ANAYA -- MARK KENNETH Born July 7, 1962 in Albuquerque, NM and passed away February 20, 2012 in Prescott, AZ. He was predeceased by his father Arthur and is survived by his son, Kenneth Gill; grandson Preston J. Gill; mother and stepfather Ermelinda and William; sisters Bella and Darlene; and several nieces and nephews. An Army veteran, gifted artist and giving soul, Mark touched each of the hearts he met along his path of life.

ARNER -- HAROLD L. Age 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1977, died February 24, 2012. He had a peaceful passing with his family at his bedside. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Arner; son, Michael Arner and wife, Dasha of Albuquerque; daughter, Rebecca Brown and husband, Dennis of Boston, MA; grandchild, Caden Brown; brother, Russell Arner of Brunswick, OH; sister, Janet Gray and husband Ron of Broadmax, VA; and friends. He was an alumna of Davis and Elkins College in W. VA, where he received his degree in electrical engineering. He gained a master's degree at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, OH. He was an active member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, New Mexico Trout Fly Tiers, and Habitat for Humanity. He served 22 years in the Air Force, achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel - and was decorated multiple times for his service in Vietnam. He was a crew member with many types of aircraft. Services will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012, 10:00 a.m., with a reception afterwards at St. Luke Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. CLARK -- TERESA G. Loving wife of 59 years to David W. Clark, passed away into the Lord's arms on Friday, February 17, 2012 at the age of 76. In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughters, Linda Barron, Marie Currie, Jeannette Denison and husband Brett; grandchildren, Justin Barron, Brandon Barron, Kellie Currie, Travis Currie and fiance Jana Wright, Desiree Denison, Jordane Denison;great-granddaughter, Taylor Currie; her "Nino", Frank Garcia; as well as numerous brothers, sisters, other family members and friends who love and will miss her. CONNER -- HELEN R. Age 94, a long time resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, February 24, 2012. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine O'Neal and husband Larry of Albuquerque; her son David Conner and wife Alice of Loveland, CO; and a sister, Janet Barsky and husband Ben of Henderson, NV. She also leaves behind four grandchildren; eight great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Conner; son, Claude Conner; father, Theodore Rutstein; her mother Hilda Rutstein; and sister, Roseanna Kaufman. She was a member of Hadassah. COREY -- RUTH EVELYN was called to our Lord on February 22, 2012, in Midland, Texas following a lengthy illness. She was born in Winfield, Iowa on June 2, 1913 to Rev. J. C. and Emily Fitzwater Currie. She graduated from Tarkio College, Tarkio, Missouri in 1933. As a missionary in Assiut, Egypt, she taught at the Presley Memorial Institute. Ruth returned to the U.S. when WWII began. After training at Chanute Field Army Air Base, she served as an instructor in the operation and maintenance of flight instruments, first for the U.S. Army Air Corp and then for the Brazilian Air Corp in Sao Paulo, Brazil. At the end of WWII, Ruth returned to the States for graduate study in the Psychology Department at the University of Iowa where she met Lt. Paul F. Corey, a veteran of the war in the Pacific who was studying law at the Law of Commons. Ruth and Paul were married June 4th, 1949 and made their home in Albuquerque. Ruth earned a Masters Degree in Education at the University of New Mexico and taught first grade at Bel Air Elementary School until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Clyde and Paul Currie, and by her husband of 30 years. She is survived by her three children: Dr. Jean P. Corey and husband, Thomas Anderson of Tucumcari, NM; Ellen R. Vaughn and husband, Richard of Fort Sumner, NM; and Fred C. Corey and wife, Deborah of Midland, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Paul F. Corey and fiancee, Nicole Carver of Dallas, TX; Daniel W. Corey and wife, Monica of Midland, TX; and Amy Vaughan of Stillwater, OK. GATES -- ELIZABETH "LIZ" Passed away February 24, 2012. She was born to Archie and Clara Dionne in Worcester, MA on February 5, 1923. She married Richard Gates, Sr. May 16, 1943. She and Dick moved to Albuquerque in the late 40's to raise their four children. Liz was a homemaker as well as a saleslady at Woolworths and Dillards. She loved dancing and listening to Frank Sinatra. She also loved trips to Las Vegas, NV with Dick and their many friends. She had a special friendship with their neighbors and friends Jean and Tom Garcia, Esther and Andy Sanchez, Ted and Edna Niforos, and Sue and Frank Sacco. She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Gates; her son, Rick Gates; her sister Edie Fancy; and her brothers-in-law Bob Gates and Ned Gattas. She is survived by her daughter Betty Doxey; her son Jim Gates (Margaret); her daughter Pearly Gates; her brothers Archie and Ernie Dionne and their families; her grandchildren Angie Crosby (George), Sandi Hamilton (Daniel), Kim Blea (JJ), Richard Doxey, Meghan Gates, Becky Gates (Eric), Charlie Gates (Jody); Julie Huerta (Mark) and CJ Vanderlip; her daughters-in-law Lynn Gates and Virginia Lenberg (Greg); her sister-in-law Adele Gattas; 14 greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. HICKEY -- HOWARD (WARD) JAMES JR. HICKEY, HOWARD (WARD) JAMES JR. Age 76, of Holyoke, MA passed away February 22, 2012 peacefully at his home in Albuquerque, NM after a long battle with cancer. During his final days, Howard was surrounded and lovingly cared for by his 5 children. Born in Holyoke, MA, the son of the late Howard and Margaret (Dineen) Hickey, He graduated from Fairfield University (Fairfield, CT) after an honorable term in The United States Marine Corp. He enjoyed a long successful career in finance and banking which led him on many travels. After retiring from banking he fulfilled a lifelong dream of teaching. He was honored as a Teaching Professor and a New Mexico Banker's Endowed Fellow at The University of New Mexico's Anderson School of Management. Howard is survived by his sister Mary Ann Fuette of Pennsylvania, his five children, Tara Hickey of Corona del Mar, CA, Howard III (Ward) and Debbie Hickey of Phoenix, AZ, Shauna Hickey of Holyoke, MA, Erika and Jason Doss of Hobe Sound, FL and Dana Hickey of Tulsa, OK and his four grandchildren, Bailey Rich, Howard (Chip) Hickey IV, Erika Hickey and Emerson Doss. HODO -- LUCINDA "CINDY" MAE Age 78, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2012. Lucinda was born on April 21, 1933 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to Margaret and Carl Beu. Cindy was raised by her grandparents Lucinda and Philip Senneway. She married Bobby Dee Hodo on December 6, 1952 after meeting in Pittsburg where he was stationed in the Army. Cindy and Bobby moved to Albuquerque and had three children, Jill, Tim and Holly. Cindy was an assistant manager at Value House for several years where she made many friends. She enjoyed cooking, bowling, shopping, traveling, entertaining and being with her family. Cindy is survived by her husband, Bobby Dee; son, Tim Hodo; daughters, Jill Bean and Holly Kurz; siblings, Patty, Cheryl and Phillip; sons-in-law, Michael Kurz and Skip Bean; grandchildren, Ashley Kurz, Jeremey Kurz, Michael Spellman, Benjamin Spellman and four great-grandchildren. She is survived by daughter, Theresa (Gilbert) Chavez of Albuquerque, NM, daughter, Carmel Pino of Tucumcari, NM, son, Louis (Rena) Lucero, Sr. of Cuba, NM, daughter, Margaret (Johnny) Bustos of Alamosa, CO, and daughter, Patsy (Randy Bitter) Wilson of Cleveland, OK; son-in-law, Esequiel Granillo of Kermit, TX; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and sister, Bennie Muniz of Taos, NM. Carolina was preceded in death by her husband, Santiago Lucero; father, Jose M. Gutierrez; mother, Cleotilde S. Gutierrez; children, Tony, Eddie, Margie, Bessie, Ruby and Albert; great-grandsons, Richard Lucero and Angelo Alires; great-granddaughter, Adriana Wilson; and son-in-law, Joe Pino. Carolina was a loving mother and homemaker. She loved to go to church at Highland Baptist as well as spend time with her family. MANN -- ROBERT HAROLD 91, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, February 24, 2012. He is survived by daughters Barbara "Jeanne" Flores and husband, Paul; Ramona Mann and Pamela Trombetti all of Albuquerque, NM; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Lou. Robert served his country proudly during WWII for the United States Army under General Patton's leadership. He was a member of Grace Baptist Chapel. MONSON -- GALE WENDELL Naturalist and author, born August 1, 1912, passed away peacefully at his Albuquerque home on February 19, 2012. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Sally. He is survived by his five children: Rosemary Remacle (Sunnyvale, CA), Margaret Monson (Seattle, WA), Fred Monson (Lehigh Acres, FL) and his Albuquerque daughters, Anne Monson and Ruth Bear and their respective husbands, J.G. Alaimo and David Bear. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Born in Munich, North Dakota, Gale studied the natural world throughout his life, from his early years on his parents' farm and for almost a century of living, this was his passion. He spent his professional life working for the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Soil Conservation Service and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. His work assignments took him and his family to Albuquerque, Gallup, and Socorro, New Mexico; Parker, Yuma, and Tucson, Arizona; and Washington D.C. As part of the "greatest generation," he served in the army medical service corps in the Burma-India theater during WWII. Gale loved the Sonoran Desert and spent the bulk of his life's work there, where he contributed greatly to its study. His greatest passion was ornithology, but he had an abiding love for the study of the natural world in its entirety. He co-authored several books: The Birds of Arizona, The Desert Bighorn, The Birds of Sonora, The Annotated Checklist of Arizona Birds and also authored and edited numerous other related publications. Gale influenced numerous people throughout his life and will live on in the hearts and memories of his family and many friends. A memorial service will be held in Tucson on March 18th; please contact a family member for details. PEPIN -- MARGARET Age 90, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958 died on February 23, 2012. She is survived by her daughter, Madeleine Pepin Keys (David); three grandchildren, Becca Moran, Lara Keys and Waldo Keys (Terri); five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Gavin, Shane, Cassie and Henry; and honorary children, Debi and Randy Peterson. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Hank Pepin; daughter, Jeanine Pepin; grandson, Linzy; and great-granddaughter, Haley. SEARS -- FRANK SHELDON LT. COL. US ARMY RET. Passed away on February 17, 2012. He was a resident of Springfield, MO since 2009. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Ann Grubb and husband Chris Grubb; two grandchildren, Catherine Ashley Grubb and Chase Sheldon Grubb of Springfield, MO.; as well as many relatives and friends on both sides of the family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lillian Margaret (Argabright) Sears; parents, Frank B. and Mary Ellen (Henry) Sears; one sister, Nellie Mae (Sears) Gray Wornham. He was born in Salem, VA on October 11, 1916. He attended Roanoke College, Salem, VA earning a bachelor's degree in Physics. After college he worked a year in an industrial supply company prior to being drafted in to the Army. He was assigned to the 1st Armored Division spending time in North Africa, French Morocco and Italy during World War II. Later he served in Japan, Germany, Hawaii and Vietnam. He worked in nuclear weapons design and development. His last assignment was chief of the Tactical and Air Defense Weapons Branch of Field Command at Sandia Base, Albuquerque, NM. He retired after 27 years of service in the United States Army. He was a member of the VFW Post 49 and Post 99, The Elks Lodge, Master Mason of Camp Knox, KY Lodge 919 and also served 32 years on the Board of Directors of Sandia Area Federal Credit Union. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary University location. TAYLOR -- WARREN E. Age 91, long time Albuquerque resident, passed away due to pneumonia on February 24th. Warren was born on November 15, 1920 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He grew up in South Bend, Indiana. He was an officer in the Army Air Corps during World War II and served in North Africa. Following his honorary discharge, he completed his Bachelors degree at Kalamazoo College, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he met his wife, Ann. Ann and Warren were married in 1947. Warren received his Ph.D. in physics from the Ohio State University in 1952 and was immediately hired by Sandia Laboratories where he worked as a nuclear physicist and ultra high vacuum technologist until his retirement. Throughout his life, Warren was continuously committed to the youth of Albuquerque. He was active in the Boy Scouts for over 30 years in many capacities, including Scout Master, and was honored with the Silver Beaver award for his distinguished service. He was active in the youth programs of his church, where he led children's worship services and served as Sunday School Superintendent. Warren always enjoyed his interaction with the student scientists he met while judging the finals of the state of New Mexico Science Fair. Warren also assumed positions of leadership as an elder in his church, and as an officer in the New Mexico Chapter of the American Vacuum Society. Warren always had a great love of the outdoors, and led many a camping trip throughout the Rocky Mountain west. He had a great love of all things New Mexican and the food and culture of Mexico and Central America. Warren is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ellen Ann; three children, Shirley of Littleton, Colorado, Wayne of Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Kurt, of Burney, California; three grandchildren, Steven, Ayla, and Dustin; and two nephews, David and Donald. Warren was predeceased in death by his only brother, Robert, and parents Clarence and Marjorie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the youth ministry at the Sombra Del Monte Christian Church. A memorial service celebrating Warren's life will be held at the Sombra Del Monte Christian Church on Vermont Street at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 1st.
