BACA -- Mrs. Josie P. Baca, 93, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on November 23, 2005 peacefully at home with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Baca is survived by her loving daughters, Dolores Padilla, Priscilla Baca and Anna Baca; five grandchildren, Ricardo Padilla (Radio Personality), Rafael Baca (Esquire), Arthur Baca M.D., Yolanda Hall and Lupe Dragich; four great-grandchildren, Don, Ellie, Nicole and Joe; two great-great-grandchildren, Keely and Evina; many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. Mrs. Baca was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Baca, a son, Major Jose R. Baca, a daughter, Viola Baca, three sisters, Theresa, Lucy and Rose, a son in law, Celso Padilla and a grandson, Michael Padilla. Mrs. Baca was a member of the Catholic Church. She was born in ABO, New Mexico and lived there until she married Albert in 1937. She was a special mother, Believing in God, Faith and Family. She was a wonderful cook and will leave a large void in the lives she touched. A visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel from 1:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 2:00 p.m. by Esther Barela and the Legion of Mary. Final visitation will be Monday morning from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 5415 Fortuna NW with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. by Father Joel Garner and Father Roberto Fenzl con-celebrants of the Mass. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Paiz, Fidel Rodriquez, Ponce Marquez, Steve Flores, Miguel Gonzales and Arthur Baca. Honorary pallbearers will be Lorenzo B. CLARKE -- Dora L. Clarke, 90, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at a local hospital. She was born July 4, 1915 in Albuquerque to Cresenciano and Maria (Candelaria) Lucero. She married Reed S. Clarke on June 7, 1944 in Albuquerque. Mrs. Clarke attended Albuquerque Public Schools and was a graduate from Albuquerque High School in 1933. She was fluent in English and Spanish. Mrs. Clarke attended the University of New Mexico for two years and began teaching with a two year college certificate. Her first APS assignment was in year 1935-36. She continued university work during summers and night school, receiving B.S. degree in 1943 and M.A. in 1957. Her experience has been 47 1/2 years in the full range of educational positions. She was an APS classroom teacher, elementary and secondary including the teaching of Spanish in both elementary and secondary school. Mrs. Clarke was a primary curriculum consultant with APS for 16 years and for the Overseas Teach Corps in Caracas, Venezuela taught summer session 1964 a math workshop for supervisors. She worked on a UNM project in Quito, Equador, language arts workshop for administrators and supervisors and summer math workshops for College of St. Joseph and University of New Mexico extension department during the summers of 1962 and 1963. Mrs. Clarke was Director of Head Start Summer Session, 1970. She assisted Dr. Ethna Reid, Reading Workshop, Valley High School, summer 1973 at La Verne College in Downey, CA. Mrs. Clarke served on the School Board for St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church during 1971. For thirteen years administration as elementary school principal at Five Points, Alameda, Whittier, Mission Elementary, Armijo and Bandelier. During 1971 and 1972, she completed an additional 30 hours at UNM, U of A, and La Verne College, CA in reading, team learning, adult education, curriculum, bilingual education, kindergarten methods and guidance. At present Mrs. Clarke's degree is M.A. +30 additional hours. In 1983 she retired from Bandelier Elementary school after a total of 47 1/2 years in APS. She is survived by her husband, Reed Clarke of Albuquerque; daughter, Idelle Clarke of Pasadena, CA; son, Blaine Reed Clarke; grandsons, Cameron R. Clarke and Michael R. Clarke; granddaughters, Lyndy Kay Clarke, all of Albuquerque and Heather M. Cowles of California; sister, Tonie Angel; and brother, Fred Lucero. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 11:30 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. SE. GONZALES -- Nancy R. Gonzales was born September 10, 1944. She passed away Sunday, November 20, 2005. HAHN -- Lorraine Furrer Hahn, 89, died Wednesday, November 23, 2005. She was born to Walter and Faye Harvey Furrer in Easton, IL on July 8, 1916 and came to Albuquerque in the 1950's. Mrs. Hahn was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and husbands, James Russell and William Hahn, Sr. She is survived by her children, William Hahn, Jr., Margery Ann Rigsby, Philip E. Hahn and Jane Hahn Reed; as well as several grandchildren. Mrs. Hahn retired from Quality Pontiac after 26 years and was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date. HORNER -- David Elwyn Horner, of Rio Rancho, NM passed away Tuesday November 22, 2005. He was born June 18, 1930 In Detroit, Michigan. David grew up and was educated in the Detroit area. He joined the Army in 1947 and served his country for 22 years, retiring from the Army in 1969. He returned to Michigan and worked for the State of Michigan where he retired in 1995. He had been in Albuquerque with family for the past 9 years. Survived by daughter, Betsy Lovato and her husband, Edward of Rio Rancho, NM; son, David A. Horner and his wife, Conny of Moglingen, Germany; grandchildren, Elaine Lovato, Edward Lovato, Franziska Horner, Patrik Horner and Tom Horner. He was preceded in death by his parents. JONES -- Woodrow Jones, Jr., PhD, passed away on November 22, 2005. Dr. Jones was formerly a Political Science professor at San Diego State University in San Diego, CA and Dean of Education Emeritus at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. He is preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Warren Jones. He leaves to mourn his going home to his loving and devoted wife, Mary Wolf; two daughters, Kamilah Brown and husband, Torrence, of Chicago, IL and Halimah Jones of College Station, TX; one grandson, Torrence Woodrow Brown of Chicago, IL; his parents, Woodrow and Florence Jones of Albuquerque, NM; and two brothers, Prentis L. JORDAN -- Anthony, age 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2005. He is survived by his daughters, Roberta Zorrilla of Albuquerque and Teresa Rose Jordan Elms and husband, Bryan Paul of Aurora, CO; sister, Ange Marrow of Pennsylvania; numerous nieces and nephews including Anthony Rossi and James Jordan both of Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella M. Jordan in 2004 and by five sisters and one brother. Anthony had a cheerful disposition and was once called "Smiley". He loved to bowl, was a member of the American Legion and was a life-time member of Elks Lodge 461. He served state side during WWII with the US Army. He was a founder of Holy Ghost Parish. MARTINEZ -- Joe Martinez, age 80, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2005. A native New Mexican, he served in the US Coast Guard during WWII, where he was a POW and received the Purple Heart Medal. Joe was also a longtime member of ACRA Search and Rescue. He was preceded in death by his son, Rick Martinez and grandsons, David Martinez, Mark Martinez, Jonathon Martinez and Fabian Moreno Jr. Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Pauline Martinez; daughters, Beverly Williams and husband, Ben, Jeanne Martinez, Susan Wheeler and Cheryl Moreno; grandchildren, Donovan, Damian, Scott and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Rhianna, Cain, Joseph and John; sisters, Alvi and Frances; extended family members, Bill Kornrumph and family; other family members and friends who loved and will miss him. MCMASTER -- Lois D. McMaster, 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 21, 2005. She was born in Flushing, Long Island, New York on August 18, 1920. She served as Sunday School Superintendent and Girl Scout Troop Leader on Howard Air Force Base in the former Panama Canal Zone. In Albuquerque, she was neighborhood chairwoman for the Girl Scouts and a troop leader, served as secretary and treasurer of the Montgomery Elementary School PTA, program chairwoman for the American Business Women's Business Association, and worked for the former Ground Observer's Corps. Mrs. McMaster retired from Sears as a division manager in 1974. She was a member of Hoffmantown Baptist Church where she served in the Prayer Room. She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, John Bruce McMaster of Albuquerque; son, Bruce McMaster; daughter, Vicki McFall, Wendy Orr and husband, Charles; grandchildren, Wendy McFall, Shannon Rhoades and husband, Courtney, Jesse Orr and wife, Marta, Jennifer Orr and John Orr; great-grandsons, Jonathan McFall and Tristan Zottneck; great-granddaughters, Kirstyn and Ashley Rhoades, all of Albuquerque. ORTIZ -- Eloy Roberto (Bobby) Ortiz, 65, born November 5, 1940 passed away on November 18, 2005 with his loving family by his side. Mr. Ortiz is the beloved husband to, Mrs. Alicia Segovia Ortiz married for 30 years. He is also survived by his loving mother, Mrs. Pauline V. Ortiz; three loving children, Cecilia A. Coca and husband, Jeff, Geralda (Lala) Jansen and husband, David and Abraham (Aba) Ortiz; three brothers, Patrick DeBaca and wife, Donna, Alfred (Freddy) Ortiz and wife, Roseanita and Michael Ortiz; three sisters, Prescilla Garcia and husband, Raymond, Lorraine Sanchez and Geraldine (Gerry) Meyer and husband, Michael; five grandchildren, Cecily, Christopher, Brianna, Jeffrey and Alyssa. Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Eloy Ortiz, beloved grandmother, Julia Kavanaugh, an uncle, Abraham Kavanaugh, his grandfathers, Jose Varela and Adolpho Ortiz, grandmother, Maria Ortiz, nephew, Matthew Garrett Meyer and a brother-in-law and best friend, Gilbert (El Solitario) Sanchez. Bobby was born in his beloved Las Vegas, New Mexico where he lived with his parents and Grandma Julia and Uncle Aba. When his parents moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico in the early 1950's, he got to stay and live with his grandma and uncle. While he lived there he attended high school at West Las Vegas, home of the Dons, but graduated from Albuquerque High School in Albuquerque in 1959. While still in high school, he joined the Army National Guard. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy where he served over 28 years faithful service to his country. He served three tours of Vietnam. He was a photographer in the Navy and continued with this profession until he died. During the course of his life, he served in the Army, Marines and Navy. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1983, after his retirement from the Navy, he moved with his wife and family back to Las Vegas, New Mexico where he established his photography studio, "Roberto's Casa de Photographia" at the old family dwelling on South Pacific. A visitation will be Sunday at St. Charles Catholic Church, 1818 Coal SE from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Geraldine Meyer. Final visitation will be Monday morning from 9:00 a.m until 9:30 a.m. with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. by Father Robert Lussier, SSS. Interment of Mr. Ortiz's Cremains will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. with full Military Honors by the United States Navy. RAMSEY -- Corinne "Connie" Ramsey, resident of Grants, NM, died Tuesday, November 22, 2005 in Albuquerque. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Grayson Ramsey of Grants; her two children, Corinne Collins and husband, Dan and Tony Grieco and wife, Pam, all of Santa Fe; grandson, Nick Grieco of Santa Fe; brothers, Norman Littleton and wife, Jackie, David Littleton and wife, Chris, Brad Kenyon and wife, Meredith Trede, and Malcolm Kenyon; stepchildren, Pete Ramsey and wife, Sandy, Nina Voigt and husband, Chuck, Kay Milton and husband, John, and Steve Ramsey; eight step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Dr. Anthony Grieco with whom she helped found Cibola General Hospital in Grants. Connie had a wonderfully optimistic spirit, and always saw the best in everyone. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. SCRIVEN -- Pearl Aline Kaufeldt Scriven, passed away after a short illness on Tuesday, November 22, 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Scriven-Wilson and husband, Matthew; son, Mark Scriven; sister, Helen Hein (Ellsworth) of Oklahoma; brother, Glendale Kaufeldt of Oklahoma; sister, Kathleen Counts (Don) of Washington; granddaughters, Jacqueline Whittle of Arizona, Amanda Wilson of Sandia Park, NM daughter-in-law, Kay Summerhays of Albuquerque; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Dale Scriven, son, J Dale Scriven, Jr, father, Carl Kaufeldt, mother, Pearl A. Kaufeldt, sisters, Wilma and Deezera, and brother, David. She was born May 26, 1930. Her father came from Hamburg, Germany through Ellis Island and homesteaded in Oklahoma near Grandfield. They became a big hard-working family who owned a large and prosperous farm and dairy. Because of this they thrived during the depression. She met Dale at OBU and married him in 1949, a union that lasted 48 years. After working at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, she got a job at Sandia Base and moved to Albuquerque in 1958. She was very intelligent and a good worker who was a high ranking civilian for 35 years and was proud to work at OAS and AFOTEC at Kirtland AFB. She was a very spirited person who was family and church oriented. She loved to travel, was involved in the Northeast Heights, Lions Club and Highland Baptist Church. She had many friends whom she charmed with wit and wonderful humor. She was an amazing cook, loved animals and adored her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by many. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2005, 11:30 a.m., at Highland Baptist Church, 417 Palomas SE. SPEAKE -- Hazel Rainbolt Speake, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, November 21, 2005 at the age of 99. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Newt L. Speake. Upon her marriage in 1951 to Newt, she became a loving wife and mother to his two daughters, Rosemary Templeton and Nita Hale. She is survived by Rosemary Templeton and husband, Joe of Farmington; their children and grandchildren, Nita Hale and husband, Don of Delta, CO; their children and grandchildren; two nieces, Jane Britain Gray and husband, Gordon of Abilene, TX, their children and grandchildren; and Pat Britain of Austin, TX and Taos. Hazel was a graduate of McMurry University in Abilene, TX, where she studied Home Economics Education and voice under Gypsy Ted Sullivan Wylie. She received her master's degree at Colorado State College and did graduate work in teacher education at Oregon State College and at Ohio State University. She was well known in New Mexico educational circles as a teacher trainer in home economics. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an Honorary Teacher's Society, and active in Regional and State Educational Associations. Her teaching career in New Mexico began in 1931, first at San Jon then Roy and in 1935 she taught at Solomon Luna High School in Los Lunas for five years, then she taught several years at Hatch. Thereafter, she taught six years at the University of Tennessee. Her marriage to Newt brought her back to Albuquerque to make a home for him and his children and grandchildren. She returned to teaching at Washington Jr. High in Albuquerque until her retirement in 1969, at which time she became a Weight Watcher lecturer, with emphasis on proper nutrition. She has been a member of Central United Methodist Church since 1935, having sung in the choir for many years. Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services honoring her life will be held Monday, November 28, 2005, 2:00 p.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave. NE. A section in the chapel has reserved seating for her former students.
