Arabadschi -- Michael Arabadschi, 78, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Monday, July 30, 2001. He is survived by his son, David M. Arabadschi; cousins, Mariano and Rachel Romero and Martin and Elaine Lobato and nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Stella Arabadschi on April 10, 2000, a daughter, his parents and a sister. He served in the U.S. Air Force from May 1956 to June 1962. Mr. Arabadschi was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, American Legion Post #99 and CWA union. Benjamin -- Glen Edward Benjamin, 84, a resident of New Mexico since 1958, died Monday, July 30, 2001. He is survived by his sons, Johnny Ray Benjamin and William M. (Bill) Benjamin, both of Aztec, NM; daughters, Marilyn (Suzie) Cobb and husband, Jerry and Margaret A. (Peggy) Doran and husband, John, all of Albuquerque; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Miller and husband, Frank and Jo Ella Phares and husband, Paul; and brother, Charles Benjamin, all of Garnett, KS. Mr. Benjamin was preceded in death by his son, Glennard Lee Benjamin. He worked as a plumber and a plumbing contractor. Mr. Benjamin was a member of the Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. for 60 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII in the South Pacific and Japan aboard the U.S.S. Melette. Brownfield -- John V. Brownfield, 53, lifetime Luna County Rancher died suddenly at his home in Las Cruces, NM on July 28, 2001. Memorial Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 1020 S. Granite, in Deming, NM at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2001. Cremation has taken place. John V. Brownfield was born in Las Cruces, NM on January 25, 1948. He was raised on the family ranch in Deming, NM. He graduated from New Mexico Military Institute in 1966 and New Mexico Military Institute Junior College in 1969. He continued his education at New Mexico State University, graduating with a BS in Biology/Ag Engineering in 1971. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. After leaving NMSU, John served briefly in the United States Army as a 2nd Lt. stationed in Fort Hood, TX. He returned to the family ranch in 1973 and was there until his retirement to Las Cruces in 2001. He served on many local boards such as Farmers Home Administration, U. S. Soil Conservation Service, Farmers Inc., New Mexico Military Institute Alumni Advisory Board, Sun Products, and Luna County Hospice. He was recognized as the Outstanding Conservation Rancher in the Deming Southwest Conservation District in 1982. He was a co-owner of several businesses, including Goodsight Inc. Cattle Ranch in Deming, NM, the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy in Silver City, NM, and Sun Products, Inc. of Deming. John was a member of New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and of the First United Methodist Church of Deming. John is survived by his wife, Marsha; and two sons, D. Keith Brownfield and Jesse L. Brownfield of Las Cruces; a brother, A.D. Brownfield, III of San Antonio, TX; and a sister, M. Lea Brownfield of Mesilla, NM. He was preceded in death by his father, A.D. Brownfield, Jr. and his mother, Grace L. Brownfield. Calderon -- Damas F. Calderon 77, beloved and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 31, 2001. Damas was born in Loving, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque. Damas enjoyed gardening and taking care of his lovely wife, He retired from Universal Contractors as a Heavy Equipment Operator in 1986. He was preceded in death by his parents, Natividad and Juan Calderon; two brothers, Nieves and Juan Calderon He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Albina Rubio Calderon; four daughters, Rose Ann Romero and husband, Mark, Lupe Sanchez and husband, Celso, Eva Vasquez, Emma Gallegos and husband, Tony; five sons, Juan Calderon and wife, Rita, Abel Carrasco, Juan Carrasco, Manuel Carrasco and wife, Luisa, Ruben Carrasco and wife, Mary Jane; one brother, Hilario Calderon and wife, Basilisa; one sister, Trine Rodriguez; 19 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be this evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary, where a Rosary will be recited tonight at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services are pending and will be announced. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Oscar Calderon, Gabriel Calderon, Randy Calderon, Ron Carrasco, Roderick Carrasco and Mark Romero. Cohee -- Leota C. Cohee, formerly of Littleton, CO and a resident of Rio Rancho since 1991, died peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2001 at the age of 98. She was born April 26, 1903, in Chillicothe, OH. Her husband George F. Cohee predeceased her in 1981. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary and Robert Perkins, Rio Rancho; granddaughter, Dawn Winans and a special friend, Sue Olds, Englewood, CO; granddaughter, Joy Winans Dow and husband, Ricardo Dow y Anaya; great-granddaughters, Davetta Dow Trujillo and husband, Chris, all of Rio Rancho; Teresa Dow and fiancee, Leonard Trujillo; and Lourdes Dow, of Albuquerque. There are also six great-great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 4, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Francis Episcopal Church, PO Box 44820, Rio Rancho, NM 87174-4820. The church is located in Rio Rancho at 19th Ave. and Golf Course Road. Recognizing Leota's love of music, it is suggested that contributions be made to the memorial fund for a new organ for the Church, in lieu of flowers. Contreras -- Phillip A. Contreras, 69, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, loving husband and father, died Sunday, July 29, 2001. Cordova -- Robert Harold Cordova, 66, a resident of Bernalillo, NM., died Monday at the Rio Rancho Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a lengthy illness. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, gone to be with Our Heavenly Father, will be greatly missed on this earth by his wife of 45 years, Dorcas Leyba Cordova; his children, Joyce Cordova, Evelyn Rinaldi and husband, Karl Marc, Rocky Jonathan Cordova and wife, Robin; Robert Cordova and wife, Brenda, Eleanor Gabaldon and husband, Jerome Gabaldon, Erwin Thomas ¯Tommy¯ and wife, Saiphin Cordova; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Harold, the name he and his family preferred, was born in Denver, Colorado. His siblings living in the Denver area are his surviving sisters, Inez Montoya, Sylvia Lujan, Gladys Montoya, and Emma Lopez; surviving brothers, Benny Cordova, Eugene Cordova, and Tommy Taylor. Harold was an independent contractor specializing in building golf courses throughout the world. During his career, Harold was associated in building courses with golfing greats Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Desmond Muirhead and others. He built several courses in the U.S.; others in Spain, Ireland, South Korea, Thailand, and the first golf course in the People's Republic of China. Harold enjoyed other sports, especially professional football. He was an enthusiastic supporter of athletics among the Bernalillo Youth. Harold was a lifelong, and very active member of the Apostolic Church. Church Services for Harold were held on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at Bethel Heritage Church at 7800 Holbrook NE., in Albuquerque, east on Paseo del Norte turn right on Holbrook. Cordova -- Trinnie Cordova, 85, a resident of Belen, peacefully passed away at St. Joseph Hospice unit surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 31,2001. She was a member of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church and a member of the Spanish Choir for many years. Trinnie had many accomplishments besides raising her nine children. She graduated from Beauty School, and went back to school and received her High School Diploma (which was very important to her.) She retired as Head Cook for the Belen Junior High School after ten years of dedicated service. She is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel R. Cordova in 1980; her son, Raymond Cordova in 1964; and her granddaughter, Ericka Judson. She is survived by her eight children, Rosie Montoya and her husband, Henry of Belen, Ernie Cordova and his wife, Beverly of Lake Tahoe, NV, Ruben Cordova of Belen, Dennis Cordova of Florence, AZ, Margaret Montoya and her husband, Joe of Belen, Anna Upton and her husband, Tony of Albuquerque, and Donna Bergevin and her husband, Don of Severn, MD; 17 grandchildren, Theresa Marshall, Ramona Quesenberry, Monica and Juan Cordova, Dana Cobleigh, Raymond Cordova, Lea Hicks, Tara and Christina Cordova, Jon, Corine, Chris and Cindy Cordova, Todd Montoya, Derek Judson, and Jason Cordova; 13 great-grandchildren, Scott McLain, Raven and Miles Quesenberry, Ryan, Brandon and Jillian Colbeigh, Haley and Aaron Hicks, Curtis and Shay Cordova, and Danielle, Jonathan and Christina Martinez. Elliott -- Norman Charles Elliott, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years, died Monday, July 30, 2001. Mr. Elliott was born January 27, 1923 to Beatrice and Frank Elliott. He is survived by his sons, Scot J. Elliott, Steven R. Elliott and wife, Mary; daughter, Pat Jenkins and husband, Fred; daughter-in-law, Helen Elliott; and six grandchildren. Mr. Elliott was married for 49 years to Barbara May (Dozier) Elliott who preceded him death in 1993. He was also preceded in death by a son, Terry L. Elliott in 1988. Mr. Elliott served with the US Army in WWII in the Philippines and Japan. He came home to assume the management of the family grocery business in Breesport, NY, where he participated in many community activities, including the Volunteer Fire Department, coaching Little League Baseball and the Methodist Church. In 1964, Mr. Elliott moved to Albuquerque to serve and care for clients in insurance sales. Fetherolf -- Celeste Fetherolf. Martinez -- Desi J. Martinez, a resident of Albuquerque, died Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at Presbyterian Hospital after a four-month ordeal following heart surgery. He was born in Raton, NM to Salomon Martinez and Virginia Ortiz. At a young age, Desi moved to Santa Fe where he metCandy, the love of his life. He served in the US Navy in WWII and still talked about his experiences in Australia. Candy and Desi lived in California for 13 years where they managed several apartment complexes, but then returned to Albuquerque where he subsequently retired from Clifford & Co. After retirement, Desi and Candy would finish their morning chores and then run errands or head to the malls where he would ¯sit and watch the pretty girls go by¯ while she shopped. Until this year, they made an annual trip to Las Vegas and California. Desi was a happy man, always joking, always had a smile for everyone, and he especially loved kids. He is survived by his beloved wife, Candy; daughter, Jean Lopez and Ernie; sons, Ernie and wife, Cindy, Joseph D. (Jos), John and wife, Renee, and Gilbert and wife, Stephanie; sons-in-law, Jake Gallegos and Gilbert DeLaCruz. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren who loved him very much: Richard and Cindy Lou, Donald and Amy, Garry and Tay, Larry and Lisa, and Tim and Cynthia Gallegos; Gloria, Gilbert, Thomas, and Gabriel and Darlene DeLaCruz; Herman and Ruby, Mingo, and David Garcia; June and Isauro Madrid; Nancy and James Archuleta; Jeff and Angie Martinez; and Linda and Lou Lewis; and to many to count great-grandchildren. Oliver -- William "Bill" Howard Oliver, Jr. of Longmont died Sunday, July 29, 2001 at Longmont United Hospital due to complications from an extended illness resulting from cancer. He was 41. Born on November 12, 1959, in Trenton, NJ he was the son of William H. Oliver, Sr. and Mildred M. Mangione Oliver. He married Karen Sue Koehler on September 3, 1988, in Boulder. He earned his bachelor of science degree from Rutger's University in New Brunswick, NJ and a master's degree in accounting from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Mr. Oliver formerly worked for NW Transportation Co. of Denver and as vice president of finance/controller for Westway Express Inc. of Denver. He moved to Longmont from Albuquerque in 1998. He also previously lived in Boulder. Mr. Oliver was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont and of the Colorado CPA Society. He enjoyed tennis, golf, music, hiking, biking and inline skating with his family. Survivors include his wife of Longmont; three sons, Billy Oliver, Kirk Oliver and Sam Oliver, all of Longmont; and two daughters, Emily Oliver and Lydia Oliver of Longmont; his mother of Trenton, NJ; and one sister, Barbara A. Tschoepe of Boulder. He was preceded in death by his father in 1984. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6739 South Boulder Road, Boulder. The Rev. Brian Morrow of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Longmont will be the Celebrant. Services conclude with burial in the Sacred Heart of Mary Church Cemetery. Ortega -- Helen M. Ortega, 63, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973 died, Tuesday, July 31, 2001. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa Riccio and husband, John of New York, NY and Christine Ortega and David Peterson of Rio Rancho; granddaughter, Lisa Ricco; sisters, Connie Patterson and Sherry Henriquez; brothers, Harry, Jimmy, Michael and Lawrence Madine; and her beloved dog, Casey She is preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Soto. Paulsen -- Gunnar W. "Big D" Paulsen, 73, Passed away Friday, July 27, 2001. Gunnar was a resident of Albuquerque for 38 years and moved to Huntington Beach in 1996. Gunnar was member of the Albuquerque Boat Club, Republican Party, and spent the years of retirement traveling in and around anything that had fresh or salt water. Gunnar was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 24, 1928 to Gunnar H. and Magda (Knudsen) Paulsen who immigrated to Illinois from their native Norway. Gunnar was a graduate of the University of Illinois and soon thereafter married Blanche Kubala. A son, Gunnar Phillip and a daughter, Lynda Ann were born of this union. The family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Gunnar developed and owned his own business. Blanche passed away in 1995. Jim and Jacque Scott were long-time friends of Gunnar and Blanche. After Jim's death, Jacque and Gunnar were united in marriage on February 22, 1996. Gunnar's love of the water and sailing continued when he moved to Huntington Beach. Gunnar is survived by his wife, Jacque; his son, Gunnar Phillip and daughter-in-law, Janie; his daughter, Lynda and son-in-law, Marc Tiefa; his granddaughter, Alexis Tiefa; and his sister, Anita Crippen. Cremation occurred with the Neptune Society, with his ashes being spread out at sea. A Memorial Service was held in Huntington Beach at Redeemer Luthern Church on Monday July 30, 2001. A Memorial gathering for friends of Gunnar in Albuquerque will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2001 4:00 p.m. in the home of Marc and Lynda Tiefa (Paulsen). 5304 Overlook Dr. NE. Salas -- Albino Salas Jr., 77, a resident of Bernardo, NM went on to be with our Lord on Tuesday, July 31, 2001. He was a member of the San Antonio Catholic Church in Abeytas, NM. Albino retired from the Bureau of Reclamation after 25 years of outstanding service. He also worked for the National Weather Service and the U.S. Geological Survey. He was a well-known businessman, owning and operating the Bernardo Store, which was founded by his father Alvino Salas in 1933. Albino's love for farming and ranching led him to have a small herd of cattle; all of which were named and all came running when they were called. His gardening skills were well known in the family and his zucchini grew big and sometimes too big. He shared the bounty of his garden with everyone." He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Catalina" Lena" Abeyta Salas; his daughters, Terry Barela and her husband, Eddie of Bosque Farms; Consie Gabaldon and her husband, Wilmer of Los Chavez; Sandra Sanchez and her husband, Elauterio of Adelino; Geraldann Caldwell and her husband, Robert of Las Cruces; Geraldine Muniz and her husband, Rick of Stockton, CA; his son, Andrew Salas and his wife, Martha of Bernardo; 20 grandchildren and 13 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Didio and his wife, Annie of Albuquerque; two sisters, Lola Grice and her husband, Jim of Albuquerque; and Alice Hall and her husband, Bill of San Antonio, TX. and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the San Antonio Catholic Church in Abeytas on Thursday, August 2, 2001. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at the San Antonio Catholic Church on Friday, August 3, 2001. Pallbearers will be Eddie Barela; Robert Caldwell; Wilmer Gabaldon; Nathan Pearson; Martha Salas; Carlos; Elauterio; and Louis Sanchez. Romero Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Williams -- Edwin "Ed" Williams, 83, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, August 1, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Williams of Albuquerque; sons, Michael Williams of Sacramento, CA and Kirk Williams and wife, Rosanna of Brackettville, TX; daughter, Wendy Williams of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Donna, L¯Etta, Travis, Colin, Lydia, Whitney and Gregory; and great-grandchildren, Morgan and Blake. Mr. Williams served his country during WWII in the US Navy in the South Pacific. Following the war, he was a Professor of Animal Husbandry at Colorado State University for 13 years. Mr. Williams was the General Manager at Creamland Dairies in the late ¯50s. He was a Farm & Ranch Broker for over 40 years and was still active at the time of his death. Services will be held Friday, August 3, 2001, at 1:30 p.m., in the Shelter at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Organization of your choice. Wood -- David Crockett Wood, Lt. Col Ret. (USAR), 84, and a 50 year resident of Albuquerque passed away in a local hospital on Sunday, July 8, 2001. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Molly V. Wood; and their children, Paul C. Wood, and Ann V. Wood both of Albuquerque; son, John O. Wood and his wife, Kathy of Vienna, VA; and beloved grandson, David O. Wood of Albuquerque; Colonel Wood's sister, Virginia Wood Clark, also survives him of St. Joseph, MO.
