BLYTHE -- Marie Adele Widdifield Jones Blythe, age 88, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2005, while in the loving care of the Hospice Nurses and Staff at Anna Kaseman Hospital in Albuquerque, following a long illness, recently identified as cancer. Marie was born on a farm north of Oakley, Kansas, on August 1, 1917, the youngest of seven children of Walter and Ida Widdifield. She is preceded in death by her parents and all her brothers and sisters. Following graduation from Oakley High School in 1935, Marie completed her freshman year at Eastern New Mexico University, where she had major roles in several musical productions and traveled throughout New Mexico as part of a choral group promoting ENMU, then in its second year of existence. She was accepted to Julliard School of Music but lacked the financial means to attend, as her college savings had been lost in the banking crisis of the depression. In the summer of 1936 Marie married her college sweetheart, Art Jones, in a ceremony that began in the Methodist Church in downtown Albuquerque but had to be hastily moved north when the minister noticed that the marriage license had been issued in Sandoval County. . . so they chose a pastoral spot along the highway, climbed through the barbed wire fence, and completed the service in the presence of a few cows and other witnesses. The couple enjoyed a lively social life as members of the 20-30 Club in the small town of Albuquerque, which at the time had a population of only 35,000. Their marriage did not survive; but their only son, Bob Jones, survives his parents and lives in Bosque Farms, with his wife, Irene. Grandchildren from this union are: Robbie Jones of Socorro, NM, K. C.Jones of Rachvale, NM, and Bonnie Jones, a student at UNM. Following her divorce, Marie worked at KICA radio station in Clovis, NM before moving to Albuquerque, where her working career included selling bonds for the War Department during World War II and secretarial/bookkeeping jobs with several employers, including Allis Chalmers, The Maloof Company and Sandia Labs, where she worked for over 16 years. After her retirement from Sandia Labs, Marie established "The Gift Box" in Peralta, where she befriended many people and sold items on consignment for local artists. Her most memorable experience during this period was being tied up and robbed at gunpoint by local thieves who stole turquoise jewelry and the money from their cash register. Marie was married for a second time in 1946 to John A. Blythe (Deceased), a sergeant in the Army Air Corps who had served in India during World War II. They lived in Albuquerque but later moved to Peralta and remodeled a home that was once part of the headquarters of the Lo de Padilla Land Grant. One son from this union, Wayne Leo Blythe, passed away in 2000, and was buried in a private cemetery in the foothills east of their residence, where his mother's remains will be interred beside him. Grandchildren from this union include: Samantha Walters and her husband David of Veguita, NM, Lenora Hirschfeld and her husband Joseph of Moriarty, NM, Michelle Stover and her husband Chris of Moriarty, NM, Jeneen Cales, and Corie Cooke and her husband Stewart of Albuquerque. Surviving great-grandchildren include: Richard Becker, Joseph Becker, Scott Becker, Rosa Becker, Stephanie Burdine, Shannon Burdine, Annamichelle Hirschfeld, Joseph David Hirschfeld, Theresa Hirschfeld, Brenda Lee Hirschfeld, Alexandra Stover, Corey Deojay, Josh Cales, and Renate Cooke. Marie is also survived by her loving nephews and nieces, many of whom she helped care for when they were young: Richard Bertrand of Lincoln, Nebraska, Bob Bertrand of Golden, Colorado, Gene Bertrand of Sharon Springs, Kansas, Janice Bertrand Owen of Longmont, Colorado, Willa Lee Widdifield Cotton of Clovis, New Mexico, and Myrna Dee Widdifield Floyd of Horseshoe Bay, Texas. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church (865-9334) with Pastor Dave Blackwell presiding.

GARCIA -- Johnny. In Memory of Johnny "Molina" Garcia a mass will be held at Holy Family Church at 6:30 am Wednesday, December 21, 2005. To those I love and those who love me. When I am gone Release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears. Be happy that we had so many years. I give you my love. You can only guess how much you gave to me and happiness. I thank you for the love. You each have shown, but now its time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while, for if grieve you must, then let grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories with in you heart. I won't be so far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call and I will come, though you can't see or touch me, I will be near. And if you listen with your heart, You'll hear all my love around you soft and clear, and then when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile, and say, "WELCOME HOME!"
