BLEICHER -- Norman Bleicher, 82, a resident of Albuquerque since 1995, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Myra Bleicher; son, David Bleicher and wife, Gail Rubin; son, Steven Bleicher and wife, Helaine Cohn; and brother, Philip Bleicher and wife, Juanita. CORTEZ -- William John "Bill" Cortez, age 72, of Rio Rancho, peacefully joined his beloved Jesus in Heaven, Good Friday, April 10, 2009. Billy was born and raised in Santa Fe, was a graduate of St. Michael's High School and attended Xavier University. Bill, a financial planner, was president of Cortez and Associates. He belonged to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6696, and Assembly 1905 where he held many offices while in the Order. Bill is survived by Maria, his wife of 10 years; son, Robert Cortez; daughter, Celia Cortez Gentner and husband Tom; step-daughters, Maureen Curtis and husband Tom, and Christine Ancalmo and husband Mauricio; grandchildren, Erin and Lauren. DECARO -- Louis A. DeCaro, 89, retired clergyman, died on Sunday, April 12, 2009 following several years of cardiac related problems. He was born in New Brighton, PA, the son of Frank and Mary (Fascia) DeCaro. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve (Jennie) Pogazelec, and Rita Del Turco; and two brothers, John and Samuel. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Clara J. (DeCapita) DeCaro; and two adult sons, Frank A. DeCaro, of Albuquerque, NM, and Louis A. DeCaro, Jr.; daughter-in-law, Michele (Sweeting) DeCaro; and one grandson, Louis Michael of New York, NY. Rev. DeCaro served in a number of denominational roles in the General Council of the Christian Church of North America until terminating his membership in 1997. From 1954-1981, he pastored four churches in the same denomination in Akron, OH, California, PA, Niagara Falls, NY, and Beaver Falls, PA. In retirement he devoted himself to independent ministry, especially his great love of research and writing. Throughout the years he authored a number of published biblical and reflective works as well as preparing the official history of his former denomination. After 25 years of residence in Lehigh Acres, FL, he and Clara relocated to be with their son in Albuquerque, NM in June of 2006. A visitation from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009, at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Lizardo married Celina Chavez on April 19, 1952 in San Miguel County, NM. He was employed at King Brothers Ranch for 25, years then retired from the City of Moriarty after 13 years. HEBENSTREIT -- William Benton (Bill) Hebenstreit, 94, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2009 after a short illness. Bill was born on June 26, 1914 in St. Louis, MO to William Henry and Mae (Murphy) Hebenstreit. Raised in Illinois, he attended the University of Chicago for three years until he was unable to continue due to The Depression. After working on Wall Street for Goldman Sachs for four years, he was able to return to school at the California Institute of Technology where he completed his degree in Applied Physics. While at Caltech he met his future wife, Margarita Wallace, on a blind date arranged by relatives. They were wed in December of 1942 and were married for nearly sixty years until Margarita's death in November of 2002. Bill had a long and varied career in engineering and business. During World War II he worked at Bell Telephone Laboratories in New York City, moving to Hughes Aircraft Company in California in 1947. He later left Hughes to be a part of a new company called the Ramo Wooldrige Corporation which ultimately became part of TRW. In the 1960's he left TRW to start his own business before finally retiring in 1990. Besides his family, the great joy of his life was sailing, and he spent many happy days off the coast of southern California both leisure sailing and ocean racing. Bill is survived by his and Margarita's two children, Christina Sierk and husband, Arnold of Los Alamos, NM and Jim Hebenstreit and wife, Linda of Manhattan Beach, CA; three grandchildren, Michael Sierk and wife, Michelle of Greensburg, PA, Brian Steele-Sierk and wife, Dana of Lake Stevens, WA, and Kimberly Sierk of Albuquerque, NM; and four great-grandchildren, Emma Steele-Sierk, Sam Steele-Sierk, Andrew Sierk and Daniel Sierk. He also leaves his sister, Mary Ann Sporl and husband, Robert of San Diego, CA; daughter-in-law Linda Hebenstreit's two sons, Andrew and Jeffrey Peterson; and several nieces and nephews. Scattering of cremated remains will be held Saturday, April 18, 2009, 10:30 a.m., at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE. KELLOFF -- Eve Kelloff, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother, Sister, and Auntie was called to heaven on April 13, 2009. Eve was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Joseph C. Kelloff and is survived by her husband, James Sleeman of Bennington, VT. She is survived by her son Paul Kelloff of Albuquerque; daughters, Donna Ferris of Sun Lakes, AZ, Emily Rue of Mesa, AZ, Denise Kelloff-Johnson of Phoenix, AZ, and Lisa Kelloff of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren, Bleu Raines, Tara Stalker, Gina Franch, Sarah Summers, Amber Rue, Cedric Rue, Paul Kelloff Jr., and a brother Charles Kahwajy of Farmington, NM. Eve was also blessed with nine great-grandchildren. She was born on July 15, 1927 in Boston, MA to a father who emigrated from Lebanon and a mother of Lebanese descent from Nova Scotia, Canada. Eve and Joe were the owners of several well-known businesses in Farmington, NM from the early 1950s. PATTERSON -- George B. Patterson, Sr., 88, a resident of Albuquerque since 1962, died peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009. He was born to Tice E. Patterson and Nettie Pendleton Patterson on June 8, 1920 and lived in Vine Grove, KY until he went to Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green. After graduation, he met Dolly D. Sneed and they were married on August 17, 1942. He joined the Army Air Corp at Fort Knox, KY, and during WWII was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received during battle at Kwajalein Atoll, an island in the Marshalls. While teaching ROTC at East Caroline College in Greenville, NC, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity, he received a Masters Degree. Following a career in the U.S.A.F., George retired a Major and made Albuquerque his home. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Kentucky. His greatest joy was his family, but he loved to travel and meet people -- he never knew a stranger. So, when he was not attending classes at the University of New Mexico, or at the Kirtland Base Gym, he was traveling the world. He enjoyed golf, fishing and camping, as well as chess, racquetball and handball. George was a loving husband, a wonderful and supporting father, and a great friend to all. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louis "Tut" Lee Patterson; sisters, Lolah M. Ritchie, Theresa D. Gatrost, and Mary M. Osborne; wife of 30 years, Dolly D. Sneed; son, David Mark Patterson; grandson, George B. Patterson, III; and daughter-in-law, Gayle D. Patterson. He is survived by his daughter, Greta Kathy Congable and her husband, Michael; granddaughter, Karen L. McFarland and husband, Jamie; great-grandsons, Shea T. Thun, Cody R. Thun, and Nathan J. McFarland, all of Albuquerque; son, George B. Patterson, Jr. and his wife, Debbie; grandson, Jacob N. Patterson and Rosie Martinez; great-granddaughters, Makayla and Shania; granddaughter, Charlotte Dinerstein and her husband, Kevin; great-grandson, Shane and great-granddaughter, Chole, all of Albuquerque; grandson, Daniel Patterson and his fiancee, Amanda Krull of Colorado; granddaughter, Stephanie Patterson of Albuquerque; daughter, Jennifer L. Patterson and Robert L. Bryant, of Albuquerque; son, David Mark Patterson, deceased, and his wife, Bonnie Patterson DuCharme; grandson, David Mark Patterson and Holly Bouchard; great-grandsons, Connor James Appleby, and Mark Daniel Patterson; and great-granddaughters, Lydia Rose Patterson and Jasmine Victoria Bouchard, all of Biddeford, ME; Gatrost family in Missouri and Kansas, Osborne family in Kentucky and Tennessee, and Ritchie family in Louisiana, Texas, and Kentucky. SALAZAR -- Antonio "Tony" Salazar, born September 3, 1932, went home to be with the Lord on Easter Monday, April 13, 2009. Antonio is survived by his wife of 55 years, Manuela; his children, Robert and wife Cathy, Marcos and wife Diane, Mary A. Salazar, Mary M. and husband Leo Martinez, Daniel and Carol, Anita and husband Chris Tavasci, Ricardo and wife Brenda; granddaughters, Monica Carabajal, Danielle and Deanna Salazar; great-grandchildren, Makayla and Ezekiel, his two brothers, Ignacio and wife Carmen, Luis Salazar and wife Dolores. Honorary Pallbearers are grandsons Sr. Airman, Marcos Dominguez and Sebastian Salazar. The pallbearers will be grandsons, Robert Salas, Ray Marquez Jr., Anthony and Patrick Salazar, Daniel Salazar Jr., Michael Aguilar, Tomas Jimenez, and Joe Crespin. Antonio was a proud Veteran who served his country in the Korean War. She was an active member of the Japanese American Citizens League Bowling Club and enjoyed watching all sports on T.V. She was an avid Denver Bronco and Chicago Cubs fan. Lily was predeceased by her sisters Sumi Horibe, Mitzi Nishikawa and Christine Moy. She is survivied by her husband Henry (Hank); daughter Patricia Torino of Las Vegas, NV; sister Mary Ota, brothers Jim, Tom (Haru) and Henry (Sheila) Ito all of the Chicago area; in-laws Fred and Marie Yoshimoto and Yo Yoshimoto of Albuq. and Phillip Moy of Torrance, CA; nieces and nephews in various cities and states. Memorial Services will be held at Riverside Funeral Home following cremation on Friday April 17, 2009 at 11 a.m.
