BACA -- CONNIE A. Age 92, also known as Maria Concepcion Alderete, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2011. She was born May 9, 1919. Connie is survived by her remaining son, Darrell Barela; as well as her sister Ruth Alderete; brother Henry Alderete along with his wife, Sally. Connie is also survived by several grandchildren (along with their families) including Antionette Lopez and Roxanne Barela; Annette and Angela Barela; Rick and Chris Barela; and Angie and Jeff Barela. She had over 13 great-grandchildren as well as other extended family members. Her caregiver, Nina Andrew, helped her through her last years of life and was very close to her heart. Connie was an active member of Queen of Heaven Church and had several close prayer group friends including Lydia Prudencio, Carmen Thompson, and Mary Johnson. Connie lived a long and beautiful life and will be missed dearly by everyone. A Rosary and Funeral Mass are scheduled for Thursday, August 25, 2011 to begin at 9:30 am at Queen of Heaven Church located at 5311 Phoenix Ave NE. Burial of her remains will follow on the same day at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 pm located at 501 North Guadalupe Street in Santa Fe, NM.

BAROS -- LEONARD "LONNIE" Passed away peacefully with his family by his side Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the age of 52. Lonnie was born and raised in Albuquerque NM. He served as a sergeant in the U.S Army. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Elsie Cortez and grandfather Juan De La O. He is survived by his wife Becky Baros; his children Victoria, Antoinette, and Anthony Baros; step-children, Leonie Rose, Ikie Rose, and fiance Michelle Johnson and Shawn Rose; his grandchildren Elena, Selena, Lilah, and Lilly; his mother Nestorita Baros; father Leonard and step-mother Linda Baros; mother-in-law, Leonie Sandoval; his brother Victor and wife Marcella Baros; sister Sonia Baros; brother-in-law Dickie and wife Julie Sandoval; niece Amanda Baros; nephews Timothy Dow, Dominic Dow, Jonathan Dow and Victor Baros Jr.; grandmother Annie De La O; several uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Pallbearers are Timothy Dow, Anthony Castillo, Dickie Sandoval, Larry Whiting, Ikie Rose, Victor Baros Jr., Dominic Dow, and Leroy Whiting; Honorary Pallbearers are Shawn Rose, Leonie Rose, Vivian de la O, Gerald Cavalier, Tomas Cavalier, Jonathan Dow, Angelo Castillo, Adam Castillo, Bobby Jaramillo, and Charmain Trujillo. Ronnie will be missed dearly by family and friends. He was a devoted Dallas fan. The family would like to thank everyone for the love and support that was given to us at our time of need. Rosary will be recited on Thursday August 25, 2011 at 7:00 pm at San Jose Mission Church in Los Duranes located at 2110 Los Luceros Rd. NW. CAMPBELL -- FRANCES ROBERTA (BOBBIE) Age 73, passed away peacefully at her home on August 22, 2011, with her loving family by her side after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 22, 1938. She was a resident of Albuquerque since 1982 where she worked at Goldwater's and Foley's for many years. She also spent several years in Mesa, AZ to be near her beloved grandchildren. She had a great passion for art and craft shows, her favorite was the Weems Art show during the balloon fiesta. The gift of love was the personalized Christmas ornaments that she gave everyone each year. She also loved to sew and do needlepoint. She was preceded in death by her father Cecil Attig; her mother Frances Bridges; son Richard; grandson Christopher Robert. She is survived by her husband Richard; her son Charles and his wife Diana of Queen Creek, AZ, son Robert of Edgewood, NM, son Gary of Cheyenne, WY; grandsons Justin of Phoenix, AZ, Brian, Steven and Tyler of Queen Creek, AZ. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Zia Hospice, especially nurses Erin and Marla, for the exceptional care they gave my wife, our mother and grandmother. DUKEMINIER -- GRIFFIS LEON (DUKE) Age 98, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2011. He was born on the family farm in Wellington, Texas. He spent his early years on a homestead in northern New Mexico. His family moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico when he was about twelve. He has lived in Albuquerque since 1943. Mr. Dukeminier attended college in Las Vegas at the New Mexico Normal University, now Highlands University. He was part owner of D&P Auto Supply from 1965 until his retirement in 1977. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. His was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Grace Shelton Dukeminier in 1995, parents, brother, sister, and one great-grandson. He is survived by 67 descendants - his four daughters, Deanna Rains and husband Terry of Albuquerque; Helen Duke and husband Bill of Roswell; Ruthray Pruitt and husband Dave of Oklahoma City; and Elaine Tourjee and husband Art of Los Lunas; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and friends. A Visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday evening, August 24, 2011 between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. at French Mortuary. Services will be held at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. N.E. at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 25 with Dr. Roy Elmore officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. GABALDON -- BENNY Age 43, a life-long resident of Belen, NM passed away with his family by his side on Monday, August 22, 2011 after a valiant battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). He is survived by his wife of nine years, Brenda; step-daughters, Katie Garcia and Kristin Garcia; parents, Felix and Erma Gabaldon of Belen; grandmother, Florela Vallejos of Belen; two sisters, Christina Gabaldon and Maria Nieto and husband, Daniel; numerous other relatives and many friends. Benny was born in Belen, NM and graduated from Belen High School, Class of 1985. He spent his entire career in engineering, the last four with New Mexico Department of Transportation. Benny was known and remembered by his friends and family as a compassionate and caring person and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. LAVERS -- RICHARD E. Age 89. A resident of Albuquerque since 1980, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 62 years LaVerne; son William and wife Regina of Rio Rancho; daughter Nancy Mittelbrun of Omaha, NE; son Jeff and wife Kelly of Woodbury, MN; son Tom and wife Heidi of Corpus Christie, TX; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by their beloved daughter Pamela in January, 2006, and their grandson Tyler in December, 2010. Dick was born in Minneapolis, MN. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and spent two and one half years in Europe with the First Army. Following his military service, he attended Northwestern University, graduating in 1949. He stayed in the Chicago area, working in manufacturing management with Avon Products. He was recruited and served in management with Presbyterian and St. Joseph Hospitals, starting in 1980. Upon retiring in 1987, he served as the Executive Director of a non-profit organization, certifying minority companies for major corporations and government agencies in New Mexico and El Paso TX. Dick was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1981, where he served as an Elder. Dick enjoyed walking at Winrock and Coranado shopping centers every morning, and the fellowship of wonderful friends he met there. A special note of appreciation and thanks to the caregivers from Brookdale Place at Valencia as well as Ambercare Hospice. Memorial services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday, August 26, at 4:00 p.m. Following the service, please join the family in Fellowship Hall at the church. LUSTER -- HELEN M. Age 80, a resident of Waldorf, MD, died peacefully in the presence of family on Sunday, August 21, 2011. She was born on November 22, 1930 in Tres Piedras, NM. Mrs. Luster is survived by her sons Jeffrey and wife Christine of Waldorf, MD and Matthew and wife Gretchen of Mesa, AZ; grandchildren Gwyneth, Peter, and Cameron; brother Felix Gonzales of Antonito, CO; sister Christine Juveland of Los Alamos, NM; sister-in-law Eva Gonzales of Pueblo, CO; niece Margaret Jowers of Albuquerque, NM; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Maclovio and Clara Gonzales; sisters Emma, Dora, Emily, and Maude; and brothers Gilbert, Edd, Maclovio, and Jose. Mrs. Luster was a long time resident of Los Alamos, NM and a retiree of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Prior to working for the Laboratory, she was an elementary school teacher. She loved visiting and speaking to her grandchildren. While she suffered from debilitating pain for much of her life, her faith never waivered. She was an active parishioner at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish during her residency in Los Alamos. While her various illnesses prevented her from attending Mass in Waldorf, she drew much comfort and strength from the services of the Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church. Private Internment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. The family will hold a Memorial Service in Los Alamos, NM in mid-September, with details to follow. MOON -- JEANNE ELLEN (JEE-JEE) Age 71, passed away August 21, 2011 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born February 15, 1940 in Coffeyville, KS and was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Irene Moon; and brother, Robert (Bobby) Moon. Jeanne is survived by her best friend and sister, Cheryl Gavin and brother-in-law, Monty Gavin; loving brother, Jack Moon and sister-in-law, Mary Lee; and sister-in-law, Barbara Moon. She will always have a special place in the hearts of her 12 nieces and nephews, and 19 grandnieces and grandnephews whom she treasured as though her own. Through years of challenge, Jeanne's faith in Christ helped her maintain a youthful exuberance and keen sense of humor despite her circumstances. Jeanne harnessed her love for children by devoting over 35 years of her life to helping countless youth as a public school counselor. Her encouraging presence, patient listening, and loving guidance will be greatly missed. RAINEY -- JOYCE ANN Age 81, resident of Albuquerque, departed this life on August 21, 2011 and is now rejoicing in Heaven. Joyce is survived by her children: daughters, Karen Spielbusch and husband, Brian, Cindy Morrison, and Zoe Lee and Paco Velasco; sons, Geoffrey Ooley and wife Michelle and Michael Ooley and wife, Lita; grandchildren, Krisitn Crutchfield and husband, Troy, Ronald Lee and wife Natalie, Brian Fennema and wife, Niesha, Jennifer Lee, Amy Lee, Amber Lee, Kyle Spielbusch, Brendan Morrison, and Calatina Ooley; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Madison Lee; sisters, Helen Rather and Carolyn Longland; twin sister, Jean Pedersen and husband, Peter; and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glover Eduard Ooley, in 1981. Joyce was an avid Los Angeles Lakers fan. She also enjoyed reading, walking, playing golf, cards, and Bunco. Later in life she enjoyed playing Bunco with her grandchildren. Her greatest love in life was her family. She will always be remembered as a wonderful and strong mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. As per her wishes, cremation is taking place and a Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at French - Wyoming Chapel. A private family interment will take place. RICE -- ELAINE MILDRED Elaine, the only child of Otis "Curly" and Ruby Layton, was born on September 11, 1923 in Albuquerque, NM. She passed away July 16, 2011 at the age of 87 in Clovis, NM. Interment services will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM, on August 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Elaine grew up in Albuquerque, NM. She graduated from Albuquerque High School and later attended the University of New Mexico. She married Joseph Lupo in 1943, and together they moved to New York. Elaine eventually returned to Albuquerque, the place she dearly loved. It was there she met and married Joe Barron Rice in February of 1959. Joe preceded her in death on June 10, 2007. Elaine lived a full and exciting life and loved to travel. She and Joe took many cruises together and traveled across the US in their motor home. Elaine's greatest pride and joy in life was her family. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Clark and son-in-law, Tom, of Portales; step-sons, Dee Rice (Debbie) of Marana, AZ, Lee Rice (Annette) of Deming NM; her nine grandchildren, Dawn Elaine Hatten of Buda, TX, Tracy Belcher (Bud DaBell) of Clovis, Michelle Cox of Texico, Mark Clark (Stacey) of Portales, Lezlie Privett (Eddy) of Portales, Heather Pfaffenberger (Doug) of Portales, LeAnne Rice of Las Vegas, NV, Aaron Rice of Marana, AZ, and Christopher Rice of Deming, NM; her 13 great-grandchildren, Layton Belcher, Travis Belcher (Amanda), Helle, Stacy and Lensi Hatten, Kayla Elaine Cox, Carolyn Spencer, McCray and Maislyn Clark, Dylan and Dalton Privett, and Alexis and Carson Pfaffenberger; her four great-great-grandchildren, Dakota and Tyler Newman, and Rilee and Tate Belcher.

RICHARDS -- DOROTHY GRACE TIERNEY MICHEL Was born on April 28, 1919 in Superior, WI. She was the oldest (by just minutes ahead of her twin sister, Doris) of four children to Randolph Waseen and Arvilla (Brown). Dorothy grew up in Superior, Wisconsin, graduated from Superior Central High School in 1936. In December 1941 Dorothy went to work for the Department of the Army Ordinance at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. shortly after the Pentagon was built. After the war, she applied for work in Germany but instead ended up going to Japan. It was in Japan that she met her first husband, John Tierney. Their union was blessed with four children, Patricia, John, Susan and Kathleen. Dorothy's husband John passed away in 1966. Dorothy married James Michel in 1972. James died of cancer in 1981. Dorothy then moved to Mesa, Arizona. She served on the staff of Victory Lutheran from 1984 until 1994. On May 7, 2006 she was married to a fellow church member, Tom Richards. They were married in the presence of her family and her church family. Dorothy died on August 21, 2011. She wants her life to be remembered as a legacy of blessings because of her faith in God. She believes her life was blessed because she sang and laughed a lot. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, singing over seventy years in church choirs, singing duets with her sister Doris, traveling and volunteering in her church. She is survived by her husband Thomas; her children Patricia (Jay) Butler, John (Cathy) Tierney, Susan (Daniel) Baca, Kathleen Tierney; grandchildren Adam, Bridget, Jarrod, Zachary, Sean, Trevor, and Matthew; great-grandchildren Sam and Jonas, Thomas' children Tom, Jeff, Scott and Greg; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Doris and Beverly; her brother Marshall. Services will be held at Victory Lutheran Church in Mesa, Arizona on Sunday August 28, 2011 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Animal Humane Society, Banner Gardens Hospice House, or Victory Lutheran Church.

ROMERO -- STEVE W. Age 78, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, August 18, 2011. He was preceded in death by sons Richard and Greg Romero. Steve is survived by his wife of 59 years Eva; son Chris Romero and wife, Charlotte; daughters Kathy Rusin and husband, Michael and Cathy Romero; brothers Daniel and John Romero; sisters Marcella Romero and Merilee Vallejo; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws Crusita and husband Robert Mora, Tita Delgado, and Marie Chavez; brother-in-laws Arthur, Sunny & Harold. He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. SMITH -- VIOLA (JUNE) Age 84, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully at home August 17, 2011. June, a widow, who was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd A. Smith, is survived by her three children, sons, Dennis and Richard Blubaugh, and daughter, Cheryl Davis; her eight grandchildren, Michael, Raymond and Lisa Blubaugh, Curtis and Chris Davis, Mason and Ryan Blubaugh and Launa Tholkes, as well as 15 great-grandchildren. June, a 19-year resident of Centennial, Colorado and Arapahoe County lived her life in a variety of locations. Her early years were in and around Millerton, Iowa, where she was born June 8, 1927 to Hazel and Merd Messenger. Her middle and later years were in Carlsbad and Albuquerque, New Mexico and Centennial, Colorado, respectively. Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26th at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, 1399 Luisa Street, Santa Fe, NM 87505, with a brief graveside service to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. TERRAZAS -- ROBERT A. Age 59, passed away surrounded by his family on August 21, 2011. He had battled a lifelong illness and finally was called home to rest. His parents Augustine and Dolores Terrazas preceded him in death. Robert is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sherry; daughter Nicole Sheree and stepson Tom Shoats Jr.; brothers John Terrazas, wife Karen, Richard Terrazas; sisters Elizabeth Serda, Stella Rivera, husband Frank, Rose Grieves, and husband Dave; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Honorary pallbearers are John Terrazas, Richard Terrazas, Tom Shoats, Sr., Tom Shoats, Jr., Bryan Quaglia, Daniel Lane, J.R. Terrazas, Joseph Terrazas, Colin Terrazas, and Adam Terrazas. Robert was a veteran of the New Mexico Air National Guard and the United States Army. THORP -- ANITA Age 72, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011. She was born on January 4, 1939 to Denver and Evelyn Gilbert, in Clinton, MO. Anita was a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1980. She was a member of Monterey Baptist Church Albuquerque, NM. Anita enjoyed church activities such as participation in the kitchen and Bible School, gardening and walking her faithful companion Scout. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger W. Thorp, and son, Gregg Miggaugh. Anita is survived by two daughters, Ann Preece of Albuquerque, NM, Sheila and Tom Byrne of Pleasant Hills, MO; sister Janice K. Gilbert of Clinton, MO.
