APODACA -- CONNIE A. Native of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011 after a lengthy illness. Connie is survived by her partner, Marie Moe; sisters, Marleen Apodaca, Adeline Apodaca (Janice Miranda), and Anna Mae Apodaca; nephew, Cael John Paul Apodaca; brother-in-law, Robert V. Hill; sister-in-law, Beverly Apodaca; close friends, Rose Perea and Maria Rachel Aragon; stepbrother, Joe Newstrom; and numerous other relatives and friends. Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Pauline Apodaca; and brother, Johnny M. Apodaca. Connie started working at a very early age, and continued to work until 2010. Connie was an avid fast-pitch softball player in her younger years, loved music and dancing, and touched many lives through her compassion, kindness and guidance. Her smile and laughter were contagious. She will always be remembered and dearly missed by many. DOMENICI -- CATHERINE passed away peacefully on June 13, 2011. Catherine was born December 30, 1927. She was a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert of 52 years. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Domenici of New York and her husband Larry Saunders, Karen Domenici of Alexandria, VA, her husband Rolf Ness; as well as granddaughters Kristina and Isabella Ness. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Jeanette and Jerry Monahan and sisters-in law Theresa Menicucci, her husband Mario, Lilly Tomasi, her husband John, Frances Domenici; and her brothers-in-law George and Charlie Domenici. She had numerous nieces and nephews whom were all considered her "favorite". Catherine was a member of P.E.O. She enjoyed volunteer work and served at St. Joseph's Hospital, The Brothers of the Good Shepherd, and was also a member of her Neighborhood Association. She loved music and was on the board of the Albuquerque chapter of the Santa Fe Opera for several years. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was baptized, confirmed and married there. Her focus in life was her family, friends, and her community. She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, June 20, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. DOMINGUEZ -- ALFREDO, JR. Age 76, of Chamisal, NM, died Saturday, June 11, 2011, with Nancy, his wife of 50 years, at his side. He was one of eleven children born to Rosinalda and Alfredo Dominguez, Sr. Alfredo graduated from Penasco High School. After graduation, he served his country in the US Army following the Korean War. Upon his return, Alfredo continued his education at New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, where he earned his BS degree in Biology and MA degree in Education Administration. Alfredo was selected, and participated as a Fellow for the National Science Foundation at Notre Dame University. He was very committed to his community and taught at Penasco High School, Laguna/Acoma and Vaughn High Schools. Alfredo then served as an administrator, both as a high school principal in Pecos, Questa, and Penasco, and as Director of Instruction at Questa. He retired from the public school system after 25 years of service. Alfredo also was a school board member for the Penasco Public School, and was recognized by the National School Board Association. He was also a board member of the Kit Carson Electrical Cooperative. Alfredo was appointed by the Governor to serve as a director of the Acequia Commission. He was actively involved in the Democratic Party, serving as Precinct Chair for many years, and as a State Central Committee Member. Alfredo is survived by his wife Nancy; children, Stephanie Leon and husband Ricky, Alfredo Dominguez, III and wife Elizabeth, and Maria Dominguez and husband Bruce Fox; brothers, Rudolfo Dominguez, Arsenio Dominguez and wife Della, Joe Dominguez and wife Linda; sisters, Alice Gonzales and husband Nash, Rose Salazar and husband Leroy, Jessie Tapia and husband George; sister-in-law, Bernie Dominguez; grandchildren Ricardo, Rosanna, Timothy, Joseph, and Spencer; three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Manuel Dominguez and Cosme Dominguez; sisters, Blanche Romero and Isabel Dominguez. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 17, at 2:00 PM, at French-Westside Chapel. FERGUSON -- GEORGE LEWIS Age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2011 in Albuquerque, NM. Born in Booneville, AR., he later resided in Lakeland, Florida before moving to Albuquerque in 2003. George has two surviving daughters, Pamela Sue Young of Albuquerque and Sheryl Anne Odom of Plant City, Florida; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. GREEN -- WILLIAM H. Age 68, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Robin; son, David Green; grandchildren, Crystal Sweeney, John Sweeney, and Brittany Sweeney; and two great-grandchildren, all of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Sweeney; and his parents, William and Rosie Green. As a teenager, Bill earned the coveted Eagle Scout award, and the values instilled in him through scouting contributed greatly to shaping his entire adult life. He was retired from Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), where he was responsible for analyzing fire fighting capabilities in cities, towns, villages, and fire districts throughout New Mexico and determining the applicable fire insurance protection classification. He was tapped on countless occasions to provide critical review and input to policies and procedures governing community fire protection classifications nationwide. Earlier in his career he had become an acknowledged expert in the insurance analysis of commercial properties, specializing in those protected by fire protection sprinkler systems. He held the designation of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter. Bill also enjoyed a more than 45 year involvement in the sport of purebred dogs, becoming an approved American Kennel Club dog show judge, occupying various offices and positions in several dog clubs in the Albuquerque area, and serving as Rio Grande Kennel Club's delegate to the American Kennel Club since 2002. In his "spare" time, Bill could often be found pursuing his love of fly-fishing, hunting, photography, and embracing New Mexico's many natural wonders. Bill's ashes will rest in a special place somewhere in the New Mexico outdoors that he cherished so much. GUTIERREZ -- SANTIAGO SR. February 3, 1935 - June 11, 2011 Santiago Gutierrez Sr., 76, of Fruitland , NM passed from this life on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington , New Mexico . He was born in Bernalillo to Teresita and Albino Gutierrez. He served proudly in the United States Army. After 25 years with the Department of Transportation, Shiprock Port of Entry he happily retired and spent his days building crooked fixtures, and planting big bushy trees. He wasn't the best architect but he left behind a lot of beautifully semi-slanted fences for us to sit on and remember him by. He was preceded in death by his parents Teresita and Albino Gutierrez; his brother Richard; and his sister Cordelia Gonzalez. He is survived by his sons Marcos Gutierrez, Santiago Gutierrez Jr., Tito Gutierrez, Bobby Gutierrez, Jimmy-Dean Gutierrez; and daughters Linda Deuel, Veronica Marquez, Evelyn Gutierrez, and Victoria Gutierrez; and numerous grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren; his brothers Frank Gutierrez; and his sisters Lillian Duran, Veva Lucero, Fita Marquez, and Abundia Gutierrez-Miller. Dad had a special right hand angel that took constant care of him, and loved him very much. His "Special Angel's" name is Leanette Gutierrez. Sarah Jane Lapahie was his constant companion throughout his life, and even though they divorced some years back they remained friends until the very end. Santiago Sr. was a loving father and doting grandfather who liked to sit outside on his lawn and water his trees. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 17 at Brewer Lee & Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute, Farmington . HART -- SANDRA JEAN Age 62, died June 11, 2011. She was born in Albuquerque and lived in and around the area most of her life. She was very active with the Lion's Club of Moriarty, serving as an officer for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband Mike Hart. Sandy spent the last 20 years of her life working with "911" in Valencia and Torrance Counties. KOONTZ -- JASPER F. Lifelong rancher and cowboy, age 96, died at his home in Corrales on Thursday, June 9, 2011. He was born in Inez, Texas, on March 25, 1915. He was orphaned at the age of seven and was reared by several aunts and uncles in south Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1938 and served for several years in the US Army. After leaving the Army, he worked for his uncle, James E. Baylor, in west Texas and Durango, Mexico as a rancher. In 1946, he began a lifelong adventure with his wife, Ella Dee, ranching in Alpine, TX. In 1948, Jasper and his cousin, James Baylor, Jr. purchased a portion of the Alameda Land Grant on the west mesa of Albuquerque, which is now Rio Rancho, where they ranched until the mid sixties. The ranch headquarters were located at their historic home in Corrales. In 1964, Jasper and Ella Dee purchased a ranch in Ft. Sumner, NM and lived there until 1973 when they returned to their home in Corrales. He was a devoted husband and was a father, mentor and partner with all three of his children during their various endeavors. He spent his later years in life team roping and pursuing his lifelong avocation of being a true cowboy. He was named New Mexico Cattleman of the Year in 1977 by the NM Cattle Grower's Association and was a gold card member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and a lifetime member of the United States Team Roping Championships. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Francis Clare Koontz. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ella Dee Koontz of Corrales; his son Jim and his wife, Marilee, of Ft. Sumner, NM; his son, Court and his wife, Anne, of Corrales; his grandson, Clay Koontz and his wife, Lisa, of Albuquerque; his grandson, Justin Koontz and his wife, Taylor, of Lubbock, TX; his grandson, Jasper Koontz, of Chandler, AZ; his grandson, Courtenay W. Koontz of Corrales, and three great-grandchildren. MCLAUGHLIN -- CHARLES (CHUCK) Age 59, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 12, 2011 at home. Chuck is survived by his wife and best friend of 42 years, Judi; children, Andrew (Lisa) McLaughlin and Mary (Leo) Galvez; grandchildren, Alexandra and Jordan Galvez, Sydney, Kellen and Finn McLaughlin; mother, Naomi (Floyd) Curtis; sister, Christie Weddington; and brother, Joseph Bruno. Chuck was a District Sales Manager for an international wholesale baking company. He was in the bread business for over 30 years in New Mexico and Colorado. Chuck was actively involved in numerous charitable organizations and served as a member of the National Board of the Irish Freedom Committee. MIRABAL -- GENEVIEVE AQUIAR nee Saucedo, serenely slipped away from this life into the arms of our Lord at her home in Rio Rancho on Friday, June 3, 2011. She was born in Deming, New Mexico to Juan and Savina Saucedo on January 3, 1915. She left behind her brother, Demetrio Saucedo, from Deming, NM; daughter, Irene and her husband, Juan Trujillo, from Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Sally Mitchell from Many Farms, AZ; daughter, Maria and husband, Deacon Tom Burns, from Rio Rancho, NM.; and daughter-in law, Enedina Aquiar, of El Paso, TX. She was blessed with many grandchildren, Diana (Dan) Perez, Veronica (Andrew) Baca, Kathryn Aquiar, Peter Aquiar, Beatriz Aquiar, Izzy Aquiar, Rebecca (Hector) Esparza, Theresa Ruiz (Manuel), Rafael Gonzales, Maria Mitchell (Eric) Jackson, Selita Mitchell, Katchee Lee (Leslie) Mitchell, Christopher (Elysha) Cowles, Stephen Cowles, William (Kristy) Tinney, Deanna Aquiar, Phillip (Sandra) Burns, and Paul Burns. In addition, she had 30 great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jose Aquiar; second husband, Ramon Mirabal; her sons, Samuel Aquiar and Peter Aquiar; daughter, Rosie Cowles; son-in-law, LeRoy Mitchell; grandsons, Israel and Joe Aquiar; great-grandson, Robert Campa; brothers, Manuel Saucedo, Tomas Saucedo, Miguel Saucedo, Felipe Saucedo, Juan Saucedo, David Saucedo, Alberto Saucedo, and Carlos Saucedo; and sisters, Leonardita, Seveita, and Refugia. She was a communicant at St. Thomas Aquinas. She was a homemaker, loving mother, and doting grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and a kind and gentle spirit. MONTANO -- FRANCISCO 1940-2011 On June 15, 2011, we lost our loving husband and father after a long battle with cancer. He will always be our hero. Francisco, "Frank" Montano, age 71, a resident of Veguita, NM, passed away on Wednesday. He was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church as well as the Knights of Columbus. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Air force. He loved riding his Harley and spending time with his friends and family. RANDOLPH -- KRISTIAN DANIELLE Age 29, left this life on Saturday, May 28, 2011 to find eternal peace in God's kingdom. She was born July 1, 1981 in Farmington, NM. She is survived by per parents, Gary and Twila (Hale) Randolph; brother Kent Randolph; the light of her life, son, Haeden Oliver Pridgen, 4, and his father Kirk Pridgen; grandmothers, Barbara Randolph (Farmington) & Jeanine Hale (Albuquerque); aunts and uncles, Dale & Georgie Randolph (Alaska); Starla and Don Dahlstrom (Washington), Casey and Michelle Hale (Albuquerque), Deborah Adams (Farmington), Vernon and Kay Zarlingo and family (Arizona), and Niobe Zarlingo & family (Wyoming). Although surrounded by the love of many cousins, Kristian's life was enriched by those which she shared a special bond; Katelyn and Karlee Dahlstrom, Anthony, Autumn and Aaron Valdo, and Christopher and Robert Adams. Kristian's life was shared by cherished friends whom she loved; Brooke and Jodi Fly (Clovis), and Elise Swaving Corley (Prague). She was proceeded in death by her grandfathers, Clay Hale and Robert Randolph. She attended Eldorado High School and Eastern New Mexico University. Her favorite quote was "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened". Kristian was a mother, daughter, sister, cousin and friend that brought joy to the lives of all and those who knew her cannot help but smile because she happened. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., at St Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd., NE, Albuquerque. A time for fellowship will follow at the church. SAXTON -- JONATHAN (JON) Age 25, died June 12, 2011. He is survived by his parents, Ron and Lorraine Saxton; sister, Gwendolyn Prestien; grandma, Marion Prestien; nephew, Eian; niece, Aubrey; fiancee, Staci Frye; children, Mikaela and Ezekiel; and many family and friends. Jon attended Cibola High School. He was a competitive gymnast, avid snowboarder, and Eagle Scout. He worked as a pressman for several years and was attending CNM. Jonathan was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Services will be Friday, June 17, 2011, 10:00 am, at French - Westside Chapel. SKINNER -- CRAIG DANIEL Age 47, lived hard, played hard, and passed from this world on June 14, 2011 with no regrets. Beloved son, brother, father, widower, and special love to Sue. Craig will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and enormous forgiving heart. Known by his mom as her "gentle giant", and by his siblings as "Squirt", he was an influence to us all. TOBIN -- CONNIE NIETO Age 51, of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, June 15, 2011. Connie was a loving wife and devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed motorcycle trips with Dave and riding her horse Rowdy. She is survived by her husband, Dave Tobin; son, John Morales; step-son, Nick Tobin; step-daughters, Felicia Tobin and Jenie Tobin Starks; father, Richard Reynoso; step-mother Carol Reynoso; mother, Mary Alice Osterberg; brothers, Pete, Ben, Ed, Richard Jr., Anthony, and Patrick; sisters, Lucy, Lorraine, Terri, Rosemary, and Regina; grandchildren, Teah, Eddie, Devin, Ellie, and Emma. She was preceded in death by her son, Eddie Morales and grandson Evan Morales. A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 19, at 2:00 PM, at French-Westside Chapel.
