Chavez -- Luga Chavez, 79, went home to the Lord on June 30, 2001. She is the daughter of the late Santiago and Julianita Lucero. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose D. Chavez. She is survived by daughter, Julia Ontiveros; and son, Joe Chavez; grandchildren, Melissa Martinez and husband, Adolph, Joe R. Ontiveros, Barbara Saavedra and husband, Marcos, Anthony Chavez, Josephine Chavez, Margaret Chavez, Tracy Gonzales and husband, Frank; six great-grandchildren; and brother, Frank Lucero. She will be greatly missed by her loving family. Visitations for Mrs. Chavez will be held Thursday, July 5th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the 8th street Chapel at Garcia Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited July 5th at 7:00 p.m. also in the Garcia Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 6th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Internment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Chavez, Joe R. Ontiveros, Joseph Salazar, Ben Rios, Steve Centeno and David Diaz. Honorary Pallbearers will be Juan Garcia and Marcos Saavedra. Funeral Services are in the care of Garcia Mortuary, 717 Stover Ave., SW 243-5222.
