Baker -- Jeanne Baker (born in Rogers, Arkansas, March 21, 1924) died February 27, 1999 in Albuquerque due to pulmonary thrombosis after a lengthy illness. She was a restauranteur from Las Vegas, NV, who owned and operated Mingus Mountain Inn near Prescott, AZ until 1980. She was a personal friend of Sam Rayburn, former Speakers of the House, the late President John F. Kennedy, the Jacob Viarrial Family and Pueblo of Pojoaque Tribal Members. She was a political and Indian activist for Human Rights, mingling with movie stars, artists and a correspondent with Dr. Albert Switzer. Jeanne moved to Arroyo Seco, NM in 1981 and founded and served as the director of"The Turn Around" a nonprofit organization providing training and jobs to the unskilled. Her husband, Jimmie O. Baker and son, Charles M. Baker preceded her in death. She is survived by daughter, Sharon M. Conser, Catholic Lay Medical Missionary, Vancouver, WA; son-in-law Robert Conser; granddaughter Kristiann Dienstbier, Marysek International Peace Fellow: grandsons, M. Scott Dienstbier, Mark Dienstbier, Charles M. Baker; two great-grandchildren Justin Baker and Annalise Dienstbier. Remains will be taken to Los Gatos, CA and interment will take place on Monday, March 15, 1999. A Memorial Mass will be held on March 16, 1999 at 6:00 p.m. at the Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Church (Juan Diego Chapel) at Pojoaque, NM.

Bohannan -- Ann Mulcahy Bohannan passed away in Albuquerque on March 3, 1999 after a long battle with lung disease. She was born in Albuquerque in 1932 to H.I."Iggy" Mulcahy and Marcella Reidy Mulcahy. She was a graduate of Albuquerque High School and the University of New Mexico. Ann lived many years in Northern New Mexico, served on the Red River Town Council, and taught school in Questa and later in Eagle Nest. She enjoyed summers tending bar. She is survived by her son, R.P. Bohannan and his wife, Jo Tabacchi and their two sons, Jack and Will, all of Albuquerque; by her daughter, Beje Bohannan and Kirk Langford of Eden, UT; by her brother, Jack Mulcahy and wife, Diane of Albuquerque; and 17 nieces and nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Nita Etcheverry; and step-mother, Effie Newman Mulcahy. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 1999 at Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE. At Ann's request, at a later date, family and friends will be invited to gather at the Laguna Vista in Eagle Nest in celebration of Ann's life in the pines. Her ashes will then be scattered at Elizabeth Town, New Mexico. Byrne -- Danny Jerry Byrne, age 50, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999 after a long illness. He was a resident of Albuquerque for 22 years and was employed by TVI as it's first webmaster. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Betsy; daughters, Molly Byrne and Elizabeth Rose, both of Albuquerque; sons, Timothy E. Byrne, James G. Byrne, both of Albuquerque, and Johnny Byrne of Michigan; grandchildren, Christy James and Jesse Jerry James; brother, John Byrne of Flatrock, MI; and sister, Kathy Humphreys of Mighigan. Mr. Byrne worked at General Electric in the early 80's where he was a member of the Machinists Union. Mr. Byrne was also the founder and President of Academy Computers in 1983. Rosary will be recited Friday, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Deacon Bob Lewis reciting. Chase -- George Chase, 83, a former Albuquerque resident, died February 22, at Ft. Bayard Medical Center from Alzheimer's and heart disease. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive. He was born in Ohio on February 25, 1916 to the late Charles Long Chase and Lyda Allison Preston. Mr. Chase began his civil service career at Sandia Base in 1949. As a civilian employee of the Air Force, he was assigned to Joliet Arsenal in Illinois; Hanscom AFB in Massachusetts; and Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. After retirement, in 1972, the Chases returned to Albuquerque. Before his illness with Alzheimer's, Mr. Chase was active in Asbury United Methodist Church and AARP. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise Duffie of Newport News, VA and Evelyn Staus of St. Paul, MN; five granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and his wife, Marlene. Memorials can be sent to the Alzheimer's Foundation, NM Chapter, P.O. Box 8766, Albuquerque, NM 87198-8766. No services have been planned, cremation has taken place by Baca's Mimbres Crematory.

Chavez -- George M. Chavez, 88, beloved brother and uncle, was called home to be with the Lord, Thursday, March 4, 1999. Mr. Chavez was a resident of Bernalillo, he was born on August 4, 1910 in Bernalillo; he was employed for 43 years at New Mexico Timber Co.; he was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church for 25 years and a dear friend to all. He was recently preceded in death by two sisters, Jesusita Wiggins and Margaret Torrez; also preceded in death are his parents, Juan Chavez and Adelaida Mondragon; four brothers, Guadalupe Chavez, Jose Salomon Chavez, Adolfo Chavez, Jose Conrado Chavez; two sisters, Beatriz Chavez and Maria Jesusita Chavez. Mr. Chavez is survived by four nephews, Conrad Torrez, Fred Torrez and wife, Grace, Johnny Torrez and wife, Maria Garcia, Anthony Torrez and wife, Bertha; one niece, Adelaida Valdez and Greg Pena; four grandnephews; six grandnieces; 15 great-grandnephews and nieces; and five great-great-grandnephews and nieces. He will be greatly missed by his loving family. A Rosary will be recited tonight at 7:00 p.m. at the chapel of Alameda Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church, Saturday, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Cemetery. Erdman -- Albert Erdman, 53, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, March 4, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Helen Erdman of Albuquerque; daughter, Lynn Kohobeck and husband, Joe of Wisconsin; son, Tony Erdman of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Steven, Amy and Andrea; mother, Gail Erdman; and sister, Elizabeth Austin and husband, Clyde, all of Illinois; brother, Dennis Erdman of Minnesota; and many other family and friends. One of founding members of the Wisconsin Paralyzed Veterans of America, where he was a life member of the New Mexico PVA as well. He was very active in legislation for the handicapped. Goldbloom -- Dr. Theodore Joshua Goldbloom, 66, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 2, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shelley Goldbloom (Sperling); daughters, Deborah Goldbloom, Ingrid Goldbloom-Bloch, Stefanie Goldbloom; son-in-law, Dr. William Goldbloom-Bloch; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Charles Richlen; and numerous other beloved relatives, friends and his cherished pets. Josh (a.k.a. Teddy) was born January 5, 1933 in Vancouver, B.C., Canada to the late Tevye and Anne Goldbloom (Stark). After graduating from the University of British Columbia Medical School in 1957, he completed his advanced medical training at Duke University Medical School prior to moving with his family to Albuquerque, where they lived for many years before moving to La Crosse, Wisconsin and most recently Corbin, Kentucky, where Josh continued his ongoing distinguished and compassionate medical practice in Psychiatry. His zest for life was not hampered by childhood polio or living with cancer for most of his adult life and he was an inspiration for those who knew him. He was an avid swimmer, outdoorsman and animal lover who loved backpacking, fishing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking. He was a skilled craftsman, woodworker, photographer and artist who took great pleasure working with his hands. His ability to find joy in simplicity, his wonderful wit and his kind and loving heart touched numerous people and he will be greatly missed. The family will received friends at the Corbin Funeral Home on Saturday, March 5, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter or charity of your choice. Gutierrez-Rodriguez -- Gutierrez- Mrs. Vanessa Yvette Gutierrez-Rodriguez died Wednesday in Albuquerque at the age of 17. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Marcos Estevan who died three days before. Vanessa is survived by her husband, Julian E. Rodriguez; her parents, Steve L. and Jo Ann Gutierrez; brother, Dominic Baca, all of Los Lunas; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Torres; and niece, Nesa Chavez, all of Albuquerque. Merrill -- PROVIDENCE: Roy Herbert Merrill, 85, a former resident of Albuquerque of many, many years, died of a sudden heart attack in Mesa, Arizona, February 27, 1999. He was born March 14, 1913 to Edgar and Pearl Smith Merrill in Chandler, Arizona. On November 4, 1936, he married Floyle Palmer in the Mesa, Arizona L.D.S. Temple. She preceded him in death on August 2, 1994. Roy was a driver for Continental Trailways Bus Lines and Navajo Freight Lines. He was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include three daughters, Jacquelyn (Bill) Leseberg of Boise, Idaho, Karen (Gordon) Hughes of Shelley, Idaho, Janis (Rick) Hughes of Providence, Utah; one son, Markus (Barbara) Merrill of Olathe, Kansas, and daughter-in-law, Coral Merril (Danny) Oram of West Point, Utah; 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William B. Merril of Mesa, Arizona, and Steve (Pencie) Merril of Sepulvada, California; two sisters, Belva Slade and Irma (Jay) Smith all of Mesa, Arizona, and all of his many friends and neighbors in Chandler here he lived in the trailer park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Floyle, a son, John Clifford Merril, a grandson, Jim Leseberg, his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Private family services will be held Friday, March 5, 1999 and burial will be in the Rupert, Idaho Cemetery next to his wife. Arrangements are under the direction of Cranney Mortuary, Logan, Utah.

Oglesby -- William L. Oglesby, 86, a resident of Albuquerque since 1941, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Maxine Doty Oglesby of Albuquerque; daughters, Betty Lear and husband, Justin of San Diego, CA, Peggy Fachan and husband, Paul, Janet Dickens and husband, Randolph and Pattye Younts and husband, Bill, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jennifer and Robyn Lear, Heath and Nick Dickens, and Lucas Younts; nieces, Mable Gilbert and Bette Henslee, both of Charleston, SC. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Anne Pike and Ruth Branson. Mr. Oglesby retired from the U.S.A.F. at Kirtland Air Force Base after 30 years of service. He was also retired from First National Bank as Assistant Vice-President after 15 years. Mr. Oglesby loved to golf and during his lifetime he had made 4 holes-in-one. Mr. Oglesby also loved to garden and his largest tomato was 17 1/2 inches in circumference. He enjoyed sharing the fruits of his garden with family and neighbors. Platero -- Mr. Chester Platero died Sunday in Albuquerque at the age of 58. Porter -- Myrle Chapin Hamm/Porter, born September 11, 1900, died Friday, February 26, 1999, at the age of 98. She is survived by a niece, Sally Kleeman of Illinois; two cousins, Ruth Shelton of Albuquerque and Millie Chapin of Illinois; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several step grandchildren. Myrle was preceded in death by her first husband, Leslie Hamm in 1972; and by her second husband, Wade Porter in 1994. She was a professional woman for many years, working for the State of Illinois. Myrle loved her church and enjoyed her many friends. She was especially proud of her family's heritage, tracing back to "Deacon" Samuel Chapin, who was born in England, migrated to America in 1635, and helped establish what is now known as Springfield, MA in 1636. Myrle loved sacred music and actively attended her church well into her 95th year. She was a member of Monte Vista Christian Church. Memorial services will be held Friday, 1:30 p.m., in the Chapel of Monte Vista Christian Church, 3501 Campus Blvd. NE, with the Rev. Glenn W. Ricketts and the Rev. Fred W. Dorisse officiating. Quinn -- Ruth Quinn, born April 19, 1900, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 1, 1999, after a long full life. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Robert Fay Quinn; and by her beloved children, Robert Quinn and Lois Brunsman. She is survived by her children, Janet Cox of Tijeras, NM and Roger Quinn of Cincinnati, OH; as well as by 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her love of life, music and family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 5, 11:00 a.m., at the Unitarian Church which is located at 3701 Carlisle Blvd. NE. Torrez -- Mary Ann Martinez Torrez, 50, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, was called home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, March 3, 1999. Mrs. Torrez was a resident of Albuquerque, she was born March 8, 1948 in Albuqueqrue. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Felicita Martinez. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Torrez Sr.; her three sons, Charles Torrez Jr. and wife, Bernadette, Julian Torrez and wife, Luann, and Eric Torrez; her two daughters, Rose Chavez and husband, Rick, and Crystal Torrez; seven grandchildren, Brittany, Andre, Ricky, Patrick, Charles III, Desiree, and Matthew; seven brothers, Pete Martinez and Bertha, Benny Martinez and wife, Alice, Joe E. Martinez, John Martinez, Carlos Martinez, Gilbert Martinez and wife, Albita, Rudy Martinez and wife, Eillen; two sisters, Odelia Torrez and husband, Felix Torrez Jr., Joann Trujillo and husband, Tino; 28 nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and one uncle, Albert Martinez, all of Albuquerque. Mary Ann was a very special lady. She loved her grandchildren very very much. She will be missed very much. Friends may visit today, from 3:00 p.m. to5:00 p.m., in the chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited this evening, 7:30 p.m., at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, also at the church, time to be announced. Interment will follow at the Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. White -- Roger Hartley White, 80, died peacefully in his son's home in Albuquerque on March 4, 1999. He was born to Philip Trumbull White and Gladys McNairy White on February 17, 1919. He grew up in Ohio and Illinois, graduated from Western Reserve Academy, and then Stanford University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He married Katharine Wheeler Barnes in 1943 and almost immediately thereafter was recruited to Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory to help with the Manhattan Project. He retired from Los Alamos in 1977. He and his wife had three children, Roger Jr., Barbara and Susan. He was active in Explorer Scouts, and in the La Cueva, New Mexico Volunteer Fire Department. He had a lifelong passion for American railroading. He is survived by his sister, Frances Field of Lebanon, NH; his wife, Katharine B. White of Santa Fe; his son, Roger H. White Jr. and wife, Linda of Albuquerque; and his grandchildren, Tony White of Easthampton, MA, Steve White of Corvallis, OR and Allison White of Albuquerque. A private memorial gathering will be planned by his family. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in his honor to Wheels Museum, P.O.
