ARTERBURN, AUDEL E. "DEL" age 73, a resident of Valencia, NM, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Peralta. Del was married to his loving wife, Mary Lou for almost 45 years. He was a former member of the Belen Elks Lodge 2499. While his permanent residence was in Valencia, his part-time residence was Isleta Casino. Del was preceded in death by his father, John Arterburn; and his mother, Arzena Arterburn. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Arterburn; Wayne Arterburn whom he considered a son; John Arterburn whom he held close to his heart; his brother, Ellis and wife, Carina; sister, Pat and brother, Monty; and numerous brothers, sisters, sister-in-law and loving nieces and nephews. All services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Saturday, June 14, 2014, beginning with visitation at 10:00 AM. BACA, ANDREW "JAMES" Birthday, 12/9/1974: Andrew "James" Baca (aliases: Jaime, Jimbo, Jamebo, Jimbolicious, J. Dog, etc.) left to pave the way for us in Heaven on Wednesday, June 04, 2014, at the young age of 39. As "God's gift to women", James lived life to the fullest and enjoyed drinking cold ones with family and friends and also worked 17 years as the finest "Waste Sanitation Disposal Engineer". He wore many hats during his time with us on earth (Son, Brother, Daddy, Uncle, Cuzz, Comedian, and Friend, etc.). James will never be forgotten for his witty charm & unique style. James' pride and joy was his 20-year old "Baby Girl" (Alexandria (Alex) Baca). He always made it known to everyone that Alex is the most beautiful, smart, and talented girl EVER and that he had a hand in making her. As James' true reason for happiness, Alexandria, please remember your daddy loved you dearly and will be with you in your thoughts, prayers, spirit, and basically anytime you need a laugh. Besides his beautiful daughter, James had numerous family and friends to surround his "never a dull minute" world. His mom, Rachael; dad, Andres; three sisters (Andrea and his two nephews, Mikey and Lorenzo; Patricia (& niece, baby Isabella on the way); and Yvonne (with husband, Johnny and his nephews, Johnny Jr., Joshua (his godson), and Justin). As James was a lifelong North Valley resident, he had many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that will remember the late night calls, funny jokes, and crazy references to unrepeatable sayings. James had a love for pushing the envelope on many things including being the daredevil, telling tales with friends while sharing beverages of his choice, speaking his mind, hunting, fishing, eating mom's tamale pie, watching TV in dad's garage with Cowgirl, and watching the Denver Broncos (except for the Super Bowl XLVIII). BELLOW, JOSEPH D. Joseph Donald "JD" Bellow, deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed from this life to everlasting life with our Lord Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, June 9, 2014 at the age of 82. He was born on September 7, 1931 to Pierre Bellow and Ivey in Gid, Louisiana. In his adult life he worked on the tug boats on the Mississippi River, until he developed asthma and moved to New Mexico. JD began working for El Paso Natural Gas. Then he worked as an Iron worker Local 495 where he retired. He then worked at Vista Del Rio Mobile Home as a manager. JD had a love for the great outdoors, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and four wheeler riding. He is survived by his loving wife of almost fifty-seven years, Joanne James Bellow; two daughters, Sue Bland and husband, David, Estelle Pavioni and husband, Kasey. He was a proud grandfather of Amanda Sanchez and husband Juan, Bonnie Bland and fiance Mark Horstmann, Sara Gallegos and husband Josue, Jesse Bland and wife Jenna, Aaron Smith and wife Amber, Rachel Smith and fiance Joe Trujillo, Aubrey Alguire and husband Robert; great-grandchildren, Luke Sanchez, Hailey Bland, Augustus Sanchez, Bethany Gallegos, Morgan Bland, Emily Gallegos, Shannon Bland, Leandra Alguire, Brooke Alguire, Caleb Gallegos, Vivana Trujillo, and LaLaine Smith. BRIGGS, ALLAN D. Age 88, died June 8, 2014 peacefully at his home. He was born December 4, 1925 in Denver, CO. Dale, as he was known, is survived by his devoted wife of almost 59 years, Juanita Briggs; his two daughters, Colleen Leseberg and husband Dewey Leseberg, and Sharon Esquibel and husband Joe Esquibel; five grandchildren, Kenny Leseberg, Daniel Leseberg and wife Caitlin Leseberg, Christopher Esquibel, Marc Esquibel and Kelly Esquibel, all from Albuquerque and the surrounding area, brother, Dean Briggs of Denver, CO; and nieces and nephews. Dale grew up on a farm in Wheatridge, CO. He was drafted into the Army and served his country in the Philippines during WWII as a military policeman. After serving his country, he came back home to Wheatridge, CO where he met and married Juanita Mader in 1955. Dale worked for White House Decorating Company doing construction repair work on homes and commercial buildings. Dale moved his family to Albuquerque in 1967 to work as a construction superintendent with the Bureau of Indian Affairs until retirement many years later. He also built spec homes during evenings and weekends. When Dale was in his early 70's, he built the home where he and Juanita have lived for the last 15 years. He was known as someone who could build anything, grow anything and fix anything. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, doing Sudoku puzzles, playing rummy, gardening, going to auctions and working on cars, especially his Model A. He also enjoyed driving his 1940's International Farm tractor. Dale and Juanita belonged to the Model A Club, Poco Quatros. Dale was a loving husband, father, grandfather and will be dearly missed. A Celebration of his life will be held Friday, June 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. A reception will follow at the home of Juanita Briggs. CHINISCI, MARISSA M. Marisa (Giuntoli) Chinisci passed away on June 7, 2014 in Denver, Colorado. She was born in Montecatini Terme, Italy and came to the United States in 1947. She moved from Chicago and made Albuquerque, New Mexico her home in 1949. In December 2012, she went to live in Denver. She was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her three sons. Robert (Michelle) of Denver, CO., Richard (Georgia) of Denver, CO and Frank (Gigi) of Albuquerque, NM. ERBERT, VIRGIL Age 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 9, 2014. He is survived by his children, Constance Romero and husband, John, Sandy Ricci and husband, Jamie, Vickie Grebe and husband, Dick, and Gaylen Erbert and wife, Beth; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Erbert in 2006; great-grandson, Tyson Healy; and brother, Clarence Erbert. Virgil was born in 1924 in Ellis, KS and after graduation from high school, entered the United States Navy where he proudly served during WWII and the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he started his own business in Hays, KS, Erbert Electric Machinery. He also attended Ft. Hays State College and received his BS in Physics and Mathematics. On the day of graduation he was hired by Sandia Laboratories where he worked for over 30 years until his retirement. Virgil was a member of MENSA and had many patents for scientific inventions. He continued to be active, even in later years. Virgil enjoyed his workshop, reading books, playing the piano and working on scientific projects and formulas. We will never forget his quick wit, easy going personality, dry sense of humor, and positive attitude. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. ESTRADA, LUCILLE LETICIA Age 74, passed away early Saturday morning, June 7, 2014 to rest in peace with our Lord and her loved ones before her, after battling cancer with steadfast valiancy, strength and courage. She enjoyed life to the fullest, her eyes would smile when she was surrounded by her girls, family and friends. JARAMILLO, JOHN DOMINIC John danced into spirit on June 6, 2014. He was born August 6, 1963 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and traveled the world as a performing artist, professional flamenco dancer, arts in education teacher, Native American educator and lover of life. John touched the lives and future of thousands of students of all ages with his work in arts education. He was a popular teaching artist on the Young Audiences - Arts For Learning roster for almost two decades and since 2009 was part of the Wolf Trap International Baccalaureate and Georgia Wolf Trap Literacy programs through the Woodruff Arts Center, Atlanta. He taught in schools with the Alliance Theatre Striving Reader program and through Young Audiences Art Partners. He created and toured individual cultural arts presentations that centered on flamenco, Native American dance and indigenous culture in the Americas. John was a full-blooded American Indian from the Pueblos of Isleta and San Felipe. He attended Manzano High School. John performed around the world as an actor, dancer, movement artist, speaker and teacher, including appearances at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian, NYC, Popejoy Center for the Arts, The Circle Theatre at the American Indian Community House in NYC, the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and the Institute of American Indian Art Museum, Santa Fe. He was a principal performer with Maria Benitez Teatro Flamenco/ Segundo Compania, Ritmo Flamenco, Dance Espana, Danzantes, ClancyWorks Dance Company, Pueblo Flamenco de Santa Fe, Naa Kahidi Native American Theatre Company, DayStar Native American Dance Theatre, Prairie Dance Theatre and other companies. He appeared as a principal dancer at the American Dance Festival, the Dance Theatre Workshop in New York City, Lincoln Center Out-Of-Doors in New York City, Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles and in multiple performances with the Dallas Opera. John trained in drama, art, architecture, ballet, modern, jazz and flamenco dance at the University of New Mexico, visual art at the Institute of American Indian Art and Flamenco dance at the Amor de Dios School of Flamenco Dance in Madrid. He was instructed in traditional Aztec Dance from Paz Zamora as a performing member of Ehecatl Aztec Dance Troupe and in traditional Neapolitan dances of Italy from Alessandra Belloni while performing with I Giullari de Piazza - Italian Theatre and Music Group in New York City. In 2008 John performed for indigenous people from around the globe and conducted a workshop at the International Native American Studies Conference at UGA in Athens. He was part of the Martin Luther King Day celebration at Atlanta's Clark University during the Teaching and Learning For Empowerment Conference. John was featured at the popular Lake Eden Arts Festival - LEAF - in Asheville, NC, and was part of the LEAF in the Schools and Streets program with his dance and drumming workshop for elementary school students. John is survived by adoring wife Therra Gwyn Jaramillo; brother Pat Jaramillo; sister Joann F. Henry; brothers-in-law Samuel Henry and Chuck Williams; nieces Angelina Henry and Emily Jaramillo; nephews Aaron Henry and Patrick Jaramillo and Beba Sara Jaramillo; plus many loving aunts, uncles and cousins from Isleta and San Felipe Pueblos. He is also loved and remembered by friends and artists he considered family. John was preceded in spirit by parents Dominic and Agnes Jaramillo and sister, Martha Louise. John was an adventurer who enjoyed exploring new places and art forms. He loved life at his urban Atlanta farm with his wife, multitude of dogs, cats, chickens and friends. Yet his heart was always anchored in New Mexico. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Friday at St. Augustine Church and he will be buried at Isleta Pueblo Cemetery on Saturday after 1 p.m. services at St. Augustine Church. JEROME, DONNELL E. was born June 14, 1934 in Kuna, Idaho. He passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 in Albuquerque at the age of 79. Donnell grew up on a dairy farm near Kuna. After two years of farming as an adult, he moved on to serve with the Boise, Idaho Police Department, teaching Police Science at Washington State University, where he spent two years as Department Chairman. He then began working in Security Management and Counter Intelligence at Sandia National Laboratories. Donnell had been retired from the Laboratories for 16 years. As well, he was an active member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and an officer in the Enchanted Park Neighborhood Association. Donnell was preceded in death by his parents, Ermil and Evelyn Jerome and by his sister, Doris Elavsky. He is survived by his wife, Thisbe Jerome; children, Rebecca (George) March, Prudence (Robert) Edgar, Timothy (Patricia) Jerome and Elizabeth (John) Feldman; eleven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; as well as other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. JORDAHL, RITA Rita Jordahl (90), a loving wife of Norman Jordahl (92) passed away peacefully on 5/8/14 in her home in Albuquerque, NM surrounded by family and friends. Born in Buffalo NY on 3/14/24 and married on 8/16/52 for 61 + years. Rita is survived by Norman (husband); Sheila and Doreen (daughters); Vicki (93-sister); Jason & Ambrea (grandchildren); & Zoe (great-granddaughter). As a military wife, she supported her husband through three wars, raised two daughters, traveled, and set up new households at multiple military assignments. LIBUTTI, ADOLPH H. Age 90, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014. He was born in Manhattan, NY on July 10, 1923, to Carmen Libutti and Irene D'Angelo. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Libutti. SANCHEZ, NAT Natividad "Nat" Sanchez, 72, of Vaughn, NM, passed away at his home Tuesday, June 10, 2014 following an illness. Nat was born April 26, 1942 in Duran, NM to the home of Jose Antonio and Consepcion (Valencia) Sanchez. He grew up in Duran and graduated from Encino High School in 1961. Nat married Maria Dolores Aragon on August 11, 1962. They made their home in Vaughn. He was employed with Hodges Oil Company for 19 years before joining E.N.M.R. Telephone Co-Op where he worked for 20 years. Nat was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a 3rd Degree Knight, a Captain with the Vaughn Fire Department, served on the Vaughn School Board for eight years, and the Vaughn Housing Authority Board. Nat also ranched at Pinos Wells and enjoyed deer hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two nephews Gary Dean Archibeque and Vincent Sanchez. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dolores Sanchez of the family home in Vaughn; three daughters Josephine Baca of Alamogordo, Kristine Hansen and husband Pete of Albuquerque, Natalie Tenorio and husband Curt of Edgewood; one son Natividad Sanchez and his wife Marie of Edgewood; and son-in-law Frank Baca of Alamogordo. Also surviving are seven siblings, three brothers Joe (Alice) Sanchez of Albuquerque, Don (Bernice) Sanchez of Vaughn, Abenicio (Stella) Sanchez of Indian Hills, NM; four sisters Luggi (Paul) Madrid of Vaughn, Barbara (Norbert) Archibeque of Vaughn, Dora (Ramon) Marquez of Moriarty, and Sandra (G.P.) Sandoval of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren Dominique Calderon of Alamogordo, Sonya Baca of Alamogordo, Natalie Hansen of Albuquerque, Andrea Snyder of San Diego, California; Zachary Tenorio, Lexie Tenorio, Monique Sanchez, Isaiah Sanchez, and Isaac Sanchez all of Edgewood; along with 13 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. SEDILLO, EMILIO "DAVID" Age 64, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, was embraced by the Lord and taken to Eternal Life, Thursday, June 5, 2014. He was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. David enjoyed being a truck driver; and he loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and Amarante A. Sedillo. David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Nancy Sedillo of the family home; his children, David Sedillo and wife Evelyn, Ben Sedillo, Donny Sedillo and wife Sharon Garcia; his precious grandchildren, Miranda Sedillo and husband Chris Chadwell, Samantha Sedillo, Julianna Sedillo, Natasha Gonzales, Carlos Garcia, Anthony Garcia, John Gonzales; and his great-grandson, Christopher Chadwell. Also surviving are nine brothers; one sister; four sister-in-laws; four brother-in-laws; and numerous nieces, nephews; and other loving relatives and friends. David will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose lives he touched. A Rosary to be recited will be recited Friday, June 13, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 9502 Fourth St., NW, followed by the Service of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. To honor David's wishes, cremation has taken place. SHUFORD, DAVID MARCUS SR. Age 85, a resident of Albuquerque, died on Sunday, June 8, 2014 after a yearlong battle with cancer, at home with his loved ones by his side. A native of Arden, North Carolina, he is survived by son, David Marcus Shuford Jr., his wife Karen, and their three daughters, Stephanie Campbell and her husband Tim and their children Cooper and Cora, Amy Shuford, Kelli Reeves and her husband Kraig; his daughter, Claire Newell Shuford; and his daughter Leslie Diane Gartner and her husband Ed and their children Jessica and Tony. He is also survived by his brother, Robert F. Shuford and his wife Frances Anne and their children Robert and Anne. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patty Newell Shuford; his parents, Charles and Elsie Shuford; and his brother, Charles Shuford. As a young man he enjoyed archery, attained the rank of Eagle Scout in 1946, and played football at Christ School where he was known as "Brute Force." David received a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University. He served in the Army as a first lieutenant and ordinance officer stationed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama from 1952 to 1955. He received his masters on the GI Bill from the University of Florida. David was a pioneer in the development of high temperature carbon-carbon coatings used on the nose cone and leading edge of the Space Shuttle with many patents in his name for this work. In his later years, he enjoyed working in the yard and helping his daughter Claire in their pearl business. Services will be held Saturday, June 14, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., at the Chester T. SLADE, MAXIMILLIAN THEODORE TIMOTHY age 25, died unexpectedly on June 7, 2014. Max was born in Albuquerque, N.M., March 3, 1989. Dearly loved and missed, he is survived by his father and stepmother Dave and Holly Slade; his mother Wendy Davis; sister Brittany O'Brien and brother-in-law Tim O'Brien, from Birmingham, Alabama; sisters Drew and Maddy Davis, and Reese Russell-Frayer, all from Albuquerque; brothers are Ryan Slade from Chicago, Derek Slade from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and Michael Davis of Albuquerque. Max was an extraordinary athlete and fierce competitor who excelled in gymnastics, football, and basketball. He won the state title for all-round gymnast five times and was the regional champion four times. He shined as a safety and running back in YAFL and could play a mean game of pick-up basketball. An avid sports fan, he loved the Dallas Cowboys, Oklahoma Thunder, and St. Louis Cardinals. He trained most recently at the Zero Point Parkour gym in preparation for the Ninja Warrior competition. Max worked as a customer representative in the telecommunications industry and had an engaging personality and sense of humor that drew people to him. Services will be held at Calvary of Albuquerque on Saturday, June 14th at 11:00 a.m. Public viewing will be from 10-10:45 a.m. in the sanctuary. A reception will follow in the Hub. SPENCER, ELSIE CHARLESE Age 90, died on Monday, May 26, 2014. Charlese Spencer was a missionary in Ghana, Africa for some thirty years and a distinguished nurse educator here. Her motivation for serving in Africa was so that others would come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. STAHNKE, MARIA age 87, a long-time resident of Albuquerque passed away June 6 after a short illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth and passed on their 68th wedding anniversary. She is also preceded by her granddaughter Joy Stahnke. She is survived by her son Ralph and his wife Rita; daughter Martha and her husband Mike; grandchildren Christine, Hope and husband Mark, Keith and Michael, Jr.; great-grandchildren Kenneth William Stahnke II, L. J., Wendy, Stephen, Alix, Savannah, Dustin, Elizabeth and Val; six great-great-grandchildren; and her best friend Dorothy. She retired from the Albuquerque Journal. Maria was very active with the deaf senior citizen community, enjoyed 4 wheeling, dancing, swimming, ipads, cards and cleaning. Visitation will be Friday, June 13, 2014 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at French - Wyoming. Services will be Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 9:00 am at FRENCH-Wyoming. WEBER, JOHN P. John P Weber, age 83, born in Milwaukee, WI and a resident of Albuquerque since 1961, passed away June 6, 2014. John was preceded in death by his brother Tom, son Pete and daughter Terry. John is survived by a brother Nick; sister Barbara; son Mark and son Joe wife Margaret; grandchildren Nick Sr and wife Laura, Jessica, Allison, Diana, Sara and Peter; five great-grandchildren, Amanda, Nick Jr, Jordan, Taylor and Jacey; one great-great-grandchild, Spencer. John graduated in 1952 from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He then served in the US Air Force at Biggs Army Airfield as the Base Nuclear Officer. After his Air Force tour he worked at Armour Research in Chicago. In 1961, John landed a job at Sandia Labs in Albuquerque. He loved working at Sandia and was a dedicated employee until his retirement in 1994. John was a devoted father who enjoyed teaching his kids how to fish, camp, swim, ice skate, ski, play tennis and other skills. He loved his pets, dogs, cats and hamsters, and spoiled them in a royal fashion. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14 at 11:00 am at Direct Services, 2919 4th St. NW 87107.
