BAGGETTE -- Letha M. Baggette, 80, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Kile and husband, Richard of Albuquerque; son, Larry Baggette of Granbury, TX; granddaughters, Kelly Baggette of Ft. Collins, CO and Jill; grandsons, Bradley Kile and wife Sarahlynn of Los Angeles, CA and Christopher Kile of Albuquerque; sisters, Catherine Mosley, Sally Drinkard and husband, Everett and Ann Ray all of Bay Minette, AL; brother, Pete Thompson and wife, Ann of Enterprise, AL; in-laws, James E. DURAN -- Antonio (Tony) Duran, 90, died Saturday, November 20, 2004. A life-long resident of New Mexico and grand storyteller, Tony was a 1936 McCurdy Mission graduate. Born to Lucia and Rafael Duran in Rodarte, he is survived by his daughter, Concha Brown and husband, Raymond, Doris June Moreno and husband, Ben; sons, David and wife, Judy, and Charles; grandchildren, Claudia, Maria, Kathleen, Jessica, Rebecca, Kelly, Ariel, Heather, and Loida; great-grandchildren, AnnJeanette, Cody, Bethany, Joshua, Drake, Chamario, and Karletta; stepsister, Lena Goodheart; sisters-in-law, Teresina and Seferina, and many nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Barnes), infant daughter, Mary Margaret, grandson, Fred, sister, Soledea, brothers, Telesfor, Precopio, and Dennis, and stepbrothers Amadeo, Frank, and Avenicio Lucero. The family is grateful for the loving assistance of Meals on Wheels, Odyssey Hospice, and members of Cristo del Valle Church. ENRIGHT -- Twyla Enright RN was born on November 26, 1916 in Baxter Springs, KS. As a child, she lived in Sioux Falls, SD with her adopted Norwegian family members. A single mother raised her and her sister on a farm, during the depression. Later she attended Baxter Springs Kansas High School where she excelled academically, played on the girls' basketball team and was a cheerleader during half time. In 1938 she graduated nurse's training in Kansas City, MO under the Sisters of Charity. She married Earl Enright of Joplin, MO and they, after WWII, with their three young children moved to San Juan, NM where Ms. Enright provided volunteer healthcare for residents of rural Northern New Mexico. It is said that she provided home healthcare for Georgia O'Keeffe. Twyla and her family moved to Albuquerque where Ms. Enright nursed at the old St. Joseph Hospital and then the Veterans Hospital Operating Room where she participated in the first open heart surgical procedure in New Mexico. After twenty-five years in the OR, she retired to her beloved Albuquerque home of many years, where she continued to volunteer healthcare services. Ms. Enright also loved music and, as a child, taught herself to play the piano and the violin. She was a time-honored supporter of the Arts in New Mexico. She also loved worldwide travel wherein she traveled to China, South American, Europe, Middle East, and Canada. She and her husband loved the mountains of New Mexico where they built their own cabin, in the wilderness, at the foot of the Brazos Cliffs in Tierra Amarilla, NM. As a child, Ms. Enright made clothes for she and her sister from recycled flour bags. She subsequently became an accomplished seamstress and dress designer. During her last years, she participated in Home Healthcare Reform under the auspices of her time honored home healthcare provider, Ms. Katherine Mann. Her husband, Earl, and sister Eula Marie, preceded Ms. Enright in death. Three children survive Ms. Enright: Nancy Reynolds of Dallas, TX, Patrick Enright of Santa Ana, CA and Michael Enright of Albuquerque, NM. Mrs. Enright enjoyed seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. She would also wish to acknowledge the services of longtime friend and neighbor, Kathy Esquerra. FOSTER -- Peter H. Foster. Sadly we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Pop Pop, Dad and husband, Peter H. Foster on Nov. 20, 2004 due to untreatable cancer. Pete graduated from high school in the town of Bethlehem, NY where his class will celebrate its 50th Reunion this September. After graduating with a BS Degree in Engineering from the US Military Academy at West Point, NY in 1959, he married his high school classmate Judith Ann Miller and moved to Albuquerque. They are the parents of two daughters, Juliet Foster, of Phoenix, AZ; Christel Claunch, and husband, Scott of Highlands Ranch, CO; and two granddaughters, Sydni and Camryn Claunch. Pete built an exemplary career with DoD in USAF R&D Contracting, becoming Director of Contracts at KAFB Contracting Center and Deputy Director of DESA. In 1993, he retired from Government service with pride and became Director of Western Operations for SRC. Pete Foster was a Charter Member of the Albuquerque Chapter of the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) and held a Top Secret SCI Security Clearance. A flag was flown over the US Capitol in Peter's honor observing the 200th anniversary of the USMA. He was a dedicated supporter of his family and friends. Pete leaves a legacy of love, care and humor that will be carried in the hearts of those blessed enough to have come to know him. His Memorial Service will be held at 11:15 a.m., Monday, Nov. 29, 2004 at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave., NE with a Reception immediately following. In 1994, Pete inherited a farm in Baldwinsville, NY which has been in the family since a Revolutionary War Land Grant in 1778 and houses Civil War memorabilia from his ancestors. GARAY -- James Garay, 63, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, November 19, 2004 after a long battle with lymphoma. He is survived by his children, Eric James Garay and fiancee, Ana, Michelle Garay and Jeff Taylor, Ray Anthony Rivera of Phoenix, AZ, and Renee Rivera-Loff and husband, Vince; the mother of his children, Eva Garay; father, Jose Garay and wife, Paula; brothers, Samuel Garay and wife, Sara of Derry, NM, Joe Garay and wife, Linda of Las Cruces, NM, Billy Romero and wife, Deda of Garfield, NM, Paul Garay and wife, JoAnn of Las Cruces, NM, and John Garay and wife, Yvonne of Las Cruces, NM; sister, Bernice Villalobos and husband, Jose of Las Cruces; sister-in-law, Lucy Garay of Garfield, NM; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Romelia Garay and his brother, Saul Garay. Jim was born in Los Angeles, CA, grew up in the Hatch Valley and graduated from Hatch High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962-1964 as a MP. Jim attended Western New Mexico University in Silver City and graduated in 1971 with a BA in Accounting. While attending the University, Jim worked as a campus policeman, a guitarist and singer entertaining in night clubs and in addition pursued his love for flying and obtained his private pilot’s license. He then went to work for the FBI as a Special Agent. During his career he was assigned to San Juan, Puerto Rico and San Diego, CA and participated in many special assignments including the Battle at Wounded Knee in South Dakota. Jim finished his career in Albuquerque and retired in 1998. Jim then did consulting work in Argentina, Germany, Chile, and Cancun, Mexico. Since then, Jim enjoyed his leisure time playing golf, playing his guitar and singing, collecting classic cars, and spending time with his family and friends. Jim was a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held Sunday, November 28, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. GEISLER -- Herbert D. Geisler, 78, a resident of Albuquerque from 1963 to 1994, passed away in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas on Tuesday, November 16, 2004. He was born on April 8, 1926 in La Port, Indiana. While living in Albuquerque, he was the owner and operator of Alaskan Air Conditioning and Heating and Alaskan Service. He also served as a supervisor in the new construction division of Albuquerque Public Schools from 1974 to 1992. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Geisler. He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Dishuck, her husband, Steve, his stepson, Jim Johansen and wife, Carol, his stepdaughter, Barbara Galusha, his grandchildren, Brian Dishuck, Pamela Dishuck, Rachel Johansen, Christopher Johansen, Karen Galusha and Corey Galusha and great-granddaughter, Kayla Dishuck. GURULE -- Barbarita Gurule was born May 27, 1918 in Bosque, NM. She went to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 23, 2004 after a short illness. Barbarita was 86 years old. She was preceded in death by all six of her brothers and sisters and by her son, Raymond. Barbarita is survived by her dedicated husband of 57 years, Damacio; her loving son, Leroy and wife, Anna; daughter, Mary Ann Chavez and husband, Lenave; many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Barbarita was a friend to all, having never met a stranger. A wonderful woman of God, who never hesitated to tell others how good God was. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we know she is resting in the Arms of her Lord. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Kaseman Hospice inpatient unit. Cremation has taken place. HERRERA -- Irene G. Herrera, 84, a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2004, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her children, Rose Trujillo and husband, Mike E., Mary Jackson and husband, Andrew, Miguel Herrera and wife, Dana, all of Albuquerque, Ida May Herrera and Jimmy Joe Baca of Bosque Farms, Betty Toledo and husband, James, Dinah Herrera and husband, Leonard Chavez of Los Lunas and Harold Herrera; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Teresa Gutierrez, Cecilia Gutierrez and Bennie Trujillo; and brothers, Natividad Griego and Tony E. Griego and wife, Lucy. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Flavio Herrera on July 3, 2004; two sons, Jose Antonio and Flavio Robert Herrera; three sisters and two brothers. She was a very loving person, towards her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. LIND -- Nola Lind, 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 55 years, died Monday, November 22, 2004. She was born and raised in the Oklahoma Panhandle. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1932. She married Lloyd Lind in 1934. Nola and Lloyd worked together in the Bermerton shipyard in Washington during World War II. They moved to Albuquerque in 1948, where she worked and retired from the State Electrical Board. Nola was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. We will miss her. Nola was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd on October 31, 1997. She is survived by her son, William Lind and wife, Julie of Albuquerque; sister, Hazel McDaniel of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Clinton Lind and wife, Tammie of Corrales and Kori Heath of Peralta; and five great-grandchildren. NUANES -- Mrs. Susan Otero Nuanes, 82, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on November 22, 2004 with her loving family at her side. Mrs. Nuanes is survived by her beloved husband of sixty-three years, Mr. Romolo Nuanes; two daughters, Lucille Nuanes and husband, John Waskiewicz; Joan Nuanes and Dennis Schneider; one son, Romolo R. Nuanes and wife, Gloria; two sisters, Josephine Baca and Carmen O. Hauser; one brother, Felipe Otero and wife, Dorothy; four grandchildren, Tamara, Brian, Diana and Richard; three great-grandchildren, Chad, Ashley and Victoria; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Nuanes was a member of the Catholic Church, President of the Senior Council, Multi Cultural Senior Center for ten years, life member of the ceramics club at the Barelas Community Center; Susan was a Girl Scout leader, a Cub Scout Den Mother, Susan was always very proud that one of her Cub Scouts grew up to be State Senator Richard Romero; Susan was also honored by Congresswoman Heather Wilson as an OUTSTANDING volunteer and had numerous citations from the Governor and Mayor. She also worked as an election poll official in Bernalillo County for many years. A visitation will be Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Mrs. Gabriella Nieto. Final visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 412 Stover Ave. SW with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. by Monsignor Antonio Gonzales. ORTIZ -- Flora Q. Ortiz. On this Thanksgiving, we are eternally thankful for the love, compassion and joy that Flora Q. Ortiz brought to her family and the world, always giving freely to others. Flora passed away very peacefully on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 in Albuquerque, where she had been living with granddaughter, Deborah James Ortiz. Flora was preceded in death by her husband, J. Willie Ortiz; and her daughter, Connie Ortiz. She is survived by her son, Bobby Ortiz and his wife, Eva; brothers, Eddie Quintana and Arturo Quintana; grandchildren, Cynthia Coward, Roberta Murray, Denise Lujan, Sandra Ortiz, Geraldine Lugo, Ellie Ortiz; along with great-grandchildren and other loving members of her family, including Barbara Pacheco, Rosina Clayton, Reyes Sena, Donellia Roybal, and Reynaldo Ortiz; and Azucena Serrano, her loving friend. PETTIGREW -- Lily Elizabeth Pettigrew (86) passed away on November 22, 2004 at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after an extended illness. She was the youngest of six children born to the late Joseph Edward Pettigrew II and Edith Lillian Wannamaker Pettigrew of 1117 Cherokee Road, Florence, South Carolina. She was a graduate of Greensboro College (now UNC Greensboro) in 1940, and obtained her Masters Degree at Vanderbilt University. She worked in Washington, D.C. as a personnel supervisor in the Veteran's Administration. She later became Chief of Personnel at the Veteran's Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She retired from a very successful career with the Federal Government in 1974. She was very active in Civic clubs, and did extensive volunteer work with charitable, political, and literary groups serving in many capacities. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was devoted to her family and her heritage. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters, Edith Wannamaker Pettigrew, Frances Pettigrew Owen, and her brothers Joseph Edward Pettigrew, Jr., George Wannamaker Pettigrew, and James Alexander Pettigrew, sisters-in-law Margaret Elizabeth Ross Pettigrew, and Ruth Critcher Pettigrew. Surviving Elizabeth are nieces and nephews: Mary Frances Owen Hulberg and husband Chuck, George Wannamaker Pettigrew II and wife Linda, Joseph Edward (Ned) Pettigrew III, Gwynne Pettigrew Jeffords, Joy Pettigrew Ackerman and husband Bill, H. Timmons Pettigrew and wife Shirley, Nancy Ruth Pettigrew Robinson and husband Barry, William Edward (Bill) Pettigrew, and numerous devoted great and great-great nieces and nephews. SNYDER -- Malcolm J. Snyder, 81, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away on November 23, 2004. He was born March 24, 1923, in Jamestown, New York, to Robert James and Madge E. Snyder. As a child, he moved with his parents to Toledo, Ohio where he grew up and graduated from high school. He enrolled in the University of Toledo and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity when WW II broke out. Malcolm enlisted in the Navy and eventually served on the USS Randolph as a torpedo pilot. Surviving combat and a crash landing in the ocean, he returned to complete his finance degree. Malcolm moved to Albuquerque in 1949, earning an MBA at the University of New Mexico and working at Sandia Labs from where he retired after 36 years. Malcolm is survived by his wife of 50 years, Allene Snyder; son, Michael James Snyder of Albuquerque; daughters, Laura D. Bowman and husband, Michael M. of Albuquerque, and Teri M. Johnson and husband, Michael of Albuquerque; and four grandchildren, Byron Kroner, Cody and Troy Johnson, and Elizabeth Snyder. Malcolm’s interests included golf, his beloved cabin at Elephant Butte, watching his grandchildren play sports, and his family, which Malcolm prized more than anything. He will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial service will be held Saturday, November 27, 2004, at 1:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, in Albuquerque. WAYNE -- Flossie Wayne, 92, passed away on November 23, 2004. Flossie was born on June 28, 1912 in Otterville, MO. She lived in Albuquerque for 56 years and retired from the Albuquerque Public Schools. She is survived by her child, Nyna Buller and husband, Randy; two grandchildren, Paula Broom and husband, Brian, and Robert Buller; and one great-grandchild, Levi Broom. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert (Bill) Wayne and one great-grandchild, Ryan Buller. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park. Private services will take place at a later date.
