BOYER -- Robert E. (Bob) Boyer, Jr., 50, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 28, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa King Boyer; his daughter, Christetta Boyer; his parents, Robert E. and Audrey Boyer, Sr.; his sisters, Sandy Boyer, and Cheryl Lujan and husband Terry and their sons TJ and Dusty of Los Alamos, NM; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and devoted friends. Bob was a graduate of Los Alamos High School Class of 1978, as well as Denver Automotive and Diesel College, where he graduated on the Dean's List. He was General Manager of B&D Industries, Inc., where he was employed for 24 years. Bob was an avid sportsman and loved hunting, fishing, playing softball and playing fetch with his wonder dog, Newley. He had an extraordinary amount of perseverance and strength to overcome his physical challenges - to the amazement of his family and friends. He also loved a challenge and enjoyed playing the guitar and solving any automotive problems he could get his hands on. Most importantly, he enjoyed his walk with the Lord. His family and friends are rejoicing that he is home with the Lord and playing softball again. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Presbyterian Medical Specialty Unit Team for their compassionate care and concern. A celebration of Bob's life will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Stephen's Methodist Church, 4601 Juan Tabo NE. BRAZIL -- Thomas Allen Brazil Sr., 66, passed away on September 24, 2010. Born in El Paso, Texas February 15, 1944 to LueGena Franklin and George Albert Brazil Sr. He is survived by his wife Vinetta Brazil; sons, Michael Schraeder,wife Roseann, Thomas Brazil Jr., wife Robin; daughter AnnMarie Brazil, fiance Marc Harp; grandchildren, Joshua Schraeder, Justine Schraeder, Dustin Schraeder, Christian Schraeder, Tyler Brazil, Cason Brazil; brother, George Albert Brazil Jr., wife Barbara; sister Marlene Mungle, husband Tom; Niece Errynn Brazil, fianc Gilbert Sanchez and many other nieces and nephews. BURSON -- Leroy Monroe Burson, age 77, a resident of Valencia County in N.M., passed away peacefully at his home, on Sunday, September 26, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Grenville, N.M. and raised in the mountains south of Grants, N.M. The family moved to the Belen, N.M. area in 1945. Leroy loved outdoor activities and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed carpentry. Leroy was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Belen and was an active participant in the church remodeling. He was very devoted to his family and their well-being. Leroy retired from the Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor after 43 years of outstanding and faithful service. He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Monroe Burson; mother, Eva Margaret Burson; and his sisters, Louise Robinson and Lorene McKinley. Leroy is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Burson; daughter, Janice Johnson; brother, Floyd Burson; sister, Mary Ebel; four grandchildren, April Johnson, Matthew Heth, Emily Heth and Heather Johnson; and five great-grandchildren. BUSTOS -- Celine Cordova Bustos, 84, passed away Friday, September 24, 2010 peacefully at her retirement home with her faithful and devoted husband Eddie at her side. She had been in failing health. Celine and Ed had been married 65 years and had traveled extensively throughout their married life. Celine was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed being with family. She was preceded in death by her loving son Stanley, and is survived by her beloved husband Eddie; daughter Sarah; four grandsons, Eddie, Toney, David, and Adam; sister Helen Lopez from Abiqui; extended family, the Randalls, includes Mike and Tammy, Hayden, Lauren, Molly and Everett; numerous relatives and friends. BYRD -- Virgil W. "Pooch" Byrd, age 90, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Virgil is survived by his wife of 69 years, Elsie; and sons, John, Tom, and David. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Wade, Shawna, Wes, Jared, Kasey, and Ty; and three great-grandchildren. Virgil moved from Texas to New Mexico at the age of seven and lived in many towns across New Mexico working for Mountain Bell Telephone Company, but Silver City remained his favorite. He retired from Mountain Bell as a district supervisor in 1979 after 39 years of service. Racing horses, hunting, and fishing were his passions. CLARK -- Ronald Brock Clark, 69, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1944, passed away into the loving arms of the Lord Sunday, September 26, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Clark, brother, Milton Jr. Clark and brother, Douglas Clark. He is survived by his brother, Ed Clark. He was a contractor and builder of homes and apartments. He became a successful real estate investor and land developer. He was highly respected and loved by the business community. He lived a life full of excitement and adventure. He was a hot air and helium balloonist. In 1981 he was one of the four man crew to accomplish the 1st Transpacific balloon crossing in the Double Eagle V. He was instrumental in the opening of the Anderson/Abruzzo balloon museum. He loved to travel, laugh, and eat good food, ski and ride rollercoasters with his children and grandchildren. Most important, he was married to the love of his life, Shirley M. Clark for over 51 years; He was an amazing father to son, Ronald M. Clark and wife, Sherry; son, Scott B. Clark and wife, Pamela; and daughter, Christie L. Humphrey and husband, Ron; The pride and joy of his life were his eight grandchildren: Amanda, Jillian, Shane, Cameron, Ryan, Alexis, Dylan and Brock. Ron Clark lived life to the fullest and he loved the Lord, his friends and his family with all his heart. He will be dearly missed. DELGADO -- Jesse J. Delgado, 58, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 27, 2010. Mr. Delgado is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Debbie; his daughter, Angelica Delgado and husband, Andrew Torres; his son, Luke Martinez; brothers, Hank Delgado and wife, Terri, and Ernie Delgado; his sister, Mary Tetta; and many other extended family members. DURAN -- Martha L. Duran, 79, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, was called home to our Lord and Savior on Monday, September 27, 2010, with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Duran was born on December 15, 1930 to Miguel and Cidelia (Estrada) Baca of Denver. The family moved to Albuquerque when she was a toddler. Mrs. Duran was a very dedicated member of Second Presbyterian Church and was a member of the choir, served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher, and most recently as an Elder. Mrs. Duran was married to John B. Duran for 38 years. She retired from Albuquerque Public Schools in 1992. During her retirement, she worked as a caregiver in people's homes. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Duran was very outgoing and very giving of her time and talents. She was very creative with her sewing and quilting abilities. She could design new sewing creations and repair and altar clothing, as well. Mrs. Duran was an excellent cook. She was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Duran; parents, Miguel and Cidelia Baca; son, Jerome Duran; and brother, Roberto "Bobby" Baca. She is survived by her sons, David Duran of Santa Fe, NM, Mark A. Duran and his wife, Sese, of Oahu, HI, and James T. Duran and his wife, Denise, of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Joseph, Dominic, Paul, Aaron, Michael, Valerie, Nicholas, and Joshua Duran; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa; brother, Noel M. Baca and his wife, Teeter; daughter-in-law, Tina Gallegos; as well as many lifelong friends. GALLEGOS -- John G. Gallegos, 64, native of Albuquerque, was born September 2, 1946, passed away on September 24, 2010. John graduated from Valley High School in 1964, attended the University of New Mexico. He had been in the travel industry for over 20 years when he was forced into disability retirement due to health reasons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose I. Gallegos and Sostenita M. Gallegos. He is survived by daughter Brandy Gallegos; grandchildren, Ray, Rachel and Brandon; Joe O. Gallegos, III Roybal; and Esther L. Roybal; brother and sister-in -law; nieces, Tanya Lechel, Sandy Roybal; and nephew Steve Roybal; Robert (Haps) Barreras, a very close and true friend Johnnie Gallegos; uncle; aunts, Rosella Crooker, Louisa Rivas and Eloisa Mummey; along with many cousins. John touched the lives of many people, who liked his easy going manner and attitude. He was the go to guy when you had a problem or needed help in any way. He always helped without hesitation. He enjoyed fishing, camping and golf. He was a volunteer for many local professional golf tournaments as well as a permanent volunteer for the New Mexico Bowl. He seldom missed a Lobo football or basketball game. In spite of his own disability , he was always on hand to help his brother, who had severe medical issues over the past three years. He sparkled with joy when talking about his grandchildren. He loved his family very much and will be greatly missed. GRIEGO -- Jose Hermino Griego, 91, passed away Saturday morning, September 25, 2010 at his home. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Rosenda Griego. HEMLER -- John Vaughn Hemler, Jr. was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on July 6, 1929, and died on Saturday, September 25, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Marjorie June on March 16, 2007. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Ann and Richard Mason of Phoenix, AZ; his son John Russell Hemler of Glendale, AZ; his brother Charles R. Hemler of Mesquite, TX; four grandsons, Matthew, David, Daniel and Michael Mason; one granddaughter Karissa Hemler; and two great-grandchildren Richard and Lucy Mason. At age three, he and his family moved from Carlsbad to northern New Mexico, where he grew up in various national forests where his father was employed. At age 12, his family returned to Carlsbad, where he graduated from Carlsbad High School in May 1947. During his high school years, he was active in student affairs, was elected to the National Honor Society during his junior year, and was student body treasurer during his senior year. He was also a member of the Order of Demolay, rising to the positions of Chapter Master Councilor and was elected State Senior Councilor during his senior year. John received an appointment to the United States Military Academy from New Mexico Congresswoman Georgia Lusk, and entered the Academy at West Point on July 1, 1947. In June 1951, he was graduated as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Defense Artillery and was married to Marjorie June Ericksen at West Point. For the next 28 years, John served in various positions and locations in the United States, Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. In 1958, the U.S. Army sent him to graduate school at the University of Arizona, where he graduated in 1960 with a Master's Degree in Nuclear Engineering/ Nuclear Physics. For much of the rest of his career, he was engaged in nuclear activities, ranging from atmospheric nuclear device testing in Nevada (1962), planning and conducting underground nuclear tests (1965-1968), commanding a nuclear-capable artillery battalion in Germany (1968-1970), chairing a US Interdepartmental Delegation to a NATO group studying the effects of new technology on nuclear warfare, to his final assignment with the Defense Nuclear Agency, Kirtland AFB, where he was involved in the planning for, and implementation of, the cleanup of nuclear contamination caused by 1950s nuclear testing at Eniwetok Atoll, Marshall Islands, Western Pacific (1976-1979). In Vietnam, he commanded a multi-national (Australia; New Zealand, Korea, U.S.) Special Forces Group which trained Vietnamese and Cambodian military units in all combat regions of South Vietnam. In January, 1979, John retired from active duty, in the rank of Colonel, at Kirtland AFB. His military decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (three OLC), Bronze Star (one OLC), Army Meritorious Service (one OLC), Vietnamese Distinguished Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, and Parachute Badge (U.S., Vietnamese and Cambodian). Following his Army retirement, John worked for the BDM Corporation, in Albuquerque, initially as a Director, and then as Assistant Vice President, Strategic Systems, until his retirement in February 1985, to become involved in New Mexico Politics. In March 1985, he was elected Chairman of the Bernalillo County Republican Party, and served in that position until March 1987. He remained active in New Mexico Politics, assisting in recruiting good candidates for office; assisting in candidate campaigns, and working as presiding judge at a number of primary and general election voting locations. John was also very active in community affairs, as a Director on the Taylor Ranch Neighborhood Association Board, as a member of the Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Board, and in working with several City Administrations in eliminating graffiti in Taylor Ranch. John was Vice President of the Albuquerque Chapter of the West Point Society (1985-2005), High School/ UNM ROTC Awards Chairman of the Retired Officers Association (1994-2006) and the Association of the U.S. Army (2003-2006), and a member of the Sigma Pi Sigma National Physics Society. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m., at Heritage Funeral Chapel, 6830 W. Thunderbird Rd. Peoria, AZ. JONES -- Betty J. Jones, 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, died peacefully at home on Monday, September 27, 2010 after a short illness. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Fenner D. Jones; their three daughters, Christy Everett, Kathy Caffrey, Connie Jones and their families. KITCHENS -- Ira Kitchens, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1958, died Sunday, September 26, 2010. He is survived by his two daughters, Charlotte Ann Santilli and husband, Joseph of Las Vegas, Nevada and Debra Dianne Spencer and husband, Clarence of Lubbock, Texas; three grandchildren, Diane Christine Cox, Bridget Mequela Spencer, and Ryan Christopher Spencer; brother, William F. Kitchens and wife, Fay of Monroe, Louisiana; and numerous other relatives and friends. Ira was preceded in death by his wife, Janie "Jeri" Jerolene Kitchens in March 2004; his parents, William Floyd and Mary Richardson Kitchens; and sisters, Katie Livingston, Lillie Mae Crenshaw, and Florence Arrant; and brothers, Artis Kitchens, Stephen Henry Kitchens, B. F. Kitchens, and Floyd Kitchens. Ira was born September 30, 1927 in Newton, Mississippi and graduated from Bonita High School, in Bonita, Louisiana. After graduation, he proudly served in the Merchant Marines during WWII. After discharge, Ira and Jeri Spurlock were married on December 7, 1946 and began 57 years of marriage. They moved to Great Falls, Montana where Ira worked for Thisted Motor Company. Upon moving to Albuquerque with his family, Ira owned and operated Kitchens Motor, located across from the University of New Mexico. He later went to work for C-T Engineering and received numerous sales awards. Ira became an ordained Deacon at Bel-Air Baptist Church and taught Sunday School throughout his life time. He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. O'MALLEY -- Debra Kay O'Malley 54, a devoted mother, daughter, sister and grandmother passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 27th, 2010 at her home in Albuquerque, NM. She was born at Walker AFB in Roswell, NM on December 15, 1955. She spent much of her childhood traveling the world with her parents who were in the US Air Force. She graduated from Roswell High School and ENMU. Upon her passing she was employed as a case worker for the Barrett Foundation in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Charlotte Livingston; brothers, David and Rob Livingston; son Michael O'Malley; daughters, Holly and Kelly O'Malley; and her precious grandson Riley J. English; She is also survived by her devoted sons and daughter in-law, Bobby English, CJ Cuff and Scott Redmon; and her former husband Mike O'Malley and his partner Lynda Latta; plus many others who made up her loving, blended family. Preceding her passing were grandparents, Paul and Elma Livingston, Garland and Mabel Duncan; mother and father in-law, John and Betty O'Malley and the love of her life, John T. Rakowski. A Memorial will be held at her home in Albuquerque, NM starting at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday October 9, 2010. PADILLA -- STEVE PADILLA Resident of Northern New Mexico passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010, in Santa Fe at the age of 67. Steve lived in Chama but loved all New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jemelle S. (Jamie) Padilla; and his father, Frank (Pancho) Padilla; his best buddy. He is survived by his mother, Helen R. Padilla; his sisters: Frances Marquez, Dolores, Marshall, Marianne and Roger Tapia and Linda Fay; numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Elaine McKim; brother-in-law, Michael Medina and his wife Naomi and their daughter, Paris. Steve loved hunting and fishing all his life and shared this love with his young nephews Steve served on the NM Game and Fish Commission appointed by both democrat and republican governors. He also spent countless hours lobbying in the New Mexico Legislature for his special causes. Steve was a very caring person. A Celebration of Life will be conducted Friday, October 1, 2010, 2:00 p.m., at the Garrett's Desert Inn Banquet Room, 311 Old Santa Fe Trail, Santa Fe, NM 87501. RAEL -- Hilario "Larry" Rael, 50, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 26, 2010. Mr. Rael is survived by his mother Libra Rael; sons, Larry Rael, Joe Rael; and daughter Barbara Sarmino and husband Angel, and five grandchildren; and two of his sisters Sonia Martinez and husband Leon, and Christina Whitfield; and brother Rene Rael; and sisters-in-law Tina Apodaca, Isabel and Rudy Apodaca and many nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Rael was preceded in death by his Father Augustine Garcia and brother Rudy Apodaca. Mass will be held on September 29, 2010 at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Clara Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Leon Martinez and Tony Gabaldon. RYAN -- John "Jack" P. Ryan, 83, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2010. Jack was born in New York City, New York on March 20, 1927. The family moved to Ponca City, OK and later relocated to Albuquerque in 1946. Jack attended Regis High School, the University of Oklahoma, and graduated from the University of New Mexico. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and remained active in the Alumni group until his death. He retired from McClintock Paper Company in 1992 after a 40 year career in sales. He enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and rooting for his beloved Yankees. He is survived by his wife, Connie; son, Greg and his wife, Andrea; son, David, all of Albuquerque; and daughter, Sharon Ryan, of West Chester, PA; sister-in-law, Ellen Ann Ryan; and three nieces and one nephew. He is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas P. Ryan. Cremation has taken place. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave SE. The Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont NE. SABATH -- Earl Gabriel Sabath, 58, a resident of Albuquerque since infancy, died Friday, September 24, 2010. He is survived by his sister, Sonia and brother, Joseph, both of Albuquerque; admirer, Carolyn Sabath of Albuquerque; dear cousins, Gloria Sabath of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Stephanie Sabath Schultz and husband, Jake and family of Eureka, CA, and Bernadette Sabath of Hilo, Hawaii. Earl was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Ernest and Rose, his adoring grandmothers, Miriam Salem and Shafiah Sabath, and loving aunts and uncles including Nell, Josephine, Kay and Mary. Earl is also survived by many friends in the Zia Deaf-Blind Club, the American Association of Deaf-Blind, the ARC (his favorite organizations) interpreters, therapists, other professionals and people who saw his goodness and recognized and nurtured his potential. His very favorites were Amy, Fran, Ardith, Lori, Janis, Jan P. and Jan K. Earl lived with his sister Sonia and tried to teach her patience, how to get the most joy and satisfaction out of every day, and acceptance. His memory was phenomenal- especially with numbers, dates, and times. Earl loved people, traveling (especially cruises), good food, pool therapy, PBS, Rachel Ray, Julia Child, and This Old House. He was sweet, gentle, trusting, generous, persistent, eager for new experiences, always wanting a job, to help in some way. He loved filing (unique system) the mail, receipts and most other papers coming into the house. He took pride in finding the utility bills in time for us to pay and the grocery sale ads or any thing else we needed from his "file". His spirit was and is noble and indomitable. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of his long-standing interests: ZIA, ARC, AADB, PBS, Habitat for Humanity, or Roadrunner Food Bank. SENA -- Natalie A. Sena, 94, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, September 27, 2010. Natalie was born in Watrous, NM January 20, 1916. Natalie was great with people, making many friends over the years. She enjoyed playing bingo and loved music and creating beautiful things with her arts and crafts, but above all Natalie was a devoted homemaker. Natalie is survived by her loving children, Maxine Reynosa and husband Frank of California, Cecilio Sena and wife Petra of Albuquerque, Herman Sena of California and Catarino Sena Jr. of California; brother Joe B. Archuleta; and sister Maryanne Gallegos and husband Eusebio; and many grandchildren; great- grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews. Natalie was preceded in death by her parents, Pantaleon and Arminda Archuleta; and her son Siturnino Sena. Natalie will be missed by all who knew and loved her. URVANEJO -- Jason Adam Urvanejo Sr., 40, loving father, grandfather and friend, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 18, 2010. Jason Sr. was born August 15, 1970 in Albuquerque, NM. Jason appreciated life, he enjoyed clowning around, spending time with his family and loved his dog Chuks. Jason was a man of talent; he was a tattoo artist, enjoyed drawing and loved music. Jason will be greatly missed by numerous friends, relatives and all who knew and loved him. WATSON -- Patricia "Pat" W. Watson, a longtime resident of Artesia, NM and more recently Rio Rancho, NM, died September 26, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Wheatland, Wyoming on October 19, 1933 and grew up in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She attended the University of New Mexico, where she met Fred A. Watson. They eloped on November 1, 1953 after knowing each other for three weeks. She lived in Artesia with Fred, beginning a career as an internal auditor for the First National Bank of Artesia when her children were in high school. After earning her real estate broker's license, she started and built a successful residential real estate company, Watson & Associates. She retired to care for her husband through his own battle with cancer, and moved to Rio Rancho in 2005. Pat was an enthusiastic volunteer for The Friends of the Library of Rio Rancho, Inc. and a docent for The Albuquerque Museum. She was a very intelligent, energetic, optimistic and determined woman who inspired everyone around her. She understood business, had a great sense of humor and loved to get everyone organized and going. Pat will be dearly missed by her friends and family. She is survived by her son, Fred A. Watson and her daughter, Patti Watson Leake and husband, Patrick Leake, of Albuquerque; her sister-in-law Martha Watson Linnell and husband, Bob Linnell; nephew, Neal Linnell and wife, Jennifer and daughter, Abbey, all of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and her beloved dog, Bertie. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at St. Francis Episcopal Church, 2903 Cabezon Road, Rio Rancho, NM.
