Baca -- Gilbert Baca, 88, passed away on Monday, February 3, 2003 at his home in Socorro, NM. He was born April 21, 1914 to Juan and Aurelia (Baca) Chavez in Escondida, NM. He served as a city councilman also as New Mexico State Representative and was a member of the Socorro Masonic Lodge #9. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marian Armijo Baca; brother, Orlando B. Gonzales. He is survived by his daughters, Charlotte Garcia and husband, Albert of Socorro, NM and Joanne Garcia and husband, Florentio of Dallas, TX; brother, Rev. Dr. Noe E. Gonzales of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Melissa Wilcox and husband, Michael, Denise Garcia and Diana Garcia. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at Steadman-Hall Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A Prayer Service will be held Thursday, February 6, 2003 at Steadman-Hall at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 7, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Paul's united Methodist Church in Socorro with Rev. Dr. Noe E. Gonzales officiating. Burial will be in the Socorro Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ed Harris, G.C. Dean, Gary Stendel, Rudy Chavez, Russ More and Ernie Thais. Arrangements under the care of Steadman-Hall Funeral Home, 309 Garfield, Socorro, NM.
