BUCK -- Charles (Chuck) Allen Buck passed away in the comfort of his home, February 16, 2008 after doing battle with cancer. Chuck managed to go camping, ride his Harley, and most importantly, complete the adoption of his granddaughter Aliyah with a celebratory trip to Disneyland. Chuck was able to enjoy time with family and friends knowing that his time was likely short. Chuck leaves behind his loving and caring wife, Pat; their daughter Aliyah; their two grown children, Alan Kirby and girlfriend, Kelly, and Tammy Kirby; their grandchildren, Precious, D.J., Amber, and Jeffrey. Chuck was born to Bill and Barbara Buck, on May 4, 1956 in Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his brother Steve. He is survived by his parents; Steve's wife, Karen; brothers' Bill and wife, Sharon; Greg and wife, Annamarie; David and wife, Jeanne; Jerry and wife, Vicki; and one sister, Brenda Carroll and husband, Chuck. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck's lifelong love was riding his Harley. He loved the wind in his face and despite his years as an emergency medical technician, he would never pick up a helmet. During his last months, Chuck would get up early on Sunday mornings and ride. He felt close to his Lord there. Chuck served in the United States Army, 82nd Airborne Division and competed on the Army Rifle Team. After his military service, he often spoke of the preparations his unit made to rescue Americans being held hostage in Iran. One of his greatest disappointments was when that mission was aborted. Prior to Chuck's time in the service he worked construction with his dad and brothers. Later, he became an Intermediate EMT, and for the last eight years, he was employed by Conway Freight. Chuck's spirit of service and loyalty were played out in his work life and within his family. His good natured sense of humor was written all over his face. Sooner or later everyone was witness to the look; the rolling eyes and sly smile. Chuck at his best! A Service will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 9500 Constitution N.E. at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2008. Special thanks to hospice nurse Mary Jane, Mesilla Valley Hospice and to all the friends, old and new, that helped and prayed for the family during Chuck's treatment.
