And he said he was the luckiest person who ever lived. He was a graduate of Texas Tech and earned an MBA at UNM. Surviving him are his wife, Madeline Dunn Williams, children Cynthia Burleson (Tom), Jennifer Williams, Ronit Robinson, Dina Dogin (Joshua), Abra Altman (Brandon), and 9 grandchildren, Cailey, Weston, Stephanie, Hannah, Benjamin, Aiden, Naomi, Meira, and Finley. Services will be held at Congregation B'nai Israel at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 12, 2014 at 4401 Indian School N.E. No flowers please. Contributions to the Jewish Academy of Arts and Sciences and Congregation B'nai Israel in his memory are appreciated. Please visit our online guestbook for Richard at www.FrenchFunerals.com FRENCH - University 1111 University Blvd. NE 505-843-6333
