Baxter -- Gary Wayne Baxter, 42, passed away peacefully at his home on December 11, 2000 following a long illness. He was born in Stockton, CA on August 10, 1958 to M.E. and Glenda (Bishop) Baxter. He attended Parajito Elementary, Polk Middle School and graduated from Rio Grande High School. He was self-employed as a mechanic working on small engines. Gary was preceded in death by his two brothers, Eugene and Terrence Baxter. In addition to his parents of Albuquerque, he is survived by his grandmother, Oleta Bishop also of Albuquerque. Services are pending at this time. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE is in charge of arrangements.

Beasley -- Helen Irene Beasley"Grammy Bea", 80, a resident of Albuquerque for 13 years, died Monday, December 11, 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Rust of Kansas City, MO and Marla Cox of Albuquerque; and son, Gerald Beasley Jr, of Olathe, KS and their spouses; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Helen was born in Belton, MO. She took great joy in raising her three children. Helen moved to New Mexico in 1983 where she resided in Gallup before moving to Albuquerque. Her legacy is her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Helen's focus was enjoying life with her family and friends. She did take the time to smell the roses. She will be deeply missed. Cremation has taken place. Her family invites you to join them in the celebration of Helen's life on Thursday, December 14, 2000, 1:00 p.m., at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 9500 Constitution NE. Interment of cremains will take place at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, MO at a later date. Brownlee -- Mrs. Geraldine L. (Jeri) Jones Brownlee was born in Gary, Indiana on February 10, 1940, sadly she passed December 8, 2000. Her parents, Gerald and Lucille Lowe, her husbands, Lawrence E. Jones and Wilbur Brownlee, brother, Ira C. Gate, and her son, James Mosley Jr. all preceded her in death. Jeri was a surgical Technician for 15 years at Mercy Hospital in Gary Indiana. She moved to Las Cruces, NM in 1982. In 1992 she moved to the Albuquerque area where she joined New Hope Church on February 27, 1994. She briefly worked with the New Life Ministry. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister and brother-in-law, Essie and Early Collins of Gary Indiana; step-brother, and wife, James and Shirly Jiles of Pittsburgh, PA; her sister-in-law, Lisa Cooper of Seattle, WA; her daughter, Valerie Jones of Seattle, WA; her son, Leland Jones of Omaha, NE; grandchildren, Takarra Jones, Kissiah Jones, Michael Hicks Jones; and five grandchildren from her son James Mosley, Jr.; three lifelong family friends, Dorothy Carter Miles of Gary, IN, Shelby Swope of Gary, IN, and Fanny Everette of Oklahoma City, OK; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will fondly remember her with love. Chavez -- Mrs. Helen O. Chavez died Saturday at the age of 83 in Albuquerque. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Diana Lesperance. She is survived by a son, Pat Chavez and wife, Sylvia of California; a daughter, Cecilia De La Cruz of Albuquerque; four Granddaughters, Mrs. Darlene Barraga & Husband, Mario, Mrs. Cathy Sanchez and Husband, Ray, Mrs. Janet Ruiz and husband, Ernie and Mrs. Parry Chavez; two grandsons, Tom and Brian Chavez, of California; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild. Pallbearers will be, Tom Chavez, Brian Chavez, Ernie Ruiz Jr., Roland Sanchez, Ernie Ruiz Sr. and Ray Sanchez. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at the Ascension Catholic Church. Dennis -- David Morris Dennis, Ph.D.,"Doc" of Albuquerque went home to the Lord on Sunday December 10, 2000. David was a retired professor from Western New Mexico University in Silver City, NM, an active member of the BPO Elks, Sons of the American Revolution, Mayflower Association, Mensa, World Wildlife Foundation and the National Arbor Day Foundation. David is survived by his loving wife, Mary"Abby" Norris Dennis of Albuquerque, one brother, Joseph Michael Dennis and wife, Francine Creech of Cary, North Carolina; two sons, Christian Phillip Dennis of Milan, NM and Peter Varney Ph.D. of Littleton, CO; three daughters, Tasha Mira Dennis of Albuquerque, Jolie Rene Dennis of Forgan, OK and Vicki Garcia of Dodge City, KS; eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. A visitation for Dr. David M. Lopez -- Juan Lopez, beloved husband, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away December 11, 2000 following an illness. Juan was born February 11, 1934 in Bess, NM to the home of Cysteine and Margarita Samara Lopez. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Sammy Lopez, brothers and sisters, Antonio, Lorenzo, Regina, Eva and Petra. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Florence of the family home in Santa Rosa; his children, Ana Mae Coca and husband, Nick of Las Vegas, John and Vivian Lopez of Santa Rosa, Elena Chavez and husband, Michael of Santa Rosa, Roberto (Hogan) Lopez of Santa Rosa, Christine Legorreta and husband, Jesus of Albuquerque; a special granddaughter which he raised, Janna Lopez of Las Vegas; and a special nephew Richard Lopez; his grandchildren, Joyce Chavez and Joey, Marci Coca and Maria, Francisca Chavez and Marty, Andrea Chavez and Jonathan, Tomasita Coca and Martin, Desiree Lopez, Miguel Chavez, Cele Lopez, Maria Chavez, Christian and Jessica Legorreta; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Brandon Lucero, Marcus Coca and Samuel Lujan; his brothers and sisters, Timoteo Lopez of Clovis. Lushbaugh -- Dorothy Bess Lushbaugh passed away Sunday, December 10, 2000 at her home in Oak Ridge, TN, following a lengthy illness. She was born January 24, 1920, in Okamulgee, OK. Her husband, Dr. C. C. Lushbaugh, preceded her in death. Prior to moving to Oak Ridge she worked as a Research Assistant in the Biomedical Research Group (H-4) at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, New Mexico. She leaves behind one brother, William E. Hale of Albuquerque NM; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Betty Hale of Santa Fe, NM; one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Wesley Wilcox of Normal, Ill; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Janet Lushbaugh of Brandon, MS., Bob and Karen Lushbaugh of Oak Ridge; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Gene Forbes of Knoxville; and five grandchildren, Jeff, Sarah, and Kimberly Lushbaugh of Oak Ridge, and Lee and Jacob Spencer of Brandon, MS. Maestas -- Sigfredo Maestas, 88, a lifelong resident of New Mexico, died Saturday, December 9, 2000. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Martha O. Maestas of the family home; daughter, Olivia Rivera and husband, Jerry; sons Eli Maestas and wife Eileen, all of Albuquerque, Albert Maestas and wife, Mary of Tulsa, OK; grandsons, Victor Maestas and wife, Lavon of Placitas, Gary Rivera and wife, Kate of Albuquerque, Michael Maestas and wife, Gabriella of San Francisco, CA, Thomas Maestas of Valenciennes, France; and granddaughters, Elizabethann de Leon-Maestas and Jeanine de Leon-Maestas, both of Tulsa, OK. Mr. Maestas was a lifelong educator in Northern New Mexico and Albuquerque Public Schools. He was a graduate of Menaul School. He was also a graduate of the University of Southern California and the University of New Mexico. Mr. Maestas was a teacher and a school principal and was instrumental in the building of Coronado High School in Jemez Mountain School District, Gallina, NM. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Spanish Choir. Middaugh -- Gregg A. Middaugh, 39, died on December 11, 2000 in Albuquerque, NM. For the past two years, Gregg was employed at the Hoffmantown Barber Shop with Mary and William Rodriquez. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Roger Thorp, on September 21, 2000. Myers -- Geoff (Oscar), 44, formerly of Albuquerque, was called home to be with the Lord, Friday, December 8, 2000. He is survived by his wife Angela; stepdaughters Christina Pope and husband Richard, and Katie Taylor and husband Andre; and granddaughter Nicole Taylor, all of Denver, Colorado; parents Richard and Nadynne Myers; sisters, Vicki Myers, and Jennifer Rascon and husband Carlos; two nephews, Adam and Alexander Boosey; and one niece, Ashley Boosey, all of Albuquerque. Geoff was an active member of both Promisekeepers and Coloradoans for Nebraska. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 15, 2000, 6:30 pm at Church in the City, Denver, Colorado. Nosker -- Nan M. Nosker, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1995, died on Monday, December 11, 2000. She is survived by her husband, Raymond L. Nosker; two daughters, Connie DeMotte and husband, John of Albuquerque and Jayme Proctor and husband, Gene of Houston, TX; one son, Marion Lee Rader, of White City, KS; two step-sons, Rick Nosker of Salina, KS and Danny Nosker and wife, Becky of Council Grove, KS; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Sawyer of Mercedes, CA and Ruth Horner and husband, Merle of Claremore, OK and one brother, Wayne Mallory and wife, Hazel also of Claremore, OK. Nan was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and one brother. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church in White City, KS. Nan retired from ARA food service with Emporia State College. She enjoyed cooking for everyone who stopped by to visit. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. Nan & Ray enjoyed traveling in their R.V. She enjoyed life and lived life everyday to it's fullest. Quintana -- George L. Quintana, 88, of Manzano, NM passed away on December 8, 2000 in Albuquerque, NM. George was born January 25, 1912 in Manzano, NM to Santos and Louisa Lajuenesse Quintana. He lived with his beloved grandson George Ramirez and granddaughter MaryAnn Ramirez in Manzano, NM. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 40 years. He had been actively involved as a member of the Local Labor Union Local #16 - FLI-CIO until his retirement, where he has received several medals and awards for his dedication to the Labor Movement. At the Local Union #16, he held many positions as the business manager, secretary, treasurer, and the president. He is survived by his wife, Ramona Padilla Quintana; his sons, Santos Quintana and wife, Lilly of Albuquerque, Gilbert Quintana and wife, Josie of Albuquerque, Cecilio Quintana and wife, Judy of Manzano; his daughters, Lourdes Brito and husband, Bennie of Albuquerque, Martha Ramirez and husband, Ciro of Albuquerque, Louise Mastrovito and husband, James Michael of Albuquerque, Sara Sanchez and husband, Dennis of Albuquerque, Doloroes King of Phoenix, AZ, Eloisa Corona and husband, Rudy of Albuquerque; one brother, Louis L. Quintana and wife, Elizabeth of Albuquerque; numerous neices and nephews; 30 grandchildren; 38 great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Saavedra -- Mrs. Esther R. Saavedra, 81, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on December 11, 2000. Mrs. Saavedra is the beloved wife of 61 years to Mr. Puseno J. Saavedra. She is also survived by two daughters, Hazel Sanchez and husband, Felix and Carol Leal; one sister, Ida Sanchez and husband, Cay; one brother, Phil Rivera and wife, Sally; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Saavedra was a member of the Catholic church. Pita was preceded in death by her son, Richard Seik and great-granddaughter, Marie Mitchell. She was a long time member of the Hospitality House Quilters and the New Mexico Quilters Association. She enjoyed sewing, playing games, and going to the Casinos. She will be greatly missed by all whom had the pleasure to love and know her. She always had the time to listen or comfort anyone who needed it. Smith -- Thomas D. Smith, 65, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2000, Pueblo, Colorado. Survived by his wife, Patricia, of Bountiful Utah; his children, Thomas (Carolyn) Smith Jr. of Ramona, CA, Cheryl Smith of Pueblo CO, Dale (Catherine) Smith of Centerville, UT, Mark (Cindy) Smith of San Marcos, CA, and Chad Smith of Buena Vista, CO; sisters, Colleen and Peggy. Also survived by twelve grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Smith. He was born March 7, 1935 to Dreyden and Ione Smith, in Manassa, CO. He graduated from high school in Wilcox, AZ. Tommy married Patricia Anne Michael on November 2, 1957 in Albuquerque, NM. He was employed by KOB-TV for short time. He was owner of the Tower Bar in Albuquerque for nearly 20 years. 1979 he moved to California where he established an avocado grove and a successful landscaping business. His honesty and compassion were appreciated by those that knew him. He leaves a legacy of hard work and a"can do" attitude to his children and grandchildren. Fishing and spending time at the family cabin in Vicksburg, CO were among his favorite pastimes. Tommy spent the last 1 1/2 years in the loving care of his daughter, Cheryl. Viewing will be held from 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday December 12, 2000 and prior to the Funeral Service, at French's Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. Albuquerque, NM. Van Blaricum -- Delores "Dee" Van Blaricum, 61, a resident of Albuquerque and Corrales since 1962, died with her family in New Salisbury, IN. Delores was born on February 3, 1939 in Harrison County, IN the daughter of Glenn and Annis Engleman Baker. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1957 then attended Indiana University. She received an accounting degree from Indiana Business School in Lafayette, IN. Delores was married to Lucien Van Blaricum on November 27, 1959 until his death on April 18, 1993. Delores worked for several years in accounting at the University of New Mexico. She volunteered for 18 years for the American Cancer Society and received several awards including the Teresa Lasser Award for outstanding work in Reach to Recovery. She also volunteered at the St. Joseph West Mesa Hospital. Delores had an avid interest in nature and particularly loved horseback riding in the Pecos wilderness. She also enjoyed attending the New Mexico Symphony. Delores is survived by her mother, Annis Baker; brother, Forrest Baker and his wife, Judy and their five children in Indiana; also a special niece, Rene Lummer and her husband, and two children in Santa Rosa, CA. Zamora -- Mr. Sosteno Guadalupe "Tati" Zamora, 60, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at home in the arms of his loving family on December 9, 2000.
