Lackey -- Zella Jo Lackey, 59, a resident of Cedar Crest, NM, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2001, at home in Cedar Crest, NM. She was born September 7, 1941 to Clarence and Lorene (Bogart) Van Winkle, in Carlsbad, NM. Zella married Royce D. Lackey August 29, 1959 in Ruidoso, NM, he survives her of their home. She was a member of the Vista Grande Church in Cedar Crest, NM, and had been very active in the Women Ministry Group for ten years. Zella will be remembered as a very loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and special friend to many. She is survived by her parents, Clarence and Lorene Van Winkle of Roswell, NM; husband, Royce D. Lackey of Cedar Crest, NM; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Gary and Anna Lackey of Brownfield, TX and Dale and Diana Lackey of Fairchild AFB, WA; two daughters and son-in law, Sara LeAnn and Douglas Warren of Albuquerque, NM and Candice Lorene Lackey of Ignacio, CO; one brother, Jimmy M. Van Winkle, Los Alamos, NM; mother and father-in-law, Floresttle and Pete Lackey; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2001, 9:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Tijeras with Pastor John R. Torrison officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Moriarty, NM. Pallbearers will be Jim Castleberry, Keith Castleberry, Chuck Castleberry, Dick Pollay, Larry Beaty, Jim Brown, Dave Waldron, and Jim Powell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Vista Grande Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 903, Sandia Park, NM 87047. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Harris-Hanlon Mortuary, in Mortuary, NM.
