Brown -- Arvin L (Brownie) Brown, 83, a resident of Albuquerque since 1949, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ethel E. Brown of Albuquerque; daughter, Mary E. Swinney and husband, Donald of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Tammy Branch and husband, Ed of Albuquerque, Joseph E. Brown, Jr. of Los Alamos, Sherry L. Wulf of Albuquerque, Barbara D. Straub and husband, Gerhard of Sonoma, CA, and Linda J. Crider and husband, Eric of Spokane, WA; great-grandchildren, Daniel Engler of Las Cruces, Jordan Wulf of Albuquerque, and Joshua Branch of Albuquerque; sister, Elizabeth Curtner and husband, Richard of Elephant Butte; brother, Granvel Brown of Dayton, OH and Gilbert Brown and wife, Pat of Newport, FL; and daughters-in-law, Karen R. Brown -- Pauline Brown, 78, a resident of New Mexico since 1950 and of Albuquerque since 1957, passed away on Monday, July 26, 1999. Pauline was born May 15, 1921, the daughter of John and Pauline Keller Bareither in Snohomish, Washington. She had been a dental assistant until she retired. Pauline is survived by her husband, Glendon W. Brown of Albuquerque; sister, Bertha White of Albuquerque; niece, Arlene Rummel; and sister-in-law, Bertha Dietrich, both of Sacramento, CA; nephew, Ronald Reynolds of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Georgia Shook of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, June Shafer of Orlando, FL. The service for Pauline will be held on Friday, July 30, 1999, 11:00 a.m., at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Rio Rancho, corner of Unser and Abrazo, with Pastor L.K. Hagen officiating. Interment will be at the National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be Louis Lencioni, Lewis Moore, Robert D'Lamater, Ron Reynolds. Carpenter -- Kenneth Stewart Carpenter, age 54, passed away on July 23, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Albuquerque; son, Erik and his wife, Kristina of West Palm Beach, FL; daughter, Alija Carpenter of Albuquerque; mother, Lola Carpenter of Florida; brother, Doug and his wife, Debbie of Alaska; and his canine companion, Valia. Kenneth was a very devoted husband, father and friend. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. His passions were in motorcycles. Kenneth loved to fly fish. He was also involved with radio control airplanes and helicopters. Employed by Calvin Scott of Albuquerque as General Manager. He graduated from Pennsylvania Military College in Chester, Pennsylvania, now known as Widener College. Services will be held Saturday, July 31, 1999, 11:00 a.m., at the Chapel of Rio Rancho Funeral Home with The Reverend Peter Denlea officiating. Crepeau -- Eugene G. Crepeau, a resident of Albuquerque since January of 1965, passed away on Monday, July 26, 1999. He was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church. He was the past President of the Albuquerque Men's Bowling league and a member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society. He served in the United States Air Force for 26 years, retiring as a CMSgt. He tirelessly loved his family and in reaching out to others, he never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by three grandchildren. Debusk -- Robert Michael DeBusk September 1, 1989 - July 25, 1999The son of Mike and Christy, and brother to Jessie, went to be with the Lord following an accident. Robby was a gold honor roll student at Acoma Elementary, he loved football, baseball and time spent with family. He had a heart of gold and was a shining star in all of our lives. We will miss him dearly. He was the grandson of Dale, Laura, Juanita and William Bowen, Krysia, Rubee and Stanley Hipwood, Edith and Ray Brafford, Bob, Ellen, and Frank DeBusk. Hippie -- Nell Louise Clayton Hippie passed away peacefully at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque on July 25, 1999. She was born on September 17, 1922, the daughter of the late Murphy and Effie Clayton of Bogahusa, Louisiana. Nell was a 1940 graduate of Mobile, Alabama. She began her nursing career in Littlefield, Texas, spending her free time on a ranch in Fort Summer, New Mexico. She went on to Cooke Country Hospital in Chicago, Illinois for further training as a nurse anesthetist before serving for nine months in the Navy during World War II. Nell was stationed in San Diego where she met and married her husband of 54 years, Ken Hippie (after only 3 dates) in July, 1945. Nell is survived by her husband, Kenneth; their four daughters and their spouses, Jane and Russ Reilly of Middlebury, VT, Barbara and Keith Mansfield and Bosque Farms, Patti and Randy White of Albuquerque and Pamela and Paul Hendershott of Boulder, CO; and her ten grandchildren, Jennifer, Jody and Lindsay Reilly, Morgan, Lillie and Clayton Mansfield, Kate and Justin White and Melissa and Brad Hendershott. Nell is also survived by a sister, June Clayton of Franklinton, Louisiana. She was predeceased by a sister, Elaine Foil; and brother, Murphy Jay Clayton. Ken was a pilot for TWA for 32 years and during that time they lived in Kansas City, Kansas, Levittown, NY, Huntington, NY and Fairfield, CT. They retired to Albuquerque in 1978. Nell was active in the Cosmopolitan Club and was a devoted volunteer at various hospitals in the communities in which they lived. Those friends wishing to celebrate Nell's life may join the family at a memorial service to be held Saturday, July 31, 10:00 a.m., at All Saint's Lutheran Church, at Paseo del Norte on Coors. Hoke -- Major Franklin E. Hoke, USAF (Retired), 82, passed away Tuesday, July 27, 1999. He leaves behind a legacy of his wife of 49 years, Toyoko of Albuquerque; three sons, Stephen E. Hoke and his wife, Joanne of Hinesburg, VT, Lt. Col. Franklin E. Hoke Jr., USAF of Rome, NY, and Richard T. Hoke and his wife, Dolores of Albuquerque; one daughter, Joanne of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren, Michael of Clearwater, FL, Jean Marie of Wilmington, DE, Alicia and Tiffany, both of Rome, NY, Charity of Los Lunas, and Ellisa, and Adam, both of Albuquerque; two great-grandchildren, Heather of Clearwater, FL and Joslyn of Los Lunas; two nephews, Larry of Oregon and John of Connecticut; and one niece, Dawn of Clinton, NY. Prior to retiring and moving to Albuquerque in 1993, Major Hoke was the Westampton Tax Collector for the State of New Jersey. Prior to this position, Major Hoke served as the General Manager of Interstate Storage and Pipeline Corporation in Jacksonville, NJ. He retired from the U.S. Air Force with 23 years of service to his country, serving in WWII and the Korean War. Major Hoke will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Graveside services with military honors will be held Friday, 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery, with Chaplain Major Jeffrey A. James, USAF officiating. Kelley -- Patrick John Kelley went to be with the Lord on July 24, 1999 at the age of 61 after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Kelley, his wife, Nancy Williams; five daughters by marriage, Debbie Reinhart, Gina Studer, Lori Berger, Kathy Abrams, Sam Champion and John Bentz, whom he considered a son, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. Pat grew up in Albuquerque and was a loving husband and father whom was a patriot at heart and a lifelong member of the NRA. Marquez -- Florencio Marquez, 71, a beloved father, grandfather, companion, brother and friend was called home to be with the Lord Tuesday, July 27, 1999 in Palm Springs, CA. Florencio was born in Marquez, NM; he was a well-known hair stylist and make-up artist for many years, established his shop on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, CA in April 1963; he quickly drew patrons from the motion picture and television industries; over the past 36 years his clientele included many male models, along with actors and business executives. Florencio, a former United States Marine, was a member of the Sierra Club and a long-time devoted member of the Miraole Mile Lions Club; an active hiker and horse rider; he was his horse stabled on his property. He leaves his companion of many years, Carolyne Hawley; his loving daughter, Loretta Nesting-Glass of Yuba City, CA; two precious grandsons, Wesley and Matthew Nesting; three brothers, Alex Marquez, Leo Marquez both of Albuquerque, Toby Marquez of North Hollywood, CA; and two sisters, Virginia Chavez and husband, Paul of Albuquerque and Lolita LeBlanc and husband, Billy of Erath, LA; and a host of friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Mohler -- Fern Skousen Mohler, a resident of Albuquerque for 60 years, passed away on Monday, July 26, 1999. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for over 60 years. She is survived by her three sons, Charles Dale Mohler and wife, Edwina of Grantsville, UT, Larry D. Mohler of Las Vegas, NV, Jerry D. Mohler and wife, Vivian of Albuquerque; three sisters, May Oates of Arizona, Velva Lapin of Arizona, Beulah Brady of Arizona; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Fern was a devoted, wonderful, loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She loved her church, many friends and family, and was an active member of her church. She had been a Primary Counselor, teacher, relief society, work counselor, work director, quilt director, as well as head of many other positions. Mark King will officiate at her services. Pallbearers will be Terry Mohler, Charlie Mohler, Duane Walker, Ricky Black, Tom DuBois, David Steffenson and John Skousen. Rogers -- JoAnn Rogers, 72, a resident of Corrales, formerly of Los Alamos, passed away Sunday, July 25, 1999. She was born in San Fernando, CA on August 10, 1926. She received her B.A. degree in Education from the University of Arizona and was a teacher in Bakersfield, CA, Tucson, AZ, and for 22 years in Los Alamos Public Schools. She was a longtime member of Delta Kappa Gamma. JoAnn was a devoted mother, aunt and friend. Her faith in God was an important part of her life. She had been a member of Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church in Los Alamos, and more recently, was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rio Rancho. During the past 13 years in Corrales, she was a volunteer for Right to Read, Storehouse West, St. Martin's, and the Corrales Library. She had traveled widely, including a recent cruise to Alaska. JoAnn had a lifelong passion for gardening and a keen interest in literature and the arts. In her later years, she had taken up oil painting. Her son, Scott; sister and brother-in-law; and parents preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Canzona and husband, Tony of Greeley, CO; her special niece, Deanna Forster and husband, Arthur of Los Alamos; their sons, Michael Forster and his wife, Hether of Albuquerque and David Forster and wife, Laura of Los Alamos; her nephew, Doug Toews and wife, Pam of Oregon and their son, Justin Toews, wife, Goldie, and their daughter, Julia Jocelyn of California; as well as many treasured friends. Memorial donations may be made to the R. Scott Rogers Memorial Fund, UNM Dept. of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, Albuquerque, NM 87131. Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 29, at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rio Rancho, and also on Thursday, 3:00 p.m., at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church in Los Alamos. Strawmyer -- Lula B. Strawmyer, age 98, passed away quietly July 28, 1999. She was born in Russiaville, IN, on May 1, 1901, and was preceded in death by her husband, Alva H. Strawmyer. She and her husband moved to Albuquerque from Washington, D.C. after her husband's retirement in 1954. Both had been very active in Masonic and Shrine activities in Washington, D.C. She had been a resident of Manzano Del Sol since it opened in 1980. She is survived by a nephew, James T. Thompson and his wife, Corinne of Albuquerque; a niece, Helen Baker and her husband, Lawrence of Indianapolis, IN. At her request, no services will be held.
