Obituary for MONTOYA

Aurelio "Lelo" " Monty" Montoya, 96, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 22, 2010. Mr. Montoya was a native New Mexican, born and raised in Old Town, Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Della "Deluvina" Saiz Montoya; son, Fidel, who died in infancy, his father Fidel Montoya; his mother Sofronia Montoya, all of Old Town; brothers, Fidel Montoya and Cipriano "Pano" Montoya, and his sister, Flossie Cordova. He is survived by his daughter, Fran Phipps and husband Paul; his son, Robbie Montoya; grandchildren, Barry Phipps and Lisa Vencill and husband William; sisters, Rose Zamora and Mela Duran and husband Cleto, and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Montoya was a beloved member of the community and will be dearly missed by all. The family would like to thank Kaseman Hospice for the wonderful care their father received. Cremation has taken place. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00p.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at French ~ Lomas chapel. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 Plaza NW, Old Town on Thursday October 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. A private family interment will take place.
