Asselmeier -- Annabelle Price Asselmeier, a 38 year resident of Albuquerque, died on Thursday, October 8, 1998. She was born on April 5, 1928 in Holidaysburg, PA. She is survived by her husband, Allen E. Asselmeier; her daughters, Candy Shannon of Springtown, TX, Gayle Asselmeier and Kathy Dailey of Rio Rancho; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Baca -- Amalia Baca, 87, a resident of Veguita, NM, passed away on October 8, 1998. She was a member of San Juan Catholic Church in Veguita. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Evaristo and Luisa Baca; three brothers, Cristobal, Domingo, and Boleslo Baca; one foster sister, Anuncia Chavez. She is survived by one brother, Berada Baca of Veguita; one sister, Mary B. Sanchez and her husband, Felix of Belen; two nieces and two nephews who she raised, Dolores and her husband, Benny Cruz, Gilbert and his wife, Betty Baca, Lilly Baca, Paul and his wife, Melinda Baca. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews who she loved very much. She made her home with her niece, Lilly. Viewing will be held on Sunday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Romero Funeral Home, main chapel, in Belen. Rosary will be held on Sunday, 7:00 p.m., at San Juan Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, 10:00 a.m., with Father Bill Sanchez officiating. Interment will follow at the Veguita Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Boleslo Baca, Philip Baca, Clarence Baca, Tony Maldonado, Charles Sanchez, and Mark Sanchez. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Blazovic -- Phil Blazovic, Jr., 81, has"gone fishing" after a long illness. He was born August 28, 1917 in Ely, NV, son of Yela and Philip Blazovic. He was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, class of 1934, and earned a Mining Engineering degree with honors from the Missouri School of Mines, 1939. Phil served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during WWII. After his discharge, he married Julia Yurcic of Gallup, NM. He worked and traveled extensively in the field of mining engineering, settling in the Chicago area. In 1987 he retired to Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Julia; daughters, Cynthia and Michele, both of Denver, CO; and grandchildren, Arianna and Alexi, also of Denver, CO; and by his sister, Annie of Albuquerque. A memorial service will be held today, October 10, 1998, 2:00 p.m., at Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE. Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave. SE, in charge of arrangements.

Criner -- Gary D. Criner, 56, a resident of Albuquerque for five years, died Thursday, October 8, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 35 years in February, Frances Criner; two daughters, Cynthia L. Criner of Clemont, FL and Tracy L. Dowell and husband, Daniel of Cedar Crest, NM; two sons, G. David Criner of Layton, UT and Jason Parks Criner of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; one grandson, Ross Emerson of Clemont, FL; parents, Jack Criner and wife, Marion of Spring Hill, FL; and one brother, Dennis J. Criner and wife, Donna of Schererville, IN. Mr. Criner had a career with Borden/Meadow Gold Dairies for 35 years. He began as a staff accountant and worked to the position of CFO. Davis -- Dortha Pauline Davis, 96, a resident of Albuquerque since 1944, passed away in her Albuquerque home on Wednesday, October 7, 1998. She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Bailey and husband, Kenneth of Albuquerque, Maxine Bodenhamer and husband, Ross of Albuquerque and LaVerne Schimke of Newberry Springs, CA; sons, Ivan Davis and wife, Maxine of Olathe, CO, Milton Davis and wife, Betty of Albuquerque and Calvin Davis of Los Lunas; 18 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, C.C. Davis; and children, Leona, Winnie and ElVeda. She came to New Mexico in 1929 as a missionary and dedicated her life to mission work. She was a published writer of children's stories. Memorial Bibles in her memory may be purchased at $4.75 each through the Gideons International, P.O. Higgins -- Jay E. Higgins, 64, a resident of Albuquerque since 1960, died Wednesday, October 7, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Darlene of the family home; son, Brian Scott Higgins of Albuquerque; daughters, Stephanie K. Carrillo and Bruce Russell of Denver, CO, and Dana Leann Barnhill and husband, Troy of Rio Rancho; four grandchildren, Kimberly and Jessica Carrillo, and Tavish and Trevin Barnhill; sister, Dixie Kay Wiles and husband, Danny; brothers, Gary G. Higgins, and Lee Roy Higgins and wife, Jennifer; five nephews, Steven and Michael Wiles, and Jerry, Jamie and Ryan Higgins. Mr. Higgins was a Korean Veteran of the US Navy, received the Korean Service Medal with a silver and two bronze stars, the Navy Occupation Service Medal with the European clasp, and was a"Tin Can Sailor." He was a member of the New Mexico Mounted Patrol for 15 years. Jackson -- A.M. (Buck) Jackson, 89, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, died on Thursday, October 8, 1998, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Jackson was born on Monday, May 12, 1909 in Midland, TX. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Joyce Jackson of Albuquerque; son, Bob Jackson and wife, Ruby of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Betty Tierney and husband, Daniel of Beeville, TX, Rosemary Stakvel and husband, Curley of Cedar Crest, Lee Jackson of Houston, TX, Paula Hayden and husband, Jeff of Albuquerque, Laura Wood and husband, Woody of Beeville, TX, and Rex Jackson and wife, Julie of Austin, TX; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Bill Jackson; and grandson, Jay Morgan Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Lewis -- Rosemary E. Lewis, 62, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 1998. Rosemary was a resident of Los Chavez for ten years. Rosemary was retired from Presbyterian Hospital. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Selina Gallegos and Patricino Perea; and her daughter, Kathryn Lewis. She is survived by three daughters, Jenny Lewis and husband, Joseph Contreras, Monica Lewis Garcia and husband, John A. Garcia, Jr. and Wanda Bond and husband, George Bond; two sisters, Betty Garcia and Eleanor Martinez; one brother, Pat Perea; and five grandchildren, Bryan, Julian, Alyce, Krista, and Jasmine. A Rosary will be recited Sunday, October 11, 1998, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. Maes -- Rev. Bill D. Maes, 76, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, Pastor, and friend, was called home to be with the Lord Thursday, October 8, 1998. Rev. Maes was born on May 14, 1922 in Albuquerque to David and Juanita Maes; he was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque; and was member of the Hope Spanish Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Virginia Maes of the family home; five daughters, Louise Musteikis, Hazel Speer and husband, John, Pearl Chavez and husband, Jerry, Gloria Maes Casias, Shirley Salazar and husand, Mark; two sons, Bill Maes Jr., Robert Maes and wife, Debbie; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Ruby Sullivan, Pearl Maes; one brother, Richard Maes; numerous nieces and nephews; and host of friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and all those who knew and loved him. Prayer services will be conducted this morning, 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of Garcia Mortuary, on the corner of 8th and Stover, with the Rev. David Atencio officiating. Mcauley -- Eugene D. McAuley, born February 27, 1949 in Philadelphia, PA, died October 7, 1998 in Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife, Leona; step-daughter, Michelle Chavez; daughters, Krista and Lauren; son, Andrew; sisters, Eunice Collins and husband, Don of Evanston, IL and Susan McCullough and husband, Mike of New York, NY; brothers, Jerry of New York, NY and Kevin of Evanston, IL; aunts, Brigid McCauley of Philadelphia, PA, Annie Ferry of Co. Donegal, Ireland; and uncle, Francis McCauley of Sydney, Australia. Mr. McAuley was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Mary, who emigrated from Ireland. In 1979, after obtaining a Masters degree from the University of New Mexico, he joined the staff of the Association for Retarded Citizens of Albuquerque (ARCA) where he worked until his death. At ARCA, Gene was instrumental in setting up programs crucial to improving the living standards of persons with disabilities. He was a board member of Alta Mira Specialized Family Services and a consultant to Casa Angelica. Rosary will be recited Sunday, 7:00 p.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1818 Coal Pl. Tackett -- Martha Dee Brownfield Tackett, born August 6, 1915 to Alva Dee Brownfield and Matti Harris Brownfield at the Harris Ranch, next to the A.B. Falls Ranch, Three Rivers, New Mexico, died at her home in Albuquerque on October 9, 1998. Although she struggled with cancer during the last four months of her life, she remained ever cheerful, and steadfast in her faith, to the end. Although Dee Tackett graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1936, majoring in English, she never stopped learning and studying and remained a student until the day she died. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and the Junior League, but her most important involvement, outside of her family and friends, was her life in the church. She was a longtime member of St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church, where she served on the vestry, was a member of the alter guild, worked on diocesan projects, and was active in Seniors and many study and prayer groups, especially the Tuesday morning Communion Group, which she attended almost every Tuesday for the last 16 years. She is survived by her children, Dee Tackett O'Neill of Tucson and her husband, Dan, Ann Policastro of Albuquerque, Paula Tackett of Santa Fe, Paul Winston Tackett of Albuquerque and his wife, Mary Todd (Toddy); several grandsons and granddaughters, Donald Edgar Kilgore IV (Kedin) of New York and his wife, Kimberly Neuhaus, Erin O'Neill and her husband-to-be, Rob Balkind of Greensboro, North Carolina, Christopher Paul Kilgore of Albuquerque, Bonnie Kilgore of Albuquerque, Jennifer O'Neill of Tucson, and Michael Policastro of Albuquerque; two great-grandsons, Jacob and Andrew Kilgore; and countless much cherished cousins, nephews and nieces. All will miss her gentle grace and never-failing love and support. She was preceded in death by her husband, former Supreme Court Justice, Paul Tackett; her mother and father; and her beloved sisters and brothers, Elizabeth Nunn, Jane Skinner and Alva Dee (Sonny) Brownfield. Cremation will take place as she requested. Her memorial service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond NE, Albuquerque, on Tuesday, October 13, 1998 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Martin's Shelter for the Homeless (Hospitality Center) or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Valencia -- Adelida Lola Valencia, 74, a lifetime a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 1998. Lola was born March 24, 1924, the daughter of Pablo and Gregacienda Valdez Vigil in Santa Fe, NM. She had been in the Dry Cleaning business before retiring. Lola was preceded in death by her husband, Joe M. Valencia in 1995. She is survived by two children, Josie Winters and husband, Paul, and Paul Valencia and wife, Mary, all of Albuquerque; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held today, Friday, October 9, 1998, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Chapel of Vista Verde Mortuary, Sara Rd., at Meadowlark Ln., in Rio Rancho, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, October 10, 1998, 9:00 a.m., at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, with Fr. Vallejos -- Isidro"Pappy" Vallejos, 76, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, died Thursday, October 8, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lupe Vallejos of the family home; daughters, Carole Herrera and husband, Sosimo of Albuquerque and Dianna Vallejos of Las Vegas, NV; son, Andy Vallejos and wife, Marianne of Albuquerque; daughters, Jennie Brito of Albuquerque and Dolly Lara and husband, Billy of Sacramento, CA; son, Victor Vallejos and wife, Yvonne of Albuquerque; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Manuel Vallejos and wife, Grace of Sierra Vista, AZ and Raymond Vallejos and wife, Sefie of Socorro; sister, Christine Garcia and husband, Joe of Taos; brother, Andres Vallejos and wife Fella of Deming; sister, Susie Clubb of Alamogordo; brothers, Jimmie Vallejos and wife, Mary of Monticello, NM and Johnny Vallejos of Socorro; sisters, Josie Healy and husband, John of Alamogordo and Della Cellantano and husband, Joe of Moreno Valley, CA; and sisters-in-law, Perfie Padilla and Alice Martinez and husband, Robert, all of Socorro. Mr. Vallejos was a WWII veteran and served in Europe during the Normandy Invasion. He retired from the NM Army National Guard in 1980 with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. Mr. Vallejos was the first Command Sergeant Major in New Mexico. He was a member of the Albuquerque Senior Golf Association and the Old Timers Golf Association. Webster -- Walter Arthur Webster, 74, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died on Tuesday, October 6, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Joy Webster of the family home; brother, William Webster and wife, Bee of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Elaine Morrish and husband, Sid of Albuquerque; nieces, Kimberly Wynn and husband, Dallas of Tucson, AZ and Mary Morrish of Bonney Lake, WA; nephews, Jim Webster and wife, Kathy of Fayetteville, AK, Bill Webster and wife, Lisa of Albuquerque and Tom Morrish and wife, Ruth of Silver City, NM. Mr. Webster was born on Saturday, March 29, 1924, and was a graduate of Albuquerque High School, class of 1943. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marines for three years in the Pacific. He was involved in the invasions of Tarowa, Iwo Jima, and was wounded in the invasion of Saipan for which he was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award. After the war, he attended the University of New Mexico where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. Most of his career was spent at Leedskill-Herkernhoff. He was instrumental in automating the water system for the City of Albuquerque. Mr. Webster was a life member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, and American Consulting Engineers Council. He was a member of the American Legion Post #7 in Tucson, AZ, the D.A.V. Cutting Garcia Chapter #3 in Albuquerque, and the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He enjoyed golfing at the Albuquerque Country Club. He was affiliated with St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Services will be held Saturday, October 10, 1998, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Pastor Ken Moore officiating.
