Montequin -- Mrs. Mercedes Isabel Montequin died Friday in Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her husband, Celestino Montequin; daughter, Edilia Montequin; and a grandson, Francois Montequin. She is survived by one daughter, Fredes Gonzalez and her husband, Isauro of Albuquerque; two sisters, Dulce Marchena of Miami, FL and Carmen Otero of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Alex Gonzalez, Ana Teresita Mora and Irma Pluemer; one great-grandchild, Gabriela Mora; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services for Mrs. Montequin were held on Monday at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Evening services were held on Sunday with Rev. Manuel Viera and Rev. Eliseo Montoya officiating. Pallbearers were Alex F. Gonzalez, Isauro Gonzalez, Vicente Fuentevilla, James Mora, Steve Pluemer, and Manuel Otero. The family of Mrs. Montequin wishes to thank all their relatives and friends who were in attendance of the Funeral services. Pacheco-Cimental -- Pacheco- Mr. Casildo Pacheco-Cimental, 87, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on August 28, 1999. Mr. Pacheco-Cimental was the beloved father of one daughter, Rosalba Escalante and husband, Leoncio. He is also survived by one sister, Callefana; three grandchildren, Rusvelina, Esmeralda and Alejandro. Mr. Pacheco-Cimental was preceded in death by his wife, Licaelia Arellano de Pacheco; two sisters, Daria and Crecenciana; and a brother and sister-in-law, Pantalion Pacheco-Cimental and Dometila. Mr. Pacheco-Cimental was a member of the Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, with visitation after 6:30 p.m. A Communion service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday morning, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW, with visitation at the church after 8:30 a.m. Deacon Enrique Padilla officiating. Interment will follow at the San Jose de Armijo Cemetery. Gabaldon Mortuary, 1000 Old Coors Rd. SW, in charge of the arrangements.

Sais -- Silverio Sais, three days shy of his 100th birthday and a lifetime resident of Los Lentes, NM, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday August 28, 1999. He was a member of San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas. Silverio was born on August 31, 1899, the son of Jose Pasqual and Aurelia Jaramillo Sais. He was a well-known farmer in the Los Lunas area and was known for his quality fruit and vegetables he sold from his farm. He was a strong activist in the pursuit of education for children. Silverio was one of the few people who had a vehicle in the community of Los Lentes and he converted his farm truck to transport children from the community to school in Los Lunas. He served on the Los Lunas Consolidated School Board for 14 years and was a member of the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Board for 18 years. During World War II he was a member of the Selective Service System for Valencia County and was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by President Harry S. Truman. Silverio also served as Precinct Chairman for his district for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Sichler Sais and his son John E. Sais. Silverio is survived by his loving children, Katherine Sais Luna, Mary Lou Tarleton and her husband, Thomas A. of Taos, NM, James R. Sais and his wife, Susan of Albuquerque, NM; daughter-in-law, Pat Freeman Sais of Salinas, CA; 12 grandchildren, Jean Jiron and her husband, Mike of Isleta; Charles Luna and his wife, Karyl of Aurora, CO; Jeffrey Sais and his wife, Becky of Santa Maria, CA; Lori Schvaneveldt and her husband, Kent of Gilbert, AZ; Scott Sais and his wife, Dolores of Laredo, TX; Jerry Sais of Lemore, CA; Marsha Green and her husband, Brent of King City, CA; Kathleen Tarleton Lerner and her husband, Frank of Albuquerque, Thomas (Tom) Tarleton and his wife, Michelle, of Santa Fe; Todd Sais of Albuquerque; Kimberly Sais of Alexandria, VA; and John Sais a student at NMSU; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sara Sais Valenzuela and Stella Phillips of Los Lunas. Silverio is also survived by many extended family and friends. A Rosary will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at the San Clement Catholic Church in Los Lunas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the San Clemente Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Terrace Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will b e Todd Sais, Bryan Jiron, Jack Tarleton, Michael Lerner, Mike Jiron, Frank Lerner, and Charles Luna. Samson -- Norberto R. Samson Jr. was born on March 3, 1946 to Norberto R. Samson and Martina G. Ramos in Angono, Philippines. His father was an anesthesiologist and his mother was a pharmacist. At an early age he showed profound interest in surgery and often accompanied his father in surgery. He was a graduate of the University of the East in Manila. Dr. Samson came to the U.S. in 1974 and graduated from Catholic Medical Center of Brooklyn and Queens in 1980 after completion of the surgical intern and residency programs. In 1981, Dr. Samson chose Tucumcari, NM to be the home of his practice. He continued to practice there until August, 1999. He was preceded in death by his father in 1974; his mother in 1989; and his two-year old son, Marty Lawrence Peterson Samson in July, 1983. Dr. Samson died Wednesday, August 25 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque. Dr. Norberto Samson is survived by his wife, Carla; son, Norberto P. Samson III; daughter, Laurie P. Samson and granddaughter, Jordyn, all of Tucumcari. Other relatives include brothers, Bobby, Butch and wife, Mariquit; sisters, Ami and husband, Nestor, Helen and husband Pepe, Nini and Ditas; nephews, Chuck, Beau, Brian, Rafael, Jon and Jay; nieces, Patti, Kendra, Nesa and Trina, all of the Philippines. Other relatives in Tucumcari include Larry and Carole Peterson, and Claude, Fran, David and Tina Peterson. Close personal friends include Susan, Randy, Kyle and Kaycee Lease and the Bonnie Frost Family, all of Tucumcari and Susan, Larry, Zachary, Joshua and Seth Adkins, all of Albuquerque. In addition, Dr. Samson left many patients that he considered family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marty Lawrence Peterson Samson Memorial Scholarship Fund of Mesa Technical College. Dr. Samson will be buried in Manila Memorial Park Cemetery, the Philippines, on Tuesday, August 31. A Rosary and Memorial service in Tucumcari will be arranged on or about September 12, with specifics pending.

Schuster -- Elizabeth Schuster, rancher, farmer, homemaker, 92. Elizabeth Rose"Betty" Schuster died August 23rd. She was born May 6, 1907 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Her interests included quilting, playing bridge, and caring for her pets. She also enjoyed socializing with her circle of close friends. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Carter, Tucson, AZ; a grandson, Tenney Carter; and her great-grandson, Mark Carter, both from Boulder, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the American Heart Association.

Smith -- Colonel Howard B. Smith (Retired), 77, died at his home August 25. He lived in Los Lunas for the past 30 years. Howard retired after serving 31 years in the United States Air Force. He was born November 29, 1921 in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; mother, Katherine; two sisters, Margaret Binning and Barbara Hursh of Wyoming. He is survived by his wife, Mary Katherine; three children, Pamela Smith of Bay City, TX, Kathy Smith of Los Lunas; son, Charles and wife, Jan; three grandchildren of Valley Mills, TX; sister, Bette Rutledge of Meridan, Wyoming; and loving nieces, nephews and friends. There will be no service. Burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the New Mexico Boy's Ranch (775 Hwy 304, Belen, New Mexico 87002) or Presbyterian Hospice of Albuquerque.

Smith -- Wanda Smith, 81, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, passed away peacefully Friday, August 27, 1999. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Randall Smith of Albuquerque; daughters, Jeanne Churchman and husband, Jim of Albuquerque and Anita Smith of Kansas City, MO; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy Gentry and James Gentry, both of Montana. Mrs. Smith was an expert doll collector for many years, enjoyed traveling and collecting antiques, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Albuquerque. We love you, and we'll miss you. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE, with Pastor Mario Parga officiating. Aragon -- Nora Hern Aragon, age 73, passed away August 29, 1999. She is survived by her loving husband, Narcisco Aragon; one son, Martin Aragon and wife, Frances; one daughter, Gertrude Baxter; one brother, Ed Hern and wife, Ella; one sister, Nellie Hern; one grandson, Steve Baxter; one great-granddaughter, Victoria Baxter. Nora was a member of the Lyons Club, and a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; she loved square dancing, fishing and croquet. Visitations will be held this afternoon, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening, 7:00 p.m., at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow afternoon, 12:00 p.m., also at the church with interment to follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charlie Hern, Jimmy Hern, Sam Garcia, Sam Hern, Norman Hern and Patrick Looney. Honorary pallbearers will be the Alameda Lyons Club. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made either to the American Heart Association or the New Mexico Diabetes Foundation.
