Anderson -- Sudie Elizabeth (Rumple) Anderson, age 85, passed away Monday morning, January 7, 2002 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born December 12, 1916 in Bremond, Texas to the late Joe and Charlotte "Lottie" Rumple. Sudie is survived by three daughters, Susan and her husband, Don Wasson, Kristina E. Anderson, Amy and her husband, Don Leischman; one son, Sherman Anderson Jr.; four grandchildren, Karen Wasson, Pepper Fajans, Maggie Leischman and Taylor Leischman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Anderson. She graduated from SMU with a degree in music and she was president of Delta Gamma Sorority while at SMU. She sang and played piano on the radio in Texas before moving to Albuquerque in the late 1930s. Sudie was active in the Junior League of Albuquerque where she served as President in 1954-55 and she was talent director for the Junior League Follies. She helped establish a Cerebral Palsy Day School in Albuquerque. Sudie's family would like to thank the staff at Manor Care Camino Vista for the love and care they gave Sudie the last four years. The family would also like to thank Vista Care Hospice for their help in the last days of Sudie's life. Cremation will take place and in-lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions can be made to their choice of charities. Private services will be held at a later date. Baber -- Cameron Groom Baber, 11, a resident of Albuquerque, died on January 5, 2002. He is survived by his parents, Jerry & Cynthia Baber of the family home; one brother, Logan Baber, maternal grandparents, Margaret Vassallo and William Groom; paternal grandparents, Gerald and Barbara Baber; great-grandmother, Ina Whetstone and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Cameron was a student at an APS Family School and was in the 5th grade. He attended Calvary Chapel of Albuquerque where he was involved in the youth ministry. Cameron loved his Lord Jesus Christ. Service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2002 at 4:30 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna NE, with Pastor Alan Brooks officiating. Brandt -- Col. Joseph P. "Joe" Brandt, USAF (Retired), 68, died on Friday, January 4, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Dora K. Brandt of Albuquerque; children, Barbara Brandt of Albuquerque, Jackie Roeder and husband, Gary, of Anchorage, AK, Christine Brandt of Greenwich, CT, Michael Brandt of Albuquerque, Major Steven Brandt, USAF, and wife, Lisa, of Edwards AFB, CA and their mother Wilma J. Brandt; also stepchildren, Steve Knee and wife, Helen, of Albuquerque, Danny Knee and wife, Sarah, and Sandra Novak and husband, Mike of Albuquerque; grandchildren Alex, Steven Louis, Derek, Rachel, Stirling, Peter, Danielle, Nicholas, Amanda, Ciara, Kristiana, Jordan, Collin, and Taylor. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Parmalee Brandt and his father, Charles Scandroli. Joe served his country in the United States Air Force for 31 years. Candelaria -- Bennie Candeleria, 85, passed away to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on January 4, 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents, Santa Cruz and Aurora Baca; sister, Esther Lopez; brother, Prospero Baca; and daughter, Geraldine. She is survived by her husband, Epifiano Candelaria; son, Ralph Candeleria; and daughter, Jessie. Also surviving sister, Isabel; brother, Ernie; sisters-in-law, Mela Baca, Emma Sanchez; and brother-in-law, Roger Lamphere and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Enyart -- Eugene A. Enyart died at Fort Whipple V.A. Medical Center in Prescott, AZ on Thursday, January 3, 2002. He was 75. Gene was born on August 22, 1926 in Barrington, MI to Walter and Lucy (Wheeler) Enyart. He graduated from Michigan Technological University with a degree in geological engineering. He was self-employed as a geological consultant. Gene enjoyed philosophy, poetry, music and composing, gardening, prospecting and his CAT. Gene is survived by his wife, Esther of Prescott Valley, AZ; daughters, Alyse Gay Enyart of Albuquerque, and Erica Annamarie Enyart of Albuquerque; sons, Nathan Adlai Enyart of Albuquerque, and Walter Raleigh Enyart of Albuquerque; daughters, Evelyn Airion Enyart of Boise, ID, and Johanna Suze Enyart of Albuquerque; brother, Gerald Enyart of Converse, TX. Griego -- Marian Griego (born Maria B. Montoya) died Friday, January 4, 2002 at the Heart Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born on March 12, 1933 in Albuquerque to Espiridion and Julia Montoya, both deceased. She is survived by five children, Richard Chavez, Anna Louisa Hood and husband, Paul, Regina M. Gonzales and husband, Greg, Gregory Griego and wife, Sarah, and Eric Griego. She is also survived by one brother, Joe Montoya and wife, Mary; five sisters, Toni Benavidez and husband, Ernesto, Connie Bailey and husband, Roy, Gloria Perea, Tommie Jaramillo and husband, Telesfore, and Mary Helen Giddings and husband, John. She was grandmother to 16: Richard Chavez Jr., Gregory Griego II, Tasha Hood, Veronica Gonzales, Erica Griego, Vanessa Chavez, Amanda Hood, Sarah Gonzales, Priscilla Griego, Matthew Gonzales, Melissa Gallegos, Annette Griego, Jazmine Hood, Caroline Griego, Vanessa Griego, and Nehemiah Griego. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8th, at Sacred Heart Church at 4th and Stover S.W. A Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9 also at Sacred Heart Church. Guscott -- Ed Guscott, 55, a resident of Albuquerque since 1974, passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Kate Guscott of Albuquerque; son, Shawn Guscott and wife, Kelly, both of Albuquerque; daughter, Michelle Weitekamp and husband, Jay of Antioch, CA; father, Don Guscott of Lakewood, CO; sister, Dedee Riedel and husband, Paul of Denver, CO; and his cherished grandchildren, Joshua, Seth and Kaia. Mr. Guscott was preceded in death by his mother, Goldie Guscott. Ed was in the insurance business for 34 years. He was also a dedicated fisherman. Cremation has taken place. Hardy -- Edith Mary Hardy, 81, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past 11 years, left this life on January 6, 2002. She was born August 18, 1920 the daughter of George W. and Bertha Gibbs. She had been an accountant with the Borax Company before retiring. Gardening was her favorite pasttime. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, in 1996. She is survived by one son, Richard Whittmore and wife, Ginny and thier family of Rio Rancho; one brother, George Gibbs of Rio Rancho; and her precious dog, Freckles. Heller -- Ingeborg (Inge) Elizabeth Heller, 74, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past seven years, passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2002. She was born October 17, 1927 the daughter of Ziegfried and Francesca Bauer Hacker in Munich, Germany. She was retried from Wilson Sporting where she was a customer service manager. Inge is survived by her husband of 49 years, Richard Leo Heller of Rio Rancho; and her niece, Gabriele Leiss of Germany. Hurford -- Allen Forbes Hurford died unexpectedly on January 5, 2002. He was born April 12, 1920 in Keene, NH. With his parents, William and Hortense Hurford, he lived in eight cities throughout the Northeast. He attended high schools in Indianapolis, IN, Rocky River, OH and Mt. Lebanon, PA. After graduating from Oberlin College in 1942, he served as a weather forecaster in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He met Natalie (Lee) Dingman when he was a cadet at the weather school in Grand Rapids, MI and they were married on June 12, 1943. He earned an MS degree from Stevens Institute of Technology while working for RCA in NJ. He then served as quality control manager at RCA in Cincinnati, OH. They moved to Albuquerque in 1952 where he worked at Sandia National Labs in various engineering assignments until his retirement in 1985. He then served as a Docent at the NM Museum of Natural History & Science and volunteered as an ombudsman, visiting the residents at the West Mesa Health Care Center. Allen was a longtime member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon, and he and his wife sang in the choir for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Lee; three daughters, Cathy Jones (James) of Albuquerque, Susan Forbes (Ron Padgett) of Maumelle, AR, and Dana Cantwell (Mike), of Norman, OK.; his brother, Walter J. Hurford of Westwood, MA; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 114 Carlisle SE, on Tuesday, January 8, 2002, 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army.

Jacoby -- Mario Jesus Jacoby passed away Thursday morning January 3, 2002 at his home in Grants following a lengthy illness. He was born on the 22 of August 1973 in Quantico, VA to Francisco "Frank" A. Jacoby and Jesusita "Ruby" Chacon. He was 28. Mario Jacoby was a great father and husband. During his life he was a drummer for the well-known band, Scratch. He was a recipient of the "Who's Who in American Jr. Colleges" award for education. He is survived by his wife, Florencia Velazquez Jacoby, of the family home in Grants; one son, Damian Jacoby of Grants; one daughter, Mercedes "Merari" Jacoby of Grants; his father, Frank Jacoby and Sharon of Glorieta, NM; his mother, Ruby Jiron and David of Grants; his in-laws, Irene and Luis Velazquez of New Orleans, LA; three brothers, Phillip Jiron and Jennifer of Santa Fe, NM, Troy Charles Jacoby of Glorieta, NM and Joaquin Jiron and special friend, Felicia Sandoval of Grants; one sister, Francine Correa and Mike of Mesita, NM; maternal grandparents, Catarina Chacon of Las Vegas, NM and Annie and David Jiron of Belen, NM; paternal grandparents, Albert Jacoby of Las Vegas, NM and Richard Lopez Sr. of Glorieta, NM. Lacey -- Eugene Cochran Lacey, Jr., 58, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, January 4, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Sherrie Lacey; children, Keri and Scott Lacey; step-son, Phillip Saxon; grandson, Brett Saxon; sister, Barbara Morley and husband, Paul; niece, Lacey Ann Morley; sister-in-law, Judy Tuft and husband, Jay; nephew, Homer Mellas. Eugene was in the Army Reserve for six years. He was born and raised in Baltimore. Eugene obtained his undergraduate degree from Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland and his graduate degree from the University of Maryland. In 1983 he moved to Alaska with his job as an environmental engineer where he specialized in water, waste, hazardous waste and artic engineering. Eugene was a registered P.E. in 10 states. He was an avid fisherman and a Nittany Lions fan as well as a Terps fan. Rosary will be recited Tuesday, 7:00 p.m. at French Mortuary Westside Chapel 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW. Marks -- Alice Tudor Marks, passed away January 5, 2002, at age 85 after a series of strokes, preceded in death by her sisters Charlotte (Pat) Marks and Elizabeth (Dee) Cox of Albuquerque and Margaret MacKay of Santa Fe, NM. Born in Powell, Wyo., she had lived in New Mexico since 1940, first as a resident of Santa Fe and then in Albuquerque since 1952. Known as an accomplished landscape and portrait painter, Ms. Marks was employed for many years by Sandia Laboratory as a technical illustrator. She was a former president of the Albuquerque Historical Society and served as a volunteer for various organizations including the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center and the Albuquerque Museum. She is survived by four nephews and a niece, including Charles MacKay of St. Louis, Mo., in addition to an extended family of close friends in Albuquerque. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2002, at St. Johns Episcopal Cathedral, 318 Silver Ave SW, with the Rev. Martha Honaker officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery 700 Yale SE. Pallbearers will be Dick Trask, Dick Johnston, Bernie Fernandez, Bob Chenall, Ray Shafer and Jim Walston. Mendelsberg -- Jack Mendelsberg, age 92, a longtime resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully January 5, 2002, in Denver, CO. Patrick -- Mary Patrick, beloved wife and mother, of Los Lunas passed in her sleep Saturday, January 5, 2002. She was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa, in February 1934. Mary was preceded in death by her brother Ernest and is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Terrence "Pat" Patrick; her children, Michael King and wife, Panch, Patrick King, Jim King and wife, Sherri, Gene King, Larry King and wife, Kelly, and Jennie Phillips, all of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nicole and husband, Andy, Damian and wife, Becky, Eldon, Sabrina, Chelsea, Kelli, Joey and husband, Steve, Tammy Dawn, Amber and husband, Hugo, J.R., Tracie, Robbie, and Desiree; her great-grandchildren, Meagan, Cory, Savannah, Donavan, Johnathan, and Robbie; and her siblings, Nadine, Margie and husband, Al, Diane, Larry, Vada and husband, Tomm, and Sonya. Peralta -- Nino Peralta, 85, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, a dear father, husband, grandfather, brother and son has passed on. He waged a battle with a short illness that took him on Friday, January 4, 2002. Mr. Peralta was an employee of the city of Albuquerque for 39 years, holding the lowest badge number (Badge 41). He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mercedes Peralta of the family home; four daughters, Juanita Sierra and husband, Mike, Mercy Jaramillo and husband, Herman, Dolores Lopez and husband, Arnold and Priscilla Holtry, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Michael and wife, Sondra, and Neomi Sierra, Pete Jaramillo, Michelle Romero and husband, Francisco, Larry Lopez Sr. and wife, Karen, Danny Lopez and wife, Jalyn, Daniel, Leroy and wife, Mary Rose Holtry, Nino Holtry and wife, Paloma; great-grandchildren, Celeste and husband, Rick Payne, Audreanna Sierra, Jacquiline Romero, Larry Lopez Jr., Rebecca, Julie and Zachariah Lopez, Isaiah, Noah, Manuel, Mercedez and Tommy Kane Holtry; sister, Ophelia Elizondo of Omaha, NE; and special friend, Brenda Sears of Albuquerque. Peterson -- Charles Randolph Peterson passed the morning of January 1, 2002, after a brief illness in Waco, TX. Pete was born on July 9, 1921 in Gustine, TX on his family's farm. He attended school in nearby Lamkin was stationed in Idaho with the Army Air Force during WWII. He and Jane Reives Peterson were married and started their family in Weatherford, TX. The electrical wholesale company Pete worked for brought the family first to El Paso and then to Albuquerque where he resided from 1958 to present. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane; parents, Charles Randolph Sr. and Betty Peterson; his brother, Randolph Peterson, and sister, Delma. Survivors are his wife, Nancy of Mart, TX, where they also resided; sister, Floy of Gustine, TX; daughter, Jo Spencer of Boise, ID; sons, Chuck, Gary, and Theron of Albuquerque; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter. A Memorial Service officiated by the Very Reverend John Haverland will be held at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral Thursday, January 10, 2002 at 10:00 a.m.

Pino -- Allen C. Pino, 39, left us to be with The Lord on January 6, 2002. He was a lifelong resident of Bernalillo and was currently residing in Denver, Colo. He was a beloved son, a cherished father, a treasured brother and a wonderful friend. His incredible zest for life and sense of humor are what made him such a special person. He lived life to its fullest. His children were his ultimate joy, and his family meant the world to him. He is survived by his two beloved children, Cyndi and Steven Pino; his parents, Carlos and Sandra Pino all of Bernalillo; his brother, Richard Kevin Pino and wife, Sally of Rio Rancho; his two sisters, Denise Ortiz and Rudy Romero of Pena Blanca and Carla Hubbard and husband, David of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Nathan, Kristal and Brittany Ortiz, Elliot, Evan and Cary Hubbard, Briana and Sarah Gurule as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Saavedra -- Mr. Porfilio Saavedra, 71, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on January 4, 2002. Mr. Saavedra is survived by is four loving children, Phillip Ray Saavedra and wife, Cynthia, Maria Yvonne "Bonnie" Souleyret and husband, James, Andrea V. Saavedra and husband, Alfred and Nannette Diane Lucero and Raymond Paul Tafoya; one brother, Carlos Saavedra; eight grandchildren, Joseph, Raymond, Paul Jr., Phillip Ray Jr., Valerie, Jeremy, Dominick Joshua, Michael and Kimberly; four great-grandchildren, Amoriest, Ramon, Stephen and Michael; special friends, Margaret Jones, Mary Miller and the Lopez family; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr.Saavedra was a member of the Catholic Church and a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict. Visitation for Mr. Saavedra will be Tuesday evening in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gabriella Nieto. A final visitation will be Wednesday morning after 8:30 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, 2401 Broadway SE with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. by Father Dennis Garcia. Interment will follow at the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Jeremy Jaramillo, Dominick Tafoya, Alfred Moya, Ramon Tafoya, Raymond Paul Saavedra Jr. and Manuel Moya. Honorary pallbearer will be Phillip Ray Saavedra Sr. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd SW, in charge of the arrangements.

Updegraff -- Gerry L. Updegraff, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983, died on Saturday, January 5, 2002. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Trujillo and husband, J.D. of Colorado Springs, CO; son, Gerry L. Updegraff, Jr. and wife, Rebecca, of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Savannah, Dylan, Dakota and Ian; mother, Mimi of Roundrock, TX; sister, JoAnn Egan and husband, Dan; brother, Ross Updegraff and wife, Mary Ann; and many other family and friends including his fiancé, Georgia Reiner. Van Wagoner -- Van John "Jack" Van Wagoner, 69, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend was called home to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 5, 2002 after developing pulmonary fibrosis (a lung disease). He was born May 12, 1932 in Camden, Arkansas to C.W. and Doris Van Wagoner. He is survived by Betty, his wife of 41 years; daughters Betty Van Wagoner, Angie Schafer and husband, Steve, Cindy Salisbury and husband, Dwayne, Donna Brady and husband, Donny; three grandchildren, Michael Salisbury, and Rachel and Kevin Schafer; his brother, Bill Van Wagoner and wife, Rachael; sister, Diana Speer and husband, Dale; and brother, Bob Van Wagoner. Jack worked as a salesman for Westinghouse Electric Supply Company for 38 years, developing many lasting friendships. Retirement allowed"Captain Jack" time to enjoy the serenity of sailing and camaraderie of many at Heron Lake. Family and friends always appreciated his willingness to lend a helping hand. Having recently become a Catholic, he was very excited to receive Eucharist for the first time. We would especially like to thank the staff at Kindred Hospital for the care and comfort provided.
