BONNEY -- ISABELLA March 1, 1933 - March 8, 2006 A Letter to Our Mother... There is a place in our hearts reserved only for mothers, that no one else on earth can fill. You went to Heaven six years ago, sometimes it feels like yesterday but more often it feels like a lifetime ago. We know you are enjoying eternal life with Jesus, we cannot imagine the happiness you must have felt to be with everyone who left this life before you, whom you loved and missed. We are all so fortunate to have been raised by a mother like you. We wish that you could be here to share life's special moments with us, but we feel great comfort in knowing we will see you again someday and have a conversation with you. Happy Birthday Mom!

Despite his deafness, he persevered in bringing in supplemental income to help his mother during challenging economic times during his adolescence. Despite not having interpreters, he graduated from Pasadena City College with an associates degree. Lockheed then employed him as a draftsman. He was a "self-taught" professional, continually improving his work skills, his writing and his life-long desire to learn about world history and archeology. He toured the world three times, always with a tight budget. Deafness was not an issue during his travels. His tools of ASL (American Sign Language) and note-writing served him well during his lifetime. Phil married Barbara Upton Sheridan in Deming, New Mexico in 1954. Philip is survived his daughter Priscilla and her husband David; his son Philip Dean and his wife Lea Grant Sheridan; his grandchildren, Scott Miller, Michelle Erickson and her husband Matthew, Brian Miller, Kevin Miller, Danica Sheridan, Cambria Sheridan, Grant Sheridan; and great-grandchildren, Zachary Miller and Adelyn Miller. There were three main events that helped form Phil's life: his mother Helen, his best deaf friend Merle Smith (who taught him vocabulary builders using Latin/Greek prefixes), and the Hawaiian way of life. Everything in Hawaii is based on Balance and Harmony as well as the appreciation for fresh food and good health. The five phrases that sum up the life of Philip Lee Sheridan: God, Honor, Hard Work, Stoicism, and the Joy of Traveling. Rest in peace Phil...your next trip should be a fantastic journey. Mahalo/ Aloha (Hawaiian for Thank You and Goodbye-with Love). The funeral will be held at Baca's Mortuary in Deming, NM, on March 3rd in the morning. He will be buried alongside his wife, Barbara, who had passed away in 2005.
