ALIRES -- Ted "Dice" Alires, 92, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2009. Ted was born in Albuquerque, NM to Theodore F. and Adelina (Quintana) Alires Sr. on October 7, 1916. He was a projectionist for Commonwealth Theaters and a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. Ted was a past President of the Spanish-American Branch with The Church of Latter Day Saints. He was a musician for Don Lessman and a printer. Ted loved being the family comedian and loved his family and his church. He is survived by his loving wife Josephine Mary Alires; daughter, Barbara A Morales; and grandchildren, Terry L. Morales, Michael S. Morales. Visitation will be between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1100 Montano Rd, NW on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. ARCHULETA -- Manuel, 75, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2009. He was born in 1934 in Torreon, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque for 66 years. Manuel is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary; daughters, Maxine and husband Paul Chavez, Margaret and husband Vince Krawic, Monica Archuleta and Joe Roberts; sons, Matthew and wife Wanda, Mark Archuleta and Cara Williford; grandchildren, Joseph, Emily, James, Veronica, Phillip, Nicole, Devin, Taylor, Sierra and Curtis; sisters, Eufelia Aragon and Theresa Montoya; brother, Arthur Archuleta and wife Virginia and special godchild Melina. Manuel had a smile that could light up a room. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was a friend to all. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church for 49 years and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kennedy Council. He retired from Sandia labs in 1994 and then ran several successful businesses. After his retirement he was very active in charitable organizations and in his community. He was an avid Lobo and Norte Dame football fan. The rosary will be recited Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE. BAROS -- Juan Gabriel Baros, 70, Known to most as "Johnny" Born March 11, 1938 in Tucumcari, NM went on to bigger and better things on August 8, 2009. He learned many trades as a young man and settled into a career as an auto body and paint man. In retirement he spent his spare time fixning whatever needed to be fixed, helping out anybody he could, watching his old westerns, listening to Spanish music and taking care of his grand dogs. He is survived by son Sean; daughter Lisa; sisters Mary, Corrine and husband Joe; nieces Theresa, Donna and husband Michael; long time friend and neighbor Mary; and two grand dogs, Zorra and Daisy Duke. A memorial service will be held on Friday September 11, 2009 at Risen Savior Catholic Community 7701 Wyoming at 11:00. He shall be greatly missed.

BRIGNON -- Margaret Reyther Brignon, 91, was born March 27, 1918 and passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2009, the daughter of the late, Suzanne and John Reyther of Ennis, Texas. She was also the wife of the late Robert Hugh Brignon of Ferris, Texas and Dallas, Texas. She was always involved in so many activities, a board member of many garden clubs, both in Dallas, TX as well as Albuquerque, NM. Margaret was an avid bridge player, aspiring artist, a music lover, as well as a beautiful homemaker. Margaret is survived by her son, Robert Fredrick Brignon, of Dallas, TX; and her daughter, Michelle Brignon Tinsley, of New Orleans, Louisiana. The family thanks Mary Helen Kelly for her sincere concern, attention, and kindness during Margaret's stay in Princeton Place Nursing Center, and the staff of Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care of her. CHAMIER -- Scott L. Chamier, 79, passed away on September 3, 2009. Scott was born October 19, 1929 in Patchogue NY. He joined the Air Force in 1951. He was honorably discharged as a Major. Scott married Joan (Cinquemani). They recently celebrated 51 years of marriage. Scott was a Captain with American Airlines. 14 years ago Scott and Joan retired to Placitas, New Mexico. Scott was active in the local Pilots Club, American Airlines Grey Eagles, and the Commemorative Air Force. Scott is survived by his wife Joan; sons Colin, NY, Craig, OH; daughters Aimee Gremmo, NY, Courtenay (Laszlo Sandor), CA; ten grandchildren; and sister Claire Gutman, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Edward. ESQUIVEL -- LeAnne Esquivel, beloved daughter and sister passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009. LeAnne is survived by her father, Mike Esquivel; mother, Rebecca Pirkey and husband, Gary; brother, Milo Esquivel; grandmother, Dorothy Esquivel; paternal aunts and uncles, Chris Ayala, Richard and Kathy Esquivel, Larry Chavez and Bev Esquivel-Chavez; maternal aunts and uncles, Patricia Maestas, Cindy Harris, Priscilla Caruthers, Ray and Jennie Montano, and Rick and Pat Montano; and special friends, Sarah Koster and Sean Ondes. LeAnne nurtured a lifelong love of reading, and was an excellent student, having graduated from UNM with a BS in Sociology, and graduated from the CNM School of Nursing with an RN. She was an avid traveler, who loved and supported her family dearly. LeAnne enjoyed a particularly close and enduring relationship with her brother Milo. She was cherished by her family and her memory will remain strong in the hearts of those who loved her. FRENTZEL -- Mildred Junietta Frentzel, 87, a New Mexico resident since 1956, died Thursday September 3, 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Annette Jordan and husband John of Los Ranchos; her son, Martin and wife Sandra of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Andrew Jordan of Virginia; Melissa Guck and husband Clay of Albuquerque; Joseph Fuller and Dylan Frentzel of Albuquerque; great grandchildren Brandan Doubrava of Rio Rancho; Cassidy, Adam and Jonathan Jordan of Virginia; Aiden Frentzel, Taylor Fuller and Dorothy Guck of Albuquerque; niece Pam Gregory of Oklahoma; and nephew T.J. Mikkelson of Nebraska. Mrs. Frentzel was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Lambert Frentzel; her mother and father, Helen and William Alley; and her sister, Jackie Mikkelson. Mrs. Frentzel, a good and faithful servant of the Lord, was baptized by the Rev. E.M. Frentzel April 9, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah, Iowa. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and did volunteer work for the March of Dimes. Born in Page County, Iowa, Mrs. Frentzel lived by the philosophy the "everybody likes to eat." She spent 31 years serving enchiladas and hamburgers to employees of Los Alamos National Laboratory. She enjoyed dining at Rancho de Chimayo, El Paragua, La Tertulia, Bishop's Lodge, Katherine's, and Furr's Cafeteria. Her life will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Sept. 10 at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, with Pastors George Swanson and Randy Walquist presiding. MARTINEZ -- Lawrence Martinez, born December 11, 1921 in Algodones, NM, passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, in Albuquerque at the age of 87 . He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; and daughters, Rosie Lucero and Margaret Martinez. Lawrence is survived by his children, Herman Martinez, Larri Baca, and Lawrence Martinez Jr.; ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carmen Archibeque; as well as other family and friends who loved him and will miss him. Lawrence was a member of St. Theresa little flower Catholic Church, and was an advisory council member of the Northfourth Senior Center. He was a great father and grandfather and also loved to fish and camp. MCMAHAN -- Adrian O "Mac" McMahan, 91, died peacefully at home September 4, 2009 in Albuquerque. He is survived by his son Bill Murray and wife Marilyn of Belen, NM; grandchildren Ted Murray and wife Cindy of Ft Wayne, IN, Billie Gibson and husband Mike of Ft. Wayne, IN and Connie Murray of Marana, AZ; seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his good friends Jack and Joni, Lois and his caregiver Marty. Adrian was preceded in death by his wife Bernice, parents John and Lottie, brothers, Richard, Oberlin, Virgil and Robert, sisters Patricia and Priscilla. Mr. McMahan served in the US Army during WW II. He and his wife moved to Albuquerque in 1953 from Fort Wayne where he had worked for Eckrich Meat Company. SANCHEZ -- Della Pauline Sanchez, 91, native of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including, Mary Gallemore, Mary Ann Sanchez, Marcella Hoehne, Viola Ulibarri, Raymond Sanchez, Gilbert Sanchez and Martin Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her parents, Olegario and Adela C. Sanchez. Della was born July 6, 1918 in Old Town. She loved her parents and family, and they were the most important part of her life. She was the last of the Alvarado Hotel's Harvey Girls and was so proud to have been able to be one of them. Della's time at church, Our Lady of Fatima, and her time with friends in the Women's Guild were her most treasured moments. Gallagher Hall was where everybody knew her name. SANDLIN -- Dr. Doral Randolph Sandlin, known as "Sandy" to family and friends, died at home on September 3, 2009, at the age of 79, with his wife of 50 years, Terri Sandlin, at his side. Sandy was born April 7, 1930, in Pecan Gap, Texas, the sixth of J.R. and Ethel Sandlin's seven children. J.R. passed away when Sandy was just three years old, leaving Ethel to raise seven children single-handedly in the heart of the Great Depression. Later, the family moved to west Texas to be closer to Ethel's family. Sandy graduated from Lubbock High School in 1948, and spent two years at Texas Tech before graduating from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1954. While in Annapolis, he helped the Navy men's basketball team reach the NCAA Sweet 16. He met his future wife Terri Sawyer while stationed at Castle Air Force Base; the two married in 1959. Sandy received his master's in aeronautical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology while stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio, and his Ph.D. from the University of Arizona in 1967. Between March 1967 and February 1968, he served as a flight test officer for a fighter wing in Vietnam. In 1969, he accepted a position as a professor of aeronautical engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Sandy retired in September 1992, after a 23-year career that included time as the Aeronautical Engineering Department's chair. He and Terri moved to Albuquerque in July 1993; they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on June 27. Sandy is survived by his wife, Terri; his children, son Justin Sandlin and wife Kirsten of Castle Rock, Colo., daughter Jennifer Smith and husband Greg of Albuquerque, N.M., and son Doral E. "Ned" Sandlin and wife Shannon of Xenia, Ohio; and his seven grandchildren, Ross and Drew Sandlin, Chelsea and Laurel Smith, and Georgianne, Madeline, and Chase Sandlin. There will be a Memorial Service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque. SCHIRMER -- Catherine Patricia Schirmer, 52, a resident of Corrales, passed away at her home on Friday, August 28, 2009 surrounded by family and special friends. Catherine was born March 6, 1957 the daughter of Robert and Helen Henry Schirmer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was a member of the Sandoval County Sheriff's "Kasey Says" program. Catherine was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Horner; and her father, Robert Schirmer; and by her special friend and co-worker, Sgt. Joe Harris. She is survived by her mother, Helen H. Schirmer of Albuquerque; brother, David Schirmer and wife Lana of Las Cruces, NM; sister, Lorena Marie Alexander of Rio Rancho; numerous nieces and nephews. STEED -- Nevin Marrs (Buddy) Steed, age 80, resident of Albuquerque since 1984 and a long time resident in Goodpine/Jena, LA, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. He was born on March 7, 1929 in Winnsboro, TX. He graduated from Goodpine Trout High School and Louisiana State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Nevin served his country in the United States Navy and retired from the FDIC as an Auditor/Bank Examiner. He was a long-time member of St. Chad's Episcopal Church and attended St. Stephens Methodist Church for the last several years of his life. Nevin is survived by his children David Steed, Sarah Braaten, and Mona Gonzalez; and grandchildren, Joshua Steed and Hailey Braaten. WRIGHT -- Steven J. Wright, 48, died September 6, 2009. He is survived by his parents Bill and Mahala of Albuquerque; his brothers James Wright and wife Cathy of Arlington, TX and David Wright and wife Mindi of Aurora, CO; four nephews; and one niece; and many other family and friends. Steven was born in Carlsbad and graduated from Roswell Goddard High School in 1979. He attended Texas Tech and owned and operated his own construction company. Steven loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting with family and friends on many occasions. He had a passion for cooking and gardening. A graveside service will be Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., September 9, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
