ADLE -- Freida Chidester Hunter Kuiper Adle died Saturday, February 5, 2011 in Albuquerque, NM. Freida Val Chidester was born May 18th, 1911 to Frederick Ellsworth and Gertrude (Unger) Chidester in Kentland, IN. She graduated from Kentland High School in 1929, attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN and Lafayette Business College. In 1932, she was married to C. Keith Hunter, a graduate of Purdue's School of Pharmacy. They moved to Lowell, IN to purchase a drug store (Freida's parents gave them a soda fountain for their wedding present). She was his helpmate in the store. A son, James Rondal, was born in 1938 and a daughter, Mary Lynn, in 1942. In 1947, they sold the Lowell store to purchase a drug store in Lincoln, IL. In 1951, Keith died of a cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 44. Freida and the children moved to Valparaiso, IN to be near her sister, Dorisann Wetmore. In June of 1953, she married Christ Kuiper and returned to Lowell. They moved to Florida in the 1960's joining the Jensen Beach Baptist Church where she served as church secretary and organist for over a decade. Her second husband died in 1974. Freida married Rees Adle in April of 1976. Upon his death in 2005, she moved to Albuquerque to be near her son, Ron and wife, Joy. Her last three years were spent in the loving care of the staff at Meadow's Senior Care. Church and its music were an integral part of her whole life, as well as traveling, including a round-the-world trip in 1970. Freida was preceded in death by her three husbands; her parents; sisters, Celesta and Dorisann; and her grandson, Paul Keith Swan. She is survived by her son, Ron Hunter and wife, Joy of Albuquerque; daughter, Lynn Swan and husband, Robert of Dickens, IA; step-daughter, Doris Kuiper of Gunnison, CO; seven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. ARMIJO -- Ricardo W. Armijo, 76, loving father grandfather, and native of Albuquerque, passed away on February 2, 2011. He is survived by his sons; Greg Armijo and Dorothy Medina; Donald Armijo and wife Debbie; Martin Armijo; grandchildren; Nicole, Rachel, Michael, Victoria, Vincent, and Stone; one great-granddaughter, Serenity; sister, Reyna Salazar and husband, Frank; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Dina. Ricardo proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1956 as a physician's assistant in Korea. He was an active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus for many years. Ricardo retired from the U.S. Forest Service after 31 years. He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, and all who knew and loved him. Cremation has taken place. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at French ~ Lomas Chapel. BACA -- Teyo Baca passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family by his side. Teyo left this life as a Angel to be with our Heavenly Father. Teyo was born January 21, 1981 and was a long time resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Damacio and Anita Apodaca; and beloved sister Maria our shining star. He is survived by his beloved mother Carmen and stepfather Albert; siblings, Daniel, Gus, Johnny and wife Raquel, Charmaine and partner Stephine; five special nieces, Jalissa Rosa, Jennifer Erica, Natiale, Dri; one special nephew Ralph Jr.; and one special great-grandnephew Joseph. And a special thanks to our loving family and friends for your support and special thanks to uncle Fred Apodaca and wife Susan Apodaca and special thanks to Hospice de La Luz for all the care you provided for my son. CHAMBLER -- Bob. In the security of his home and the comfort of his family, Bob Chalmers died Sunday, February 6th, after a long illness at the age of 82. Bob Chalmers was a member of the Belen Baha'i Community. Bob was a graduate of Stanford University, a Navy pilot, an engineer for Boeing, a missionary to Ecuador for his Faith, a small-business owner, but most of all --a family man. He leaves behind his beautiful wife of 53 years, Joyce Lee; and their three children; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Graveside prayers will be said at Terrace Grove Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. These will be followed by a Memorial Service at Noblin Funeral Home of Belen at 10:30 a.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Belen Ambercare Hospice. COMPTON -- James "Jim" C. Compton Jr., 67, of Portales, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 43 years; two sisters and their families; two sons with their spouses; and two grandchildren. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law in 1968 he practiced business law in Albuquerque and Santa Fe for over 40 years. His love of practicing law was evident to his last day. Per Jim's wishes, no services are planned. The family would greatly appreciate donations and/or volunteer services to The Storehouse in lieu of flowers. His thoughtfulness, humility and endless curiosity will be missed.

GARY -- Carl R. Gary, 86, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM, gently passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011. One of seven children, Mr. Gary was born on October 18, 1924 to Anthony and Pauline (Sokowolski) Gurczynski of Detroit, MI. He graduated from Chadsey High School in Detroit, MI. After high school, he very proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Of all Mr. Gary's accomplishments, his greatest was his devotion to his beloved wife and his three children, and he found very special pride and pleasure in his three grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Philip Gary. Mr. Gary is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice, of Rio Rancho, NM; children, Paula Smith and her husband, David, of Rio Rancho, NM, and Michael Gary of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Alexa Jacoby, Donald Gary, and Mathew Gary; siblings, Alphonse, Donald, and Lorraine; and numerous nieces and nephews. KUNREL -- Wayne A. In loving memory July 31, 1928 - February 4, 2011. Dad passed away on Friday, February 4, 2011. Preceded in death by his beloved bride of 50 years Margaret E. Kunkel; two of their three children John A. and Elaine Marie Kunkel; siblings Helen and three brothers Erwin, Stanley and Harry Kunkel. He is survived by one son James D.; grandson Zachary Wayane; granddaughter Kristen Renee; and brother Ray Kunkel and family. A devoted Korean War Veteran, Dad retired from the Air Force in 1966. He continued flying until 1971 when a mild heart attack ended his career. He spent the last 20 years as a sheet metal mechanic happily "Bending Tin" for preferred plumbing. Dad was madly in love with his bride and life, believed in the Golden rule and was very personable and social. He loved people and telling his stories from "Waynes World". From five to one Dad, you have no idea how much you will be missed. I love you all. James. LEHMAN -- Dr. Thomas Patrick Lehman, 49, passed into God's loving arms on Friday, February 4, 2011. Tom was born May 23, 1961 and raised in Belleville, IL. He courageously battled Multiple Myeloma since 2006. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Mary, and lovely daughter, Chelsea. Tom and Mary made Albuquerque their home in 1986. Tom was a Doctor of Chiropractic and was in private practice for 25 years. He embraced his wife and daughter with love and devotion. Tom was an outstanding athlete throughout his entire life. He loved ice hockey and fastpitch softball and continued his love of ice hockey during his illness. His fastpitch career was both exciting and rewarding and was honored by his induction into the Albuquerque Softball/Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007. For the love of the game, he donated his time and services to the Albuquerque Isotopes and Scorpions Hockey Team. Tom was preceded in death by his father, James A. Lehman. Tom is survived by his wife Mary (Bauer) Lehman; and daughter, Chelsea Lehman; mother, Kathryn Lehman; brothers, James, John and Joseph; sisters, Cathy Behrmann, Susan Cannady, Linda Macke; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tom will be remembered as a very proud and loving father, a devoted husband and a great and generous friend to many. LISTON -- Norine M. Liston, 98, of Tijeras, NM passed away in Albuquerque, NM on Friday, February 4, 2011. Norine was born in Petty, TX on December 25, 1912 to Fred and Nola Mary (Carlton) McDowell. She was a longtime resident of Tijeras, NM. She had an Associates Degree and was a substitute school teacher and Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Highland Baptist Church. Norine was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Blake J. Liston who preceded her in death in 1986. She is survived by her son, Jerry B. Liston, his wife Mary and their son Stephen S. LOFGREN -- Robert F. Lofgren, 84, died February 6, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Mary, his children; James Lofgren and wife Mary, Barbara Lofgren and husband Klaus Schuerrle and Karen Lofgren Brandt and husband Bill; He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kevin, Brian, Lauren and Erica, his brother; Gordon Lofgren and wife Mona and nephew Gordon II. Mr. Lofgren was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Lofgren. Mr. Lofgren was a graduate of Wethersfield High School, Kewanee, IL, served his country in the United States Army during WW II and upon his return received his Bachelors degree from Knox College, Galesburg, IL. Robert worked in Chicago as an Investment Analyst for over 36 years before retiring in 1986 and relocating with Mary to Albuquerque, NM in 1991. Mr. Lofgren was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed. SANCHEZ -- Sofia Melba Gabaldon Sanchez, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Sofia enjoyed doing crafts, coloring with her grandchildren and spending time with sisters. She loved to be outdoors, gardening and camping. Sofia loved life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leandro and Candelaria Sanchez; son, Clyde Scoggins; brother, Ruben Sanchez; sister, Emma Sanchez; and two grandchildren, Thomas and Elizabeth Scoggins. SAVAGE -- Llewellyn T. Savage, 75, died Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Spanish Oaks Retreat in Savannah. Born December 3, 1935 in Concord, MA, he was the son of the late Llewellyn T. and Frances Keyes Savage. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Electrical Engineering. His career included positions with Sandia Labs, Xerox Corp., and Eastman Kodak. Lew was a member of the Mayflower Society, the Sons of the American Revolution and the Landings Club. He enjoyed fishing and golf as well as estate and garage sales, collecting antique watches and clocks. Lew will always be remembered for his zest for life, quick wit, and love of music. Surviving are his loving wife, Christine Sherman Savage; daughters, Jessica of Corpus Christi, TX, Erica of Durham, NC; sons, Adam of Albuquerque, NM, and Ethan of Boise, ID; grandson Hunter of Albuquerque, NM; nieces Adrienne Fesler (Curt), Karyn Sundstrom (Neil), and Janet Donahue (Larry); great-niece and nephews. SCHANWALD -- Walter Schanwald, 81, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 4, 2011, after a long and wonderful life. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Laura; and his daughters, Lori and Lynn. Walter served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. SCHMIDT -- Rennald C. In Loving Memory of Rennald "Randy" C. Schmidt November 9, 1934 - January 17, 2011 Rennald "Randy" was born in Hanover, Illinois to Grace "Viola" Olson Schmidt and Carl W. Schmidt. The family moved to Nashua, Iowa where he spent his formative years and he attended college in Ames, Iowa. From assembling model airplanes in the family basement to getting his private pilots license, owning his first plane, eventually a second and third, Randy loved the freedom of flying. He volunteered for military service with the U.S. Army in 1957 and spent the next two years stationed in Germany as a "Fixed and Rotary Wing Aircraft Mechanic." Additionally, Randy spent four more years of honorable service within the U.S. Naval Reserve Aviation. Randy's career encompassed over 35 years in the Aerospace and Commercial industries as a Quality/Product Assurance Engineer. Of particular note was his exemplary professionalism during this period having received numerous awards and citations for NASA and Department of Defense programs such as the Galileo Spacecraft, Challenger shuttle, and Viking Program (Mars lander camera system). Members of the Arabian Horse Association New Mexico and owners of Califia Arabians, He and Phyllis have enjoyed his passion of breeding and raising Arabian horses for the past 20 years. Randy was a veritable encyclopedia of Arabian horse history and breeding. He was both dedicated and knowledgeable towards this endeavor, enjoying the sharing of breeding and lineages (which he could quote) with all involved. Randy recently delved into the "Working Western" division and was considering breeding for reining prospects. Randy is survived by his beloved wife Phyllis and her daughter Christina; his daughter Carrie; and granddaughter Alex; his son Bill; sister's Jeanine, Gladys, and Faye, his brother Jerry and many extended family members.

SILLIMAN -- Carole R. Silliman, (74), a resident of Albuquerque, passed away at home on Saturday, February 5, 2011. Carole was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle; her parents and all of her siblings. She is survived by her three children, Steve Silliman and wife, Jennifer, Pam Delgado and husband, Chris, Vickie Meyer and husband, Mark. Carole was a grandmother and great grandmother to: Doug Silliman, wife, Anna and daughter, Brooklyn, Clay Silliman, Adam Delgado, wife, Sara and daughters; Kendra and Krysta; Stacie Delgado, and Kyle Meyer and wife, Alyson. Carole was a member of the Silver Spur Cowbelles, a member of the New Mexico Dismantlers' Association and the New Mexico Wrecker Operators' Association. Carole was also a member of the New Mexico and Colorado Buckskin Horse Association. She co-owned and operated Baker Commodities Inc., South Coors Towing and Truck Salvage Inc., and Silliman S/ Ranch. Carole was an avid supporter of high school athletics, FFA and 4-H Youth in New Mexico and Colorado. VAN CASTER -- Robert (Bob) Van Caster, born June 16, 1944 in Green Bay, Wisconsin, died February 3, 2011 in Albuquerque at the age of 65. Bob is survived by his wife of 42 years Grace (Lopez) Van Caster; his sons, Brian Sr.(wife Maria) and Christopher; daughter Kimberly Ann (husband Todd Roff.); grandchildren, Brian Jr., Braden, Ashton, Teran, and Kasey; his sister Sue Patski (husband Richard); his brother Jack; and Goddaughters, Selina Sutton and Jessie Hornsten. Bob served one-term in the United States Army as a Policeman, and worked in the Albuquerque VA hospital for ten years. Bob's favorite life-activities were boating, camping, wood crafting, and socializing with Friends and Family. Bob had very special relationships with all of his nieces and nephews. He was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan - Go Pack!!
