BACA -- Eleanor Baca of Albuquerque passed away Friday, November 25, 2005 of complications from pneumonia. Eleanor is survived by her children: Gina Fulton, Steve Giraudo, Diane McDermott, Mike Giraudo, Angelina Giraudo, and Mario Giraudo; her sisters, Trini Sanchez, Clara Blackwood, and Fina Chaves; and eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Eleanor was born and raised in Albuquerque - one of seven children of Ramon and Rosalia Baldonado. Eleanor married Joe Giraudo and together they raised six children. Later in life, they divorced and Eleanor married Willie Baca. Eleanor will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her generous heart, and her love of life. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends; dancing, baking biscochitos and empanadas, volunteering at the senior centers, organizing tour bus visits to the casinos, bowling, competing in the Senior Olympics, and singing, and playing the guitar and the drums with her musical band - The Golden Stars. Eleanor was a member of the choir at Holy Family Church for ten years, she volunteered at senior centers on Fourth and Seventh Street, and she was a member of the counsel of the center on Seventh Street. Eleanor began volunteering over 25 years ago, and she received over 75 letters and certificates of appreciation from the city of Albuquerque and the Office of Senior Affairs. Eleanor was loved and adored by all she touched - she will be missed by many. To us, she was a star! A Rosary will be recited at Holy Family Catholic Church at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2005 and Funeral Services will be at Holy Family on Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery with a reception lunch at Holy Family Parish Hall. DAVEY -- Susan Truscott Davey, 99, a resident of Albuquerque since 1976, died on Friday, November 25, 2005 after an extended illness. Mrs. Davey was born on December 1, 1905 in Pennsylvania, and died 5 days short of her 100th birthday. She was born in a Methodist parsonage and lived in a parsonage until her husband retired in 1969. Susan is the last surviving sibling of seven children born to Rev. and Mrs. James Truscott. Susan Davey is the widow of the Rev. Dr. Richard J. Davey, a Methodist minister who served parishes in Pennsylvania, New York, Arizona, and New Mexico. Dr. Davey's last parish assignment was with St. John's United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. Dr. Davey died in 1987 after a 58-year marriage. Mrs. Davey was an active participant in Methodist activities, holding offices in both district and conference. She was awarded Life Membership status and Special Mission Recognition status with the United Methodist Women's Organization. She was a member of Chapter AW, P.E.O., and the United Methodist Women's organization since 1929. Susan was a partner of her husband in parish activities and she continued her involvement in activities at St. John's until recent years. Mrs. Davey is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Sue Davey of Oceanside, CA, D. Joan Heinsohn and her husband, Robert of Albuquerque; a son, Richard James Davey, MD and his wife, Susan Backes, MD of Houston, TX; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 1, 2005, 3:00 p.m., at Manzano del Sol Good Samaritan Village, 5201 Roma NE, on her 100th birthday, with Pastors Clyde Stanfield and David Edwards officiating. LUCERO -- Deluvina Lucero "Luvie", age 75, passed away Monday, November 28, 2005 after a long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Victoria Pena in 1986. Luvie is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Rivera; mother, Stella Velasquez; sisters, Tina Lueras, Candy Gonzales and husband, Eloy and Teresa Schubert; brother, Ralph Schubert; grandchildren, Geraldine Gallegos, Ingrid Montoya, Emily Huerta, Javier Salinas and Joel Marquez; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews; other family members and friends who all loved her very dearly and will miss her. MALDONADO -- ERNEST P. JR. Mr. Ernest P. Maldonado Jr., 40, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 26, 2005. Ernest is survived by his mother, Rosie Maldonado; wife, Vanessa Maldonado; four children, Ernest P. Maldonado III, Nicole Maldonado, Andrea Maldonado, and Ashley Maldonado; two sisters, Jeanette Maldonado and Antonio Segura Jr. and Lorraine Maldonado and John Reid; grandmother, Luby Lopez; two nieces, Natasha and Antoinette; one nephew, Eric; one great-nephew, Antonio Segura III; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Ernest was preceded in death by his father, Ernest P. Maldonado Sr. Ernest was a member of the Catholic Church. A visitation will be held on Tuesday evening at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church, 8301 Camino San Martin SW, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Pablo Maldonado Jr. Final visitation will be Wednesday morning at Santuario de San Martin Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Father Vance. MCMILLEN -- William Paul McMillen (Mack), age 83, and a longtime Albuquerque resident, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, November 22, 2005. His devoted wife of 44 years Anna, and many other family members survive him. Mack retired from the U.S. Army in 1972 and was proud that he had fought in two wars, having served his country proudly. He also was an ex-POW. Mack will be greatly missed. A Graveside Interment Service will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday November 30, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. with U.S. Army Honors. MIERA -- Dell Baca Miera died peacefully in her sleep on Thanksgiving Day surrounded by her loving family. Dell was born in Reserve, NM on January 21, 1915. She was the daughter of the late Filimon Baca and Margaret Romero Baca. She is survived by her sister, Josina Baca Chimenti of Albuquerque; her daughter, Loretta Miera Huenefeld (LeRoy); her cherished granddaughters, Jamie and Kristi Huenefeld; cousins, Bart Chimenti (Donna), Dr. Robert Chimenti (Kate), Angie Adams, Arthur Baca (Ginger); and her many nieces and nephews. Dell was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joe S. Miera; daughters, Eugenia Miera Barker and Agnes Miera Ireland; her brother, Arthur F. Baca; and her grandson, Jeremy Joseph Huenefeld. Dell moved from Reserve to Albuquerque as a young child and she attended and graduated from the Loretto Academy in Santa Fe. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Masters Degree in Education where she received the Ives Memorial Scholarship while attending the University. She taught in the Albuquerque Public School system for 35 years at Lew Wallace Elementary and retired in 1975. Dell was the first president of Pi Lambda Theta Sorority, a national honor society for retired teachers. The sorority awarded her the 1991 Scepter and Key Award recognizing her 50 years of service. She was also awarded the "Alumnus Award for outstanding contributions and dedicated service" from the Albuquerque Chapter of the UNM Alumni Association. Dell was active in the Albuquerque and New Mexico Association of Retired Teachers, holding the office of President and Executive Secretary. She will always be known as a "Pink Lady" by the St. Joseph's hospital staff. Dell will be remembered for her work ethic, integrity, her love of children and above all, her great smile. Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. MONTANO -- Lisa Marie Montano, age 35, was called home Friday, November 25, 2005. Her career was saving lives as a registered nurse, and she gave the gift of life in giving her organs. She was born September 5, 1938 in Albuquerque, NM and graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1954. Sylvia retired from the Department of Labor. ORTIZ -- Reymundo Ortiz Sr., born in Alameda, NM, and a lifelong resident of Chilili, NM, passed away Friday, November 25, 2005. Reymundo Ortiz Sr. was the founder of the Chilili Rodeo Club and a member for over 40 years. He was the Caretaker of the Chilili Cemetery for 50 years, a Board Member of the Chilili Water Association for 40 years and a Notary Public for the State of New Mexico for over 40 years. He is survived by his children, Alfredo Ortiz and wife, Lena, Francisco Ortiz and wife, Ramona, Mary C. Duran, Luciano Ortiz and wife, Mary Ann, Velma Gurule and husband, Orlando, Adelia Gallegos and husband, Arturo, Gilbert Ortiz and wife, Lorraine, Herman Ortiz and wife, Donna, Virginia Gutierrez and husband, Frank, Reymundo Ortiz Jr., Bernie Ortiz and wife, Rosenda; 40 grandchildren; 74 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; many other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. PETERSON -- Betty Ann Peterson (nee Leitch), died at home after a long illness, on the morning of Nov. 10, 2005, with her daughters beside her. She had lived in Albuquerque since 1997, after her husband's retirement from the U.S. Geological Survey, in Menlo Park, CA. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Albuquerque Newcomers Club, an enthusiastic participant in Jazzercise, an adventurous world traveler, an accomplished gardener and needleworker, and was trained in Ikebana flower arrangement. As a 37-year survivor of breast cancer, she had mentored many others. Preceding her in death were her husband of 55 years, Donald W. Peterson, and her youngest daughter, Susan Herring. She is survived by her daughter, Karen Peterson and son-in-law, Dwight Frankfather of Oak Park, IL; daughter, Kristine Peterson and son-in-law, Greg Ingwaldson of Albuquerque; son-in-law, Stephen Herring of Tarboro, NC; five grandchildren, Arwen Wilder, Vidrik Frankfather, Peter Herring, Julia and Derek Ingwaldson; a baby great-granddaughter, Ea Liliko'i Eckwall; and her brother and sister-in-law, DeWitt T. and Hazel Leitch of Wilsonville, OR; and is also mourned by a wide circle of friends. ROSE -- Ivan "Joe" J. Rose, age 65, of Albuquerque, NM, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 25, 2005, passing away unexpectedly of a heart attack. He graduated from St. Mary's in 1958. He went to Electronics School and then worked for Boeing Aircraft of Seattle, WA, working on Minuteman Missiles in Washington State and North Dakota, until he was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1963. He received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from University of New Mexico. He worked for Kirtland A.F.B. Civil Engineers from 1970-1984 and then he went to work for D.O.E., until his retirement, January 3, 2005. Ivan belonged to the National Society of Professional Engineers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth Stewart Rose and Ivan Eugene Rose; identical twin sons, Ivan Lee and Jack Stewart Rose; grandparents, William Mahlon and Grace Ellen Rose; and uncles, George, Orville, Warren Luke, and Russell. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Karen Langell Rose, son, Jeff Rose and wife, Jerri and children, Cole and Lydia; daughters, Julie Jones and children, Ashley, Chris, Lauren, and Amber Jones, Ann Marie and husband, Dave Dominguez of Farmington and their children, Kiara and Aric Russell Moriarty. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Jean Cunningham, her daughters, Deanna, Samantha, Andrea and husband, Aric, and three children, Dylan, Mary Hannah and Isabella, from Arkansas and Tennessee; longtime friend and brother-in-law, Bob Langell; and aunts, Arlene Alison, Helen Hager and Dorothy Mumm.. He was a descendant of M.T. Moriarty and his daughters, Elizabeth Moriarty Woodman and Margaret Moriarty Stewart; grandmother, and Joe Stewart; grandfather, his mom's sister and brother, Margaret Stewart Moriarty and George Stewart, all deceased. He is known for his integrity, wisdom, and honesty. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He had a passion to be with his grandchildren, and to be in the outdoors with his hunting dogs. He will be missed tremendously. SHINE -- Daniel P. Shine, 49, passed away, Saturday, November 26, 2005. He was born January 18, 1956, a son of Daniel Joseph and Violet Mae Dunning Shine. He was a life-long resident of Albuquerque, and was a graduate of Del Norte High School. He worked as a sales consultant at Roberts Truck Center. He married Kris Kemper, May 19, 1979, in Albuquerque. They were the proud parents of six children: Mary, and husband, Gary Herrera; Kathy Shine; Marcello; Joseph Shine; Amanda Shine; Ramon Shine; all of Albuquerque. They were also involved in the Foster Parent Program and were hosts to 90 + Foster Children. Survivors include his wife and children; his mother, Violet; one sister, Dinah Lynn and husband Lyndell; two nieces, and four nephews, all of Albuquerque. Also surviving are many friends. She is survived by her husband Dale Willits; daughter, Angela Willits; son, Dale Willits; grandchildren, Tobin and Dadrian Willits; sister, Lucy Quezada; brothers, Bernie Garcia, Alfonso Garcia, Jimmy Garcia, Anthony Garcia, and Billy Garcia; and many other friends and family members.
