BJORKMAN -- EARLE G. (BJ). Born Febraury 12, 1932, BJ died peacefully in his sleep on December 14, 2005. He spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller and 17 1/2 years with the FAA. He was the oldest lifeguard hired at the Kirtland AFB Olympic Pool. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Doris (Nanny); three sons and their wives, Tye and Judy, Blaine and Cecelia, Shay and Rita; three granddaughters, Erin, Lauren, and Brittany; three grandsons, Ian, Darrin (with the U.S. Navy), and Jordan (who shares BJ's birth date); three great-granddaughters, Daytona, Hope, and Kaylla; and his sister, Mary in Iowa. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. His hand has been clasped and he now walks with God. We, the family, ask all who knew BJ as a kind and pleasant man to think of him and smile. He will be sorely missed. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

CHAVEZ -- Timoteo S. Chavez, 81, was surrounded by his loving family when he peacefully passed into the hands of The Lord on Monday December 19, 2005. Tim faithfully served his country in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Upon his return, Tim served as a tank mechanic in the Army Reserves. Tim retired after 37 years as a master mechanic at Sandia Base. He was dedicated to community service as a lifetime member of the VFW Post 401 and The Disabled American Veterans. All the while Tim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who taught his family how to live with love, honesty, and integrity. Tim's family was the most important thing in the world to him, and family always came first. He was the king of the flea market and he touched countless lives with his silent charm. He was preceded in death by his father, Vicente; mother, Matilde; and brothers, Gregorio, Geronimo, Raul, John, and Ralph. Tim is survived by Daisy Chavez, his wife of 55 years; daughters, Pauline Gallegos and her husband, Reggie, Lorraine Y. Chavez and friend, Hasan Aysheh, and Debbie Schaefer and her husband, Matt. Tim's grandsons are Tim Gallegos and his wife, Heather, along with their children, Hannah and Dane, Paul Gallegos and his wife, Marlene, Brandon Schaefer, Ryan Schaefer, and Nathan Schaefer, all of Albuquerque. His extended family includes his sisters, Longie Romero and Viola Gonzales of California, Aurora Jaramillo and Nellie Gould of Belen, NM, Elena Mueller of Wisconsin, and Senaida Pinkard of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, and friends from coast to coast. A Rosary will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2005 at 6 p.m. at French Mortuary on 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, December 23, 2005 at Prince of Peace, 12500 Carmel, at Tramway and Paseo Del Norte. Internment to follow at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers are: Reggie Gallegos, Tim Gallegos, Paul Gallegos, Matt Schaefer, Brandon Schaefer, Ryan Schaefer; and honorary pallbearer, Nathan Schaefer.

COSPER -- Maria W. Cosper, age 82, a resident of Bosque Farms, NM, passed away on December 17, 2005. She was a member of American Business Woman's Association (ABWA) for approximately 40 years in Flagstaff, AZ, and Albuquerque, NM. She served as president 4 times during her membership. Maria was very active in working to establish several chapters in the Albuquerque area. She was instrumental in helping to organize a college scholarship program for young girls needing financial help. Maria married her husband, Dolph Cosper in 1968, in Flagstaff, AZ. Dolph worked for Yellow Freight Systems and was transferred to Albuquerque in the early 1970s and moved to Bosque Farms in 1976. Maria is survived by her husband, Dolph Cosper; her son, James Michael Arledge, and two grandchildren, Angel and Richard of San Antonio, TX; and her daughter and husband, Shevawn and Michael Price and two grandchildren, Brandon and Ashley, of Henderson, NV. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at 1200 Parsons St. NE, Albuq., NM. GRANDIN -- JUNE B. Our beloved June B. Grandin has passed away. She was taken from us Tuesday, December 13, 2005. June is survived by her two brothers, Lucky and Carl, who live in New York, as well as numerous family members. She has left her loving son, Robert Grandin; and daughter, Barbara Conrad and her husband, Steve Conrad, Jr., and Bryan Grandin. June was a very active member of the Los Lunas community, she loved her job in real estate and will be missed by her many clients and friends. The family has chosen to have a private service at Elephant Butte, a place June truly loved. And due to numerous requests from friends and neighbors, another announcement/memorial will be held after the holidays.

GUY -- James R. Guy, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died suddenly Wednesday, December 21, 2005. Mr. Guy is survived by his wife, Gail; his two children, Laura Ann Avery and Tim Lawrence Guy; five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Guy was born in Jackson, AL. Chief Petty Officer Guy retired from the Navy after serving 28 years during WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. During his career, he was on an around the world cruise on the USS Tarawa in 1947. He taught at the nuclear weapons school at Kirtland for 15 years. Mr. Guy was an active member of the Masons AM&FM. JARAMILLO -- Philip Roger Jaramillo born June 2, 1948, died December 17, 2005 at the VA Hospital. Was a Vietnam Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Patsy of 35 years; four sons, Ramon and Elaine, Santiago and Stephanie, Michael and Synthia and Lawrence Jaramillo; four grandchildren, Isaac, Isiah, Josiah and Jasmine. Also survived by his mother, Bennie Jaramillo; two brothers, Ruben and Richard; one sister, Mary Agnes Armijo. MILES -- Bettye H. Miles, a resident of Belen, NM for 12 years, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Lloyd W. Miles; daughters, Cynthia M. Huepel of Portland, OR. Mrs. Miles was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Hereford; and brothers, Monty, Dick, and Charles Hereford. She was a member of the E.S.A. Sorority, the DAV Auxiliary, the president of the Antique Club, and of the Baptist Church of Belen. Mrs. Miles was a Virginia Aristocrat, which was exemplified by her home and her flair for fashion and design. PADILLA -- Juanita A. Padilla, age 93, a resident of Albuquerque, has gone to be with the Lord, on Wednesday, December 21, 2005. She will be remembered for her love of Jesus, her kindness, good humor, and the love for her family and friends. She will be missed and will always live in our hearts. She is preceded in death by her husband, Atanacio Padilla; and four sons, Adonaiz, Isidro, Steve, and Elfigo. Mrs. Padilla is survived by her sons, Apolo, Frutoso, Frank and wife, Teresa, Johnny and wife, Judy; and her daughters, Priscilla Carrillo and husband, Lurie, Pauline McMaster and husband, Ray, Lucille and Abel Gamboa, Annabelle Carrillo and husband, Luis; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends. ROOP -- Harry "Buck" Roop, 55, a resident of Raton, NM, died Monday, December 19, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Debera Roop; children, Dedee, Billy, Adrienne, Aimee, Nelson, and Thomas; seven grandchildren; sisters, Ann, Becky, and Marion; and many nieces, nephews, and other family. Buck served his country as a proud Marine and was a strong and loving family man. He worked for the BNSF Railroad for almost 27 years. SJOSTEDT -- Margaret B. (Barry) Sjostedt, 93, of Thomaston, CT, and Horizon Vista, Belen, NM, formerly of Watertown, CT, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005 at Waterbury Extended Care in Watertown. She was the widow of H. Raymond Sjostedt. Mrs. Sjostedt was born in Watertown, CT on December 28, 1911, daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Dunn) Barry. She lived most of her life in Watertown. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, CT, class of 1930. She was secretary at Polk School in Oakville, CT for 20 years before her retirement. She was a communicant at St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of its Alter Guild and Council of Catholic Women. She was a volunteer at Fairfield Hills; a 25-year member of the Watertown/Oakville Mental Health Association; a member of the Watertown Foundation; a member of the Girl Scout Council and served as a Girl Scout Leader. She was an avid bridge player. In New Mexico, she was a member of Our Lady of Belen Church in Belen, NM and Immaculate Conception Church in Tom‚, NM. She was also a member of the Horizon Ladies' Association and served as its treasurer. She leaves two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Rae Gutjahr of Belen, NM and Elizabeth "Beth" Fontaine of Thomaston, CT; two grandchildren and their spouses, Ted Taylor and Miki of Japan and Meghan Kofod and Peter of Raleigh, NC; three step-grandchildren, Kurt Gutjahr of Denver, CO, Eric Gutjahr and Angie of Columbus, IN, and Kristine Cassidy of Corrales, NM; two great-grandchildren, Christian and Annelise Kofod; four step-great-grandchildren, Troy and Brett Cassidy, Brigid Lavender, and Beck Gutjahr; and several nieces and nephews, including Barry McKeon of Watertown, CT. Her brother, Joseph Barry; sister, Helen Barry McKeon; son-in-law, Allan Gutjahr; and great-grandson, Kenshiro Taylor, are deceased. Funeral Services will be held Friday morning, 9:15 a.m., from Hickcox Funeral Home, 195 Main St., Watertown, CT, to St. John the Evangelist Church for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial in Mount St. James Cemetery, Porter Street, Watertown, CT, will be in the spring. SMITH -- James D. Smith, 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1992, passed away on December 16, 2005. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Ann Rutledge Smith and is survived by his daughters, Margaret (Peggy) J. Smith and Nancy S. Bledsoe (John D. Bledsoe) of Albuquerque. Also surviving are his grandchildren, James H. Bledsoe of San Diego and Elizabeth B. Hill (Daniel M. Hill) of Chicago and his significant other, Norma Schmider of Albuquerque. Mr. Smith was born in Chicago October 14, 1925 to William Milford and Elizabeth Marcus Smith. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the 63rd Infantry Division and was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Smith was employed for many years at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA as a Systems Analyst. In his retirement, Mr. Smith volunteered at the Albuquerque Public Library and at the Barelas Community Center providing tax preparation for senior citizens. Mr. Smith was known for his humor, outstanding wit, concern for the environment and, in particular, his love of children, music, and dogs. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 4:00 p.m. in the University of New Mexico Alumni Chapel. A reception will follow the service at the family home. Mr. Smith's cremains will be interred at Belfontaine Cemetery in St. Louis at a later date. WELCH -- Jeanne Welch, 81, died on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, in Albuquerque. She was born on January 17, 1924, in Omaha, NE to Pops Elikan and Henrietta Jacobson Elikan. Jeanne is survived by her husband, Homer Welch; her children, Aaron Siegel of Bedford, TX, Fred Siegel and spouse, Sherry of Los Lunas, NM, and Eric Siegel and spouse, Nancy of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by four grandchildren, David, Andy, and Kara Siegel and Davine Sanchez; four great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Risse, Ethan, and Alyssa Sanchez. Jeanne enjoyed needlepoint and enjoyed volunteering her time for the Republican Party. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
