Smith -- Rev. Victor M. Smith, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 4, 2001. He was born in Delaware, OK on April 25,1914 to Carl Glee Smith and Eliza Jane Gilbert Smith. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruthie M. Smith; son, David J. Smith and wife, Judith of Ontario, CA; daughters, Victoria J. Blatherwick and husband, Orville of Tracy, CA and Estelle R. Morgan and husband, Rev. Granvil Morgan of Covington, TN; grandchildren, Greg Stiles and wife, Melissa, Jennifer Smith, Jefferey Smith, Granvil Morgan II and wife, Sherri, Brent Morgan and wife, Helen, Charisse Morgan, and Cynthia Pereira and husband, Michael; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Smith married Ruthie Smith, August 18, 1936 in Gran Quivira, NM. Together they were pioneers in evangelistic work in many churches in Texas and New Mexico. Rev. Smith later pastored in Duran, NM and Santa Rosa, NM. They also served as missionaries for ¯Youth With A Mission¯ in the 1970¯s in Switzerland and New Zealand. While living in Alamogordo, NM, he worked for the construction company that built the platform on which the first atomic bomb was detonated. He was a member of First Family Church of Albuquerque, having previously been on staff as Pastor to the Seniors. Services will held Saturday, April 7, 2001, 10:00 a.m., at First Family Church, 4701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Rev. Kenneth George and Rev. Galen Woodward officiating. Interment will follow at Claunch Cemetery in Claunch, NM. Pallbearers will be Greg Stiles, Jefferey Smith, Granvil Morgan II, and Granvil Morgan III.
