Barnett -- Charlotte A. Barnett, 59, a resident of Los Lunas for 18 years and formerly of Ottawa, IL, died Monday, November 1, 1999. She is survived by her son, Vernon Barnett and wife, Tammy of Los Lunas; daughters, Rebecca Stockton and husband, Leonard of Albuquerque and Deborah Postill of Gulfport, MS; five grandchildren; brother, Robert Reinhart and wife, RoseAnn of Mankato, MN; and companion, John Jojola of Isleta. Mrs. Barnett was employed by Casa Manzana in Los Lunas for the past nine years. She enjoyed painting, scrap booking, crocheting and numerous other hobbies. Mrs. Barnett will be sadly missed by her three beautiful children, John, family and friends. Memorial services will be held Friday, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Sarah Edington officiating. Graham -- Thomas Glen Graham, 74, a resident of Tierra Amarilla, NM, and former long time resident of Belen, NM, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 1999. He was a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy after 27 years of service. Thomas also worked as an Electrical Engineer with Rockwell International in Dallas, Texas. Herrera -- Fermin Herrera Sr., 72, a resident of Carneul, died Monday, November 1, 1999 at the VA Hospital after a long battle with Cancer. Mr. Herrera was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army where he received an Honorable Discharge. He served as a Private First Class with Company A 158th Battalion IRTC in the United States. He was also a veteran of the Korean War during World War II where he served as a Private First Class with Company B 501st Military Police Batallion in the West Indies serving as a Military Policeman and road a 1940 Harley Davidson Motorcycle. He received an American Theater Service Medal and Word War II Victory Medal. He was a retired truck and school bus driver. He was a member of the Holy Child Catholic Parish in Tijeras, N.M. where he served as a Eucharist minister, reader and guitar player with the choir. He also served as a monarcha and guitar player with the matachines for many years. He enjoyed singing entregas for weddings and the various parish fiestas as well as conducting wedding marches with his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro and Rosalie Herrera and his adoptive parents, Tomas and Jesuscita Gutierrez; a brother, Bernardo Herrera; a sister, Natividad Gutierrez and son-in-law, Ezequiel Herrea, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cecelia; daughters and sons, Della Herrera and Ernie Ulibarri; Magdalene/Lee Miranda; Ellen/Charles Sanchez; MaryAnne/James Lucero; Lidia/Art Baca; Sandra/Ronnie Martinez; Jeanette/Anthony Rael, Sr.; Julia Valerio and Jesus Gonzales; Fermin Jr.,/Maxine Herrera; Margaret/James Ramirez; Joe Herrera; Everard John/Denise Herrera and Kimberly/Steve Mendoza, 31 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. His brothers and sisters; Lugarda Herrera, Tomas/Barbara Herrera, Josefa Herrera, Adelicio/Erlind Herrera, Lorenzo/Joyce Herrera, Elvira Nieto, Flavia Otero, Rey/Ruth Herrera and Vicenta/Les Dresser. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 1999 at the Holy Child Catholic Church with Father John Carney officiating. He is survived by his daughter, Allyn Hughes and her daughter, Shonee Lynn Hughes of Albuquerque, two sons, John Richmond Hughes and wife, Stella Sue of Witchita Falls, TX and their children, Billy White, Tracee Joy Kennedy and husband, Shawn, Timothy Joseph Hughes and Cortnee Joy Kennedy, son, William Hughes, and wife, Penny, their children, Nichole Leigh Hughes, Casey Elizabeth Hughes and Ammaretta Constebelle Hughes all of Deep Creek, MD, E.J. Martinez -- Fred G. Martinez, 77, a resident of Albuquerque since 1953, died Saturday, October 30, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rose Rael Martinez of Albuquerque; daughters, Virginia M. Woodward and husband, Grant of Dana Point, CA and Julianne M. Leighty and husband, Michael of Ft. Worth, TX; sons, Ronald F. Martinez and wife, Suzy of Phoenix, AZ and Eugene G. Martinez and wife, Anita of Minneaopolis, MN; grandsons, Brett Woodward and Ryan Woodward, both of Dana Point, CA; and 2 granddaughters, Tamara Leighty and Megan Leighty, both of Ft. Martinez -- Mr. Alexander J. Martinez, born September 3, 1928, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on November 2. Mr. Martinez is survived by his beloved wife of 491/2 years, Muriel Martinez; two daughters, Patricia Gillespie of Honolulu, Hawaii and Phyllis Mulholan and husband, Jerell of Scottsdale, Arizona; two grandchildren Joy and Scott Mulholan, his father, John Martinez of San Francisco, California and stepfather, Amado Padilla of Albuquerque; one sister, Mary Ann Carrillo of Albuquerque and one brother, John Martinez Jr. of San Francisco, California. Mr. Martinez owned Duke City Printing before his recent retirement. He was a devoted member of the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Patten -- Rema F. Patten, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1938, died Tuesday, November 2, 1999. She is survived by her sons, Billy B. Patten and wife, Rosemary and C.C."Pat" Patten, all of Albuquerque; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Patten in 1972. Mrs. Patten was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was past member of Daughters of the Nile in which she served as a Chaplain. She gave piano lessons for many years and she loved to garden and grow her flowers. Mrs. Patten was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She always had something good to say about everybody. Peek -- Ross N. Peek passed away on October 31, 1999, in Albuquerque. He was born in Cincinnati, OH to Tommy and Rebecca Russell Peek. He was retired from the US Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Bertha Galindo of Albuquerque; his father, Tommy Peek of Cincinnati, Oh; his daughter, Alexandra Peek of Albuquerque; his sister, Patricia Peek of San Diego, CA; and his aunt, Mildred Doddy of Cincinnati, OH. He was born in Minneapolis, MN, served in the Air Force and was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base, attended UNM, employed at KOB TV, member of American Modelers Association, and Albuquerque Thunderbirds Model Air Plane Club. He was preceded in death by his mother, Beatrice Pepin. Powell -- James I. Powell, 84, a resident of Albuquerque for 82 years, passed away quietly Monday, November 1, 1999. Jim served in the US Navy during WWII as a Chief Electricians Mate. He owned J.I. Powell Company, Electrical Contractor, for over 30 years before retiring in 1979. Jim loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He dearly loved and missed his late wife,"Bert". Jim and Bertha were happily married for 42 years before she passed away in 1992. His survivors include three daughters, Susan Bobbitt and husband, Bill of Irving, TX, Deb Stark and husband, Larry of Albuquerque, and Barbara West and husband, Joe of Albuquerque; four grandsons, James Bobbitt of Irving, TX, Chris Lovato of Los Angeles, CA, Daniel Castellano and wife, Maria and David Castellano and wife, Adonica, all of Albuquerque; one step-grandson, Joseph West of Albuquerque; three great-grandchildren, Daniel Castellano, Breeana Castellano and Joel Castellano, all of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Lee Neighbors and son, Matt; sister-in-law, Lillian Klineline; dear friends, Al and Fran Jobe; lifelong friend, Charlie Hobson; and numerous friends from La Familiar Cafe. Sanchez -- Frances Marie Sanchez, 17, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died in a one car accident in Montgomery County, TX on Saturday, October 30, 1999. She is survived by her father, Wayne Sanchez; step-mother, Cindy Newman; brother, Michael Sanchez, all of Albuquerque; grandparents, Jesse and Josephine Sanchez of Bosque Farms, NM and Cathy and Buddy Morris of Albuquerque; great-grandmother, Flora Bruning of Albuquerque; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Other survivors include her mother and step-father, Tami and Greg Wolfe; sister, Brittney and brother, Ethan, all of The Woodlands, TX. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Betty Guinn. Frances attended Bosque Farms Christian Academy where she was an honor student. She was very active in the church. Frances was an outgoing person who never met a stranger. Simpson -- Lily Mae"Johnnie" Simpson, 73, a resident of Rio Rancho and a lifetime resident of New Mexico, passed away on Sunday, October 31, 1999. Lily Mae Simpson was born November 26, 1925 the daughter of Robert Grant and Mable Sally Deathridge Foster in Raton, New Mexico."Johnnie" was preceded in death by her husband J.C."Jake" Simpson in 1994. She is survived by two daughters Patricia McClain and husband Gary and Ruby Caputo and husband Paul all of Rio Rancho; two brothers, Robert Foster, Jr. and wife, Spring of Oregon, James Foster and wife, Jackie of Albuquerque; one sister, Mary Louise McKeegan of Raton; six grandchildren, Sean, Morgan, Joseph, Annette, Jason and Lisa; four great-grandchildren, Bryant, Jake, Kayla and Eric; and her faithful companion, Foxy Dude."Jonnie" was one of the most humane and caring persons to ever walk the earth. She was much loved and will be deeply missed. Sweet -- Jean Sweet, 67, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983, passed away October 30, 1999. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arthur Sweet and her beloved sister, Lois Blakeslee of California. She is survived by her son, Gregory Sweet and wife of Albuquerque; daughter, Linda Pierson, husband and grandson of Florida. Jean was born in Hartford, CT. She was a member of the Oasis Singers and the Bear Canyon Choir. She did volunteer work at the Musuem of Natural History. Jean was a golf enthusiast and thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderic of her many golfing friends. Velasquez Jr. and wife, Trinnie of Espanola; ten grandchildren, Joseph Velasquez, Paul Velasquez, Timothy Velasquez, Joshua Velasquez, Robert Velasquez, Christopher Velasquez, Joseph DeAguero Jr., Nicolette DeAguero, Naomi Velasquez, and Kayla Velasquez; and brothers and sisters, Bernie and Alfred Mendiha, Donna and Melvin Alvaro, all of Hawaii, Ellie and Lonnie Johnston of California, Nattie and Wilfred Nicolas, Irene and Allen Sandry, Richard and Prescilla Solon, Judi Solon, Robert and Lynn Solon, Randy Solon, all of Hawaii, and Gloria Jean Wirth of California. Mrs. Velasquez was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, where she was active in the choir. She enjoyed participating with the"Mall-Walkers" group at Winrock Mall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert"Bobby" Velasquez Sr. in June, 1991. Rosary will be recited Thursday, November 4, 1999, 3:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Deacon Pilar Garcia reciting. Mass will be celebrated Friday, November 5, 1999, 10:00 a.m., at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 5310 Claremont NE, with Father Johnny Lee Chavez, Celebrant. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Beyer, Chris Shuey, Harold Newlander, Don Hancock, Kevin Osegueda, and Amos Padilla. Honorary pallbearers will be Florence's seven grandsons. Walter -- Richard F. Walter, 84, departed this life on November 1, 1999 in Albuquerque, N.M. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jean Walter; daughters, Susan Walter-Linsell of Albuquerque and Julie McLeod of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren, Paul McLeod and Desiree Walter-Davis. He is remembered for his devotion to his family, he was an Air Force Veteran of WWII, a long time member of All Saint's Episcopal Church in Bayside, NY. He was active in the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite and the Shrine Temple in New York City. Watson -- Nona Watson (Winona Joy Corley), 67, a retired educator and counselor, died October 29, 1999, in Escondido, California. Nona worked for more than 20 years with the Bloomfield School District in Bloomfield, New Mexico. She was born November 19, 1931, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Survivors include her husband, Cliff; ex-husband, Lee, sons; Danny, Joe, and Tim; daughter, Cricket (Ann); and six grandchildren, Toby, Samantha, Jessie, Kimiyo, Joey, and Jeremiah. A tribute will be held Saturday, November 6, 1999, 2:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Belen, New Mexico.
