BARTH -- Don L. Barth was reunited with his twin sister Donna and his parents Sol and Ruth Barth on Sunday, October 24, 2010. He will be remembered by his wife of 30 years, Dotti; son, Matt and wife Krystle; sister, Linda; and brothers, Chuck and Jim and wife Kat; as well as many family and friends. Don was most proud of his service in the US Army 25th Infantry in Vietnam from 1966-67. Don will be remembered as a great story-teller and master of BS. A celebration of Don's life will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., at French - University Chapel. Burial with honors will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. BELT -- David M. Belt, 55, died October 22, 2010. He is survived by his daughter Lyndsey Belt; mother, Sue Belt; sister, Norma Stepter and husband Eugene; sister, Johnnie Belt; brother, Barry Belt and wife, Sarah; his loving nieces and nephews, numerous other family and his friends. In the last two years, David was his mother's best friend and caregiver. David loved to fish and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan since childhood. Dave had a big heart and never met a stranger. He lived out loud and will be greatly missed. Cremation will take place and a Memorial Celebration took place during Monday night's Dallas Cowboys football game and celebration of his life will be ongoing. BONAL -- Arthur Raymond. The Bonal family has lost one of their pillars. On October 25, 2010, Arthur Raymond Bonal succumbed to cancer. Arthur is survived by his wife Susan; son David (Nedra); his mother Teresa; sister Teresa Fox (Richard); sister Lourdes Romero (Gerald); brother Maurice (Diana); sister Yvonne; brother Charles (Sam); brother Gerard; and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Cristo Rey Church, followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon, Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Saint Francis Cathedral Basilica, followed by burial services at Rosario Chapel and interment at Rosario Cemetery. CARTER -- Victor Ben Carter, a resident of Bear Canyon Estates in Albuquerque, N.M., passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2010. He was born in 1921, on a farm in Wilmore, K.S., to the late Cleveland and Agnes Hopkins Carter. Victor graduated from High School in Coldwater, K.S., in 1939, where he played in the first football game ever saw. He attended San Diego State College where he majored in Geology and Physics. Victor enjoyed an interesting career in geology during the Uranium boom in Grants, N.M. He then pursued a career in commercial flying and airport management, and ended his career as a wild cat oil driller in Eastern Kansas. His favorite saying was "never be afraid to be different". Throughout his life he loved music and loved to dance. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Debberine Georgia Eckles. Victor is survived by his two children, Janet F. Tietjen and James W. Carter; two sisters; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Terrace Grove Cemetery in Belen, N.M., where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Debbie. HUNING -- John L. "Jack" Huning, age 81, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2010. Jack was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Mary Etta Bell. He is survived by his three children, Tyler, Eilene, and Nancy. Jack was born in Albuquerque on November 29, 1928 and spent much of his childhood in Los Lunas. He graduated from Albuquerque High and earned a B.A. in Animal Husbandry from Colorado State University. Jack took over operations of the livestock part of the family business where he received numerous awards from organizations ranging from NM Livestock Growers Association to N.A.I.O.P. (a commercial real estate development association) and the P.C.A. (Production Credit Association) where he served as chairman and on the board of directors for many years. He received a lifetime member award from Albuquerque Economic Development, Inc. Jack was also a member of the Urban Land Institute, and a lifelong member of Rotary International. He was a devout member of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral and then St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. Jack will be remembered as a loving father, loyal friend, and for his generous community support and service. Services will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver SW. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. JOHNSON -- Joyce Howard Johnson, formerly of Hobbs, passed away at her home in Albuquerque on October 24, 2010. Joyce was born in Chicago, IL to Percy and Regina Howard. She attended Avery Coonley School in Downers Grove, IL and was a graduate of Branson High School, Branson, MO and Pittsburgh Teachers College in Pittsburgh, KS. She obtained her M.A. in education from UNM. She moved from Branson to Hobbs NM in 1956 and taught in the public schools off and on until her retirment in 1995. She also taught a legendary private kindergarten at the First Presbyterian Church for 12 years. Joyce ended her professional career teaching in the gifted program in Hobbs. Joyce had numerous interests, including gardening, entertaining, listening to jazz, weaving, knitting, reading and traveling. She will best be remembered for her influence on her many students over the years, her loyalty and discretion as a friend and mother, and her wonderful sense of humor. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Johnson, retired district judge from the Fifth Judicial District. She is survived by her daughter, Regina Elise Johnson of Albuquerque; nephew Jamie Howard and wife Natascha; sister-in-law Emmie Seaman; brother James D. Howard; the KnitWits, her beloved weekly knitting group members; and her many other friends in the community of Hobbs and elsewhere. A memorial service and celebration of Joyce's life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Hobbs, Saturday, November 6, 2010.

KING -- Margarete King passed away October 20, 2010 at her home in Albuquerque. Margarete was born June 17, 1923 in Breslau, Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, William King. Margarete spent her life making a warm and welcoming home for her family and friends wherever William's career took the family. Margarete is survived by son, William, Jr., and grandson, Christian, of Albuquerque; son, Steven, and wife, Mary Ann, and grandsons Steven and Chance, of Redondo Beach, California; daughter, Karoline, and husband, Curtis Freeman, of Bastrop, Texas; and daughter, Constance, and husband, Reed Upton, of Albuquerque, and step-granddaughter Alexandra, of Oakland, California. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth, and husband, John McCarthy, of Easton, Maryland, and family stretching from Wisconsin to New York to Germany and Hawaii. MONTOYA -- Aurelio "Lelo" " Monty" Montoya, 96, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 22, 2010. Mr. Montoya was a native New Mexican, born and raised in Old Town, Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Della "Deluvina" Saiz Montoya; son, Fidel, who died in infancy, his father Fidel Montoya; his mother Sofronia Montoya, all of Old Town; brothers, Fidel Montoya and Cipriano "Pano" Montoya, and his sister, Flossie Cordova. He is survived by his daughter, Fran Phipps and husband Paul; his son, Robbie Montoya; grandchildren, Barry Phipps and Lisa Vencill and husband William; sisters, Rose Zamora and Mela Duran and husband Cleto, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Montoya was a beloved member of the community and will be dearly missed by all. The family would like to thank Kaseman Hospice for the wonderful care their father received. Cremation has taken place. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at French ~ Lomas chapel. ROMERO -- Maria Ernina "Ernie" Romero, 82, died peacefully in her sleep early on Sunday, October 24, 2010 in the loving arms of her daughter, Gerri McCallister. Her memory will live on in her children, Gerri McCallister of Albuquerque, Patty Vendzules and her husband, Michael of Great Falls, VA and Ed Romero and his wife, Maria of Dallas, TX; She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Jason Vendzules and wife, Sarah of Brooklyn, NY, Kellie Matijasevic and husband, Michael of Dallas, TX, Julia Vendzules of Washington DC, Chris Romero, currently in the Army and serving our country in Afghanistan; and great-grandson, Cooper Christopher Matijasevic; Ernie is survived by her brother, George Montoya and wife, Clara of Velarde, NM; sister, Rosalie Valdez and husband, Joe of Albuquerque; and numerous other relatives and lifelong friends. Ernie was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Romero in 2003; and her dear grandson, Christopher McCallister in 2006. Ernie was born on October 15, 1928 in Velarde, NM, the sixth of seven children to Eleazar and Manuelita Montoya and lived there until her marriage to her only sweetheart, Pat Romero in 1952. She accompanied Pat in his many travels with the United States Air Force. Ernie and Pat were married and in love for 50 years. Ernie was a longtime member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Ernie will be remembered for her wonderful smile and special dedication to her grandchildren. SEDILLO -- Joseph (Lolo), 81, of Albuquerque, NM passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2010. He was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Sedillo. Lolo was born January 31, 1929 in Albuquerque. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served proudly in the Korean War. He is survived by his beloved wife Emma of 57 years; daughter Melissa and husband Rudy Cota Jr; and Justine and fiance Abe Dimas; grandchildren Gilbert Soto, Chantel Cota, Rudy Cota III, Kimberly Gutierrez; and great grandson Andres Aragon; numerous nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his two brothers and sister. Lolo will be missed by all who knew him. He was an exceptional man, loving husband and father. He was adored by his grandchildren and great grandson. Bill had been a member of the Solo Club, where he met his wife, Dawn, American Legion Post 49, Victory Church, and Bear Canyon Senior Center. He is survived by his wife, Hila Dawn Williams; daughter, Mia Williams; nieces, Birdie Ann, Jerry Fay; children, Paul, Karen, Marla, Jenifer, Kayla and Jamy; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
