ALBRECHT -- LARS ANDRE Age 49, of Rio Rancho, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2011, in a motorcycle accident in Minnesota. Born in Goslar, Germany, Lars was very proud of his heritage. His mother brought him to the United States as a young boy, where he grew to be a fine man and husband. Lars' pride was his family, friends and co-workers and will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his wife Nancy; stepson Troy Harding and his children; brothers Oliver Albrecht and wife Elaine and Volker Albrecht; sister Sandi Wilkins and husband Daniel; and nine nieces and nephews. DIXON -- DONALD EARL Age 93 of Grants, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on July 16. He was born on 4/6/1918 in Denver, Colorado. He joined the Navy at the age of 18 and honorably served his country during WWII on the U.S.S. Chikaskia and achieved the rank of Lieutenant. He worked as the City Plant Foreman in Gunnison, Co., then as the City Engineer in Trinidad, Co., before settling in Grants as the Mechanical Mill Superintendent of the Anaconda Mining Company until his retirement. He enjoyed golf, computers and spending time with the family. Don was always known for his humor and caring ways. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Connie, her son, Dale Orrell, and wife, Laura; her daughters, Laura Leinneweder, and husband, Mike; and Diane Lopez, and husband, Al; his daughters, Vicki Mirabal, and husband, Ruben, and Donna Ashwill, and husband, Tom; grandchildren, McKensey and Wyatt Nall, Justin Mirabal, and wife, Amanda, Arlene Mirabal, Brandi Clark, and husband, Jim, Tamara Bateson, and husband, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Brody and Brice Clark, Ava, Addison and Colby Bateson, Tarra and Tasmyn. HARBERT -- LORAYNE Lorayne Harbert passed away on July 17, 2011, after living a happy and full life as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was born on August 2, 1923 in Merced, CA to Carol and Walter Lines. Preceding her in death was her husband of 41 years, Gerald C. Harbert. Growing up as an only child in the busy cities of Oakland and San Francisco, CA helped her to become the independent and persistent person she was known as. Upon graduation from HS she enrolled in Jr. College, only to leave 2 years later to become a Navy Wave after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She met and married Gerald and became a Navy wife. Her children and their spouses are Carol and Rusty Babington, Doug and Kathy Harbert, Helen and Rick Horn and Jerry and Cheryl Harbert . She has eight grandchildren, Brooke Bower, Amy Minnihan, Bill Babington, Michael Harbert, Alex Harbert, Heather Horn, Lyndsey Horn, and Zachary Harbert and two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Jack. Lorayne was a resident of Albuquerque for 54 years. One of her accomplishments she frequently spoke of was when she helped coach the Manzano HS tennis team. Throughout her life she loved to garden, sew, play tennis, talk about her family and her animals and loved chocolate. She thanked the Lord every day for the gift of one more day and felt blessed by all she had received from him. JONES -- ANTHONY "TONY" Beloved brother, uncle and friend passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011. Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Walter and Gladys Jones. Tony graduated from John Harris High School and Harrisburg Area Community College. His life-long love of photography led him to videography and his first job in Hershey, Pennsylvania as a television cameraman for the Channel 33 Public Broadcasting Network. In the early '70s, Tony headed out west and settled in Albuquerque, where he fell in love with the land's natural beauty, people, and culture. Tony continued his career in television at KNME, where he worked for several years. He eventually became a free-lance videographer/editor and enjoyed a successful career which took him all over the world. In addition to photography and video editing, Tony also enjoyed fly-fishing and spending time with friends and family, especially his nephew and nieces. As a self-styled political pundit, Tony was often contacted by the Sean Hannity radio show to spar with the host. He could also be heard on local radio shows giving his opinion on the latest state of political affairs. All those who knew Tony will remember and miss him for his ceaseless acts of kindness, lightning-fast wit, wonderfully playful spirit and infectious laugh. Tony was always smiling and enjoyed life every day. His life will live on through those whom he helped by being an organ donor. Tony's parents and his sister, Rachel Broadnax, preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Clary; brothers, Terrell, DeLamar and Milton; nieces, Sara, Amber, Courtlyn, Patricia, Toninette and Tracy; nephew, Christopher; great-nieces, Juliet and Nikkia; and great-nephew, Daniel. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, July 24, 2011, at 4 p.m. at the Albuquerque Center.

LUCERO -- CELIA LEYBA Age 95, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2011, in San Leandro, California. Celia was born on June 16, 1916, to Vitalia C. De Baca and Luis Leyba in Cerrillos, New Mexico, youngest and last survivor of seven siblings. She was married to the Late Reynaldo Lucero on December 2, 1933, also in Cerrillos. She is survived by two daughters, Judy Gonzales of San Leandro, California, and Alice Caywood of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. July 23rd, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cerillos. NICKELS -- KAY HUGHES Age 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1951, died Sunday, July 17, 2011. Kay is survived by her children, Larry Nickels and wife, Danielle, Jennifer Nickels Walters and husband, Glen, David Nickels, Kimberly Nickels Schmidt and husband, Walter, and Julie Nickels Grubbs and husband, Kent. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brandon Walters, Jacob Walters, and Taylor Schmidt. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jerry Nickels. Kay was born in Phoenix, AZ in 1926 and was the only child of Herman and Marie Hughes. Kay graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelors Degree in Human Growth and Development. While at ASU, she took flying lessons and worked at Williams Air Force Base. Kay was a wonderful mother of five and grandmother of three. She was involved in PTA, The Garden Club, and the Assistance League. Kay was a dedicated teacher for 23 years at Santa Domingo Pueblo where she helped develop the school curriculum for the district. Kay's interests included bridge, interior design, antiques, and anything involving her children. They feel blessed to have had a mother as loving and caring during many difficult times. Kay will be missed dearly and is regarded as an amazingly kind soul by all. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, July 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at French - Wyoming Chapel. ORTIZ -- PRISCILLA B. Beloved mother and grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, July 17, 2011, in Wimberley, TX. She was born in San Marcial, NM on April 30, 1915, and was a resident of Albuquerque until her move to Texas in 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Ortiz in 1992; her mother and father, Geronimo and Barbarita Baca; sisters, Sefora and Beatriz; brothers, Joaquin and Hermenez; and daughter-in-law, Marynelle. Priscilla is survived by her sons, Mike Ortiz of Scottsdale, AZ, and David Ortiz, and wife, Arlene, of Wimberley, TX; daughter, Estie Shirley, and husband, Clint; and her granddaughter, April Nicole, and husband, Ronnie, all of Albuquerque. PHILLIPS -- ARLEAN K. Age 83, passed away peacefully at Robin House Assisted Living Facility on Monday, July 18, 2011. She was born February 10, 1928 in the town of Steinauer, NE, to the late Henry and Emma Eismann the oldest of four children. She was raised on a farm in southeastern Nebraska and moved to Albuquerque in 1950, with her husband James M. Phillips, who preceded her in death in 2007. Throughout her life she used her Nebraska farming skills to create extraordinary gardens for her family and Christ Lutheran Church. During her 57 year marriage to James, Arlean was the ultimate domestic engineer always volunteering for PTA, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and numerous other civic duties. She was an accomplished seamstress, cook, and fully supported her husband in his love of cars. She continued this high level of devotion in the support and love of her four grandchildren. Arlean is survived by her daughter, Judy Chapman, and her husband, Ken; son, Bruce Phillips; granddaughters, Erin Lesmeister and her husband, Micah, Monica Sower and husband, Daniel, Michelle Phillips; grandson, Scott Chapman; great-grandson, Landon Sower, all of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Marcia Brooks of Rio Rancho; sister, Delores Eismann; and brother, Donald Eismann, both of Nebraska. The family would like to thank the extraordinary staff at Robin House and Heartland Hospice for their loving care the last several years. SPARKS -- PAUL S. Age 92, of Santa Fe NM passed away on July 18, 2011, due to a good life, natural cause. He was born on September 28, 1918, in Las Vegas, NM, to Ollie May Brogdon Sparks and Paul Augustus Sparks, and married Violette Dale Ferguson Sparks on July 16, 1938, in Fairview, Oklahoma. Paul was preceded in death by his father, mother and beloved wife, four brothers; Dow Carrol Sparks, Wallace Cody Sparks, Harry Cary Sparks, and Raymond Lee Sparks, one angel that never took a breath on earth. He is survived by Patricia L. LaRusch, Sylvia E.Vaughn (Larry), Violette M. Hutchison (Bill), Paul J. Sparks (Rochelle), Davy A. Sparks (Becky), Linda K. Nuttall (Jim), Kathy A. Bright (Jeff), one angel, Suzy J. Baer (Walter aka Yogi). He was blessed with 28 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren. His dad was a railroad man, his mom was the old fashion Baptist wife. He was very big into sports and helping to take care of the family, he worked as a paperboy at a very young age, he worked on a ranch in Oklahoma where he was given a horse to ride to school. Which he gave up for a washing machine for his mother. He was a 112 pound champion at the age of 19 in boxing. Which he always had a good story to tell everyone about the most beautiful brown eye girl he saw in his corner, which he would then go into about many other stories of this pretty girl who captured his heart for 74 years. He was proud to have served his county in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of UA Local #412 for 59 Years. He was a true welder and worked from the west coast to the east coast the north and south with all the states in between. A Viewing will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2011, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm at The Rivera Family of Santa Fe Funeral Options. Services will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Rodeo Baptist Church, on Rodeo Rd. and Richards Ave. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A reception of family and friends will follow at the Lodge of Santa Fe at 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions can be made to the Veterans of foreign War. Pallbearers will be Paul's grandsons. TORRES -- ANITA M. Age 80, a resident of Espanola, passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, following a sudden illness. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Torres; sons, Joey and Vincent Torres; granddaughter, Theresa Cournoyer; brothers, Father Vito and Gilbert C'de Baca. Anita was a retired teacher for the Espanola Public School District. She taught at Holy Cross Catholic School in Santa Cruz and Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo. She was presently active with the Senior Olympics and was looking forward to the summer games next week. Mrs. Torres is survived by her husband, Jeremias "Jerry" Torres of Espanola; son, Jerry Torres, and companion, Michelle of Albuquerque; daughter, Catherine "Tiny" Cournoyer, and husband, Michael of White Rock; brothers and sisters, Consuelo C'de Baca and Zita Gonzales both of Albuquerque, Peggy Tixier of Fort Morgan, CO, and Armando C'de Baca, and wife, Agnes of Denver, CO; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and numerous other loving nephews, nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law and other loved relatives and many friends. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at 7:30 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada.
