BOWERS -- Eloise W. Bowers, 74, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away February 11, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband Ronald L. Bowers USAF Retired; sister, Mildred Boggs and her brother Mac Watts. Eloise is survived by her children; Alan Bowers his wife Mary and their children A.J. Bowers and Ashley Bowers, Mark Bowers his wife Kathleen and their sons Jason Bowers his wife Trish and John Bowers; daughter Ronda Wolfe her husband Riley and their daughter Haley; one great-grandchild, Alyssa; brothers Horace Watts and wife Lillian of Pennsylvania and Fred Watts and wife Alese of Delaware and her sister in law Mildred "Sugarfoot" Watts of Virginia. Eloise was the devoted wife of a United States Air Force Veteran. She enjoyed her job delivering newspapers for The Albuquerque Journal for over ten years. She was an avid crafter and seamstress. CHAVEZ -- Clory J. died peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. Clory was preceded in death by her husband Lupe Chavez, her son Frank Chavez, her grandson Jonathan-James Chavez, and her parents Frank and Lydia Gutierrez. She is survived by her two daughters, Drucy and husband Flaviano Aragon, and Frances and husband Herman Santillanes and her daughter-in-law Liz Chavez. Three grandchildren, Sharon and husband Chris Chavez, Raul Santillanes, and Ruben Aragon, three great-granddaughters, Janelle, Dyan and Justine Chavez, and a special little friend, Dallas Schmidt. Clory was a member of the Cuba Presbyterian Church. Per Clory's request: A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cuba Presbyterian Church. CLAY -- Marie Daily Clay passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at the age of 94. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Robert Clay; her sons, Charles Stevenson and David Hebron of Conway, MO; and a daughter, Marilyn Sprague of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Marie was born in Minneapolis, MN on May 1, 1914. She married Robert May 18, 1948. The couple has lived in Iowa, South Dakota and Ohio, from where the family moved to Albuquerque in 1955. Marie was always active in church work, where she was a Deacon, taught Sunday school and headed the Vacation Bible School a number of times. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2009, 10:00 a.m., at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper Ave. SE. DAY -- Harrell Jennings Day CMSgt. USAF Ret., passed away Friday, February 13, 2009 at Ladera Nursing Center, after a valiant and brave fight with lung disease. He was born November 9, 1921 in El Paso, TX. Harrell was preceded in death by his father, Roy Lee Day; his mother, Nora Kaemper; brother, R.L. Day and son-in-law, Gene Ray. He was a retired Chief Master Sergeant in the US Air Force, having 26 years of service. After his service with the US Air Force, he went back to UNM and received his PhD. Harrell is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jennie Day; children, Pamela Rody and husband John of Dallas, TX, Gregg Day and wife Michele of Dallas, TX., Nenette Day of Boston, Frances Ray, Mel Sedillo and wife Sam, Marie Sedillo of Albuquerque, Paul Sedillo and wife Marcia of Denver, CO; brother, Dan Day and wife Mary of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Lynette Thompson and husband Vern of Clovis, NM, Darlene Watson and husband Bufford of San Antonio, TX, and he was loved by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. The family would like to especially thank the staff of Ladera Nursing and Rehabilitation Center who took such great care of our husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. DINKELS -- Lucille J Dinkels, 91, a resident of Albuquerque for seven years, passed away on February 13, 2009. She is survived by her son, Tony Kubic and wife Carol; grandson, Kevin Kubic; granddaughter, Tracy Kubic; great-grandchildren, Brittany Kubic, Marisa Downs, John White and Aiden Kubic all of Albuquerque; Sisters, Josephine Fuina of Massapequa, NY and Angie Hernandez of Mahwah, NJ; several nieces and nephews from New York. Lucille was a hard worker and devoted her life to raising her son. Her life was not easy but she had a heart of gold and her memory will never be tarnished. Lucille will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Lucille has now been reunited with the Lord and with all those loved ones who have went before. GONZALES -- Patrick Gonzales, 42, a resident of Santa Fe for over five years passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009. He is survived by his sons, Alexander Jon Gonzales of Albuquerque and Patrick Beau Gonzales of Tome; grandmother Alice Galindre of Albuquerque; father Johnny Gonzales of Bosque Farms; mother Joan Gonzales of Albuquerque; brother Kenny Gonzales and wife Linda of Albuquerque; sisters, Liz Lopez and husband Greg of Hobbs, Jeanette Griego and husband Kenny of Hobbs; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. JENNINGS -- Patricia K. Jennings May 26, 1955 to February 14, 2009 Patricia K Jennings died peacefully at her home Saturday morning, February 14, 2009 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She is survived by her beloved husband, Timothy Zeph Jennings, her children Courtney Ikard, Elliott Ikard and his wife Melanie, Katherine Ikard, Zeph Jennings and Zachary Jennings, her mother Marilyn Burcham and her husband Neil, her father Doug Berryman and his wife Margaret, her sister Fredda Blair and her husband Rick, her brother Doug Berryman and his wife Rhonda, her brother Dan Berryman, her brother Joel Berryman and his wife Tish and her sister Shelley Petersen and husband Eric. She is also survived by Frances Jennings, James Jennings, Jr., Mary Maloney, John Jennings, Thomas Jennings and Carol Rolfs, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. The family wishes to express a special thanks and appreciation to close friends Geneva Bailey, Debbie Armstrong and Michelle Lujan Grisham for their love and care. Patty grew up in Amarillo, Texas but lived most of her life in New Mexico. She has been a resident of Roswell for twenty years. Patty was a golf enthusiast and enjoyed classical music, with a special fondness for pianist Douglas Montgomery. Patty had a distinguished career as an advocate for early intervention, special education and other services for children and families with special needs. She was instrumental in the creation of the New Mexico Medical Insurance Pool, providing health care coverage for New Mexicans who could not obtain or afford health insurance. She was also instrumental in obtaining funding for Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research and numerous other projects to support and enhance the quality of life for New Mexicans. Although Patty was known as a tireless advocate, the truth is her career was second to her love and passion for her family. A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Roswell Convention Center. Pallbearers are Jason Sandel, Joe Andreis, Stuart Ingle, John Vincent Morgan, Jesse French, Bill Wolf, Bill Armstrong and Tom Jennings. Honorary Pallbearers are Andres Morales and Alfredo Gomez. MECHENBIER -- Gerard "Jerry" Michael was born in Pittsburgh, PA on September 1, 1925 and passed away February 13, 2009. He attended grade school in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from high school in Greenville, PA. In 1947, he moved to Albuquerque from Pennsylvania due to asthma. He worked at Soft Water Plumbing and then worked for Driver Miller Plumbing and eventually bought it from his partners. It was then changed to Mechenbier and Sons Plumbing where all five of his children were involved in the business. He was also the president of the Mechanical Contractors Association in the early 1970's. One of his favorite pastimes was working on his ranch in Estancia Valley. In 1950, he married Jane Rodgers. They would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on April 29th. He is survived by his children: Kathy (Ron) Williams of Sandy, Oregon, Mike (Kathy) of Tome, John (Cindy) of Albuquerque, Mark (Catherine) of Amarillo, TX and Jeff (Cheri) of Albuquerque. He was blessed with 15 grandchildren: Bryan, Kristen, Kim, Jessica, Abby, Katie, Emily, Jeremy, Jason, Richelle, Laura, Priscilla, Amber, Jake, Kacie and also had 5 great grand children: Mikey, Adeline, Grace, Anthony, Karl and Owen Gerard. He is survived by three sisters and three brothers: Charles, Norbert and Bernard Mechenbier, Margaret Otteni, Mercedes Ray and Vera Mae Gardner and numerous nephews and nieces and a large extended family. His siblings Joseph, Jerome, Raymond, Ed and Marian Moyer precede him in death. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church for 45 years and served on the school board for many years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved water skiing and racquetball prior to his stroke in 1976. After 1976, he fought his way back from his stroke and other health challenges through the dedication of his family, his love of life and the compassion of his grandchildren. Through it all, he never lost his sense of humor or zest for life. Complications from pneumonia ended his life on earth but his loving memories live on. He will be greatly missed by his numerous relatives, friends and Alex Carrasco, his devoted caretaker. A Rosary will be recited, Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5311 Phoenix NE. Mass will be celebrated Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE. TUTTLE -- Scott Allen Tuttle, 51, passed away on February 12, 2009. Scott was preceded in death by his father, Bob Tuttle. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia (Choo Choo) Tuttle of Rio Rancho NM. He is also survived by his mother, Frances Tuttle of Albuquerque, NM and siblings Bob Tuttle and wife Nancy of Henderson, NV, Alison Porter of Midland, TX, and Todd Tuttle and wife Mary of Albuquerque, NM. Scott is also survived by his step-children Jennifer Culbertson, Alison DeBerry and Amanda Dain all of Albuquerque, and Clark DeBerry of Frisco, TX, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Remembered as a loving Papa Scott to his grandchildren and the fun uncle to his nieces and nephews, Scott endeared himself to all children with his passion for play and storytelling. Scott was born in Glendive, MT on August 20, 1957, to Bob and Fran Tuttle. The family moved to Alamogordo, NM in 1963, where Scott attended school and began a prolific swimming career. He graduated from Alamogordo Sr. High School in May 1975, and continued swimming at NMSU, where he also played water polo. He also held two long distance swimming world records in his age group.Scott worked as a firefighter for the U.S. Forest Service in Arizona and New Mexico for the next several years. He moved to Midland, TX in 1985, where he met his wife Virginia. They were married on November 7, 1992, and moved to Rio Rancho, NM in June 1993 where Scott coached swimming at Sandia Prep and later was Head Swim Coach for Rio Rancho High School. He also coached several years for the Sundance Swim League. Lovingly known as Coach Tuttle, Scott was chosen as the international coach for People to People Sports Ambassadors and traveled to the Netherlands, New Zealand and Australia in that capacity. Scott will be remembered for his passion for sports, particularly NFL football and his San Francisco 49ers. He had an uncanny connection to animals, especially his dogs Meka and Tessie. Scott made every event more fun, every gathering more lively. He had a gift for telling a joke and bringing a measure of joy to everyone around him, and he will be greatly missed. A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Scott Tuttle will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, NM. WATKINS -- Geraldine V. Watkins (Gerrie), a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, February 11 2009, just one day short of her 89th birthday. Gerrie was born February 12, 1920 in Chicago, IL. She loved playing pinochle at the senior center with her friends, and was an avid slot machine player at the casinos. Her idea of a great day was to go to the senior center and play cards, and then off to the casino to tackle the slots. She was dearly loved by her family and will be missed by all of those who knew her. Gerrie is survived by her loving husband Marion Gene Watkins of Albuquerque; her daughter Leigh Anne Kelly of Albuquerque; step children LuJeane Jennings and Joey of Albuquerque; Carol Agurrie and Joe of Albuquerque; Jerry Watkins and Nakita of Phoenix, AZ; and Marion Watkins Jr. and Geraldine of Port Leyden, NY. Gerrie is also survived by granddaughters Cherise Anne Manning and husband Rusty of Temecula, CA.; PJ Jennings and James of Albuquerque; Kennon Williams of San Diego, CA; Kathy Williams of Kingman, AZ and Misty Fife and Kenny of Fort Worth, TX. Great-grandchildren Kyle and Kayla Manning of Temecula, CA; and Angelica Fife of Fort Worth, TX. Cremation has taken place. WILLIAMS -- Wilma Joy (Barnett) Williams, 76, resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009. She is survived by her children, Brad Williams and wife, Mary of Houston, TX, Sharon Chrisman and husband, Larry of Dallas, TX, Eric Williams and wife, Michelle of Fort Collins, CO, and Marilyn Webb and husband, David of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren, Lori and Allen Williams, James, Kayla, Jared and Karyn Chrisman, Brittney, Logan, Marney, and Chloe Williams, Kyle, Cade, and Sara Webb; brothers, Neil Barnett and wife, Cyrilla of Morland, KS, and Rex Barnett and wife, Jean of Broomfield, CO; sister-in-law, Enid Barnett of Wichita, KS; brother-in-law, Cecil Williams and wife, Bette of Holland, MI; several cousins; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends from every aspect of her life who loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years in 2003, James Doyle "JD" Williams; her parents, Irvin H. and Bertha Barnett; oldest brother, Stan Barnett; and sister-in-law, Helen Schuster and husband, Don. Wilma was born in Western, KS near Morland. She attended country school and Morland High School. She graduated from Fort Hayes Kansas State University with a BS in Home Economics and Science in 1954. Wilma taught at St. John, KS from 1954 to 1956 where she met her husband. They married on June 2, 1956. Then they spent the next seven years pursuing her husband's education at MIT and Purdue University while starting their family. At MIT Wilma was employed with the Soil Engineering Department. They moved to Albuquerque in 1963 where her husband was employed by Sandia National Laboratories. She raised her family here and has resided in Albuquerque since that time. Wilma was a faithful Christian and it showed in every area of her life, whether supporting her husband in his career endeavors and church work, raising her children and enjoying their activities, and being involved with her neighbors and community. Even in trying times, her positive attitude never faded. Those who knew Wilma will remember her beauty, her sparkling blue eyes, her quiet laugh and her incredible spirit.
