Obituary for JONES

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Friday July 22, 2011

ANTHONY "TONY" Beloved brother, uncle and friend passed away Sunday, July 3, 2011. Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Walter and Gladys Jones. Tony graduated from John Harris High School and Harrisburg Area Community College. His life-long love of photography led him to videography and his first job in Hershey, Pennsylvania as a television cameraman for the Channel 33 Public Broadcasting Network. In the early '70s, Tony headed out west and settled in Albuquerque, where he fell in love with the land's natural beauty, people, and culture. Tony continued his career in television at KNME, where he worked for several years. He eventually became a free-lance videographer/editor and enjoyed a successful career which took him all over the world. In addition to photography and video editing, Tony also enjoyed fly-fishing and spending time with friends and family, especially his nephew and nieces. As a self-styled political pundit, Tony was often contacted by the Sean Hannity radio show to spar with the host. He could also be heard on local radio shows giving his opinion on the latest state of political affairs. All those who knew Tony will remember and miss him for his ceaseless acts of kindness, lightning-fast wit, wonderfully playful spirit and infectious laugh. Tony was always smiling and enjoyed life every day. His life will live on through those whom he helped by being an organ donor. Tony's parents and his sister, Rachel Broadnax, preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Clary; brothers, Terrell, DeLamar and Milton; nieces, Sara, Amber, Courtlyn, Patricia, Toninette and Tracy; nephew, Christopher; great-nieces, Juliet and Nikkia; and great-nephew, Daniel. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, July 24, 2011, at 4 p.m. at the Albuquerque Center.
