Dick was born February 11, 1920 in Albuquerque at Presbyterian Hospital to Gertrude and Roy Strome. He spent his childhood, which mirrored the "Little Rascals," in Albuquerque with his younger brother Thomas. Dick was a 1936 graduate of Albuquerque High School. Examples ranged from oil portraits to a large snow sculpture of Lincoln's head inspired by a five dollar bill and a two foot deep snow storm in the 1950's. Dick and Elaine traveled the world together and he continued his world travels after Elaine's death in 1995.
