BRANDT -- WILLIAM E. Age 50, died Sunday, July 17, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Karen Lofgren Brandt; children, Lauren and Erica Brandt; parents, Maralynn and Jerry Lorenc; sister, Juliann Brandt; grandmother, Mary June Matz; and uncle, Wayne Brandt and wife, Myra. Mr. Brandt was a graduate of Jupiter High School, Jupiter, FL, and received his Bachelor's degree from Cornell College, Mt. Vernon, IA. Mr. Brandt and his family have lived in Albuquerque for the past 20 years. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, and brother and will be deeply missed. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 21, 2011, 4:00 p.m., at St. John's Methodist Church, 2626 Arizona St. NE. CHAVEZ -- MELITA G. Age 89, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away Monday July 18, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Jim C. Chavez; her son, Jim Chavez Jr.; her grandson, Vincent Chavez. She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Chavez, and husband, Valentin; son, Richard Chavez; daughter, Triney Cano, and husband, Jeff; six grandchildren; great-grandchild; one great-great-grandson; two sisters and one brother. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their loving care. Special thanks to Manuela and Evelyn. CONNELLEY -- JACK B. "SKIP" Age 87, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mari Jo Connelley; children, Priscilla M. Romer and husband, Rich, Paul E. Connelley and Kelly Lee Freeman and husband, John, Karla Gutierrez and husband, Mike, daughter-in-law, Virginia Sena, Maria Johnson and partner, Heather, Edward Johnson; grandchildren, Kevin, Tim, Katie, Shannon, Cindy, Michael, Jack, Thomas, Christopher, David, Mannie and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Tucker, Marcelo, Miana, Emilio, Jasmine, Renee, and Devon and Quinton; and sister, Darlene Rose and husband, Dwight. Skip graduated from Raton High School in the Class of 1942. He served in the US Navy during World War II. Skip worked for Mountain Bell for 34 years. He was member of the Manzano Club of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was also a member of the Zia Drifters Family Campers. He volunteered for Cowboys for Cancer Research. DIXON -- DONALD EARL Age 93 of Grants, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on July 16. He was born on 4/6/1918 in Denver, Colorado. He joined the Navy at the age of 18 and honorably served his country during WWII on the U.S.S. Chikaskia and achieved the rank of Lieutenant. He worked as the City Plant Foreman in Gunnison, Co., then as the City Engineer in Trinidad, Co., before settling in Grants as the Mechanical Mill Superintendent of the Anaconda Mining Company until his retirement. He enjoyed golf, computers and spending time with the family. Don was always known for his humor and caring ways. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Connie, her son, Dale Orrell, and wife, Laura; her daughters, Laura Leinneweder, and husband, Mike; and Diane Lopez, and husband, Al; his daughters, Vicki Mirabal, and husband, Ruben, and Donna Ashwill, and husband, Tom; grandchildren, McKensey and Wyatt Nall, Justin Mirabal, and wife, Amanda, Brandi Clark, and husband, Jim, Tamara Bateson, and husband, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Brody and Brice Clark, Ava, Addison and Colby Bateson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; grandson, Ben Ashwill; parents, Ben and Lillian Dixon; brother, Lem and sister, Doris. EASTWOOD -- GRACE L. Age 84, of Albuquerque died July 15, 2011. Grace was a resident of Albuquerque over 40 years and was a member of Joshua's Vineyard. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Eastwood; son, Frank; daughter, Susan; brothers, Tom and Andrew Jr. She is survived by her children, Matthew, JoAnne and Nancy; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Robert. GARCIA -- TOM C. Age 78, of Albuquerque joined our Lord on July 16, 2011 surrounded by close family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Jean, and his children; Michael (Helen), Tom (Molly) Jim, John (Monica), Steve, Sally (John) and Cyndi (David). Tom was blessed with ten grandchildren: Jennifer, Lisa, Brandon, Jessy,0 Tarah, Jacob, Sterling, Thomas, Paris, and David, and two great-grandchildren: McKenna and Alex. He is also survived by four sisters: Andrea, Lala, Eileen, Celia and husband John. Friends and family may visit French Mortuary for a viewing on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 5-7 pm. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church at Lomas and Tennessee. Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Domme officiating. GIVLER -- VICTORIA LEE "VICKY" Died July 14, 2011. She was raised in Wilmington, Delaware, lived for 15 years in Northampton, Ma. before moving to Albuquerque in 1989. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Tom; her children, Katherine Anne Givler and husband Thomas Manley, John Thomas Givler and wife Kelly Kinnard, Michael Ogden Givler and wife Mandy and Robert William Givler and wife Kristin Nelson; grandchildren Joshua, Lucia, Molly, Theo, Abigail and Emma; sister, Patricia Poole Benzien; and many other family and friends. A graduate of San Jose State College with a Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy, her profession for 45 years. Vicky was a co-founder of the GivMohr Sling Corporation which manufactures a unique arm sling for stroke victims. Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann Grubb; daughter, Sharla Ann Grubb of Albuquerque New Mexico; son, William Otis Grubb IV, and wife, Terri of Gilbert Arizona; brother, Jimmy Shannon Grubb, and wife, Lvylea of Carta Valley, Texas; sisters, Barbara Grubb Medley, and husband, Oscar, Janet Grubb Adams, and husband, Scott, all of Fort Davis, Texas; Four grandchildren, Jeremy Shannon Grubb and Ashley of Marble Falls, Texas, Kayla Joy Grubb and Curtis of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kaitlyn Marie Carlin Grubb of Gilbert, Arizona, and William Otis Grubb V of Gilbert, Arizona; great-grandson, Andyn Michael Grubb of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
