BACA -- PHILLIP "PILO" "FELIPE" Age 75, a former resident of Santa Fe and a resident of Albuquerque for the past 55 years, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011 with his loving family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Juanita Montoya Baca; children, Liz Marquez and husband, Abel of Peralta, NM and Chris Baca and wife, Leona of Rio Rancho, NM; grandchildren, Tim Sanchez, Shelly Baca, Christopher Baca; great-grandchildren, Richard, Destiny, Dejah, and Robbie; sisters, Ricky Smith and Anita Andrade and husband, Joe; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Pilo was preceded in death by his mother, Cecilia; brother Dalio; and uncle, Tio Juan. He was born on May 1, 1936 in Shafter, TX. Phillip worked for Albuquerque Film Service and Southwest Photo as a photo-finisher. He loved fishing on the Pecos and restoring his 1970 Chevelle. Felipe also loved Spanish music. He had a big-heart, always being there for everyone including his nieces and nephews, to whom he was like a Dad. Pilo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. BARNES -- MARY LOUISE MUIR Age, 86, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, surrounded by her family. Born on December 30, 1924, in Hurley, New Mexico, she spent her early years in mining towns in Colorado and New Mexico. Marilou moved to Albuquerque to attend Albuquerque High School, graduating in 1941, and then began a career at Albuquerque National Bank where she met Paul H. Barnes who became her husband of more than 62 years. He and her eldest daughter, Sandra Joanne Barnes, predeceased her. Marilou is survived by her daughters, Emilou Barnes and her children, Paul Elliott Griswold and Kathryn Emma Elliott, and Paula Barnes-Felfeli, her husband Mitch Felfeli, and their children, Darren Barnes Felfeli, James Paul Felfeli, and Suzanne Marie Felfeli as well as her son-in law Edward D. Graham, Jr. Although Marilou's life was filled with community service activities and hobbies, especially needlework and travel, she was first and foremost a loving, devoted and selfless wife and mother who always thought of her family before herself. She will be sorely missed by all those whose lives she touched. A private family service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011. BARR -- GEORGE A. April 12, 1926 - July 4, 2011 Went to be with the Lord at age 85, after a long battle with multiple myeloma. George was born in Amanda, Ohio, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a parachute rigger. He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and received his degree in Elementary Education. After marrying his wife Donna, they moved to Albuquerque in 1950 where he began his career with Albuquerque Public Schools as a physical education instructor at Lavaland Elementary School. After receiving his Master's Degree in School Administration in 1956, he became a principal at Los Padillas Elementary School. He continued to work as a principal at several schools up and down the valley before retiring from Alameda Elementary School in 1986. After retirement, George continued working with elementary children by volunteering to read with 2nd graders at Kirtland Elementary School. He was a charter member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church and was active in the congregation for many years. George enjoyed playing senior softball, fishing, University of New Mexico Lobo athletics, and lots of traveling. He is survived by his wife, Donna, of 61 years; children, Ronica Caudill and husband Richard, Ned Barr, Rhoda Cain and husband Lee, Alene Hardin and husband John. George also has five grandchildren, Amanda and Bryan Cain, Kelsey Lenzmeier and husband Jason, Wes Hardin, Lynley Herig and husband Mitch. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 5301 Ponderosa Ave. NE, at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22nd. GALLEGOS -- RALPH J. Age 46, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on July 4, 2011. Patrick was very creative and hardworking. He began working in the carpet business with his father's tools, at the age of 16, alongside Mike Garcia. He was a business owner before becoming sole proprietor of Cutting Edge Carpets 17 years ago. He also loved gardening and the outdoors. He was a very generous person with a quick wit. His smile and laughter were contagious. He loved hard, worked hard, and did everything with 100% of his heart. GARDNER -- MARY ERNESTINE Was born on Jan. 20, 1935 in Hutchinson, KS, to Ernest and Susan Zimmerman. She grew up in Windom, KS, and attended West Liberty Mennonite Church. She graduated from Goshen College in 1959 with a teaching degree. She moved to California and taught there until she married Guy Gardner on June 10, 1961. They were transferred with the Navy to Guam. They had their first daughter, Mary Lois, in Feb., 1962. They were transferred back to CA. Had their second daughter, Gayle, in June, 1964. During her married life, she lived in Guam, CA., Puerto Rico, Virginia, Mississippi, and New Mexico. In each of these places she served in the church and shared her faith in Christ Jesus. Mary fought and won several battles with cancer beginning in 1961, when she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, 1973 throat cancer, 1984 throat and lung cancer, 2004 breast cancer, 2006 kidney cancer, and finally 2011 it metastasized. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 2, 2011, and won her fight with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Guy; her mother-in-law, Lois; her daughter, Mary Callahan - husband Harvey; her daughter, Gayle Allen - husband Robert; her grandchildren, Ezra Callahan - wife Ashley, Elizabeth Callahan, Jackie Allen, Kelsey Allen, Heather Allen, and Rachel Allen; a brother, Wayne Zimmerman - wife Marty; and two sisters, Erna Chittenden and Karen Zimmerman; a cousin, Lennette Bonnell. KOSINSKI -- CARLA O. Peacefully departed to be in God's graces on Monday, June 29, 2011. She was the beloved mother extraordinaire of Brian Kosinski, Karen (Jim) Kremsreiter, and Jill (Michael) Plaman; treasured grandmother of Amy, Kristin, Ken, Sara, Kerri, Collin, and Chris; and cherished great-grandmother of ten. She was born September 17, 1924 in Waupaca County, WI. She moved to Milwaukee in 1942 and lived there until 1988, and then she and her husband retired to Albuquerque, NM. In 1997 she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, of 52 years. She is also survived by her dear sister, Stella (Bob) Strand, and numerous other relatives and friends. Her hobbies included Rosemaling (Norwegian folk painting), baking, reading, watching her grandsons, Collin and Chris play hockey, and uplifting the people around her. Her gentle and caring spirit exerted a powerful influence on everyone she met. Her devotion to family and friends was endless, pure and selfless. Although her absence creates an immense void, her remarkable wisdom and boundless love lives on. She left an indelible mark on each of our hearts which will remain with us always. MILLER -- WILLIAM (DOYLE) Passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, surrounded by his devoted and loving family and friends after a valiant battle with cancer. Doyle was born in Albuquerque on March 27, 1962, and is survived by his wife, Liz Miller; daughter, Kailynn; son, Jerrod; and his father and mother, Don and Wilma Miller. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cindy Miller. He was a member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church. He enjoyed coaching his son's baseball and YAFL football teams, and also watching his daughter as she participated in softball and volleyball. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Doyle will be deeply missed by all. REINKE -- RENATE Joined the Lord in Heaven on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 in the presence of family. Renate was born November 14, 1943 in Sudetenland, Czechoslovakia to Johann and Zita Droessler. She is survived by her husband, Guenter; sons, Peter, Thomas and wife Lucille; daughters, Ramona Jenkins and husband Michael Todd, Tanja Jenkins and husband Steven; grandchildren, Nicholas, Mikaela, Kameron, Brianna, Mekenzie, Kadin, Reece, Katreese, Zander and Jenner; her father and wife Vilma; sisters, Margarete, Barbara, Victoria; brothers, William and John; and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Rosemarie; brothers, William and Kurt; and her mother. In 1945, she moved to Munich, Germany where she honed her strong nurturing tendencies while helping raise her younger siblings during the hardships of war. In 1956, she immigrated to Chicago, IL with her family. In 1961, she married the love of her life at age eighteen. In 1979, her family moved to Albuquerque with their dear friends Harald and Katharina Mueller where she spent her last 31 years immersed in her children, grandchildren and friends. Renate had a passion for all things culinary. She was an avid gardener and remarkable dancer. When she and Guenter danced, they were a modern day Fred and Ginger. She was an exceptional seamstress ... a visionary. Regardless of her many natural talents, she always put her family above her passions. SMITH -- ELLEN URSIN Age 92 years old, a resident of Albuquerque, went home to be with the Lord on the 4th of July, 2011. She is survived by her brother, Jim Ursi; sister, Alice Rolfson; son, John R. Smith and his wife, Janet; grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, and Sierra; and great-grandson, Christopher Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Myrl F. Smith; brothers, Trig, Elliott, and Norman Ursin; and her son, Peter Smith. Ellen was born in Barron, Wisconsin, and graduated high school in Wittenberg, Wisconsin. She attended Chicago's St. Luke's Hospital and Training School where she studied nursing and remained on staff after receiving her diploma, while her husband served 29 months overseas during WWII. After moving to Albuquerque in 1957, Ellen worked in the Coronary Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital. After retirement, Ellen discovered several ministries where she could be of service and also volunteered in healthcare. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, golfing, walking in the park, swimming, fishing and boating. Ellen's passion throughout her life, was serving the Lord. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 8, 2011, at 9:00 a.m. at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 4800 Indian School Rd. NE, with Pastor John Dykhuis officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. WILLOUGHBY -- TOMMY GLENN Age 70, of Placitas, NM, went home to be with our Lord on Friday July 1, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Rose Willoughby; daughter, Angela Tanner; son, Monte Willoughby; and three grandchildren, Dalton, Tommy & Madison Willoughby; brothers, EW Willoughby Jr., James Willoughby and his wife, Lela Willoughby; three sisters, Maxine White and her husband, Arnold White, Betty Norton, Joyce Phillips and her husband, Jimmy Phillips. He was preceded in death by father, EW Willoughby Sr.; mother, H. Frances (Brown) Willoughby; and brother, Gary Willoughby. Tommy was born in Dallas, TX, on January 17, 1941. He served in the US Army from 1958-1961. He was a teenage evangelist and earned a Bachelor's Degree from the Blackstone School of Law. Tommy was also a Singer/Songwriter, Real Estate Broker and Investor. Services will be held July 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo NE, ABQ, NM. He will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
