Atchison -- Herbert Boyd Atchison, 80, of Silver City passed away in Gila Regional Medical, Tuesday, July 9, 2002. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Bright Funeral Home. Memorial Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002 at Burro Mountain Homestead. Mr. Atchison was born April 21, 1922 in Lawrence, KS. He was the son of Robert Homer Atchison and Esther Kirk Atchison. He married Carolyn Harleen Giffin June 9, 1950. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; four daughters, Christena Bond and her husband, John of Rio Rancho, NM; Gail Kainz and her husband, Edward of Albuquerque, Sandra Clark of Los Angeles, CA, Robin Edwards and her companion, Ron Widner of Albuquerque; one son, James Atchison and his wife, Lisa of Overton, NC; brother, Russell Bern and his wife, Betty of Lake O' the Ozarks, MO; one sister, Mary Hanson and her husband, Donald of Waterloo, IA; seven grandchildren, Tyra Kai Nakai, Michael Gene Nakai, Jr., Alyse Harleen Kainz, Melissa Atchison, Brian Atchison, Justin Boyd Edwards, Jessica Rene Edwards; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter, Kimberly Atchison; and one brother, Howard Atchison. Mr. Atchison grew up in Independence, IA. He served in World War II as Pilot Liaison in the European Theater After the Service, he lived in Flagstaff, AZ. In 1972, he moved to Albuquerque and worked for Yellow Freight as a truck driver until his retirement in 1985. The family moved to Silver City in 1986 to manage the Burro Mountain Homestead. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and birdwatching. He was a 50 year member of the Silver City Elks; a 40 year member of the American Legion in Flagstaff, AZ. He was also a member of the Teamster Union in Phoenix, AZ for many years. His children's admiration for their father was filled with blessing and love from God. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 2403 San Mateo NE Suite W-14, Albuquerque, NM 88110. Bright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bennett -- Lillian Bennett, 76, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Bennett was born in Chicago, IL. She is survived by her son, Lawrence Bennett and wife, Dorothy; grandson, Christopher M. Bennett of Denver, CO; granddaughter, Sandra L. Garcia and husband, John H., of Guadalupita, NM; great-grandchildren, Amanda Lynn Garcia and John Bennett Garcia; and her faithful cocker spaniel, Gypsy. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bennett, in 1964. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2002, 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE with Reverend Francis Rath, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE.

Bennett -- Robert L. Bennett, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1969, died Thursday, July 11, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cleota Bennett of Albuquerque; sons, William P. Bennett and wife, Carolyn of Vicksburg, MS, Leo A. Bennett and wife, Gail of Naples, FL, David L. Bennett of Riverdale, MD and Robert W. Bennett of La Mirada, CA; daughter, JoAnne C. Bennett of Albuquerque; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Prudence Doxtator of Oneida, WI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, John C. Bennett. Mr. Bennett served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post 49. He was a Charter Member of Four Hills Country Club, as well as a member of the Haskell Alumni Club of New Mexico. Mr. Bennett was the former Area Director and Commissioner of the Bureau of Indian Affairs and received numerous awards in recognition for his service. Rosary will be recited Monday, July 15, 2002, at 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Services will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Monday, July 15, 2002, from 5:00 p.m. until time of rosary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Futures for Children, 9600 Tennyson St. NE, Albuquerque, NM, 87122. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE.

Burns -- Mary Ann Burns, 55, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home July 9, 2002. A longtime resident of Albuquerque, she was a proud Valley High School Graduate. Mary Ann spent her life caring for others as a nurse. She will be missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Mary Ann is survived by her sons, daughter and their families; Greg Chavez and wife Rachel, Michael Chavez and wife Denise, Shannon Lee and husband Jeffrey; grandchildren Gregory (10), Katherine (4), Taylor (4), Brandon (10 months), and brother, Kurtis Boxberger. A Memorial Service has taken place. Arrangements by Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th ST. Caybut -- Andrew Gregory Caybut Jr., age 65, and a resident of Albuquerque for the past three months died July 11, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Maria L. Caybut of Albuquerque; daughter, Maria Bachicha and husband, Robert of Albuquerque; sister, Bertha Dugas of CN; brother, John Caybut of CA; two grandchildren, Christina and Angela. Evanko -- Eric J. Evanko, 36, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Saturday, July 6, 2002. He is survived by his family including his parents, William and Margaret Evanko; siblings, Tony Evanko, LeeAnne Smith, Mark Evanko, Teresa Evanko-Bilello, Greg Evanko, Steve Evanko; and nieces, Alie Smith, Lauren Smith, Zoe Bilello and Anna Bilello. Eric was the youngest of eight children. He attended Our Lady of Annunciation School and graduated from Sandia High School in 1983. Eric was a talented musician and builder, beloved son, brother and friend to many. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE. Mass will be celebrated Monday, 10:00 a.m., at Mt. Hubbell -- Johanna O. Hubbell, 78, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, July 11, 2002. She is survived by her son, Thomas P. Hubbell and wife, Pamela of Houston, TX; daughters, Patricia A. Padilla and Madeleine Hubbell-Jenkins and husband, Robert, all of Albuquerque; four grandchildren, Christopher Baldizan and wife, Jennifer, Kimberly Baldizan, all of Las Vegas, NV, Pamela Rodriguez of Monterey, CA and Madison Hubbell of Houston, TX; two great-granddaughters, Daniella Rodriguez of Monterey, CA and Sophie Baldizan of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Josie Woodlief of Seattle, WA; brother, Richard Kozlowski of Concord, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Lucero -- Amber Marie Lucero, 21, died Wednesday, July 10, 2002. She was born April 14, 1981. Amber was a native of Albuquerque. She was attending the Aveda School of Cosmotology to accomplish her goal of becoming a cosmotologist in order to provide for herself and her beautiful daughter, Jazmine. She is survived by her one-year old daughter, Jazmine Simoné Lucero; mother, Katherine E. Lucero; step-father, Steven A. Lucero; step-brother, Andrew Lucero; father, Michael Mang and wife, Geneva; step-brother, Aaron; step-sister, Melanie; great-grandmother, Katherine Marten; maternal grandparents, Bob and Patsy Baines; paternal grandparents, Woody and Eleanor Mang; uncle and aunt, Robert and Deann Baines; cousins, Joshua, Crystal and Victoria Baines, all of Santa Fe; great-aunts and uncles, Keith and Barbara Knighton, Karen and Phil Griego and their son, Tom Marten, Keith and Jone Marten and family; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Amber was a vibrant, youthful, energetic and high-spirited young mother, who enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a caring and giving individual who touched everyone's life. Miera -- Alice G. Miera, 84, a lifetime resident of Albuquerque, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, died peacefully Wednesday, July 10, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Louis Miera of Albuquerque, they were married September 27, 1937 by Father Stoeffel who also had married Mr. Miera's parents; daughter, Anita Miera Ferm and husband, Commander Dennis W. Ferm, USN (Ret.) of Gaithersburg, MD; grandsons, Dennis W. Ferm, Jr. and wife, Maggie, Joseph N. Ferm, both of Arlington, VA and C. Anthony Ferm of Patuxent, MD; great-grandson, Dennis W."Tripper" Ferm III; brothers, Dr. Eloy R. Gutierrez and wife, Cecilia and Frank L. Gutierrez and wife, Trini, all of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Bessie Gutierrez; beloved nephews and nieces; plus numerous other relatives and friends. Alice was preceded in death by two loving brothers, Fred and Tony (Babe) Gutierrez. She was a Parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a longtime active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, where she held many offices, and was elected twice Woman of the Year. Patterson -- Doodye Maude Patterson. Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2002 at LaGrone Funeral Chapel for Doodye Maude Patterson, age 72, of Roswell who passed away on July 9, 2002 in Albuquerque. Rev. Eileen Utton of First United Methodist Church will officiate with burial at South Park Cemetery. Doodye was born December 7, 1929 to Marlin and Portia Benjamin Wilkey. They have preceded her in death. Doodye married Richard Patterson on February 18, 1956 in Albuquerque, NM. He survives her at the family home. She is also survived by her son, Stephen Patterson and wife, Cheryl of Roswell and her daughter, Cynthia Torrez and her husband, Marty also of Roswell. She had four grandchildren, Priscilla Torrez, Sara Torrez, Wayne Gluff and Curtis Gluff. Pallbearers will be Terry Edwards, Mathew Torrez, Larry Torrez, Hank Pearson, Wayne Gluff and Curtis Gluff. Villanueva -- Antonio Villanueva, age 68, and a lifelong Albuquerque resident died July 10, 2002. Survivors include his wife, Magdalene"Mida" Villanueva of the family home; daughter, Elaine Villanueva of NM; son, James Villanueva of NM; sisters, Mercedes Gallegos and husband, Eugenio of NM, Eugenio and Lourdes Encinias of NM, Mary Anaya of MT, Jane Blea and husband, Paul of CO, Sue Lopez and husband, Ramos of NM, Joanne Graham and husband, Harold of CA; brother, Raymond and wife, Epie Villanueva of NM; sister in-law, Julia Villanueva of NM; many nieces and nephews. Antonio was preceded in death by son, Jeff Villanueva; sisters, Bertha Candelaria and Pelagia Villanueva; brother, Manuel Villanueva. Antonio served in the U.S. Navy, belonged to the United Food Commercial Workers International Local #1564 and was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.
