Obituary for GRANT

Ursula "Lita" Grant passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family and friends on Saturday, August 8, 2009. She was born September 6, 1926 in Raton, New Mexico to Thomas and Maria Dominguez. Lita retired in 1986 from Mountain Bell after 26 years of service and was a member of The Telephone Pioneers. She was a parishioner at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Lita was also a lifetime member of D.A.V., American Legion and V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliaries. She loved to crochet, shop and loved her Siamese Cats. Lita was a loving Mom and Grandmother and is survived by daughters, Carol Grant, Maxine and husband, Pete "Ernie" Gutierrez, and Colleen and husband, Tim Aragon; one son, Tommy Grant; four grandchildren, Renee, Victor, Valerie, and Martin Gutierrez; five great-grandchildren, Kayla, Jonathan, Brandon, Erika, and Nathaniel; brothers, Sammy and wife, Lydia, and George Dominguez; sisters, Josie, Minnie, Margaret, and Lorenza; and many extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor Grant; brother, Thomas; and three brothers-in-law, John, Alfonso, and Rudy. The family wishes to give a special thanks to the Heartland Hospice Staff and caretakers, Joyce, Jeanette and Emma. A rosary will be recited Wednesday, August 12, 2009, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, August 13, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers for Lita will be Victor and Martin Gutierrez, Earl LeBlanc, Cameron Clark, Mark Pfingston, and Michael Sanchez.
