Aragon -- Lloyd Rafael Aragon Sr., "The King", passed away August 1, 2001, in the line of duty. He was born September 24, 1964 in Las Vegas, NM., to Amadeo and Veronize Aragon. Lloyd was a devoted law enforcement official. He served in the Army National Guard, had been employed by the City of Grants Police Department in the K-9 unit for eight years, and spent the last eight years in the K-9 department for the New Mexico State Police. Lloyd was actively involved in coaching children's little league, football, baseball, and loved to hunt and fish. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, and he will be truly missed. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Matilda Herrera, and is survived by his wife of 14 years, Monica "Kim" Aragon; son, Lloyd Aragon Jr. (11), and Audrianna Aragon (5), all of the family home in Grants; father, Amadeo Aragon of Ilfield; mother, Veronize Aragon of Grants; sister, Melinda Aragon of Grants; brothers, Gilbert Aragon and wife, Crystal, Matthew Lopez all of Grants and Shawn Aragon of Ilfield; nieces, Veronica Aragon and Monica Vigil both of Grants; nephews, Michael Ramirez of Los Chavez, Sam Gonzales of Grants, Gilbert "Slick" Aragon Jr. of Grants; and many other loving uncles, aunts, cousins, family members and friends who loved and will always remember him. All Services will be held in the Grants High School Gymnasium. An evening Visitation was held on Thursday, August 2, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2001, with Pastor Danny Almanza officiating. Barth -- Ruby M. Patrick "Pat" Barth, August 20, 1920 - July 26, 2001. Born to Stuart and Ruby M. Patrick in her historic family town of Roslyn, Washington. She is survived by her beloved husband, Arthur"Bill" Barth of 58 years; her two children, Gary Barth and Janet Barth-Esparza to whom she devoted her life's energy and love up to her final moments. She had two grandchildren she adored, Jenna and Matthew Esparza, son-in-law, David Esparza and special family friend, Helen Hawkey. She also leaves behind her two sisters, Lillian"Abby" Coleman, Elizabeth"Libby" Sinnott, and brother-in-law, Norman Sinnott, of Fremont, CA. She loved and adored her sisters and they did her. She also leaves behind sister-in-law, Miriam Barth-Hyde and numerous nieces and nephews. She always adored her many companion dogs throughout her life, leaving behind Robbie and Lacey. In her earlier years, she was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi and enjoyed many lifelong memories of her sorority sisters. Her words in her final hours were so soft and tender, gentle and loving. She knew she would find quiet comfort as she was saying her final good-bye. Mom serenely passed on her strength by asking us to be strong. She told us to stop and smell the flowers, for this is what she would do in Heaven. Mom, God's angels came to take you and we sensed the spirit of it all as you left us for this journey. You left us knowing how much you truly loved us. Your heart and spirit will be with us for as long as we all live. We love you and will always miss you. Bonaguidi -- Richard Bonaguidi, 56, died Wednesday, August 1, 2001 after a six year struggle with cancer. He was born March 7, 1945 and resided in Albuquerque's South Valley his entire life. His parents, Ester and Giuseppi Bonaguidi preceded him in death when he was a young boy. After graduating from Rio Grande High School in 1963, Richard began a thirty-seven year career with Rodgers and Company, Incorporated having to take retirement in November 2000. Richard is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Eric and wife, Simone of Phoenix, Russell and wife, Karen of Rio Rancho, David of Albuquerque; his only daughter, Leslie Davis and husband, Farris of Bosque Farms; grandchildren, Rody, Logan, Connor, Noah, Kalebi, Gabrielle and a baby expected in the spring will miss him as well; brother, Larry Bonaguidi; mother-in-law, Margaret Blumenshine; sister-in-law, MaryJo Tennison; and two nieces; two nephews and their families. Richard Bonaguidi died as he lived, with quiet dignity, a strong work ethic and tremendous perseverance. Cohee -- Leota C. Cohee, formerly of Littleton, CO and a resident of Rio Rancho since 1991, died peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2001 at the age of 98. She was born April 26, 1903, in Chillicothe, OH. Her husband George F. Cohee predeceased her in 1981. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Robert Perkins, Rio Rancho; granddaughter, Dawn Winans and a special friend, Sue Olds, Englewood, CO; granddaughter, Joy Winans Dow and husband, Ricardo Dow y Anaya; great-granddaughters, Davetta Dow Trujillo and husband, Chris, all of Rio Rancho; Teresa Dow and fiancee, Leonard Trujillo; and Lourdes Dow, of Albuquerque. There are also six great-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, PO Box 44820, Rio Rancho, NM 87174-4820. Crossland -- Clinton Eric Crossland, A Memorial Service for Clinton Eric Crossland, 31, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas will be Saturday, August 4, 2001 at 2:30 p.m. in the LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso. Clinton died Sunday, July 29, 2001 in Pine Bluff. He was born February 8, 1970 in Albuquerque. Elliott -- Norman Charles Elliott, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years, died Monday, July 30, 2001. Mr. Elliott was born January 27, 1923 to Beatrice and Frank Elliott. He is survived by his sons, Scot J. Elliott, Steven R. Elliott and wife, Mary; daughter, Pat Jenkins and husband, Fred; daughter-in-law, Helen Elliott; and six grandchildren. Mr. Elliott was married for 49 years to Barbara May (Dozier) Elliott who preceded him death in 1993. He was also preceded in death by a son, Terry L. Elliott in 1988. Mr. Elliott served with the US Army in WWII in the Philippines and Japan. He came home to assume the management of the family grocery business in Breesport, NY, where he participated in many community activities, including the Volunteer Fire Department, coaching Little League Baseball and the Methodist Church. In 1964, Mr. Elliott moved to Albuquerque to serve and care for clients in insurance sales. Garcia -- Andy Garcia, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend went to be with our Lord on Wednesday morning August 1, 2001. "He will be greatly missed." Andy was born in Socorro, NM on May 6, 1947. His parents were T.J. and Patsy Serna. His biological father was Mathis Garcia. He spent most of his early years in Socorro and St John, Arizona. He was raised and attended schools in Belen, NM. He was a junior weight boxer in the 1960's, he won several fights and became a golden glove boxer. He then met and married the love of his life, his wife, Nila, and he began working for Bates Lumber Mill as a superintendent for 28 years. He enjoyed working for Mr. Bates until the mill shut down. He then worked for Snavely Forest Producers as a supervisor where he retired after five years because of a serious injury on the job back in 1997. He was a member of the Camino San Martin Catholic Parish, MADD, a volunteer and PTA member for Pajarito Elementary where his granddaughter planned to attended. He was always an involved parent, grandparent, and friend. He is preceded in death by his son, Patrick Garcia. He is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Nila Garcia; five children, Andy Garcia and his wife, Louise, Julie Garcia, Carla Mora and her husband, Tunney, Shawn Garcia and his wife, Angelica, and Isha Garcia; nine brothers and sisters, Jenny Rodriguez and her husband, Conrad, Mary Ann Cruz and her husband, Roy; Tony Montoya and his wife, Connie, Orlando Montoya, Archie Montoya and his wife, Roseanne, Larry Montoya; Henry Montoya and his wife, Theresa, Johnny Montoya and his wife, Rhonda and Pat Garcia; and daughter-in-law, Victoria Garcia. He is also survived by 13 wonderful and caring grandchildren; his close loving friend who he considered to be his sister, Dr. Vicky Lester. He also cherished Jim, Andrea, Jaime and Eric Lester." King -- James Leon King, 36, born February 26, 1965 in Chicago, died suddenly on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 due to complications of pneumonia. He was the son of Dr. Evelyn King and step-son of Bob Turner of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his father, Calvin Jeter of Albuquerque; brother, Ryan V. Kennedy; half-brother, Zar Horton and his two children, Zane and Jade; step-sister, Sharon Davidson and husband, Ron; step-brother, Larry Turner and wife, Karen; aunt, uncle and cousins, Bill, Carole, Amy, Stephanie and Julie Dalness of Santa Fe. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jean and John Kwasnik. Jim attended Madison Middle School and graduated from the Special Education Program at Manzano High School in 1987. He had a job selling newspapers for the Albuquerque Tribune at the train station, downtown, and the Lomas auto dealerships. Jim had many special friends who treated him very kindly: Judge Bob Thompson, Sonny Leeper, Jay Czar, Mayor Kinney, Mayor Baca, many police officers and city employees, Cecille Martinez Wexler, Sheila and Rick Czerepak and his support staff: Tanya Swanson, Roger, Mohammed, Cecille Evola, Michelle O'Sheilds, Gary Smethurst, Steve Zeffer, Deb Dalabo, Laura Davis and friends at the Tribune, the Animal Shelter and from the old neighborhood on Roma and San Juan NE. He was a sweet boy and had a great sense of humor. Jimmy touched us all in a very special way and he will be deeply missed. Lueras -- Esther P. Lueras, 74, went home to the Lord on August 1, 2001 in Albuquerque. Esther was born in Belen, NM on January 16, 1927 to the late Eufemio and Isabel Pacheco. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Monastery, St. Jude Association and Infant of Prague. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ambrosio H. Lueras; sons, Bernard and Augustine Lueras; brothers, Steve and Jose Pacheco; sisters, Carmen Garcia and Lucia Benavidez; granddaughter, Chantal Wohlford. She is survived by her sons, Joe Lueras and wife, Minda, Archie Lueras and wife, Bernadette, Paul Lueras and wife, Maria, Alex Lueras and wife, Marina, Ralph Lueras, and Dennis Lueras and wife, Connie; daughters, Guadalupe Burciaga and husband, Manuel, Cecilia Olivas and husband, Jose and Gina Lueras; brothers, Juan Pacheco and wife, Rosa and Trinidad Pacheco and wife, Eunice; sister, Lena Guillory and husband, Raymond; 15 grandsons; 13 granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. Martinez -- Desi J. Martinez, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Presbyterian Hospital after a four-month ordeal following heart surgery. He was born in Raton, NM to Salomon Martinez and Virginia Ortiz. At a young age, Desi moved to Santa Fe where he met Candy, the love of his life. He served in the US Navy in WWII and still talked about his experiences in Australia. Candy and Desi lived in California for 13 years where they managed several apartment complexes, but then returned to Albuquerque where he subsequently retired from Clifford & Co. After retirement, Desi and Candy would finish their morning chores and then run errands or head to the malls where he would sit and watch the pretty girls go by while she shopped. Until this year, they made an annual trip to Las Vegas and California. Desi was a happy man, always joking, always had a smile for everyone, and he especially loved kids. We'll miss you, Grandpa. He is survived by his beloved wife, Candy; daughter, Jean Lopez and Ernie; sons, Ernie and wife, Cindy, Joseph D. (Jos), John and wife, Renee, and Gilbert and wife, Stephanie; sons-in-law, Jake Gallegos and Gilbert DeLaCruz. Mccarthy -- Lenore S. McCarthy, 88, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 50 years, Lt. Col. Fred M. McCarthy. Lenore is survived by Col. McCarthy's nephew, Robert B. Edwards and his wife, Melinda; a grandniece, Kathleen E. Bell; grandnephews, John Robert and Christopher Whitmore, all of St. Louis, MO. She is also survived by her very special friends, Charles and Elizabeth Fleddermann and their three daughters, Lauren, Rachel, and Kathryn, all of Albuquerque, as well as many other dear friends. Lenore was a graduate of the University of Illinois and a longtime member of the American Association of University Women and of the Pan American Roundtable of Albuquerque. Mintle -- Michael P. Mintle, 47, took his last breath, with his loving family around him on July 31, 2001 and went home to be with the Lord. Michael was born October 19, 1953 in Alamosa, CO. His family moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1957 and made it home. Mrs. Richards was very active in state and local politics, being a member of the Republican Party of New Mexico and also the National Federation of Republican Women. Stratman -- Carl Henry Stratman, 85, a resident of Albuquerque, who was suffering from cancer died Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at Paloma Blanca Nursing Home. He was born on July 26, 1916 in Cleveland, OH. His parents, Henry and Katherine Stratman died in 1929 and 1982 respectively. The Stratman family moved to Albuquerque in 1922. Carl attended Saint Mary's School for 12 years and graduated in 1934. He later attended Western School for Secretaries. He served in the U.S. Army followed by a 36 year career for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 1972. In 1971, Carl married Mary Ann Domenici. He was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus for 29 years. Carl served as assistant manager for 11 years and as finance secretary for 18 years. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church for the past 27 years. Carl is survived by his wife, Mary Domenici Stratman; three sisters-in-law, Thelma Domenici, Rose Ann Hamberger and Sister Marianella Domenici S.C.; and one brother-in-law, Senator Pete V. Domenici. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Father Lewis Lambert, S.J., reciting. Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:45 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Church, 619 Copper Ave. NW, with Father Lewis Lambert, S.J., Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Pete Domenici, Jr., Nathaniel Gorence, Joseph Gorence, Martin G. Hamberger, Pete Matteucci, George Pino and Robert Wickens. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dino Barbieri, Albert Giddings, Mario Menicucci, Theodore Morelli and Joseph Palmisano. In lieu of flowers, Mary Stratman desires contributions to be made to Saint Mary's School, 224 7th St. NW, 87102 or to the UNM Cancer and Research Center, 900 Camino de Salud NE, 87131. Wood -- David Crockett Wood, Lt. Col Ret. (USAR), 84, and a 50 year resident of Albuquerque passed away in a local hospital on Sunday, July 8, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Molly V. Wood; and their children, Paul C. Wood, and Ann V. Wood both of Albuquerque; son, John O. Wood and his wife, Kathy of Vienna, VA; and beloved grandson, David O. Wood of Albuquerque; Colonel Wood's sister, Virginia Wood Clark, also survives him of St. Joseph, MO. Graveside Services including a military honor guard with the Reverend E. J. Rinaldi officiating were held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Albuquerque. Woodrow -- Christina L. Woodrow, 28, a resident of Rio Rancho passed away at home on July 26, 2001. Christina was born in Escondido, CA on August 7, 1972 to John R. and Angela G. Shattuck Woodrow II. Christina loved to take pictures and was very passionate about her cooking. She was very adventurous and enjoyed almost all outdoor activities. Chris will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. Christina was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Angela in 1996 and her aunt, Connie Hall. She is survived by her father, John Woodrow II and wife, Marilee of Springfield, Oregon; her brother, Rodney Woodrow of San Francisco, CA; her fiancé, Frank Morrell of the family home in Rio Rancho; and Frank's children, Amber and Corey; her precious Nana, Dessie Dawson and husband, Charlie of Arkansas; her grandfather, John Woodrow of Bend, OR; her aunt, Terry Descoteaux and husband, Mike of Delaware, aunt, Sandy Sallee also of Bend, OR; her uncle, Danny Shattuck; and several cousins, including her special cousin, Valerie Descoteaux; other relatives and a host of friends, especially the group at TGI Friday's.
