ANDERSON -- Robert (Bob) Eskridge Anderson was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on July 14, 1922. At age 12, Bob delivered newspapers to earn money during the depression years. During high school he played on the basketball team and worked as a "swamper", delivering farm produce to town. Bob completed two years of college at Oklahoma University before being drafted into the army in 1942 at the age of 20. He served with his twin brother Bill in the South Pacific during WWII with the 32nd air squadron. After the war Bob worked for the Bureau of Reclamation. His work took him to Thermopolis, WY where he "fell in love at first sight" with LaVerne Witte. Bob and LaVerne were married in 1952. Bob transferred to the U. S. Indian Health Service in 1956 and later served as the hospital administrator in Shiprock, NM. A new position as Regional Contract Medical Care Officer led Bob and LaVerne to Albuquerque, NM in 1963, where they made their home for 46 years. His years of service were recognized when he received the U.S. Public Health Service "Administrator's Award For Excellence" prior to his retirement in 1978. Bob and LaVerne enjoyed traveling throughout the USA and Mexico. Bob enjoyed golf and bowling, but his greatest pleasure came from sharing conversations with friends and family. Bob's health deteriorated over several years as congestive heart disease took its toll. On May 12, 2009 Bob joined LaVerne in the arms of God. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ernest and Hilda Anderson; his twin brother Bill and sister-in-law Genevieve. He is survived by his children Kirk Anderson of Paducah, KY, Greg Anderson and his wife Cindy of Roswell, NM, Richard Anderson of Oklahoma City, OK, Marjo Garlach and her husband Steve, and Paul Anderson of Albuquerque, NM; along with his grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Travis, Katie, Bryan, and Peter. BEYELER -- John Beyeler, loving and beloved father and friend, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2009 after struggling with a disease that took all his strength but none of his spirit. John was born on December 27, 1925 in Geneva, New York into a large and boisterous farming family. John found the love of his life and soul mate, Frances Dickson, in Fruita, Colorado, where he moved after discharge from the Army. After graduating from the University Colorado, John moved to Albuquerque in the early fifties to join Sandia Labs. He spent his early career in the Pacific where he impressed his colleagues not only with his diligent and exacting work, but his impishness and love of adventure - saving time for scuba diving, running craps games, and weaving palm hats. Honored as "The Poet Laureate of Field Test," he captured his co-workers and their exploits in hilarious, gently skewering verse. John retired in 1984 to devote time to traveling with his beloved Frances and to care for her until her death in 1985. John spent his recent years in Belen tending his garden, completing the house he designed, and traveling with his family. His vitality and love of exploration amazed anyone who dared to keep up. John was an engineer, architect, woodworker, poet, and prankster. His irreverent wit and homemade wine lifted the spirits of his many friends. He will live on in the many people whose life he touched and enriched. John is survived by his sisters Rose, Ida, and Bertha, his brother Fred and sister-in-law Clara, his daughter-in-law, Lauren, and the pride and joy of his life, sons Richard and Walt. John requested that no services be held. The family asks his many friends to commemorate his life in their own way, and that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the New Mexico Boys Ranch.
