Ellison -- Sophie Jacobson Ellison, 92, a resident of Albuquerque since 1989, died Friday, March 21, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Flynn and husband Kenneth of Albuquerque; son, Larry and wife Karol of Dalhart, TX; daughter-in-law, Rita Ellison of Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Debra Flynn Lambert and husband Gary of Las Polomas, NM, Duke Flynn and Trudi Flynn of Albuquerque, Michael Ellison, Diana Ellison Schmidt and husband, Mike of Fargo, ND; great-grandchildren, Laney Lambert and Corey Lambert; sister, Janna Gallagher; brother-in-law, James Fleming; niece, Marie Ahrens; nephews, Robert Jacobson, Alan Johnson, John Gallagher, and Don Fleming; grand-niece, Susan Olson; and grand-nephews, Kurt Ahrens, Eric and Kristi Ahrens and children, Ethan, Owen and Autumn Ahrens; and Mae Olson and Atsuko Ogawa Olson. Sophie was preceded in death by her beloved husband John in 1966; her granddaughter, Robin Flynn; her brother Leonard; sisters, Agnes and Selma; nephew Donald Olson; and two Ellison grandchildren who died at birth. Sophie was a resident of Minot, ND for over 60 years. She was born in 1910 to Sivert and Gurine Jacobson in Bisbee, ND. She was a graduate of the Bisbee High School Class of 1927. She then moved to Minot, ND where she attended Minot State Teachers College and received her teaching certificate. While teaching she met John Norman Ellison, of Minot, whom she wed in 1934. She was a substitute teacher in the Minot School System for many years. Sophie prided herself with beautiful clothes, which she made for herself, her children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed Bridge games with friends in Minot and Albuquerque. She also loved to play Scrabble with her children and grandchildren, and played Bingo. She was very supportive of and devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Services will be held Monday, March 24, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. N.E. with Pastor Rick Donaho officiating. Interment will take place, Friday, March 28, 2003 at Rosehill Cemetery in Minot, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bisbee Lutheran Church, Bisbee, ND 58317 or the First Lutheran Church, 120 5th Ave. NW, Minot, ND 58701. Sophie's family would like to express their many thanks to relatives and friends who remembered her in their own ways and a special gratitude to the Doctors in Albuquerque and to the staff at Manor Care on Lester in Albuquerque for their loving care given to her.
