ABRAMS, JONATHAN Jonathan Abrams, MD, born in New York City on February 15, 1939, transitioned from his life on earth on July 18, 2014. He is survived by his daughters, Wendy Paige Abrams, her husband Scott Fliegel and granddaughter Emma Bronte Fliegel; Melissa Ambrose, her wife Pamela Ambrose; partner Nancy Whalen; long-time friend, Jan Afton; and former wife, Fay Abrams. Jon touched many, many lives as a friend, cardiologist, tennis player, supporter of the arts, skier and traveler. Jonathan graduated from Beverly Hills High School in 1956; the University of California, Berkeley, (BA 1960), where he was a member of and president of Zeta Beta Tau and elected to Phi Beta Kappa; the University of California Medical School in San Francisco, (MD 1964). At UCSF he was the recipient of the Roche Award and elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, honor society. Dr Abrams completed his internship and 1st year of residency (1964 to 1966) on the Harvard service of Boston City Hospital; he then did one year of medical residency/cardiology at the West Roxbury Veterans Administration Hospital. From 1967 to 1968, Jonathan was a cardiology fellow and mentored by W Proctor Harvey at Georgetown University Medical School in Washington DC. In 1968, Dr Abrams came as an Army Captain to Albuquerque to serve as the cardiologist at the Sandia Base (now Kirtland East) hospital. He completed his armed forces service as a Major in mid 1970. Having chosen to stay in New Mexico, Jonathan began his long association with the VA Hospital and then BCMC (now UNM Hospital). A highly regarded cardiologist, Dr, Abrams traveled the world to speak at medical conferences. He was known for his compassionate concern for patients and their families. Dr Abrams retired in October, 2008, from UNM Medical center, where he served as a cardiologist and chief of cardiology 1976 to 1991. Jon's passion for art and artists greatly benefitted the arts in Albuquerque and New Mexico. Jonathan, with his then-wife Fay Abrams, developed a large art collection with work primarily by New Mexico artists. He started the sculpture garden at the Museum of Albuquerque and the collection at UNM Hospital. He and Ms. Abrams donated many pieces of art to UNM, the Albuquerque Museum, the Art Museum of New Mexico in Santa Fe, and the Capitol Art Collection. In 2000, Jonathan received the Governor's Arts Award. He was able to meld his love of cardiology with his love of art when he convinced artist Jim Dine to provide a heart drawing for the cover of Dr. Abrams' cardiology textbook. His legendary sense of humor delighted friends, family and colleagues. Jonathan Abrams community builder, champion of art and artists, loving, supportive and loyal friend beyond compare; a truly amazing man who deeply impacted the lives of his friends, patients, colleagues and the many diverse communities he gathered around him. ATENCIO, TOMAS C. Age 81, died peacefully on July 16, 2014 after a journey with dementia with Lewy Bodies. He was born on October 1, 1932 in Embudo, New Mexico to the Rev. Tomas Atencio and Bernardita Roybal Atencio. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Consuelo Pacheco; his children Imelda Atencio, Melina Atencio Romero and husband Fred, Tomas Atencio-Pacheco and wife Milagro, and Chamiza Pacheco de Alas and husband Eduardo; his brothers Ernesto Atencio and wife Annabelle and Amos Atencio and wife Joann; seven beloved grandchildren; dear nieces and nephews; and many friends. He occupied a myriad of roles in his life: a Marine in the Korean War, a child welfare worker, a migrant worker organizer, a woodworker, and a scholar and teacher at the University of New Mexico. Tomas had a profound and abiding love of New Mexico, was a fierce advocate of social justice for the disenfranchised, and a loyal friend. He will be missed, but is at peace. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at San Felipe de Neri Parish on Friday, July 25, 2014 at 10AM; and a memorial service will be held at the Embudo Presbyterian Church on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11AM in his hometown of Dixon, New Mexico. FRANCE, AGNES H. France, Agnes Henrietta Kudrna, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2014 at the age of 93. Agnes was born in Omaha, Nebraska on December 7, 1920. She was born, raised and a lifetime member of the Roman Catholic Church. Anges was preceded in death by her Father, Ernest Kudrna of Austria, and her Mother, Rose Smolinski Kudrna of Poland. Agnes is survived by her one and only beloved husband of 57 years, George A. France, Jr. Agnes graduated from Boyles College in Omaha in 1939. She enlisted in the U.S. Naval Service - Coast Guard in 1944, she completed Yeoman School and attended the Cleveland College of Psychology. Agnes served as a Yeoman First Class in the U.S. Coast Guard as a stenographer under the D.O.T. Agnes received her Honorable Discharge in June 1946. She continued her career with the U.S. Army, 7th Command in Omaha, Nebraska and the U.S. Air Force, Benjamin Harrison AFB, Indiana. Agnes was very gifted and talented with handcrafts and art; she loved oil painting pictures of nature, flowers and many of their dearly loved pets. GRIEGO, STEVE BELARAMINO "BILLY" Age 46, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on June 11, 1968, to Armando and Vivian Griego. He was preceded in death by his brother, Locario "Luckie" Griego. Steve is survived by wife, Cynthia M. HULBERT, JOHN DAVID (ZOOMER) of Grants, New Mexico passed from this life July 13, 2014 in the presence of his family and loved ones and is now at peace with the world. He is mourned by his wife Jean; daughter Spring' grandson Gabe; and great-grandchildren Sam, Emma and Ali; sisters, Mary Louise Holly (Kent, OH) and Margaret Kate Hulbert (Tuscon, AZ). They share the loss with the many, many friends who were touched by his life. Zoomer was born to Kenneth and Helen Hulbert in Kent/Ravenna Ohio, December 10, 1948. After graduating high school, he started a multifaceted career path that invariably involved motor vehicles. Though motorcycles held a special place for Zoomer, whether it had two wheels or eighteen, he probably owned it or drove it and if it had an engine, he could fix it. His ultimate professional satisfaction came with his graduation from college and career as a teacher of special children when he began at age 50. As a man who had goals in life that were advanced and accomplished over decades, he was rare in his ability to relish, enjoy and truly live life in each passing hour. A very self-directed and personal individual, Zoomer touched many with an authenticity that was simple and magical for those near him and his kindness and generosity was a gift to friend and stranger alike. As Zoomer wished, there will be no funeral, but a coming-together celebration of his life at a time soon to be determined. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution should do so with the spirit Zoomer would have wanted: Pay It Forward. Give help to someone who needs it and think of your giving as done on the behalf of Zoomer.

MCCREADY, LUIE V. Age71, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 12, 2014, in Wichita, Kansas. After suffering with cancer, he is now out of pain and at rest. He is survived by his mother, Wanda; two sons, Troy and Scott; one step-daughter; ten grandchildren; and numerous siblings.

MO, GARY MICHAEL Born March 17, 1944 in MacDill Field, FL to Charles Luck Mo and Ruth Mae Dubois Childs, lost his courageous battle with lung cancer on July 15, 2014. Raised in a military family, he enlisted into the US Air Force at the age of 18. He served and traveled extensively during his early military career prior to meeting his future wife Louella while stationed at Holloman AFB, NM. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Louella; three daughters Glenda, Elizabeth, Audrey and husband James; grandchildren Kristofer, Jade, Brittany, Lynee' and fiance Kevin, Jacob, Nicholas, Ryan; and great-granddaughter, AndraLeigha. He is also survived by his brothers Charles Mo, Wayne Mo and wife Joanne; in-laws Alice & Adam Tapia, Joe Sanchez, Georgia and Fred Barrett, Elaine and Leo Otero, Deb and Kirk Willford, Steve & Dianna Sanchez, as well as numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles & Ruth Mo and many other close and loving relatives. Gary was a kind and giving soul, loved by everyone in his life. He was a smart and articulate man with many talents. His artistic nature helped him create countless works of ceramic art which we all enjoyed. He earned his college degree from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. He proudly served his country and retired in Albuquerque, NM from the US Air Force after a 20 year career. He then went on to a 15 year career with the US Postal Service. He spent his short retirement with his family traveling and enjoying his free time. A rosary in his honor will be recited on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral mass to follow immediately after the rosary at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Santa Fe. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. Pallbearers will be James Lopez, Kristofer Vigil, Fred Barrett, Steve Sanchez, Leo Otero and Kirk Willford. Gary will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

ROSS, LUCY WILSON Lucille Wilson Ross, 63, passed away unexpectedly July 13, 2014. Lucy is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jonathon Ross; Sons Jason, Matthew and Joseph; grandchildren Kai, Jayce, Morgan, Sydney and Caden; Brother Larry Wilson and Sister Pat Blotsky. She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Ruby Wilson and Brother Richard. Lucy was a loving wife, mother, grandma and friend. Her quick wit, beautiful smile, piercing blue eyes, and loving heart will be missed by all who knew her. Lucy exemplified selflessness with the warmest heart to everyone she met.
