ARMIJO -- Ursulita B. Armijo, beloved mother and grandmother, went home on Sunday, August 9, 2009 in Golden, NM at the age of 96. Mrs. Armijo was very active at the Barelas Senior Center. She participated in many activities and volunteered there for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolfo Armijo. Mrs. Armijo is survived by her children, Eva Castillo, Bernie Armijo and wife, Debbie, Bea Galaviz and husband, David, and Robert Armijo; brother, Frank Baca and wife, Sally; sister, Lucy Montano and husband, Phillip; grandchildren, Linda Casas, Selina Abbau, Michael Galaviz, Liz Tapia, Yolanda Galaviz, Bobby Armijo, Anita S de Armijo, Leo Armijo and Anthony Armijo; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. BUSS -- Julius L.(Rick) Buss was born on November 23, 1917, in the Bronx, NY. He passed away on July 12, 2009. Julius worked as a purser on a cruise ship prior to serving in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He subsequently worked as an accountant for the Navajo Nation in Window Rock, AZ. He and his family moved to Albuquerque in 1949. Julius was employed by Sandia National Labs, Duke City Lumber and N.C. Ribble Company. He also had his own accounting practice. He served as an elder of the Albuquerque Bible Students, was a director of the Pastoral Bible Institute and the Bible Students Retirement Center. He traveled with his beloved wife while ministering to Bible Students in Europe, India, Africa, Australia, South America and throughout the U.S. He was preceded in death by Roberta, his wife of 59 years. He is survived by his sister, Helen Minke, of Sarasota, FL; daughter, Sandra Thomassen and husband Tim; granddaughter, Tamara Wesol and husband Daniel; "daughter," Patricia Tucker; "granddaughter," Ashley Tucker, all of Albuquerque. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at the Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Avenue SE (842-8800). A reception will follow at the family home.

CALDWELL -- John, 57, a long time resident of the South Valley passed away suddenly in San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by one son Christopher; three brothers Ronald and wife Mary Ann, Richard and wife Kathi and Robert; as well as one sister Bernadette McRoberts. He has several nieces and nephews and will be missed by all who knew him. DARBY -- Thomas B. Darby, age 79, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009. He was born August 11, 1929 in Pampa, TX. Thomas is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nelda Darby, of Albuquerque; his son, Tom Darby and wife, Vivian, of Seattle, WA; daughter, Kim Garrett and husband, Mark, of Albuquerque; son, Pat Darby and wife, Jolie, of Phoenix, AZ; son, Scott Darby and wife, Donice, of Stephenville, TX; grandchildren, Matthew, Tyler, Katy, Calvin and Bryn; brother, John Darby and wife, Marcia, of Amarillo, TX; and three nieces, Mary, Ashley and Donna. DIEHM -- Pearl June, age 83, of Albuquerque went to the Lord Sunday, August 9, 2009. She was born to the late Elvine and Thelma Gay Longstaff Brodhecker on June 27, 1926 at Topeka, Kansas. Pearl, a graduate of Topeka High School, also attended Washburn University and University of Kansas. She was an avid Lobos fan and was a member of Monte Vista Christian Church and on the board of directors of the Albuquerque/New Mexico Sports Hall of Fame. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, L.F. "Tow" Diehm; brothers, Floyd and Lloyd Brodhecker. Survivors include her son, Gary E. Diehm and wife, Jana of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter, Teresa J. Austin and husband, Mike of Albuquerque, NM;; sister-in-law, JoAnn Brodhecker of Homedale, Idaho and Jackie Brodhecker of Lompoc, CA; grandchildren, Logan and Kyndal Diehm of Wichita Falls, TX; , Gwendolyn Wilhelm Fowlkes and husband, Sean of Las Vegas, NV, Samantha Wilhelm of El Paso, TX; great-granddaughter, Isabella Pearl June Fowlkes. FOX -- Grace H. Fox passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at her home in Albuquerque. Grace was born March 2, 1922 in Philadelphia, PA. She had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1957. Grace was the loving mother of nine children and is survived by all of them and their families. Daughters: Barbara McCormick and husband, Jack, of Albuquerque, Linda Snider and husband, Roger, of St. Louis, MO, Colleen Sandy of Los Alamos, Margaret Fox of Los Alamos, and Melody Fox of Albuquerque. Sons: James Fox of Albuquerque, Tim Fox of Vancouver, WA, Leslie Fox and wife, Fay, of Edgewood, NM, and Dan Fox of Albuquerque. Grandchildren: Scott McCormick, Melissa (McCormick) Bilyeu, Leslie (Snider) Hogg, Wayne Snider, Christopher and Michael Sandy, Jamie and Josh Fox, Josh Pearson, Dan Jr. and Jennifer Fox. GRANT -- Ursula "Lita" Grant passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and friends on Saturday, August 8, 2009. She was born September 6, 1926 in Raton, New Mexico to Thomas and Maria Dominguez. Lita retired in 1986 from Mountain Bell after 26 years of service and was a member of The Telephone Pioneers. She was a parishioner at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Lita was also a lifetime member of D.A.V., American Legion and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliaries. She loved to crochet, shop and loved her Siamese Cats. Lita was a loving Mom and Grandmother and is survived by daughters, Carol Grant, Maxine and husband, Pete "Ernie" Gutierrez, and Colleen and husband, Tim Aragon; one son, Tommy Grant; four grandchildren, Renee, Victor, Valerie, and Martin Gutierrez; five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Jonathan, Brandon, Erika, and Nathaniel; brothers, Sammy and wife, Lydia, and George Dominguez; sisters, Josie, Minnie, Margaret, and Lorenza; and many extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor Grant; brother, Thomas; and three brothers-in-law, John, Alfonso, and Rudy. HAURY -- Kathryn McGarity Haury of Conway, formerly of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away August 8, 2009 at the age of 91. She was born to James (Jim) and Alma Cupp McGarity July 2, 1918. She was a Baptist by faith. Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Fred W. Haury, Jr., her parents, and three sister, Norine Colclasure, Louise Wilson and Emma Jean Johnson. Kathryn had a good life. She was involved in and also taught Round dancing for 30 years in Alburquerque, New Mexico. She also taught Bridge. She was employed for several years as a telephone Operator. She enjoyed sewing and needle point work. Kathryn is survived by her sister Maxine Finch of Lonoke, sister-in-law, Anne Bell of Albuquerque and Teresa (Joe) Caple of North Little Rock and many nieces, nephews and friends. JUAREZ -- Delilah Abigail Juarez, an angel returned to Heaven, on Saturday, August 8, 2009 after a short battle with cancer. She was 20 years old. MARTIN -- Gordon Seeley. In Loving Memory Gordon Seeley Martin 10/13/1923---8/08/2009 Our father, Gordon, passed peacefully into the arms of his loving Father our Lord, on August 08, 2009. He joins his treasured mate Maggie (Lorraine) our mother, who preceded him in going home on February 19, 2006. They met at high school in Ferndale, MI, became sweethearts and married shortly after graduation. After several jobs and an attempt at heating furnace entrepreneurship, Dad joined the Air Force and worked on aircraft. He was discharged with honors in 1947, after completing his service to the country, and moved to Albuquerque, NM with Maggie which became they're lifelong home and place of great affection. Gordon is perhaps best known in Albuquerque for his very successful Martin's Bakery, a seven-outlet retail and wholesale bakery, first located in Hoffmantown. He was past president of the Optimist's Club, involved in a variety of civic functions and a founding member of Four Hills Country Club, where he remained very active in his passion for tennis. Gordon was also past president of the National Retail Bakers Association. In addition, subsequent to his baking career, he became a real estate broker and opened Sierra Realty, a Century 21 real estate agency, which he operated for about 10 years. He is survived by his three sons, Shaun, Chris and Jeff Martin, their families, and a brother and a sister and their families. "Pop" the patriarch shall be remembered for his devotion to his family and his joyous spirit in all circumstances. He was much loved and shall be sorely missed.

MARTINEZ -- Rafaelita Martinez, 84, a resident of Albuquerque, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 8, 2009. With her family by her side. Rafaelita is survived by her nine children; Bernabe Martinez and wife Rose, Irene Gonzalez, Lillian Gurule and husband Gilbert, Nancy Valverde and husband Frank, David Martinez, Betty Valdez, Michael Martinez, Theresa Hernandez and husband James, Kathy Archibeque and husband Anthony and special friend and comadre Jennie Apodaca. Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, Great-great-grandchildren and a very special granddaughter Amanda Archibeque who helped take care of Grandma. Rafaelita is preceded in death by her beloved son Joseph Martinez. She loved all her family very much. She also loved going to the Casino, "that would make her day". ROLLER -- Bill Roller died August 8 in Hugo,OK at age 87. He was a former Albuquerque resident, and Promotions Director for Winrock Center for many years. He was the first accredited shopping center promotions director in New Mexico and was well-known for his work in various capacities of the newspaper business. Bill served with the First Division of the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Twila, a son, Steve, and his sister Doris. He is survived by his wife, BobAnn, children Donna, Kay, Robin, and Dean, his two sisters-in-law, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

SAAVEDRA -- Louis Saavedra, 76, died August 7th in Albuquerque. He was the son of Nepumucena Gabaldon and Jose Ignacio Saavedra. Louis was a native of Socorro where he graduated from Socorro High School. He received two degrees from Eastern New Mexico University and went on to careers in education and politics in Albuquerque. SHROYER -- Margaret Darlene Shroyer, Born March 17, 1929, passed early Wednesday morning July 29, 2009. An Albuquerque resident from 1974-1985, living in Edgewood, NM from 1985 to the present. Margaret married John W. Shroyer on June 2, 1951 and has spent the past 58 years in love and making a beautiful family of three sons; two daughters and several grandchildren. Margaret loved to travel, crochet, and host dinners for holidays and birthdays. She always had the best advice for everything, willing to lend a helping hand. Her love and wise words will be missed by many. Margaret is preceded in death by daughter, Johnna; sons, Barry and Jeff; and grandson, David. STONE -- Ouida G. Stone walked through the gates of heaven on Thursday, August 6th, 2009. She will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her. Ouida Stone was born in Springfield, Missouri in 1931. She married Bill Stone in 1948. They were in the Nazarene ministry for 20 years. Ouida received her degree at San Juan College in Farmington, NM. She worked at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, NM as a Lab Technician for 22 years. She also enjoyed catering in her business "Fancy Foods". They retired to Albuquerque in 1993. She enjoyed traveling and visiting with family and friends. Ouida was a member of the Heights First Church of the Nazarene. She is survived by the love of her life William "Bill" Stone, married for 60 years, and by her children, grand-children, and great grand-children as follows: Children ~ Lyn Stone, Alan & Brenda Stone, and Charlie & Sue Stone. Grand-children ~ Charlyn Stone, Matt & Stephanie Smith, Billy & Jenny Stone, Joshua Stone & fianc Jenn Senn, and Chris & Leilani Stone. Great Grand-children ~ Caden Stone, Alexandria Smith, Logan Stone, and Gavin Stone, a new addition to follow. "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles: they will run and not grow weary: they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:29-31. ~ Mom, you will be missed for your love of family, love for your husband, and for your love of Christ, your savior. A private memorial was held at the family home on Sunday August 9, 2009. In lieu of flowers the family has asked donations be made to Heights First Church of the Nazarene Albuquerque, New Mexico.

THOMPSON -- Ralph E. Thompson, (80 years old) passed away on August 7, 2009. He is survived by his wife Rosemary K. Thompson; Son Jeffrey C. Thompson and his wife Kimberly and their son Ian of Albuquerque; son Dr. Joel D. Thompson of Tucson, Arizona; and daughter Jill Thompson of Amarillo, Texas. Born October 8, 1928, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Ralph spent his early years in Oklahoma and Dumas, Texas. Ralph entered the army in 1950 during the Korean War, serving in Korea in 1951-52 as a tank commander. He graduated from West Texas State College in 1955, working in Amarillo, Texas, after graduation. He and Rosemary started their own business in Albuquerque in 1978, retiring in 1993 and turning the company over to their son, Jeff. Preceded in death by his parents and two older brothers, Ralph lived a full and active life. For many of his retirement years he was active in the local tennis community. His hobbies were tennis, swimming, and golf. He loved his family, was grateful for his friends and appreciated and enjoyed a contented life. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his only grandson. He held strong Christian faith. His final desire for his family and friends was to convey his love for all and a fond farewell to those he knew. In accordance with his wish, his body has been donated to the UNM Medical Sciences Department. Memorial contributions may be made to Presbyterian Hospice who took such wonderful, loving care of Ralph. Any flowers may be sent to the home. No funeral service is planned.
