Hill -- Jerry Hill, 73, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died unexpectedly Saturday, December 15, 2001. He is survived by his wife, Mary Hill of Albuquerque; son, Gary Hill of Albuquerque; daughter, Geri Hartman and husband, Raymond of Albuquerque; grandson, Paul Luce of Albuquerque; sister, Shirley Boles of Albuquerque; and brother, Rollin Hill of Seattle, WA. Mr. Hill was active and well known in the racing community at Speedway Park where he was associated with numerous season champions, notably Buddy Taylor and Johnny Caples who recently retired as president of USAC. He was active in his son and grandson's racing here in Albuquerque. His son Gary won a Midget Championship in 1994. Mr. Hill was with Sandia Auto Electric for 40+ years as shop manager. Previous to his auto career, he worked as a fireman on the Atchison-Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. Mr. Hill served on the Aircraft Carrier Kersarge during his Navy tour. Services will be held Friday, December 21, 2001, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Pastor Rob Kurz officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Pallbearers will be Gary Hill, Paul Luce, Randy Luce, Raymond Hartman, Rick Fisher, and Joe Candelaria. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, Thursday, December 20, 2001, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
